Green /regen is GONE. And so is that yellow /wp crap. -

THe only thing I'm worried about is the one article I read that said "with power customization comes people hurling brown fireballs to resemble fecal matter..." (paraphrased). God lets hope someone doesnt make that hero "Sh!tman" or "Skidmark"....
[/ QUOTE ]
Those two will be first out of the gate, as they all collide in a doorway a la the Three Stooges with Fecal-Matter Man. [sigh]
Which is why all variants of brown or yellow should not be avaliable as custom colors. I realize that kind of sucks for people with earth-themed characters, but I think we can safely say at this point the the playerbase has zero desire or self-discipline to police itself.
Unless they want to enable right-click-off re buffs, which would also be ok with me. -

Oh, cry me a river.
I get a lot of static from different people here- so what.

The difference is that "static" pertains to only you. People being told to leave the game hurts everyone in the long run, because we may lose subscribers if someone hears that enough times. -

Bull[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS].
There is a world of difference between a well-reasoned argument against, or complaint with the game and the type of ranting that is common here, and has been displayed in this thread specifically.
Anyone not understanding that needs to seriously re-examine their understanding of social interactions.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, but everywhere else on this board when someone tries to disagree with the game they get told to [censored] off. It's not just pertaining to this thread but the forums in general.
[/ QUOTE ] That isn't true and you know it. You're a liar.
[/ QUOTE ]
No he isn't lying, because every time anyone says anything that isn't the most abject praise, they get told ".... so maybe this isn't the game for you, maybe you need to be somewheres else."
Maybe you're just not seeing it, but yes it happens at least once in 98% of threads dealing with serious issues, feedback threads or really, any thread that reaches sufficient size. Its the stock response for everything:
"OMG this chat bug is driving me crazy!!"
"Maybe you'd best get over yourself, shut up and leave this game which clearly isnt for you, cry moar plz."
Lovely. -

And this differs from the tells i would get from lowbies asking for team spots with my 40+ characters exactly how?
I am not saying that there are not going to be iratating PLing requests, there always have been and will continue to be. Its the idea that the MA/AE is responsible for it all that IMO is false.
[/ QUOTE ]
While requests for PL have been with us forever, back in the day I did not have people sending me tells in the middle of missions, requesting that I leave my mission and hook them up IMMEEEEDJUTLY because "they want to level fast." Don't we all want to level fast?!
And while yes, requests for PL were out there, I missed out on the sense of extreme entitlement that I am seeing from new players these days. Its not enough that I should PL them, I should leave my mission and do it now, this instant - and if not WHY NOT??!!! I'm not in the AE bldg? WHY NOT?!
As if I owe such people an answer. Or as if I owed them PLing.
Last night was on a SG team with a new member of the group. Newbie was completely new to the game. Our SG leaders were PLing him out of kindness. I don't agree with this strategy, but kept my mouth shut. Besides, I needed some Prestige on that character. On the team: eight people.
As we were steamrolling along killing everything in sight in record time, newbie says: "If we had a real team we could be doing this a LOT FASTER. Wish this was a *real* team!"
I nearly choked on my drink, and only controlled the urge to all-caps "**** OFF YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE [censored]!" out of courtesy toward friends on the team. A zillion xp/minute wasn't enough...? Truly, ROTFL. Tired of these spoiled-rotten little ubar-entitled brats. I don't care how old they are, they act like whiny brats many of them.

To play Devil's Advocate, as a person who's worked with customers in the past, sometimes loosing problem customers is a good thing, because it frees one up to pursue other things that benefit the majority of (hopefully) loyal customers.

Perhaps another game and its associated forums would serve you better, since negative feedback seems to be a problem for you. Heat/kitchens/tolerance, etc.

I'm unsure what you mean. Me? A problem with these forums? Heck, I'm the instigator half the time
I don't have problems with negative feedback, just non-constructive feedback. The problem is most layman cannot tell the difference, or don't care.

Ah, so you are our self-proclaimed Arbiter of Constructive Feedback, with all "non-constructive" feedback-ees being tossed to the Arachnoids down in the Gutter. The rest of us are "laymen" who need your august sorting-skills to determine between the two kinds.

