Hey, I made a Generator Girl as well. I can't remember which server she's on, though. Now I need to find out. She's probably been inactive close to 3000 days herself.
  2. Seriously, Ring, you need to do TheRingSlide(tm) one last time before the lights go out. One last Tank sans toggles charge of the light brigade.

I'm trying to remember what was my first TT. It was either the 2nd, or 3rd one. The Legendaries had become coalitioned with BOSS I believe, and Myr had been showing me the ropes of Tanking, and told me about TT. 8 years is a long time to remember.

TT will be THE thing I miss most in CoH, and that is saying alot since I had so much fun playing this game it's ridiculous.

Even when I went Freemium, and tried playing other games, I'd still stop in once or twice a month for TT.

I really wish I had taken more screenies over the years, but here is all the ones took:
    http://s76.beta.photobucket.com/user...nker%20tuesday

TT is where I learned how to be a tank. I had no previous Tanking experience because I'd never played any other MMO before Oct. 2004, and I was much like Fighting Irish those first couple months of playing. No Taunt(actually Provoke in those days), No Unyielding Stance(what?, I can't move when it's on, and I'm not taking TP, forget mez protection), horrible. Thank Tankness Issue 3 came before I had to go through the heart attack of perma-unstoppable.

GDN, ED, aggro caps, Brutes. Nothing they threw at us would stop us from having a tank(better than a blast), and proving Tanks could do anything they set their minds to. No TF, trial, mission was safe from the Tanker onslaught.

I'll probably park Pep on top of the wall in Kings Row near the IP gate holding up the number 5 when the lights go out because that's where she belongs, waiting to get called for that next all tanker TF.

If you haven't already heard, we're gonna try TT over in champions. First one is Dec 4th. There's a Tank HQ channel you can join, along with the CoX one. We're not sure how it'll go, or what we'll do, or whatever, but it'll at least be an excuse to team up with some of the great folks from TT again, especially since teaming is rather limited in that game.

Hope to see you in CoH before the end, and then over in CO after.
    (I'm still in MEGAFORCE channel)

I'm also over in the CoHTitan forums if you go there.

I actually feel the exact opposite is true.

The main thing I remember from when I played DCUO at launch was mashing my mouse buttons, and hoping the combo I wanted to fire actually fired because the difference between a "Hold Mouse Button", and "Tap Mouse Button" seemed to be 1/100th of a second.
If I wanted to use the simple TAP+HOLD attack twice, it would fire the TAP+HOLD+TAP+HOLD attack once, or vice versa.

That along with the non-chat system, no-cursor to interact with the environment, and the limited costume, and power options made me stop playing after the free month.
My main is an invulnerable super strength tank. Why am I forced to take ice powers?

CO is miles better IMO. Yes, it is like COH-lite, or COH for kids, but it is a nice change of pace from CoH, and I would play it when I got burnt out from playing CoH too much.

I actually like the bold outlines. It makes it look more like a comic book. The game does have a more cartoony feel than CoH, though.

I will say that I still like CoH's graphics better even if it's an old engine. I've been paying much more attention to the details since Aug. 31st, and realized I took alot of this game for granted, especially after taking some time off to play other games like DDO, CO, STO, DCUO, WoW, AoC, and GW2 for a week.

I also like how you can tap, or charge up powers in CO, pick up stuff and throw them, and lunge attacks are great. Having almost no cooldown on attacks is nice, but it also means you really only need 1 single target, and 1 AoE attack, which can be a bit boring.

I will miss the toggles in CoH. Being able to select an attack, and have it queued to fire when it recharges is great. This is more directed at WoW, since I find I spend way too much time staring at my power bar, waiting to see which attack is ready, or if one of them procs. Luckily, you don't have to move around too much in combat there.

There always seems to be a trade-off for design decisions. Like being able to choose any Role(Tank, support, damage), and the free-form system in CO is nice because it gives you freedom of options, but it also may be one of the reasons teaming isn't as robust as in CoH. Most people will gravitate to a jack-of-all trades build, and cover any weaknesses they have, so teaming isn't as desirable, and when a team is formed there is no real synergy. I'm not for a strict Holy Trinity-type game, but somewhere in the middle like CoH really balanced it well.

