Quote:One trail? I havn't been able to get on any the last two nights. The queue doesn't do anything (at least in off peak time). I was hoping it would at least be a cross-server queue system.I just wish I could get more than one trial a night. And those have to be done with server channel. Queue seems useless.
Normally there is only around 5 to 10 level 50's on my server at the time I play (more maybe hidden offcourse). I would be lucky to see any TF started during my normal time, maybe I get to see about one a month.
I was luckly enought to have a "sick" day on Monday and managed to get on 5 trails during prime US time (all failed but where still fun), but I won't be able to do that again for a few months
I guess I could try moving to the two big servers, but I have too much to give up for that (SG, 30+ characters etc).
I'll just have to look forward to any weekends that I manage to get free I guess. -
Quote:Hold on, I thought the Devs made a big point about you not needing any particular ATs for these trails? What you 'need' to easily success: 6 control archetypes(dom/troller/anything with an aoe mez) Put one at each spawn point.
I think I was on the same attempts as the OP, and each attempt we tried seem to be different. One seem to spawn heaps more escapees then the other attempts, one seem to go on for more than five minutes and another saw the 20 escape in the first 45 seconds somehow.
They were all still fun for me, and I don't think anyone else got upset or quit at all was pretty much the same 24 players each attempt with just a couple swapping characters to try and help.
My biggest concern is that this was all during US prime time which I could only try because I had a day off work. However, in my normal time later that night I joined the queue and no trails started for the two hours I was playing. Made it a pretty boring night, not to be able to enter any mission etc.
Hopefully that doesnt become the norm, but I wouldnt be surprised if it does. -
I only have 4 level 50's (heaps of alts around 20 to 30 but) and I've resigned myself that although Ive done the unlock arc on all 4 50s, only one of them will advance any further.
Yes, I've stop playing the others for similar reasons as the OP stated. However, on the other hand I've found playing my low level alts is fun again. Mainly as a side effect of having to respec them all (as most of them took fitness) and therefore ending up with more skills at the lower levels to try out.
I'm very reluctant to do a TF with one of my other 50's now, not only do they seem less capable but also I worry they won't be helping the team enough, or Ill be playing them wrong etc. But then again I only ever really grouped with my main character anyway so in a strange way nothing has changed, but it sure feels like it has. -
Same here, if it uses any peer to peer packets then they will be blocked by my ISP.

