I don't find this list to be very accurate.
I can't believe any sane person would rank DAoC over CoH/V. -
Are "Lush" and "Gill" the actual character names?
I seem to have the impression those are their board names...
It would be nice to know actual character names if not "Lush" and "Gill", thanks. -

Well the one "we never play" is only one of two zones, Faultline or Boomtown.
[/ QUOTE ]
Faultline matches that description better than Boomtown. Several contacts send you to mission doors in Boomtown. There's only a few kill X missions in Faultline.
[/ QUOTE ]There are MISSIONS in Faultline?!I never remembered anything like that....
[/ QUOTE ]
Hunt X number of villians. No door missions though.
[/ QUOTE ]Hunt missions don't count... they're just freeebie xp for doing what you normally do in zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I only ever racked up DEBT in Faultline. Imagine a "Hunt 15 Vahz" mission, and every Vhaz minion conning blue/white, with at least 2 bosses in every spawn.
I do remember attempting to streetsweep with a group in Faultline ... once. Vahz are not a good MOB for that. It was worse than being level 7 and hunting Hydra in PP. -
You know you are in a good PUG when...
1. The team leader says "we have a debuffer and a buffer (bubbler), we're set!"
2. The team leader says "nah, we're good with 5 people, we'll kick [censored]!" -
Personally I dislike the equivalent of "I hate you!":
"You Suck!"
I think the problem is that with the medium we are dealing with, typed words, the tone/voice/inflections of friendly banter are completely missing.
That being said, it is a simple fact of life that not everyone can be a Rembrandt, a Michaelangelo, or a Da Vinci. That also being said, Rembrandt wasn't necessarily Rembrandt, Michaelangelo wasn't necessarily Michaelangelo, nor was Da Vinci - Da Vinci.
All you have is yourself, and you have to do the things that make you happy, and success should never be measured in comparison to others. -

I agree...this would be really cool to have an arena type of thing where people/villains/heroes can place bets on who would win (like Kronos vs Paladin or what have you).

10,000 Quatloos on the Newcomer!
I just love saying that.
Anyone try and get Lusca to fight one of the GM's?
Impossible GM fights would include:
Deathsurge v. Babbage
Paladin v. Kraken
Ghost of Scrapyard v. Adamastor
I'd love to see the villain GMs get in on this action. -
You waaaaay oversimplify.
Breaking LoS in 4 seconds isn't nearly as likely as you suggest, and likely to require more than A, W, S, D, or whatever you have your movement keys set to.
Attacking a Stalker within the 4 seconds and actually hitting is quite unlikely too. Stalker defenses are just too high.
Even moving erratically so as to avoid stalkers from getting in a shot from a predictable path isn't likely to help.
Teleport Foe, which I am very much against in its current iform, amplifies how unlikely movement is going to keep you from getting AS'd.
What I will give you, is that if you are constantly moving, if AS'd, you are more likely to avoid the follow-up, or at least have a chance of getting away. This means nothing for those who have too few hps, and are subject to be one-shot, however.
Nothing funnier than the number of Stalkers who have cursed me out for "not standing still", and running after an AS. Its also amazing how many times the same idiots forget that they were able to get their followup off, and level me. In fact, the worst sports are the Stalkers who can't conceive that their prey got away, after using an AS (whether it was perfectly done or not).
Most fun I've ever had is being truly stalked by a stalker, and trying not to give him a shot of AS while finding my own bounty target. Second most fun has to have been for the stalker, running around the zone after me, knowing that he either had to outthink my pattern or might only have a few second window of opportunity to get me.
Both sides could use to be more prepared, but I see Teleport Foe as too powerful at this time, and it definitely seems to be most useful in the hands of a Stalker in PvP. -
I have to agree that there is more possibility of Influence as compared to Infamy, in my limited game-play thus far.
Its not that I'm *shorted* Infamy, its that there is simply a better way to get Influence in CoH.
Pirates and their[Censored] withstanding, here are some things I remember:
1. If I solo'd, and sold ALL my TOs through level 12, I would have about 70-80K Influence in CoH.
2. I'm at level 10, and have done the same thing on my Fire/Dark Corruptor, and have about 35-37K Infamy. Not sure if this will double in 2 levels, but its a pretty good bet.
3. DOs are rewards for 20-24 Story Arcs, and SOs are rewards for 25-29 Story Arcs. Look to utilize DOs and SOs from story arcs in specific enhancement spots, particularly when you go up to an odd numbered level and gain additional enhancement slots.
4. Solo Green Con Bosses with Hostages provide the best Inf/hr without leveling too quickly.
5. There's always debt. There's always malefactor. There's always playing without filling every enhancement slot in every power.
Hope this helps!
Oh, and I agree that the heist after a broker is filled would be a great way to bring an increase in Infamy. -
I'm personally hoping for:
City of give me a good reason to go to Faultline
or
City of Boomtown isn't just a place to look for Babbage
or
City of we fixed CoH to be just as good as CoV now
Ok, I'm not actually picking at CoH, but I really hope they spruce up the original game package, instead of expanding. I got so tired of DAoC and many of the old zones which were never touched again, yet all the better graphics and better mob AI went to new expansions, and thus the original game zones became an unpopulated shell... -

