Stone/WP build advice

Mkay, getting back into red side. I have an elec/elec brute, but won't play him much til at least I16.

Am gonna level my up Stone/WP. I have a WP tank, and have never leveled up a stone melee toon much past 15.

Was hoping some folks with experience could post some builds so I can get a feel for what I can expect with reasonable IO slotting.

Haven't really been able to come up witha build I am happy with, but I may be expecting too much as I am looking at this from a tanker perspective.

Here is what I came up with, it is low on def, has moderate resistance and regens @80hp/sec.

I know what can be done with them as tanks, just want to see if this is on par for brutes, seems a bit squishy to me.

I'm not gonna post a build as mine is still in the works, and i do not have a final io slotting build, yet.

Since you have a Wp tank, you'll know what is needed to make WP bloom.

With SM, it's optional, but very important to note, your AoE will suck. Tremor has a huge activation time, with small damage compared to what you can do slotted for ST. If you try to run AoE with a SM you'll begin to hate it, and feel very behind other sets with AoE.
For ST, it's possible to make an attack chain of Gloom, Heavy Mallet, SS. With enough global recharge. I took gloom, HM, SS, SM, and air sup on my SM brute. All 5-slotted with crushing impact. Running at 25% global recharge. Slotted force feedback recharge in fault, and use a chain of gloom, HM, SS, fault. When fault procs your attack chain will be back up and ready, with hasten.
If you dont have the big spawns for fault to work 100% of the time, you'll have to make use of all 5 attacks.

Stone Melee is my new favorite for ST damage. I dropped Tremor, and didn't take any AoE from patron.

Instead, Darkest Night really goes a long way on WP. with the -dam and -tohit, it's almost like an "I Win" button. Increased my SM/WP's survivability almost 10-fold.

Lastly, I must reiterate how terrible Tremor is. It is quite possibly the worst pbaoe power i've seen for a brute.

Fault is a godsend for WP.

Darkest Night is a godsend for WP, if you can't afford expensive IO slotting for survivability.

I am still wishy-washy about taking Tremor. I have heard all around how terrible it it, but I do like having at least a little bit of aoe, just to soften up everything around me. However, I do have 2 other aoe friendly brutes(elec/Ela, ss/sd), so I may just skip it and make this one a single target nightmare.

As far as Darkest Night goes, I am gonna skip it, I think. I am most likely going to go all out on this toon for IOs, and have a revised build that is softcapped for S/L. I may try to see what I can put together for positional def instead, but I would rather hit softcap on S/L than get "close enough" on positional.

Revised build, is a final build, and not set up for malefactoring, may redo it to make it more friendly in that regard

I can offer you another perspective on SM and its AoE potential, as I have a stone/electric/mu brute specced for AoE.

Tremor does have a long animation time, but it's still a good power. If you can stand the animation of Knockout Blow, then you can stand that of Tremor as well. Just be careful and don't perform it while on a sliver of health. It does decent damage and the knockdown is great, but that still ain't enough on its own in terms of AoE dps. With the patron immob and AoE however, your AoE damage output will be quite good. SS will have better, but SS is the king of AoE damage.

So if you want to go the AoE way, you can do so with SM and you'll be quite good, but you need the patron powers. I find it very enjoyable and powerful. Bottom line - try it, you can always respec out of it.

Yeah, I have already taken it, depending on how much i play redside the next few days I should hit 50 by the weekend. I do plan on taking the immob, i will probably take the aoe as opposed to the single target to try things out.

The single target damage is just sick, I just hate all the damn knockback on the aoe's.

As for SS being the king of AoE damage, I know some fire tanks/brutes that would not see it that way, but I am staying out of that one.

Yeah, I'll see that one when i get my fire/fire brute to 50 ^^