Another factor that seems to hurt teaming in the other MMOs I've played is Open world vs. Instanced.
I've never had much luck getting teams to do open world stuff. Instances seem to be custom made for teams, and most games only use instances for major dungeons/lairs. Having most missions instanced really promoted teaming in CoH IMO, although it would be nice if there was more diversity of maps. Adding new zones would be great for CoH, but I think I'd rather have them make tons of different maps for instances.

Anyways, everybody has there own opinion. I'll be dividing my time between CO, WoW, and maybe STO when the apocalypse happens. If I see ya, I see ya. If not, god speed.
  4. Thanks to the 60, or so tanks that showed up to commemorate the 8 year Anniversary of Tanker Tuesdays. A very good turnout considering the state of the game...

We had an all-tank Sara Moore TF, another TF team, a mission team, and a big league of tanks that took on Monster Island. All this after defeating 3 Paladins at TT Wall in Kings Row...I think I know where Pep will be standing when the lights go out.

Anyways, Tanker Tuesday will be on Justice next week. The complete schedule for the remaining Tuesday is posted in the Tanker Forums under TT Tour.

    It's been an honor.

  5. Hey everybody.

I just like to put out an invitation to any players to Tanker Tuesday #96. TT is CoH's longest running player run event.

#######Meet up on the wall near the Independence Port gate in Kings Row at 9pm EST on Tuesday Oct. 2. ########

You can show up early to hang out.

We don't have much planned this year like some of our anniversaries, like Devs showing up and dropping monsters on us like last year, completing all-tank STFs, or tank parades, and costume contests like we had on the 2nd, and 3rd anniversaries (http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ker%20tuesday/),
but we do plan to smash stuff, and have fun like we do every month(or week if you follow the tour).

    Tentative plans are for:

    1) all-tank Shard TFs with Witty(fun!+long!), lvl 40+ requirement

2)runs of Acemace's AE arc #1755 Night of 1000 tanks where you get to learn about TT, and fight some of it's original attendees/creators( including myself)

    3)mission teams ( I guess #3 can do #2 as well)

The only requirement is you have a Tank on Champion server, and even that second requirement is easily defeated by just transferring a tank to champion, or rolling a lowbie tank. All levels are welcome. We'll throw you on a mission with other tanks, and off you go.

We've had hundreds of tanks gathered for some of the bigger anniversaries, and last year Zwillinger, Avatea, and TheNet showed up .

There's some good pics towards the end of this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...versary&page=4.

I'd like to point your attention to post #81 where KnightofKhonsu completely jinxes TT, and COH, and subsequently causes it's shutdown 1 year later. So blame him. ;p

Anyways, thanks for listening, and I hope to see you all there.

-Pep "will never say die" Rally
^but apparently I can type it

PS. If you can't make this event, and would still like to attend a TT. Here's a schedule for the Tanker Tuesday Tour up until the end:

    10/02/12 Champion
    10/09/12 Justice
    10/13/12 Exalted
    10/16/12 Virtue
    10/20/12 Union
    10/23/12 Victory
    10/30/12 TBA

    11/06/12 Champion
    11/13/12 Justice
    11/17/12 Defiant
    11/20/12 Freedom
    11/27/12 Pinnacle

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295813

edit: Actually, when I say TT#96, that's 96 on Champion server.

There have been in fact many more TT on other servers. Let's see....I ran a tour of all the servers in 2009(+11), and then Warboss/NuclearMedicine from Justice, took over the coordination the last couple years, and really upped the ante with a TT every week, and EU servers every other Saturday(104-24 Tuesdays+ 48 Saturdays =128 TTs).

So a quick estimate, 96+11+128= 235 Tanker Tuesdays on 13 servers over 8 years. Maybe not quite that many, but I think I'm close.

Just thinking about all the fun I've had playing this game, and all the great people I've met, it was truly an honor sharing the virtual battlefield with you all. /salute
  6. Any chance somebody could Demorecord a quick run-thru, and post it on Youtube for us not lucky enough to be VIP? This would actually be great for all of the SSAs.

