  1. Sure we care. You might be a Texan some day.

My family's from Georgia, so I'm all over the sweet tea as well from time to time. Currently drinking coffee I made at home using my espresso maker. Steamed the milk, poured in the coffee, slammed it with sugar... flyin high again.
  2. Umbral, were you at the meet and greet at Dave and Busters here in Austin a few years back? Was rather festive and I'd dig NCSoft throwing another one here.

Werner, I may be hitting you up for info soon. Went through a few months of hittin the weights and slamming chocolate Muscle Milk in milk. (sooo gooood. not the stuff in stores, the big vat of powder I'd mix with organic 2% milk) Felt awesome for a while, then got lazy as hell again.

Saw snow, with full sunlight pouring through lighting it up, as I drove back in to work from lunch. I miss snow.
  3. Glad to help, man. I hate me some jaggies.
  4. You're missing several things actually.

First is Enhancement Diversification. In a nutshell, any enhancement of the same type after the third is reduced so much it might as well be considered nothing. Even the third enhancement is reduced slightly.

Second is that there are 4 types of enhancements. Where a tier 1, like accuracy, single origin enhancement buffs a power by 33%, a tier 2, like defense buffs, only buff the power by 20%.

Third, is that the base value of the buff for combat jumping is itself quite low. For a scrapper, it only provides 1.875% defense. If I stick a single SO defense buff in it, it becomes (1.875*1.2) 2.25% defense. If I stick 2 SOs in it (40% buff) it becomes (1.875*1.4) 2.625% defense. A third SO in CJ only buffs the power by about 56% instead of 60% due to enhancement diversification, so it only bumps it to (1.875*1.56) 2.925% defense to all.

Which can be corrected through the use of +endurance accolades, chance for +end performance shifter procs, stamina, physical perfection, perma-accelerated metabolism, etc.

I don't have hasten in my current build on Bill Z because even with it, I was unable to attain the divine followup, slash, focus, repeat attack chain.

My current chain of followup, slash, focus, strike, repeat without pauses (97.5% global recharge) can be maintained indefinitely while running his six toggles thanks to physical perfection and stamina both having the chance for +end procs slotted.

Had hasten's 70% + the 97.5% global recharge been enough to attain the chain of followup, slash, focus, repeat, I'd have it and still not run out of end.
  6. hmmm, what do I have?

    Devil with claws
    Devil with blood magic
    Devil with fire
    Devil with fire
    Lady devil with dark fire
    Chick in armor
    Sorceress
    Werewolf

See? Everything can have a simple explanation.

I could turn around and call the first one: magically created physical manifestation of Beelzebub held together through magical manipulation of matter while focusing on lethal outbursts of magic focused on his talons here in Paragon to send more souls to Hell to fill the ranks for the upcoming confrontation with Heaven.

but he's still just a dead sexy devil with claws.

And Bin Man, that's a pretty groovy costume. I like how the various pieces came together.

I had a similar thought. Regardless of the heehawing going on in this thread since BAB's announcement, I'm still giddy as a schoolgirl.

I've been waiting for this change for a LONG time and I'm looking forward to hammering it out on test to the best of my ability as soon as it hits.

The more I pondered it this morning while getting ready for work, the more I realized just how many things were going to change in the way I play.

My current hunstman build on my SoA is getting tossed. Without redraw issues annoying the hell out of me, I'll be more than happy to add in several of the mace attacks.

I JUST respeced Bill Z Bubba again on a lark, and now I'm going to have to seriously consider the fire APP on his secondary build. Followup, Spin, Eviscerate, Shockwave, Fireball is a hell of a lot of AoE damage output.

The thought of my claws/wp brute being able to do followup, slash, focus, gloom, repeat sends shivers of min/max ecstasy through me.

I'll actually consider archery again. Perhaps an archery/dark or archery/storm corruptor.

And the list keeps getting larger.

