Okay I've found a way to work in Episode 11 of "Ask Captain Catastrophe" into YouTube, so for those of you who didn't or couldn't check it out on MySpace, here's the YouTube version.
Episode 11a
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ru-nSOfRXU
Episode 11b
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEnxSy82NZE
And there are annotation links connecting the two parts so you can click to go from one to the other.
I also came up with a quick Intermission video that will show some of the changes I'll be implementing to the whole series. I came up with this partly out of frustration (writers block sucks!) trying to find a way to finish Episode 12, so once that is done I'll be putting that one through production and getting it out ASAP.

BUT it could have been worse... I could have been....
RIKTIROLLED!!!!!
But the rest of the vidoes are great and I've already included them in the Chronicles about i16.

Excellent! Thanks for putting it out there. I've added it to the Chronicles as a demonstration of what i16 will (hopefully) show.

Quote:Uh, Brantley slept with his aunt. That was the REAL "secret".They just rearranged their office cubes, according to some twitter posts... and they're getting rather big-- to the point that not every department will know everything going in the other departments.
Time to pull a Brantley Foster. Just show up at their offices, set up in one of the unused cubicles, and start pretending like you've been working there for weeks. After you carve out your little niche, wait a week or two, then complain to HR about a payroll glitch.
Then, when you're fully established, remind them that I'm still telecommuting from Pennsylvania and try to get me a redname.
Having said that, though, if DR does manges to do that and pull it off....PLEASE BRING ME ALONG!!! -
Quote:And here I was going to say....Well, Ultimus, if it helps... I've already begun storyboarding out a GR teaser AND trailer. If I can scrounge the funds to license the music I need, I think I can manage something quite spiffy.
"Well the person who would be best for the job would be Dark Respite/Samuraiko, but she stopped doing these videos and NCSoft doesn't want to hire her."
But now that you're giving a go at it, DR... WOO-HOO!!!! That's the best news yet! -
Quote:All the more the reason to say...Yep, never gonna be as popular as whatshisname, even with me constantly picking up spammer followers. *sigh*
And I lost my real job yesterday. Which means lots of time to make videos now, but no money.

The Faultline Easter Egg is a nice little hiding place. Two folks with Cryptic shirts (I won't say who they are because it'll ruin the surprise) may or may not be there to greet you. I just wish the jukebox would play better music.

I like the idea of a vehicle power, especially for the natural or technology-based character. I've always wondered why we would get an Arachnos or Longbow vehicle as a Veteran's Reward and not be able to use it for anything other than as an oversized base trophy.
But I would first like to see us be able to ride on top of one of the moving vehicles already in-game.
Oh, and I do have to agree with Bill on one thing... the radio is not a good use of a power. -
Quote:Spider-Man either swings across a bridge or he hitches onto a boat. Good luck getting on a moving boat in Paragon City... you'd have a better chance with the blimp.
This has been suggested before, but bears repeating. As does a Swinging travel power. Although I have NO idea how you'd do that over the water... -
Quote:You can use a bind command for the initial flight. The flight poses are beastly to use. You have to be moving forward, you have to implement the pose emote, and if you stop, you'll have to do the emote again to change to the pose you want once more. I think that, more than anything else, is why they aren't used. If it was easier to implement a different flight pose (via a menu, a variable set via /command, or some other method other than what we currently have), they'd probably see a lot more use.
For instance:
/bind T powexec_name Fly$$em flypose2
That would mean if you hit the T button on your keyboard, the fly power would be turned on and then would go right into flypose #2.
More information on bind commands are here:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Bind
The downside is you'd have to engage the flypose again if you stop. Another option is to create a bind command for the flypose and then click on it when you engage flight.
For the record, I try to engage my alts in different fly poses whenever possible.

The workaround on that (and yes, it probably should be in a different thread) would probably be to include the travel powers in Issue 16's power customization, which would allow you to change the default flight emote. (Maybe that would be an Issue 17 fix?) -

