I'll restate what's been stated already:
ALL powers in this game follow equations. The damage a power does is based off of its recharge. The endurance it costs is based off of its damage.
The claws numbers were wrong. It was noticed in open beta and brought to the devs' attention then. It took time to get the changes pushed through.
While the devs COULD readjust the recharge and endurance costs of all claws attacks based on the new damage generated from the cast time based claws DPS tweak, we would get the numbers I listed earlier in the thread.
But you have to ask yourself... do you REALLY want a 19 second recharge on spin? -
Hit 26. Never left +0/x6 diff. Now have eviscerate. Spin + Evis makes things considerably easier.
-
Considering that Positron appears to have no difficulty telling his playerbase news that they don't want to hear, I have a very hard time believing tinfoil hat brigade ideas on this topic.
I'd be far more likely to believe that Posi would just come out and say "yup, we nerfed drop rates. Suffer."
He did ban a bunch of people from the game on a whim after all. -
Can someone PM me a few AE ID#s good for farming tickets?
Thanks. -
1: Shockwave doesn't do less damage to a single target than swipe. It does more damage on both scrappers and brutes.
Scrap: .762 vs 1.048
Brute: .835 vs 1.132
And it does so on up to 10 targets.
2: Changes are occurring because because the base numbers were wrong. That which is wrong should be fixed. -
Quote:Good thing you said *most* sets. SR runs around at 95% DDR. Cascading failures I haven't seen since the last time I jumped into a spawn of Rularuu Watchers.
Most defensive sets don't get that much debuff protection either. Additionally, resistance isn't susceptible to cascade failure the way defense is. -

I'm doing my best to look at it this way:
Brutes with claws will be able to get higher ST DPS than scrappers. And scrapper ST DPS ain't nothin to cry over. -
Bored? Not at all.
Annoyed at the broken drop rates, decreased performance and increase in bugs?
Yes. -
My friend didn't have any issues with his trial account. Of course the reason WHY he didn't was because he had a real life friend waiting in game to show him the ropes, hang out with him, etc, etc.
While he was under the trial rules, we discussed exactly what you speak of here, GS.
I can see this being a very rough experience for anyone without existing contacts within the game community trying it out for the first time.
Not only are there the trial limitations, the game itself has a huge learning curve. -
Quote:We can use insps??!?!!
Personally, I don't like the whole idea that AV soloing is done without insps, but you don't see me talk about it in every thread, do you ?
Well that changes a few things... -

unless they descide to take it down even more -
Quote:+0/x1What difficulty level are you running them on Bill? I'll run a few tonight after work.
+0/x8
+2/x8
+4/x8
On test, I was bouncing between all of the diff settings but I was only tracking inf gain. The recipe drops were in the back of my head yelling "Hi! We're farked. Look into this more." -
I feel stuck with EA at this point. I know SR and WP will work wonderfully, but I wanted something new on the brute side.
FA and DA are out. Stone and Shields aren't allowed. I've already got a claws/inv hero side. That leaves ElA and EA but I found that ElA's dependence on end drains doesn't work for me since I like fighting +4s late game. -
Unless you already have eviscerate fully slotted, Clouded, I doubt you'll notice the difference.

That's true, ST. It's still going to be a damn fine brute primary. 3 great AoEs, solid single target output. The blender will still blend quite well.
Another thing about claws is the fact that focus and shockwave still use the melee damage modifier instead of the ranged damage modifier. So there's another oddity that must be taken into account.
Take focus for the example: It does damage scale 1.514
At level 50 on a brute that works out to 63.15 damage.
If it used the ranged damage modifier instead, it would only do 42.1
So we got that going for us.
Quote:Missed this. The claws damage tweak that was added to the set when the animations were all tweaked a while back is a buff and a nerf depending on the cast time of the power in quesion. And how does a lower damage scale equate to a buff?
For scrappers:
Swipe: buff
Strike: buff
Slash: buff
Focus: NERF
Spin: BUFF
Evisc: BUFF
Shock: nerf
For brutes:
Swipe: nerf
Strike: nerf
Slash: nerf
Focus: NERF
Spin: BUFF
Evisc: buff
Shock: nerf -
Quote:There's still A discount to all but brute focus. It's just no longer 20% on endurance. So you're saying there isn't a 20% discount to end or recharge on live right now? And how does a lower damage scale equate to a buff? I've never understood how it works, I guess.
As for the thread during beta stating that claws would be nerfed, I remember that thread. And I remember explaining that there would be no nerf.
Technically, there hasn't been a nerf. The numbers were wrong and now they will be correct.
Yea, I know.... semantics.
Anyhoo.... back to the end and recharge discounts... they still occur as Stupid_Fanboy pointed out. They just mean less since the damage gets tweaked. Why do they mean less? Because how much end a power costs is based on the damage. Because the damage is being reduced by the DPS tweak, but the end is being figured on the damage prior to the tweak, we end up paying more end than we would per damage than we would without the tweak. -
Figured out the eviscerate discrepancy. I used the actual 7' radius rather than the old 5'.
-
Yea, Iggy... it does that. Sometimes it grows on ya a bit too much. It did with me.

Is anyone else testing with paper/scanner missions with a level 50?
If this is a case of the universe deciding to shove probability out the window just for me and just for recipe drops then I should start buying lottery tickets for the karmic payback.
I have to reiterate: My drops have sucked since I-16 hit beta with my level 50 scrapper running scanner missions in PI. How many weeks have passed in that period?
The odds of me maintaining such low drops rates purely due to some statistical aberration in the random number generator over this much time approaches nil. -
Quote:No, brute claws will still do more damage than scrapper claws. The longer recharges make sure of that.Wait, so Brute Claws will be given the same damage scales as Scrapper versions, but have longer recharges? What is the point of that?
I know the Brute version of claws on live is quite different from the Scrapper model, and have been trying to figure out the reasons for slowing it down.
Here are scrapper claw numbers for comparison:
Swipe: 0.762
Strike: 1.082
Slash: 1.325
Focus: 1.385
Followup: 0.800
Spin: 1.581
Eviscerate: 1.914
Shockwave: 1.048
Just to make sure credit's given where it's due: Every number I've listed in here I only have because Stupid_Fanboy did all the work to get the equations back in the day. I just slapped the equations into my own spreadsheet and this is what dumped out. -
I'm having a hard time getting to 28. At 25 now and I almost deleted her again. Instead, I'll bite the bullet and lower her diff back to +0/x4. Apparently I can't handle +0/x6 without dying at least twice a mission now.
She's getting nuked at 29 if ED doesn't let her handle +0/x6 without issue.
