I feel squishy on just 0/x8. To do +2/x8 I stock purple out the butt.

But, just even level mobs can make me feel squishy. Bosses make me feel squishy. I just really push it.
  2. On missions I feel like a blaster, and am squishy as a blaster. Quickly approaching lvl 50 through solo missions set to +2/X8. Sitting at level 44 now. I'm wondering if the build I have planned will even be needed. Already kills mobs fast enough to always have 3 stacked purple for defence. I guess it'll be nice for teams when I dont get all the Insps. Then I'll need the defence.

But, wanting info on my proprosed build, as the only experience I have with Spines or Fire, is this char. Btw, I hate hate hate Burn. And will not use it.

Also, would ring of fire be better slotted for damage, or with the Immob set I have in it, for the s/l defence. Or would it really be needed for some decent-ish ST damage?

By the way, why would the Immob do more damage than the Hold, in Blaze mastery? That's just silly.

And, does anyone have any better slotting options for Quills and Blazing Aura?

Will 8pts of KB protection be sufficient for most aspects of gameplay?

  3. Also. Remember that Electric's staple, LR, doesn't take damage buff's past 250%. So that glorious LR doesn't add up after you're able to buff yourself or get buffed. Whereas , every other aoe does. And Thunder strike and jacobs ladder doesn't hit everyone near you, so... I would go with Fire Melee. FSC hits everyone, can be buffed past 250%, and recharges faster than LR.

What's the point in an AOE if it only hits 3 or 4 baddies out of the 8 or more around you?
That's why i've re-rolled my Electric melee into something else.
Full buffed LR, 250% may do more than FSC or FS. But considering a brute can go way over 250%. FSC or FS can do the same, or more damage than LR with some buffage, or popping reds.
And let's be honest, most people roll a electric melee for LR. When other AoE's can do far more damage, and more often than LR.

Oh, and. Yes. Claws, Spin really is that amazing. It puts FS to shame. Just has less range. and an earlier level.
  4. BigOleDru

    Perma-Energize?

With enough global recharge to reach perma-hasten. And 90% recharge in Energize, I still don't have perma Energize. I don't think it would be very worth it, either. Considering the +regen doesn't make a considerable impact. The heal might, though.
  5. Hi, im trying to plan a build for my Dm/Sd brute using Purples. But I just cant seem to figure out how to soft-cap it w/o gimping some powers. (ie. ToD in Siphon Life to soft-cap melee)
But even then, I can't seem to soft-cap ranged.

This is an all-out min/max build. I've already attained a cheapish soft-cap build. So, the only other way to go is a Purp build for some better DPS. With or w/o Hasten.

Anyone have any, or know of any builds using Purps, while still keeping soft-capped to melee/range. And decent AOE def.
  6. This is my current Baby. Nigh-unkillable to everything but Hami and PPD. And probably the cheapest route to soft-capping with decent extras.

I didn't bother worrying about defense debuffs, as I plan to make a new build utilizing Purps, Ho's, and Grant Cover.

  7. I mainly use this toon for ITF and LGTF.

I worked on +HP and +Regen, and am still falling short on living.
I do ok when I remember to juggle Fault, and toggle someone with Darkest Night. But I feel I shouldn't NEED to use Darkest Night just to survive a mob.
Regular gameplay I do great. I'm just feeling a tad bit squishy for these TF's and want to better it.
Figured I should respec into a build focusing on +Def, but then I get this question.
Should I focus on S/L defence, or F/I/E/N def to compliment Heightened Senses?

  8. I just start spamming my AoE attacks.
    I don't want aggro.
If someone is silly and takes the aggro off me, oh well.
If they biff, it's their fault.

    I am not a tank.

    Mace Question

Are there unlockable Maces? Was thinking about trying out a WM/WP brute. But i'm not too fond of the starting maces. Do we get any cool unlockable maces? Like.. Wishing here... The Iron Strongman maces? That would be friggin awesome right there.
Or do we get stuck with puny little boy maces?
  10. I love my Elec/Elec.
Having tested out multiple builds with very varied survivability and damage.
For lower levels, you'll really have a hard time. But, using CB, HP, Air Sup, and Boxing make for a nice fast low level ST chain that can still be used high level. You really will need to stock up on greens though, untill you're able to slot him out some defence.
The fun thing with Elec Melee is most of the attacks will drain end, and give some back to you. Not very important later, but was helpful for early levels.

