  1. Brutes. Their superiority at soloing is mathematical fact. Scrappers are, of course, a VERY close second.

    You didn't read this thread, did you?

    The power wasn't grossly broken until they decided to go in and "fix" it so that it would do appropriate damage for the archetypes using it. They "fixed" it incorrectly. Eventually the incorrect alteration will be corrected.

    No, this game doesn't need more broken powers. I will agree that the devs need to be more careful when implementing changes for no other reason but to avoid threads like this.

    However, if you absolutely must have SC left as is, I'm sure Castle will be happy to nerf everything else about Shields in order to keep the set balanced with the other mitigation sets. (Actually, I know he wouldn't do this, so accept the nerf to SC now.)
  3. I'd prefer that BAB continue working on removing redraw completely. He almost had it but something went kablooey regarding shields.

    Beyond that, I don't know enough about what causes redraw to say whether your idea is even possible.

    Based on the way power customization works, however, I do not have high hopes that it is possible.

    I'll put it this way: 8 defenders will waltz through a +4/x8 mission faster than 8 scrappers.

    Of course the scrapper will win while solo. EDIT: Moot point, as I did state ATs with mez protection. Most buff/debuffers don't get that.

    The reason that someone probably neg-repped you, which I countered just for the halibut, is that usually when someone pops out the "tankmage" statement they're looking to get something nerfed.

    There's nothing that a SoA can do solo that a scrapper or brute with a comparably expensive build won't do faster and/or with less faceplants.

    SoAs are well balanced for what they do. I found that all of mine weren't a whole lotta fun until 24 and the branches. So, tankmages? No. Just fun and now in that "I Win" button kind of way.

    Honestly, that describes any AT with mez protection and IOs playing at base difficulty.

    SoAs are ok solo. Cranked to the gills they're great solo. Get a team of them together and they'll slaughter everything in front of them.

    But that's true for some others as well.

    As mentioned, lack of DDR keeps them in check.

    He tried to cover it in one of those links. His assumption is that the devs can divorce all aspects of a character completely from the character name.

    All communications will be based on the globalname. Meaning that there would no longer be server friends, only global friends.

    Any specific character name would be meaningless.

    This ignores the fact that if they did so, we could have 10000 "Bill Z Bubba"s on at the same time, all filling up teams and making communication a nightmare because the character name would still have to be the one that shows up in team chat.

    So regardless of the attempt, it fails to correct for the issue at hand by creating more problems.

    In other words, it's a crap idea no matter how you look at it.

    Bill Z Bubba exists on every server. As a placeholder only on all but Pinnacle, but he exists there nonetheless.

    Will I be given a free rename for every one of those Bill Zs with this server merge? Will I have to be stuck with BZB, BZB1, BZB2, BZB3, etc?

    As usual, a poster posts without thinking through the consequences of their request.

    I've got 95% DDR. Cimerorans don't phase me. I'd give you Recluse and his tower, but I've never encountered an STF where I was the one tanking Recluse while the others took out the towers.

  14. For the most part, meaning the entire ride from one to 50, the two will have similar levels of survivability.

    Dark's tohit debuffs pair well with SR and provides the self-heal SR lacks.
    Kat's melee defense will help WP's regen considerably.

    But at the end game fully IOed up? I think Kat/WP will win in both overall survivability and damage output. Either way, both are damn solid.

    Yea, I've never soloed a character to 50 with just SOs.

    Oh wait, I'm doing it right now with my new MA/SD scrapper. And my lvl 36 blaster. And my 30somethin corruptor.

    As stated, SOs are the baseline. I don't bother with IOs, even the basics, unless I happen to be in the base and happen to have the recipe and salvage needed to make them AND they're level 35 and higher. It's just not worth my time to bother with them beyond that until 50.

    You admit that changes to powersets are common around here. Good. That'll help you deal with all the future buffs/nerfs coming down the pipe.

    Way to ignore the huge buffs DM recently got. In other words, the DM that exists today is not what it was at launch. Just like everything else in this game. **** gets changed.

    Castle won't be nerfing DM because of this thread. On its own without saturated Soul Drain it's still nothing special.

    Get a ******* grip, people.
  23. I was only comparing the difference between the CFBU in Tactics/FA versus Followup/Blinding Feint.

    Whether the adding tactics/fa to a build and dealing with the extra end cost for the constant tohit buff and 2.5% defense to melee, range, aoe with a full gaussian set is a different discussion.

    My current build has FA slotted that way while followup has 3 crushing impacts and 3 mako's bite enhancements.

    I don't much care for my current build.
  24. There are many powers across many powersets that currently use a third color. That third part isn't tintable there either.