I really hope that BAB can find the time to write up a full explanation on what the fix is and how it came to find it in such a short time after stating in this thread how problematic it might be. My curiosity is killing me.
  8. Leandro, are you also disabling Desaturation Effects? It causes the same problems as Bloom, Depth of Field and High Water. Having ANY of those 4 enabled will break FSAA.
  9. Yuban is my coffee of choice at the moment for normal home brewing.

When I want to spend the $4.38 on a cup from outside of home, I hit Dazzle Coffee in Pflugerville for a 4shot latte with 2 raw sugars and whipped cream. Can't recall what kind of coffee they use, but it is some yummy stuff.

I generally drink about 14-18 cups of coffee a day. My travel mug holds 3-4 cups.

Why, yes, I AM a stimulant junkie.

In that situation, DB will hit a plateau much earlier since most of its powers do similar DPA, but it actually has a slightly lower single-target DPS than Electric Melee, because the only two higher-than-normal DPA attacks are Ablating and Sweeping; BillZBubba's thread with the high recharge attack chains had these numbers - and keeping in mind that every other Brute primary except Battle Axe (@~187) in the thread got numbers around 200+:

    Brute Electric 169 4.69 EPS
Brute Dual Blades 168.3 4.42 EPS

In that thread, Dual Blades was dead last among Brute primaries in ST DPS - that particular thread also included using pool powers (notably patron powers, and Gloom in particular) in the attack chains. Note that just using SOs or common IOs and not using any pool powers, Dual Blades will outdamage Electric Melee in single target (Brute Dual Blades 134.8 3.5 vs Brute Electric 106.6 2.9 in the other set of calculations) because Electric Melee's only "good" DPA powers are Chain Induction and Lightning Rod (but I'm not going to count something with a base recharge of 90s as an attack chain power). But adding a lot of recharge doesn't help DB as much (note that at low recharge, FM has the highest damage followed by EM; with high recharge it's DM* (*assuming 10 targets for Soul Drain), then SM, FM, SS, and EM); the key to getting ElM up there is cycling Gloom and Chain Induction - the best DPA attacks available for the primary - as often as possible, and the chain used cycled each roughly every 4 seconds - this is one of the cases where not having redraw means that Gloom helps the chain a great deal since it has a higher DPA than any attack in either primary).

So no, neither one is "good" for single-target damage, but Electric Melee can get slightly better DPS on a dedicated build for it as well as having a less-resisted damage.
It should be noted that with the removal of redraw in combat (check dev digest for BAB's post) those DPS studies are about to be made somewhat moot.

Also, for dual blades, I did not factor in the buffs from the combos. DB will have better ST damage than I accounted for there.
  11. Same here, Werner.

Can't wait to see how this unfolds on test.

It will just instantly appear in your hand and play the attack animation. If you're not in combat, out of range, or have no target selected...then it will play a non-rooted, interruptible version of the weapon draw animations.

Some minor issues with consistently playing a weapon draw animation outside of combat, or the weapon draw animation playing when it really does need to...but that shouldn't interfere with combat.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get to every powerset at once, but I was able to get the following powersets done.

    • Broadsword
    • Claws
    • Dual Blades
    • Archery
    • Battleaxe
    • War Mace
    • Trick Arrow
    • Thugs Mastermind Dual Pistols
    • Robotics Mastermind Pulse Rifle
    • Arachnos Widows
    • Arachnos Soldiers
    • Patron "mace" powers
    • Munitions Ancillary Pool
The rest will have to wait until sometime after GR:
    BAB,

    1: FARKING AWESOME.
2: Was this some kind of sudden epiphany? What pointed you to a way to fix this?
    3: What IS the fix?
4: There's going to be a bunch of weapon powersets that I'm going to have to revisit because of this.

Well played, man. Seriously well played.

EDIT: hrrrmmm.... is this going to force Castle to revisit all the sets?

Soon redraw won't be an issue, so keep the long term in mind when deciding.
    What makes you say this?

    OH!

    Wow.

