Quote:So that you'll have extra slots to spend on the pools you need to shore up your mitigation.
Also, why does EA have a mez protection toggle that does nothing but protect against mez? You can't slot it for anything but endurance. -
Even paper missions at x8 diff will spawn 2 bosses per spawn. Often two Master Illusionists, two Ring Mistresses or one of each for carnies and for Arachnos you get Fortunatas, Fortunata bosses and Tarantula Mistresses.

Quote:That problem would probably go away for you if you set up your rig as outlined in the ATI sticky thread in the tech forum. I believe the only other option to be disabled ingame not listed in the OP of that thread is Desaturation FX.
That's my primary concern with ATI as well. My old ATI card that I purchased 3-4 years ago worked great with CoH. Unfortunately, when its fan decided to start running at top speed constantly last December, I upgraded. Since that card was so nice, I got another ATI. Little did I know that it would work less well with CoH than the older model. So now I have to type in /fsaa 2 whenever I spot water so that I don't see my character's gigantic reflection upside-down spread across the river/sewer/slow-field-in-the-base (because whatever set of settings I have, I do manage to have watery-appearance on the slow-field AND decent water, but HAVE to manually re-set the fsaa to 2 every time I start the game because it won't save the setting.
Quote:The graphical issues with the game are more artistic than technical.
Head to Port Oakes by ferry. Once zoned in, check your FPS. Turn slowly to the right until the abandoned laboratory comes into your field of view. Watch your FPS plummet. Head to the east side of the zone. Turn back toward the abandoned lab, watch FPS drop again.
There are a LOT of these performance dips caused by how the "world" has been created using this engine.
Now I know exactly fark all about rendering engines. What I do know about is tracking performance. If the kind of horrific open zone performance described above gets fixed by the devs with GR, then I call a win.
However, if they do nothing but throw more crap into the world as haphazardly as it SEEMS they've done so far, it's gonna be sad day for a lot of people. -
I think you should be loyal to your friends and family.
And nothing else. -
Brutes also have higher base HP, and thus get more out of true grit. Balance is a good thing.
The only possible issue I can think of now is the damage cap on psuedo-pets being the same and not following the AT's damage cap. -
-
Next step is getting the pseudo-pets to use the proper caps then.

Quote:Ron White explained that one very well.Ironically enough, on my way home I was contemplating creating a "hawt dudez" thread to go along with the Redheads thread. Because I'm about 90% hetero, but 10% not... anyone that tries to say they are 100% one way or the other are either lying to you or to themselves or both.
As for Carnies... yea, gotta love the carnies. 'specially when they scream. -

Quote:Nice.

I smash and flip out and kill things equally. Brutes are welcome to join in.

I always liked Clamor the best. But I'm kinky that way.

I noticed on SR when I utilize Minimal FX at the costume screen, it also killed off the sound FX. This fact made me squee a bit.
Has anyone checked to see if Minimal FX for Invul does the same? -
This thread is full of fail. Do I have to do everything around here?

As Damz kinda touched on:
Send in the scrappers. We'll get the job done eventually. -
I don't see why it would. That would imply that what is being used for *nix users to run games ONLY work with OGL games and I don't believe that to be the case, but I've been wrong before.
Aren't current Apples nothing but a proprietary GUI on top of a *nix kernal running on PC hardware now? -
Quote:Of course not. But ATi is still listed on the bottom of the coh.com mainpage. And ATi cards are being given out as prizes.
Has there been any update on the ATI problems in the game since then?
Strange that. Marketing truly is completely lacking any connection to reality everywhere, isn't it? -
Like use D3D instead of OpenGL?

To calculate attack chain DPS:
Add up all damage done by chain and divide by sum of cast times.
To calculate chain EPS:
Add up end costs of attack chain and divide by sum of cast times.
It'd be nice if it was that simple, but it isn't.
Cast times aren't accurate. The best we can get is to recalculate cast times using what has been termed arcanatime. Arcanaville gave us the following equation:
(ROUNDUP((CastTime/0.132),0)+1)*0.132
So... take claws swipe. It has a stated cast time of .83 seconds.
.83/.132 = 6.28787~
Round that up to 7
+1 = 8
8*.132 = 1.056
1.056 is the cast time we need to use for calculated DPS and EPS if we were to use swipe in a claws attack chain.
The attack chain Followup, Slash, Focus, Strike has a posted total cast time of 4.5 seconds. The closer to actual time is 5.28 seconds.
To get the damage for each attack you'll have to start averaging out. I use 90% fury.
Total damage = base damage *(1+buffs)
So if you have 95% damage enhancement slotted and add in fury it works out to:
Total Damage = base * (1+1.8+.95)
Hope that helps some. -
Dunno about the DDR. My claws/ea is only 30, I think. SR is still king on that front. SD can get close but you HAVE to double stack active defense to get it there.
The whole defense thing is smack back in my face right now because I also cranked up a claws/sr brute. Belle Z Bubbette. Cloning farkup. I'd honestly forgotten just how bad SR is before SOs. It's freaking painful. And that's WITH a lvl 10 steadfast unique slotted into tough at lvl 14. -
EA suffers from the same curse as all defense based sets. It practically doesn't function until level 22 and SOs.
EA also shares with SR another issue: It can be softcapped due to the preponderance of +def in setIOs and pool powers.
Does it have equivalence with SR in the amount of defense it provides? Of course not. But it does come with static dam-res that exists at all times rather than turning on at 60% health, a self heal that when fully slotted and saturated is a 60% heal every 30 seconds, and has massive endurance tools allowing you to more easily pay for all the extra pools you take to overcome its weaknesses.
So... do I think it needs any further buffs? Nope. We just have to accept that defense blows until 22, SOs, kinda sucks until you add a steadfast unique, CJ and weave, and fails more than it should until you're sitting at the softcap.