I have often thought the exact same thing.
Praise is not the only possible valid feedback to the game, although I realize that "leave the game immediately if you don't like [x]" is our standard meaningless deflection anytime anyone isn't busy kowtowing. HOW DARE THEY NOT KOWTOW...??!!

Plus the server log-in screen freezes your characters in place, and in fact clipped the wings completely off of one of my characters. ZOMG WHAT HAPPENED TO HER WINGS...??
I log in and character still actually had her wings, for which I am grateful. But seems like we got a few new bugs. -

Same mechanic as Confuse... it actually increases XP/minute... some people just don't understand that.
[/ QUOTE ]
[Really NOT trying to be snarky}
Since when? I was under th impression that (and I've never used confuse, btw...even though I have 3 ILL trollers), 'arresting' that enemies that have taken damage from an NPC, yield a lower amount of Xp depending on the damage taken from said NPC (including some powers, ie: confuse, OLD chain reaction, others). Even in MA (or AE, whatever...make up our minds, people!
).
AM I wrong? AM I a n00b?
P.S. Don't answer that last one, hehe.
[/ QUOTE ]Yes, the XP per mob will be lower... but, you'll be able to kill more mobs in the same time frame, which'll result in a net increase. Lets say your NPC ally is doing a LOT of damage... and you're only really doing about 20% of the damage to each mob. What does that do to the XP you'd make for that mission? It'd cut it in half... BUT, what does it do to how long it took to complete the mission? It was cut to one fifth! That's a one hundred and fifty percent increase in earned XP per minute!
See this chart for how it works out. Really, confuses is basically one of the most underrated abilities in the entire game (which is why I love Seeds of Confusion... it's up basically every mob, and it's pretty easy to hit the entire spawn with it).
[/ QUOTE ]
It's true. Confuse is just plain awesome. It's one of my favorite powers.
Recently an SG mate rolled a mind dom and finally got confuse. They exclaimed "Wow Confuse is great!" and I said "You know what's better than Confusion? MASS Confusion!"
Confuse. Learn2Luv
[/ QUOTE ]
I have an Illusion Controller and I am so damn sick and tired of people whining, *****ing and wailing about Confuse that when I team, I just temporarily pull it out of my trays. I don't bother sermonizing them about it, like people try to sermonize me over SB, or over how Confuse be stealin' our expees.....!; I just deny them the tender, juicy and delicious benefits of Confuse.
Because stupidity SHOULD be painful.
So freakin' sick of people blueside trying so hard to control what other people do in a mission, while wanting endless license to annoy for themselves. Idiots. -
[ QUOTE ]
When I take three level 50 MM's on a SF, and not a single one can control their pets, I have a problem with that. When I try to help out a lowbie and teach them a few things, and the next thing I get is a tell asking you to help them level in AE, I have a problem with that.

The scene: my level 47 Bane is trying to beat down Agent Crimson when I see the following:
n00b: wanna help me and my buddy run some missions?
me: [immediately suspicious, i wait till Crimson runs off like a little girl and pull up /search. Sure enough this is a level 18. I'm almost surprised, I was expecting him to be a level 2]. What you need help with?
n00b: Me and my buddy want to level really fast. Can you do it for us?
me: [Crimson is back. Gah, what an annoying mission, I am dropping this thing.] Dude, you're a level 18 and I'm 47.
n00b: Please help us level!
me: [in between dodging this annoying [censored] of an EB] Best thing I can suggest is that you form a team of people near your level and you guys run some missions. You'll level fast like that.
n00b: Are you saying you're not gonna help us level? We wanna level really fast, we need to.
me: No, I am not. Sorry. Fighting an EB just now.
n00b: what's an EB?
And at that point I quit responding. I should have told him what an EB is, but I was busy and it wouldn't have mattered anyways. He wasn't interested in learning, he wanted a free ride. Should have told him, "Go run a few actual missions and you will find out what an EB is in fairly short order. Have fun!"
If many of these n00bs ran into Blechly The Council Vampyre solo, I think they'd probably have a heart attack and then quit the game. -

