Inv/Ele: Show me my mistakes

BigBoss Eyepatch

I've never done this before so I really need criticism. One of my main goals was to have Perma Dull Pain. Perma hasten was a goal to a lesser exten, but as long as my attack powers have a decently low recharge time (i.e. Lightning Rod) I'd be fine with getting rid of hasten.

Let me know what I should and shouldnt do.

Thanks in advance!

Well first off take at least 1 slot out of hasten any more then 3 is a waist. Put the extra slot in to resist elements and add reactive armor there 4 to give you some more s/l def.

One question is this a respec plan? Even so, taunt at level 49? An invul / EM tanker is a beast thanks to the AOE's they have to play with, leaving taunt way too late there I'd say personally. also looks like money is no object eh? Armageddon? nice!

Also IMHO taking hasten is not worth it either. The EM powers don't take that long to recharge really even without rech reductions.

6 slotting Health too I'm not sure is worth it even to use as a mule for a bonus. 6 slot physical perfection for sure, and also 6 slot dull pain instead.

6 slot Thunderstrike to get the Def bonus from Obliteration, Sacrifice a slot from Charged Brawl if need be.

Lightning Rod, I would have that 6 slotted that with Obliteration for another Def boost bonus.

I don't have time for a thorough build review--maybe tonight.

Suffice to say it needs a lot of changes, and you'd benefit by looking at any of the other Invul build threads in the forum.

Same here, I've looked at the build, the expense on it. Expense tends to weigh better on a Tankers offense, defensively I'd say that an Inv/Elec could be soft capped to all but psi, perma DP, very enjoyable and durable for less. I'd have to look at it later, I have a CoP and stuff to do, but that's what I think can be achieved.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Seriously, look at Call Me Awesome's guid to the defense cap.

Your setup is fairly decent now. But you're wasting a LOT of slots.

Think: 4-slotted reactive armor x5 and 3-slotted Aegis for Resist Elements.
If you already have the two 3% defense uniques, kudos. 5-slot your first two resists (Reactivex4 and then the uniques).

Instead of Crushing Impacts, think 4-slotted Kinetic Combats and then the Mako triple or Quad.

The Shield Wall unique is, frankly, a waste.
The KB protection IO is a complete waste.
Remove a slot from Hasten.

Take a look at this rebuild. Soft-capped PLUS right out of the gate to S/L/E/N. F/C soft-cap with 3 enemies in range.

And where do you go from here? Enzymes where all your single-aspect defense IOs are (though if you replace the LOTG Defense ones you'll lose a chunk of regen).

Even so, just TWO Enzymes would reduce your resting endurance drain by 10%.

I did what I expected to do now that I've finished playing. Hyperstrike met my expectations but I would of done different. If I take an attack I will slot it, because I will use it, particularly AoEs. Also I felt more end rec would be nice to keep moving. For most the game don't need to be anymore than softcapped, when on a trial, being def buffed is likely, if not thats what an insp tray can be for. It took me 5 mins, using a template, could be errors but its only a suggestion not a "accept my reality" type thing. I don't come to the forums to tell people they are wrong.

Thanks again. Getting ready to read a couple ivuln threads. It just seems like there are so many different sets and bonuses in my face that I dont see some obviously better routes. I'll surely get better at this eventually!

There are differences between the builds, but many more similarities. The key is that you should focus on getting at least 45% S/L/E/NE defense with one in range of Invinc. Getting F/C soft-capped is nice too, but a much lower priority.

Some key sets to look for:

4 slots of Reactive Armor for your resistance powers; 3 slots of Aegis is also good once you're soft-capped to S/L/E/NE.

4 slots Kinetic Combat, plus another slot or two for accuracy and damage in your ST attacks. Smashing Haymaker is a cheaper alternative that has half the defense bonus of Kin Combat.

3-4 Eradication in your PBAoE attacks, (3 are needed for the E/NE bonus) plus another slot or two for damage and end reduction.

A full set of Mocking Beratement or Perfect Zinger for Taunt.

Other options, like using LotG in your Defense powers is a good choice but not essential for getting to the soft-cap.

Personally, I think Focused Accuracy is not worth a power pick and Gaussian's is not a good choice for a typed defense build. It takes too many slots for a relatively small return. I'd go with 2 slots of Retified Reticle plus a recharge in Build Up and drop FA for Conserve Power as well.

A more general question...have you costed out all the IOs you have in your original build? Between the purples and the PvP IOs it will be a hugely expensive build, and not any more effective than a less expensive build. I'd ditch both the Glad Armor and Shield Wall uniques first thing, and then use purples only when you've gotten your defense where you want it to be. Having perma Dull Pain and/or perma Hasten is a nice goal, but it doesn't add nearly as much survivability as soft-capped defense.

Well, I managed to get perma-hasten, and DP, but I'm afraid I'd run out of endurance pretty quick with that amount of recharge along with the hasten END crash, and Focused Accuracy's huge end cost.

Oh, and it will also be hugely expensive.

I also tried to slot hover for Fly speed so you can actually use it in combat.

I'd probably go the much cheaper route with a more balanced build with a little of everything, instead of just focusing on recharge. I prefer pretty fast, and steady rather than super fast, and having to take endurance breaks.