I'm going to have to seriously reconsider some attack chains. Followup, Slash, Focus, Gloom sounds mighty nice.

Ninja Run is a neat toy... but as a replacement for one of the existing travel powers? It isn't.
Respeced my claws/sr scrapper again on a whim. He has no true travel power. Ninja Run, Sprint, Swift, Quickness, Combat Jumping. CJ is 4 slotted with the three zephyrs and a LotG +recharge. The others are single slotted with a basic run IO. (Yes, I am aware that CJ detoggles when NR is enabled.) Just under super speed MPH. It works perfectly well as a replacement for a standard travel power for me.

It also allowed me to break 1930 HP mark and I now regen at 30HP/sec while retaining my fu, slash, focus, strike, repeat attack chain with no pauses and no hasten.

It is true that it won't function on master runs, but I don't care about those.

To the OP, WP is a much smoother ride than regen. Regen does cause redraw, which sucks and diminishes your damage output.

My bet is that you'll have more fun going sword/wp.
  15. BAB,

Thanks. That was a great explanation.

If you ever find a few free cycles, could ya slap in a new grounded animation for followup so that it, too, alternates hands?

Obviously a low priority, but having seen it while hovering, sure would be nice.
  16. My Huntsman rocks solo. I can only imagine what she'd be like with multiple stacked buffs coming from other VEATs.
  17. Well... defenders do suck compared to corruptors.

I see more and more of that lately. It's a good thing. Especially when so many of us are rolling around with builds that can solo x8 difficulty.
  19. Well, A, in case BAB doesn't have a chance to answer it, what problems do you think he and the team will run into attempting to remove redraw completely?

    My assumptions:

Each set has its own redraw animation, one each for each body type and fly vs normal
Dumping that animation means dumping every call to the animation

Example: Claws wielder using Air Superiority

    Currently:
    Mode: Claws; Attack: Swipe
    Mode: Claws; Attack: Focus
    Mode: Combat; Attack: Air Superiority
Slash gets queued, code recognizes change in combat mode, calls redraw animation for new mode
    Mode: Claws; Redraw
    Mode: Claws; Attack: Slash

That sound right? If so, what gets changed besides yanking the code that does the *mode change, weapon set in use, play redraw animation*? What problems might arise due to that?

Evil is more fun than good. And warshades aren't as weak as peacebringers.

/runs off to play his black/red color tinted darkmelee/willpower brute

I've actually looked at getting rid of weapon draw entirely, but even that is problematic. The system is very inflexible as far as different combat modes goes.
How so problematic? Purely asking out of curiosity here.

Side question related to PM I sent a while back:

If claws and lefthand are subsets of Dual Wield, what's happening with Follow Up only alternating hands while hovering?

Is there a specific Claws-Followup-Fly animation that includes the alternating hand that doesn't exist as Claws-Followup-Normal?
  22. Never said I wasn't a carebear. I'm just a carebear that wins a lot for some reason.
  23. Try the dev digest. Read through BAB's posts. You'll find it.
  24. I honestly don't PvP much, which might also explain my current perceptions. But there have been a few large free for alls in arena, a few one on ones, and some warburg and RV action as well.

Within that bunch of events, the only time I felt gimped was against a /rad when I thought that breaking LoS was what I needed to do to get the rad toggles off me instead of distance as I later learned.
  25. If someone wants a direct reply from a dev, they should PM the dev in question.

The dev can then copy/paste the reply they've sent out a hundred times explaining the ROI for a given suggestion.

Or they can post it to the forums once and allow the players to regurgitate the info.

When a poster chooses to post a suggestion to the open forum rather than a private message, often they'll get the second option. It's not so much that people hang out in the suggestions forum waiting to slap down ideas, it's more that many of the long time forum goers have seen the same suggestion proposed a thousand times.

It's a question of whether it's worth the time, and thus the money, to accomplish a task.

In this case, we've been told multiple times that the answer is, "No."

Try to keep that in mind next time you feel it necessary to share your baseless judgments with the rest of us.