Quote:1. You give an interesting way to back into the option.I have seen alot of people suggest walking over the years, but like all other things that have been and will be implemented into the game, people with bigger brains than myself has always said, "It will never happen, stop asking." Sorry to be a bit bitter here, but I always knew those people were full of it. I can not count the things we have in this game that was told to us, "it will never happen" yet here we are.
So on that note, I believe I have discovered a way to make the Walking for us as players possible. We were looking at this the wrong way. we were asking for Walk as an option, but it never occured to anyone (at least not to my knowledge) that if it were implemented as a self debuff power combined with a walking animation, it could be possible to implement. Much like sprint, it is a buff that increases your speed, so now we can instead have a new power called, "Walk" which is nothing more than a movement speed debuff, another toggle that debuffs your speed and has with it a walking animation.
In light of this, do you guys and gals think this would be workable?
2. Don't confuse the brains of the naysayers with bs. I seem to recall the same kind of "/no" responses when it came to power customization (Issue 16), changing body type/height/gender (Super Booster: Superscience), and switching allegiances (Going Rogue), all of which are either about to be implemented or are already in place. -
I know. I tried. The only way to get around the limit is if you get a PARTNERSHIP account. Which means being setup for AdSense, and then they have to determine whether or not the hits you get at any given time are WORTH giving me that kind of status.
And of course the ONLY videos that get any kind of significant hits are the ones of me giving Dark endless praises and chiding NCSoft for not hiring her. -
Quote:Kudos, Tony. If you didn't offer it, I was going to suggest something like it.For what it's worth, I still have the pcfreepress.com domain that's been dormant for years now. The original intention was to create a reporter-themed supergroup with stories to support the site and bolster interest in the group. I wrote several stories (some of which I thought were quite good
), but it just got to be too much work and didn't draw as much interest as I had hoped.
The name "Paragon City Free Press" actually has some serendipitous history to it. In the first City of Heroes novel Web of Arachnos, Monica Richter (aka Maiden Justice, Statesman's wife, Ms. Liberty's grandmother, Lord Recluse's sister) was a reporter for a newspaper called the Paragon City Free Press. (For the record, though, I registered the domain well before the novel was published, I didn't steal the name.)
If using the new forums is just not practical for whatever reason and you want to use that domain name and install some CMS software (e.g. Joomla!, PostNuke, etc.) or roll out your own software, let me know. You can even have the logo if you want it.The only thing I'd ask is that if you ever decide to move off of the domain, transfer it back to me. With its history, I don't want it to end up a porn site or ad parked site.

So what? That doesn't detract from the point of the message.

I was going through selling items at Wentworth's when I began to wonder what the retail price was of some of the items being bought and sold.
For instance, I rarely auction recipes. I'll take it to a store and sell it there because often I'll get a much better price for them. I've found this to be true especially true for the non-invention recipes (i.e. flight, damage, accuracy, etc.).
But there are some items where you have to wonder whether you're getting a good price for them.
So my suggestion is this: how about having a suggested retail price in the item description?
For Wentworths, have it called the Wentworth Retail Listing.
For the Black Market, have it called the Arbiter Retail Value.
This would be listed at the bottom of the item description screen when you put an item up for bidding, and it would be the price that you would get if you were to take the item to a regular store to sell it.
For instance, let's say you're a blue-sider and you have a luck charm in your salvage bin. You take it to Wentworth's and you drop it into the bidding slot. In the item description window (after you click the "MORE" button) it gives a quick listing of what the item is, and then at the bottom of the window it gives the "Wentworth Retail Listing" at 425i.
In other words, if you put it back into your salvage bin and took it to a store or a quartermaster or sold it to one of your contacts, you'd get 425 influence.
Of course luck charms have a great market value, so when you look at the bidding history and you see that recently these things have sold for 10,000i or even as high as 125,000i, then you know you would be better off putting it up for bidding than to sell it at retail value.
But let's suppose the market tanks on luck charms. It COULD happen. You check the history and it says the most the luck charm has been sold for recently is 100i. That's not to say that the auction price wouldn't go back up to 10,000i, or that someone wouldn't just mad-drop 50,000i just to guarantee the purchase. It just says that right now you would probably get more if you took it to the store instead of auctioning it and hoping it would bring the price up.
Obviously there would be some items that you can't sell to a store. 2nd and 3rd-tiered inspirations quickly come to mind. In those situaions, the retail price would be seen as "N/A".
I know that giving an on-screen retail price would create an artificial bottom for prices, especially for the low-valued items. Bear in mind, though, that even though the LISTED price would be seen, it wouldn't be a requirement. Caveat Emptor still rules the markets. The real price would STILL be what the market will bear. This would just be a helpful guide for those who don't have more than one computer at their gaming disposal.

Now, prior to sending this post, I searched the forums on this subject and found quite a few threads about trying to make sense of the markets.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=123821
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=142176
and even a Salvage Price Guide
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=121013
and a few posts about wanting to merge Wentworths and the Black Market, which apparently is not popular.
But I have not seen any mention for this kind of idea. So for those who take perverse pride in thread-killing ideas by saying "Search is your friend", FRAG YOU!
For the rest of the people... Agree? Disagree? (No /signed or /unsigned or /jrangers please.)