I'm not sure if any powerset has claims of being better, but there are tons of cries fer nerfs on Assasin's Strike. (The 'backstab'-type attack, if you are not aware.)
[/ QUOTE ]
I assumed that Assassin's Strike was closer to Perforate Artery.
But, without buffbots, will Stalkers ever become what the unholy trio became to DAoC? -
So, did anyone play any of the above in DAoC?
Which one do you feel that a Stalker most closely represents?
Has any one powerset been declared as better than any other, and have people asked for it to be nerfed yet?
Thanks for answering these burning questions! -

Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP. The Resistance kicks in at 60% HP (when HP bar first changes color) and markedly increases at 40% and 20% (again, when the bar changes color). We have not yet determined the exact values.
[/ QUOTE ]
I haven't read the whole thread, so there's probably a lot of good information here, and I hope I don't repeat it.
The idea of a scheduled resistance added to the passive powers has a fundamental flaw. It skews the necessity of taking both toggles and passives for defense to just get coverage.
If the resistances are high enough to make the set useful, the passives will be selected first, and when the toggles follow the character will become too strong. If the resistances are balanced for all 6 toggles and passives to be taken and slotted, it leaves the SR scrapper hamstringed well into his mid/high 30's.
SR has 3 passives and 3 toggles just to cover defenses. With the toggles effectiveness being higher, and thus enhanced effectiveness greater, they are the defenses an SR need to take first to achieve some survivability. Now, the set is being balanced on the presumption all 6 basic defenses will be taken, yet a player can't afford to sink that many powers into defense early, especially since they will also be taking Practiced Brawler and Quickness to attempt to fill in some performance gaps.
Sorry, but this is another bad idea stacked on SR's need to take all the defensive powers (which costs the SR scrapper offense).
If you want to add resistance, add resistance in its own power and balance it appropriately. Combine all 3 passive Defense powers so the Scrapper can actually get coverage (AoE specifically) at an early enough level. Balance this value appropriately. Adjust the toggles such that they bring about a final value for the end game. It will still cost the SR scrapper 5 powers to get full coverage (3 DEF toggles, 1 DEF passive, 1 RES passive). And because of the scaling effect of accuracy and defense, it won't be overpowering even if an SR scrapper takes all defenses as quick as possible. Lastly, with an extra power slot in SR, a small amount of self-regen can be added, or something totally different.
But, for the love of all that is probability, don't make me take passives over toggles just so I can get resistances and supposedly be *balanced*. Don't make me take all 6 defenses at the cost of offensive capability. -
Why is the Manticore avatar so short?
No, I'm not buying that it is so that people underestimate him, nor will I read about it and more in the upcoming book... -

So then it's just a theory that the earth revolves around the sun, and not a scientifically proven fact?
[/ QUOTE ]
The earth revolving around the sun is an observation.
Newton's Law is a Theory, which is at the basis as to why the earth revolves around the sun. Keplar's Law is a Theory which better explains the actual mechanics of earth/sun interaction, within Newton's frame.
Once you move out of a Newtonian reference frame, the Theories break down.
Also, I'm guessing the book would probably be just as good if it was written by Mark Weinberg (Marky Mark).
Lastly, Manticore is short. Very short. Everytime I go by him in Brickstown, I make sure to mention that "I thought he'd be taller". -
Supergroup Name: Pinnacle of Justice
Website: No Website that I know of.
Leader or Recruiting Officers: I always stick Curt and Vicki with those decisions
Preferred Method of Contact: Log on a Tuesday, play with us, or know Curt and Vicki in RL.
Guild Description: I always assumed they started as Justice of Pinnacle on Justice Server and moved here for whatever reason. As far as I can tell, the guild is completely composed of RL friends of Curt and Vicki, or people they played DAoC with on Alb/MLF. So, if you are from Alb/MLF and are looking for a home, this might be the guild for you! I think they will take anyone from MLF, unless you were one of the jerks. Oh, and they play real casual-like, every Tuesday or every-other Tuesday. -

Given the date, I thought I should post something. However, one of these things is not true.
<ul type="square"> Icon doesn't operate in CoV territory. If you want a costume change, you go to the Facemaker.
Killer mimes.
There are 5 new archetypes in CoV.[/list]
I love being evil!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if one of these things is not true, it could be the statement that one of these things is not true, and it could be the statement that Lord_Recluse loves being evil.
I've read the 4 AT thing as well, and I think that's a serious can o' worms due to the fact that Villains will then be tighter ATs than Heroes, thus leading to a whole new problem.
As far as Killer Mimes go, think about it, we Heroes run around cities stopping crime. What would villains do? Run around cities causing mayhem, but it must be in a fun manner. Who are we going to run into and yet still maintain fun-factor?
1. Mimes, damn annoying, nobody likes them.
2. Lawyers, can you imagine saving some citizen from being served legal papers?
3. Skaters, their just punk wannabes who need to be taken down.
4. Religious Right, they are just annoying propheteers who also happen to be profiteers.
5. Telemarketers, need I say more?
Basically, take any really annoying group that you would like to pummel, put them in CoV, and you have instant success without any of the stigma of games like Grand Theft Auto and such. This will still be a game based on comic books.
