  1. Its probably been answered in thread, but its a big thread, so forgive me... But will the new power sets (Street Justice et al) be available from the 13th when the issue is released via the Paragon Market right?
  2. I tried to check the server status page on http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html

as per the ingame popup, but said page not found?
  3. I just wanted to make a gesture of thanks to the people here who have steered me, put up with my crap, and just generally gave me pointers to help me turn my main tanker (and his rogue clone) into the unstoppable beasts they are today. The advice, and guidance and support questions answered etc, have been invaluable. Im sure you know who you are and all so, cheers guys, and now let me tell you a story that made me sit up and realise "I have arrived"

This morning I jumped onto my Invul / SS tanker = Power-Drive. He's a baby incarnate, with Tier 3 alpha only. Thats it, but he's got plenty of sets in him and he's level 50. I started to run some hero tips in Atlas. The first featured me quaring off against Rikti and I remember thinking, "wow there's a fair few Rikti in here" so I had a friend from Defiant Events join me, and we carried on. Once the psychic rikti were dispatched, the rest swarmed round.

All the while I was totally oblivious to the simple truth, as I had not played Power-Drive for so long, I had clean forgot he was set to +2 x8 mobs! It was only when we proceeded to do a tip involving devouring Earth that the penny finally dropped. Even then, I carried on, and thanks to the quartz crystals, they did give me lots of pain, nearly killed me once, had to fall back on about 5 insps, and shock horror, Unstoppable to block the toxic barrage from about five greater devoured. But he survived.

I of course apologised to my teammates for putting them through that ringer so cluelessly when I finally realised. And they graciously accepted, but it was a highly educational experience on just what a well made Tanker is capable of.

    Trial times

a lambda with 8, I'd go for happily, though I like the BAF better than the lambda in truth its a lot less frantic running about.

I just think its my silly work hours that interferes the worst.

    Trial times

Hello everybody, it seems that Defiant these days is quieter than Dark Astoria during a one minute silence. I know many are probably on the beta, but, I just can't seem to find any trial recruitment at any time of the day almost. If you shout for it in defiant events, it seems dried up no interest, even task force shouts are laborious.

Any idea whats going on, or when the best time of the day is to jump on a trial?
  6. I have to say... I think I prefer my forcefield / Electric blast.

Reason being, once everybody is bubbled and I got manouvres and the dispersion bubble up. Everybody should be at 40% defence round about, and then, I can cut loose, summon Volt, and then blast away with him!
  7. I agree, manouvres on an invul tank is a bit ... bear in mind, you will be running: temp invul, unyielding, Invincible, tough (unless you get the alpha) and weave. thats 5 toggles, then add the leadership, that's 6 and apart from stamina, and physical perfection, and insps, an invul tanker has no other way to get endurance boosts. And, super strength does like its endurance!

On an electric tanker, run all the toggles you want! when you run low, you just nick the endurance from the mobs. No problem.

Between Invincible, Tough hide, and weave, an invul tanker can get darn close to the main def caps. I wouldn't say its 100% essential to hit all of them, but, the closer you can get the better. You have the option of varous invention origin sets as well to push you nearer as well as your standard powers.
  8. I got both Voltaic Sentinal and Thunderous Blast on my forcefield Defender, and I got the final two attack powers on my Empathy / Energy as well.

I love voltaic Sentinel, you can just deploy it in the middle of all the mobs around the tank and then just watch the blasts rain out.
  9. One question is this a respec plan? Even so, taunt at level 49? An invul / EM tanker is a beast thanks to the AOE's they have to play with, leaving taunt way too late there I'd say personally. also looks like money is no object eh? Armageddon? nice!

Also IMHO taking hasten is not worth it either. The EM powers don't take that long to recharge really even without rech reductions.

6 slotting Health too I'm not sure is worth it even to use as a mule for a bonus. 6 slot physical perfection for sure, and also 6 slot dull pain instead.

6 slot Thunderstrike to get the Def bonus from Obliteration, Sacrifice a slot from Charged Brawl if need be.

Lightning Rod, I would have that 6 slotted that with Obliteration for another Def boost bonus.
  10. Got my FF / elec blast Defender to 33, fast approaching 34, looking forwards to getting volataic sentinel at 35 and thunderous blast at 38! happy days
  11. Just to add here, grounded works when you are on or near the ground. You can use combat jumping, as long as your feet don't leave the ground by more than about 2 or 3 feet, you will still have the KB protection
  12. Im currently unlocking rebirth on my Invul / SS tanker I want the +Regeneration. Dull Pain takes me almost to the HP cap anyway, so the +regen on top is nice.
  13. Hey all, just curious but, how long do the debuffing effects of this ability last? Have checked paragon wiki, but there is no details about how long the 5% to hit and 15% regen debuffs last.

Single target damage output I'd say DM and SS (as stated before...Rage is so damn good).
War Mace's crowd control for damage is awesome, and its a fairly wide cone too, more often than not it will knock all but the strongest of foes onto their backsides, and with some buildup behind it, can from my experiences compare to an SS footstomp. the only thing is, you'll only be able to use it once per build up.