Maybe we should have a thread about badge counts for those that really havn't gone out of their way looking for badges but just got them along the way. That way my 887 would start looking pretty good.. hehe
And congrats to all that get over 1,200 (regardless how you count them), I envy you! -
Congrats!
I thought I had only one more day job badge to go, then then I moved to Red side and now I'm working on the final couple there. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't add new badges -
I pretty much just use SOs for the majority of my characters, I have about 5 that I use generic IO's on and even then I didn't brother until around level 40 and I only really have 3 characters that I've ever brother with IO sets and only one has purples.
Most of my characters go into the high 30's before I even look at filling any slot apart from just slotting what drops along the way. I played one my characters that I havent use for quite a while last night and got a bit of a shock when I realise he didn't have a single enchantment (of any type) at level 20. Obviously, I must not had any problems when I was levelling him.
I have to agree with most of the comments above. -
I happy to assume any variation is because of the random chance, if I begin to think it’s anything else I just may go mad
Not sure if it hopes, but below is my history of drops since completing the arc to open up the slot.
First mission solo – 4 shards (first thoughts, this is great)
Second mission solo – 1 shard (ok not as fast but still reasonable maybe)
Third mission solo – 1 shard (is this a pattern?)
First SF – 14 shards (great!)
At this point I slotted my first common.
Second SF – 8 shards (still great)
4th to (something like) 40th Solo mission – 2 shards total (not great but at least they kind of dropping)
Third SF – 6 shards (kind of what I expected)
At this point I slotted my uncommon and rare
41st to (something like 100th solo mission) – Nil shards (WTF?)
Fourth SF – 1 shard (well it’s better than none)
~ 101st solo mission – 2 shards (at least they are dropping again)
I normally do missions on 0/x4 with bosses on, a combination of level 50 newspaper, mayhem and tip missions. None of the solo ones where "speed runs". The 4th SF was called a "speed run" but didn't really work out that way as no one had both stealth and TP. I also did two of the patron power arcs.
During this time I did as many TFs (or SF now that I’ve swap to villain side) as I’ve done in the previous six years.
I didn’t record the number that drop after every single mission and the number of missions may not be exact, but they should be pretty close (based on time played and average number of mission per hour etc).
I’ve done as many TFs as I can handle for a while now, so I’m hoping I don’t hit such a long run of bad luck solo again.
Edit: I counted wrong in one place. -
Quote:True, but it's likely that they will lose a lot of subs before they do. I never thought I would consider stop playing over of a new issue, but for some irrational reason it starting to look like I will.Well, hopefully these costs that people are mentioning get changed to something rational.
Not just because I prefer solo play, but the fact they keep trying to allay peoples fears by saying dont worry there will be solo path as well, then come out with these ridiculous systems where yes technically you can solo, but it will take you months to get anywhere. I can only think that they assume that people will see this (solo for six months, or group and get the same advancement in two hours) and start grouping more, and yes thats true for some players. I myself have done more TFs the last three week then Ive done in the last 6 years (and I apologise to those teams where I had no idea what I was doing).
Then there is the mention of using ridiculous amounts of Inf in the advancement. Yes, 2B Inf may not be much for some, but for most solo or casual players (and please dont get hang up on the terms) thats a hell of lot Inf they will never get. Ive played for 6 years and the total amount of Inf Ive gain would be less then 1.5B (and yes thats a complete guess). Offcourse there is one way I could get more Inf in a hurry start grouping and doing TFs more and around and around we go.
I can understand they are worry about people exploiting the system and getting Incarnate advancement faster using the Solo method then via teaming. But the very people that are likely to use the Solo path to their advantage are not the true solo players. Why disadvantage everyone for what a few will do? Surely something like a increase drop rate but also a maximum number on the number of Shards/Threads etc per hour would be a better method of control?
I also understand that to Solo I dont need the new Incarnate advancement, but call it a irrational fear or whatever I still want to advance, no one wants to be the poor kid that always misses out.
And finally I also realise that all these stated figures may just be taken out of thin air and all just a big joke, we can only hope.
Ill just have to try and hang in there and maybe stop reading the forums will help. -
Thanks, I thought I did have the boss in a seperate group, but I'll check again tonight.
-
I went back and ran one of my own missions I created ages ago and got a bit of a surprise. After I defeated one of the required boss mobs in the mission I kept running into her again further into the map (5 or 6 times). I didnt design it this way, but in one way it fitted into the mission right, her dying words are always something like Ill be back
Is this normal, has there been some change in the last year or so that I now have to select to make sure a boss only appears once? -
May be something going on, the first couple of nights after unlocking the slot I was getting about one a mission. Since then I havent gotten a single one.
I don't do TFs (mainly due to playing time, normally get on an hour before daily shutdown) so I didn't expected to be able to craft anything for awhile, but even so I expected to see a higher drop.
Somehow I'll have to do some TFs to get the other items that I'll need one day. I thought they said that all slots will be able to be crafted from shards, but if I read it right, that's not the case anymore. So if I want to upgrade my Alpha slot I'll have to do some TFs.
Going to be strange doing a TF after about 5 years (did many when the game first started, but not since all my friends moved on to other games).
PS: Not that I need the best Alpha Slot possible, happy with my character how it is.. but we can all dream -
Gah, I've been so busy at work the last month or so I haven’t had any time to play COH. I think I logged into half of my characters at the beginning of the month but never completed it (I only have about 90 alts).
Oh well not that it matters anyway, at least I pretty sure I got it on my main characters with the most badges.
I think I only have the one character that I've managed to get every anniversary badge for, and it's one I haven’t really played for a good four years now. I've always left him at level 30 or so, hoping that one day all my friends that he use to group with will come back to the game. Sadly, so far they haven't. -
This is interesting, I'm finding that this issue as improved my performance. Which is very odd as I have old graphic cards that supposedly would not work with UM (7800gtx in SLI).
When I logged on last night I expected to see many of the problem mentioned above. However, what I found was:
Less lag then before the issue.
No snap-back, including when I zone (I use to always get at least one snap-back not long after zoning).
There was no delay in opening the auction UI (there use to be about a 30 second pause the first time I used the auction UI on each character).
I can turn on all of the new graphic options with no noticeable increase in lag (although a couple of them don't seem to do anything). I like the water reflection option the best.
I guess, Ill just count myself lucky and hope no future changes causes any problems. -
On my dark/dark defender called Darkness, how could I not take it
Like others haved said the main reason would be character concept. -
Something that happen to me last night.
I had posted a purple for 45M. No problem there, however I then moved some salvage to the next slot and when I went to move the sliding bar to select how many to post it picked up the purple that I just posted (the slider bar shows over the top of the previous slot). Because I wasnt playing attention I dropped the enchantment into a blank area of my screen which affectively put it back in my enchantment bar. Goodbye 2.25M posting fee
Hopefully, I wont do that again. -
Thanks guys.
It seems I was indeed having some very bad luck. But the thing about random rolls is that all streaks, bad or good, must one day come to an end.
Last night the first thing I did was change my setting to spawn mobs for 6 players at normal level (Previously I had set it to spawn for 4 players).
The first mission I tried was more difficult then normal (I died once), but on the seventh mob in the mission the first recipe dropped and, as luck would have it, it was a purple(Armageddon chance of fire damage)
By the end of the mission another six recipes dropped (four generic IOs and two other set ones).
So either the Luck Gods of COH read my post and felt sorry for me, or you guys have the right idea and upping the number of players makes all the difference.
So thanks for your advice and Ill keep doing solo large group sized missions. -
Some questions about recipes and drop rates.
Im one of those players that leaves the game for a few months then comes back for a couple of months, then etc etc
Ive only just come back for a couple of weeks after quite some months away from the game. A lot has happen in that time, so Im not sure if Im just having bad luck or something has changed with the recipes drop rates.
Over the last two weeks Ive been doing mainly solo Radio missions. After the first night back I did some reading and changed my settings to 1/+4. Since then Ive done about 30 missions (including at least 3 safeguards ones) but I have only gotten a grand total of four recipes to drop. Three of which where just normal level 50 IO ones.
Is this just bad luck, or has the drop-rate been changed that much?
And if so, whats the main way to get a reasonable chance of a purple drop these days?
Unfortunately, I play odd hours so the chance of joining groups or TFs is very rare, so I hope doing TFs isnt the only answer. -

* Any CRAFTED item that HAS NOT changed in placement price (teleporters) that you presently have stockpiled can be held on to for later placement. They will still work.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I understand all this right... If haven't made all the teleporters yet but enough salvage to do so (due to lack of room space), I would be advised to make them now and hold them in inventory?
The same however wont be a good idea for other items?
Just checking, as Im not sure I read everything right. -

Almost always when I get a tell from someone asking to join my team (and it happens quite often), they never say their AT or level and when I look they will be a number of levels below whatever mission we are doing. No one seems to want join teams at their own levels.
On the other-hand it seems then when I'm not on a team and someone sends me a tell asking to join theirs, they give out full details - mission level, zone etc. which is good.