Most Definitely. A big shout out to the Justice Tanks who are a huge part of keeping the TTTour running week in, week out, and for helping out in KR2 last night, along with all the other TT vets, since alot of us were at our aggro limit last night with the festivities in KR1.

Alot of TT's success, and longevity is due to the community spirit where everyone gets involved to create their own fun, and not just following the lead, and rules of the people running the events. Their is only one rule in Tanker Tuesday, and that is you do not talk about, er..wait, that's not it, it's that you play a tank.

I had a blast last night, but trying to keep up with 4 channels, plus broadcast while trying to read, and judge bios quickly is not my forte. I even won some influence(woot! I was totally broke) as part of the Posi race, and got the badge(proves I'm no ringer since I hadn't run the new Posi yet).

Thanks to everyone that helped out, which includes everyone that came out to have fun, and to the devs for sending 10 Mother Mayhems to murder me while I was typing in chat. Did it have to be Psi? Thanks alot.

Yeah, my mistake. I meant to just say Dual Blades since I was trying to think how Broad Sword could be faster than Mace.

The only thing I can think of is if you use Parry as a filler.

Looking at the sets, these powers are basically the same:

    Hack=Pulverize - 8s recharge, 1.33 cast

    Slash=Bash - 4s rech, 1.33 cast

    Whirling Sword= W. Mace - 14s rech, 2.67 cast

    Disembowel = Jawbreaker - 10s rech, 1.8 cast

Then we have some with the same cast times, but different rech, and damage:

    Headsplitter = Shatter - 2.33 cast, but 14s/108 to 12s/95 recharge/damage

    Slice = Crowd Control - 2s cast, but 8s/51 to 12s/67

All that's left is Parry, and Clobber.

    Parry - 1.33s cast, 3s rech, 35 dmg

    Clobber- 1.23s cast, 16s rech, 122 dmg

They are really almost identical in casting times, with just minor differences in the 2 cone attacks, and 1 major one in Parry->Clobber.

I guess having that huge damage/long recharge attack(clobber) instead of the fast recharging defense buff power(Parry) can make a difference in feel early on, but once you get more recharge, and more attacks to fill out an attack chain Mace should end up with more DPS.

  10. It would help if you could post your build. We might be able to spot the cause of your problem.

I find that I do much better early on by slotting my attacks up first before my toggles, especially if I'm soloing. At SO levels, that would be 1 ACC, 1 END, 3 DMG, 1 RECH.

Also, how many toggles are you running? You shouldn't need Tough/Weave until later on. CJ should be enough with the 3 SD toggles.
  11. My question would be, do you need Pyre for concept reasons, because Elec should have enough AoE attacks that you shouldn't need Fireball.

My Elec/ Elec melts through mobs pretty fast with just Lightning Rod, chain induction, and Thunderstrike.

A build like this might be a good alternative:

If you're set on taking Pyre then I'd definitely try to 6 slot fireball by moving it up a power slot by dropping Spring Attack, and taking SoW, or resurgence at 49. 5 positrons + 1 lvl 50 RECH IO is a good option for Fireball.

    SR/MA build

I made a SR/MA so I've been working on a few builds. This one just goes for as much DEF as possible, with good enhancement+ damage procs in every attack. Probably overkill.

I may work on a few more with Aid SELF, and maybe another AoE attack like Spring Attack, or Fireball since MA only has one PBAoE depending on how my survivabilty, and offensive performance is with these types of builds. Not sure I even want to keep the fighting pool. My softcapped BS/SR scrapper does pretty well with Aid Self instead.

Hope these at least give you some ideas.

  14. Here's a different build where I tried to include all the Primary, and secondary powers while using cheaper sets. It should do pretty good in normal content, but Incarnate stuff would probably hurt without soft capped defense.

Multistrike is a good PBAoE set to go for if you want cheap. It gives good enhancement, and some melee, and AoE DEF in the 5, and 6 slots.

Endurance Recovery won't be that great without the Numina, and Miracle uniques, but it is heavily slotted for End Redux.

I hope it gives you some ideas to work with.