Electric is not as good at the single targeted attacks, which is why to be honest its quite good paired with Invul or Willpower on your primary. You got Thunderstrike, and you have lightning rod, even on a tanker, the damage from build up, followed by lightning rod, is huge. And if you put Obliteration in it, watch that bad boy go.
  15. Thanks for the warning on that, I kinda thought they'd be small, but for this character smaller is better my two science tanks whom I want this power on are massive and they wear utility bets for their temporary powers, so these drones will fit in the belt perfectly to be thrown out at a moments notice.

Just need to unlock the lore slots now...

Thanks DarkGob, I reckon I could go with them, they suit the concept for my Science Tankers just fine.

@Tornak, I have yet to unlock the lore slot.
and I probably wouldn't have thought of the tailor anyway, so thanks for the suggestion there!
  17. Anybody got a picture of what they look like please? Was thiking of taking them as a power
  18. I can understand why people would rather be good than villainous. I know there is a running theme in the worlds of superheroes that the good guys beat the villain. I think this accounts for the figures of villains to heroes.

Villain side on Defiant speaking from my experience is not dead, but, I would certainly describe it as "comatose" the main channel for groups etc Defiant Events EU regularly calls out for hero side content. But occasionally the villain side stirs somewhat and might even open its eyes for a time, but they soon shut.

I personally love villain side. I get bored of being a hero all the time saving the day hunting down the bad guys and dispensinv my own brands of rough justice. I look at COH like a comic, and me a writer, all heroes need villains, and I have started making story arcs in AE about my characters and their adventures, so I can have my heroes, fight my villains, and vice versa. They are still WIP's till I figure out the AE system fully, but, its fun.

I feel the same way though about playing villains over and over, I had a week of playing villain side not long ago, and I did level a villain to 45, but by the end of it, I was bored of it. I personally cannot just play one side over the other.

For me, its all about the roleplay element, am I good person in real life, yes, I like to think so. Would I pull an old lady out of the road from a speeding oncoming car if she stepped out at the road at the wrong time? Certainly would. I wouldn't dream of doing anything to hurt somebody for real however I like the idea of being a villain because of the notion, "to truly know good you must also walk amongst evil"

We need villain side, and people need to play it and get immersed in it, even if just to break up monotony.
  19. I've been trialing it up the past day or two using Threads and Inf to generate IXP to unlock the slots, but, well having now sampled a BAF I have to say, I'm in love!

I really enjoyed playing the BAF it was a helluva lot of fun particularly the escaping prisoners bit.

Lambda's I am getting quite good at, but, I hate the frantic run through the warehouse and labs looking for stuff to destroy, usually whether by design or not, the team tends to split up a bit and divided you fall as the old saying goes.

But well, I thought, tier 2 judgement here I come, but alack and alas no... I am a mere 2 threads short...

I shall however return to the trials again to kick Marauders PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE to get a couple of threads and earn some more IXP to go towards Lore and Destiny.
  20. I play an Invul tanker a lot, and part of their defence is to have huge amounts of mobs round you.

I have no problem whatsoever with an energy blasting character doing his big nova blast as mostly it pretty much incapacitates / kills everything.

I don't like it when they use their energy torrent though, it knocks them flying and doesn't do much to harm them, which is irritating a bit... but... here's the trick, I have legs!!

I can pursue the enemies! This is genius, all I got to do is run back into the middle of them.

Um.. what was the problem again?

Seriously don't mind energy blasters at all!
  21. Its a bit of a contradiction isn't it?

On the one hand, the ability to strengthen and foritfy, and on the other, the ability to destroy with unbelievable efficiency!

    I like

    Empathy / Fire FTW
  22. Im down with this, different objects would be awesome, heck Ive been stood on sand and done hurl and instead of blasting my target with a cloud of harmless sand, no, he got a chunk of concrete...

so from my perspective I wouldn't give a monkeys if Im in an office building and suddenly a forklift gets tossed at the enemy.
  23. LOL I did consider that, imagine the Tanker or Brute's reaction when all of a sudden the mobs he/she is pounding on suddenly go whoosh in all directions

I have a macro though saying something like

"if you are squishy stay near me, Im going to activate force bubble to keep them away from us!"
  24. The other day I got my Empathy / Energy to 32 and my Forcefield / Electric to 32.

I have to say the final powers in both primaries were, to my mind really worth it. Adrenalin boost is quite awesome really. Even with just one slot for recharge, I turned my end happy MA Scrapper Friend... into Chuck Norris, on steroids!

And in forcefields, I used to have trouble soloing on her due to mobs getting into melee range all the time and smacking me about, particularly freakshow, now, its not a problem anymore, forcebubble keeps them out of range and keeps me safe. It really is fun watching them try to get near, get pushed back, slip on their behinds. Oh happy days!

    Detonator

Really for me, Detonator is going to be a last resort ditch effort type power. If I see one of my robots about to fall, and my Repair isn't ready, you can bet your bum he's gonna get blown up in their faces!