I'm not gonna lie, I gave up on my elec/elec for a while because he was just too darned squishy. Got him to his 30's and left him to rot.

Focus on energy damage baddies. I repeat, Focus on energy damage baddies.

And with i16 comes a huge plus to survivabiltiy in the form of Energize.
    We get a heal, finally!

Would suggest slotting for melee or s/l defence.
I ran a build with 38% melee def. Made him much more survivable, but i wasn't pleased with his damage output after focusing on defence.

After 50, i started on his second build, which is a recharge intensive build. For farming. No defence, just +recharge. With perma-hasten i'm running 168% global recharge, with 70-80% in each aoe attack. They die, I live. I die, too, so I stock up on greens. Energize will fix that problem.

And as for Stamina/Fitness. If you slot Power Sink. You'll be spamming aoe attacks so often, that fitness alone will make no impact on your end. I'm planning to drop Stamina in place for Energize. It's exciting to see my blue bar drained in a matter of 30 seconds, only to click Power Sink and be full again. Stamina will not hep there. Only thing stamina might help with is to offset your toggles end usage.

My Elec/Elec build. Cheap +recharge slotting, no purples or LOTG. And surprisingly, CB and HP w/o damage enhancement, still do decent damage due to their massive recharge.

  11. So, rolled an Elec/Elec. The Squishy factor made him more exciting to play than any other brute i've tried. Plus i'm looking forward to /elec's buff in i16.
Love the AoE, and ST damage isn't too horrid with enough recharge. Made a st chain of CB>HP>CB>anything. Did a lot of solo grinding. Now i'm working on a melee def build. Best i've managed to get is 43%. Runnin Titanium Coating, Obliteration, and ToD. With weave and combat jumping.
Has anyone made a soft-capped melee or s/l def build for elec/elec? While still retaining some decent recharge.

Yeah, i'm looking forward to claws and will be rolling a Claws brute once they come out. My first char i liked was a claws/ scrapper. Can't wait for that. Just in the mean time, want something else to work on.

Thinking I might try Dual Blades. Just not sure which combos work well on DB.
Anyone have a guide for DB?
  13. Hey, i'm unsure of what to roll for my next brute. And just want to hear of some other's experience with their brutes.

I don't want some tricked out AE farmer, as I dont like 8 man ae farming where everyone wants the brute to do all the dirty work. So, I guess to sum it up, I dont want an AoE only brute.

I'm more for ST damage. I like running Sf's. I like soloing or small groups (2-4)
I admit, i'll use AE to level as I dont feel like grinding for weeks again, but after that I dont want to be stuck as an AE farmer.

Currently run a SM/WP brute. I love the smashey feeling.

    I don't ever plan on making a /stone defense, or /sd.
And I want to try something other than /wp, as I have two 40+ WP scrappers, and my 50 wp brute. Not too fond of the idea of another SM or SS, as SS is too much like SM.
  14. I'm not gonna post a build as mine is still in the works, and i do not have a final io slotting build, yet.

Since you have a Wp tank, you'll know what is needed to make WP bloom.

With SM, it's optional, but very important to note, your AoE will suck. Tremor has a huge activation time, with small damage compared to what you can do slotted for ST. If you try to run AoE with a SM you'll begin to hate it, and feel very behind other sets with AoE.
For ST, it's possible to make an attack chain of Gloom, Heavy Mallet, SS. With enough global recharge. I took gloom, HM, SS, SM, and air sup on my SM brute. All 5-slotted with crushing impact. Running at 25% global recharge. Slotted force feedback recharge in fault, and use a chain of gloom, HM, SS, fault. When fault procs your attack chain will be back up and ready, with hasten.
If you dont have the big spawns for fault to work 100% of the time, you'll have to make use of all 5 attacks.

Stone Melee is my new favorite for ST damage. I dropped Tremor, and didn't take any AoE from patron.

Instead, Darkest Night really goes a long way on WP. with the -dam and -tohit, it's almost like an "I Win" button. Increased my SM/WP's survivability almost 10-fold.

Lastly, I must reiterate how terrible Tremor is. It is quite possibly the worst pbaoe power i've seen for a brute.

Fault is a godsend for WP.

Darkest Night is a godsend for WP, if you can't afford expensive IO slotting for survivability.