  15. Now that I finally got back on to the forums, I can relay Warboss's message:

Tanker Tuesday Euro edition is this Saturday(9/17) on Defiant. Meet at IP gate in King's Row at Noon PT/3 pm ET/8 pm BST. All Tanks Welcome. See you all there.
  16. Well, I managed to get perma-hasten, and DP, but I'm afraid I'd run out of endurance pretty quick with that amount of recharge along with the hasten END crash, and Focused Accuracy's huge end cost.

Oh, and it will also be hugely expensive.

I also tried to slot hover for Fly speed so you can actually use it in combat.

I'd probably go the much cheaper route with a more balanced build with a little of everything, instead of just focusing on recharge. I prefer pretty fast, and steady rather than super fast, and having to take endurance breaks.

I messed up, and took Combat Jumping later than I usually would have, but it's late, and I didn't want to move all the slots.

You could alternately drop hurl for Unstop, hasten, or superspeed which would free up some slots so you could 6 slot Jab, and Air Superiority so you could keep the slotting you have with the Pulverizing fisticuffs.
Actually, I'd just add two slots to each, and slot them like I did Haymaker. You don't want to lose the S/L defense from Kinetic Combat.

I know you lose some Psi resists/def, but you more than make up for it everywhere else.

    Hope this helps.

If you're starting from scratch, I'd go with either Champion(home of TT for 82 months, 7 year anniversary in Oct!), or Justice(2nd longest continuous TT, and home to many tank enthusiasts), because they have TT every month.

As for this past TT:Champion, I had lots of fun on my elec/elec on the ITF. I got to level 47, so it won't be long before she joins my Inv/SS, Stone/stone, Fire/Fire, and Shield/mace at 50. Sorry, I didn't get to say goodnight on TankHQ because my computer froze right after the TF ended.
  19. Yeah, I thought so. Well, then I'd go with this:

You could switch out all the Smashing Haymakers with Kinetic Combats if you have the money, or split them half+half with Crushing Impacts to get more recharge since you'll still be at soft cap.

You can add LotG +Recharge instead of DEF IOs, and add some of those +Rec, and +Reg uniques into Health, and Physical Perfection.

I do have a question for the flying tanks. Can you Foot Stomp while hovering? I can't remember, but that could be a problem where you'd have to use a macro to turn off hover, and foot stomp. If so, I might rework it to add maneuvers back instead of Assault.

I've been using the CJ+Hover on my Invul/Mace, and I like it, but none of it's attacks require you be on the ground.

    Budget Build(s)

I haven't checked the prices at Wentworth's in months, so hopefully the same sets that were cheap then, are still cheap.

For me, I'd go with a balanced budget build. Something like this:

You'd really want to have Kinetic Combat sets in your attacks instead of the Smashing Haymakers, but they may be out of your budget. You can always substitute them later if you get the cash.

6 slotting Icicles with 3 Cleaving Blow, and 3 Eradication would also give you a nice boost to ENG/NEG defense to get you closer to the 59% defense trial soft cap I've been hearing about.

I added Aid Self because of my experience with my Invul on the Keyes TF I had today. I just didn't have enough regen to overcome the constant 1500+ damage from the 30 second pulses while trying to tank without healing. Dull Pain just wasn't up enough, and I'd imagine the same would happen to Ice with Hoarfrost. Just do the old Footstomp then Aid Self trick if you start to get low on health.
I may have to respec back into medicine as well like back in issue...10?...I can't even remember, it's been so long.

    Anyways, I hope this helps.

I enjoyed HP7, although I would have liked some parts to be more like the book, but I understand it would have made it like 4 hours long. I never read the books. Books on Tape FTW.

As for 3D, I'm not impressed. I went to see Captain America today, and it turned out it was in 3D. Still looks like a few layers of 2D image cutouts like with the blue, and red glasses my parents used when they were kids.
BTW, Cap was awesome! I can't wait for the Avengers movie.

I wish I could make the first TTT:European Vacation, but I'm gonna be helping re-roof my parents' cottage in Maine. Fun. I guess it'll be mine eventually, but hopefully not for a long time.

    Tank ON!