Oh great. Next you're gonna tell us you level pact two new alts and mito farmed them up to level 20 so you wouldn't have to suffer through the pre-travel and pre-stamina levels.
Oh the humanity!
[/ QUOTE ]
I just the other day ran a new character up to level 20 in a farm, in order to power past The Levels Of Agony. Guilty. Guilty as hell.
And I have to admit, its pretty damn sweet. Said character left the AE building at level 20 and is now doing normal stuff; but especially on END-heavy sets, hitting the fast-forward button to 20 is worth doing.
Now this is ok for me, a 3+ year vet. With someone new to the game, that's not so ok. But that is another thread; meanwhile my brand-spankin'-new level 20 is off getting her cape and getting some contacts. I'm happy.
I also had the courage to admit that in public. I am looking forward to a lot of moral outrage from forumistas who have secretly done the exact same thing - or worse - while they're in here complaining about other people PLing. Should be fun. -

Seriously! That's what I saw this weekend in the auction house when I went looking for an Apocalypse IO and a few other purples to complete a set I'd begun slotting several months ago.
How is *anything* going for 200 million plus inf. on the auction house? Is the system that unbalanced now? There's just no way the casual player is ever going to afford a purple recipe now - or is that the idea?
*edit*
Deleted the $ sign - sorry about that!

I sold a purple IO on villain side for over 200mil before the i14 dropped.
Lots of them have sold for that much for a long time.

Awesome.

Nethergoat, I am asking this in all seriousness: do you really, really, deep down where you really live, think that what's going on related to AE issues is good for the future of the game? Be honest.
I am a little surprised by my perception of your stance on all this, since of all possible people posting in these forums, you seem to be the one who would LEAST want to put up with the tsunami of idiocy engendered by inexperienced AE babies.
I don't have a problem with vets running 50,000 mito farms all the live-long day. That might in fact be a fun way to test out a toon one might not have been willing to invest 6+ months in leveling. But c'mon - you canNOT be missing the tidal-wave of n00bitude even now laying waste the waterfront of Paragon. -

What you're proposing is actually more restrictive than simply removing the buildings from the lowbie zones. In the removal idea a player can simply choose to run to the nearest AE and go about their merry way the exact same way as before. Your idea will force them to run certain contacts or hit a certain level.
I believe something needs to change but I think it's too late to level-gate AE.
Edit: It's also too late to tie AE access to a Vet Reward. How would you like to buy a game called "City of Heroes: Architect Edition", get home and read a pop-up "Oh by the way, Architect is a Veteran's Reward you'll get in 3 months, enjoy!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I'm not proposing this. It's just an effort to think along the lines of what others are bemoaning in this thread without absolutely hamstringing everybody.
Personally, I think AE is fine the way it is. I don't see the need to remove it from the starter zones; if forumites are concerned that newbies are somehow missing out, maybe we should be creating new characters and inviting said newbies to regular teams rather than coming to the forums and trying to make the devs force others to play our way.
[/ QUOTE ]
I see a lack of veteran forumites volunteering to form low level teams to help newbies along. They like to complain but refuse to be part of the solution.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm just not the nanny type. I don't mind every now and then, but make an in-game career out of it, no.
Was on a very lucrative farm the other day with a new player who had been picked up evidently as a level 1 or 2. He had leveled in the double-digits in this one mission, and had the following several questions literally every 30 seconds:
*What level was he now? and
*Were we done yet? And if not, could we get done now so he could go level?
*If he left the mission to go level, would he still be on the team?
*If he left the mission, would he still be getting xp?
Everyone on the team, myself included, was as patient as possible and answered all of these questions multiple times. After about the fifth repetition I was to the point where I wanted to start stabbing my own hand with a fork, to distract myself from the pain of people who are literally dumber than a bag of hammers.
Some of us were not education majors in college. I don't think that makes us bad people, nor do I view what's happening in the game now as my fault, and it being my fault I'd better get out there and start educating. In my experience people do not take attempts at polite education at all well. -

Keep going, Inokis. This is worth doing. Those first 23 SoA levels are very, very tough: in fact that would be a good era to AE-farm through. Serious pain lurks therein. But once you hit 24, the regular-mission fun never stops.
[/ QUOTE ]
1-15 wasn't bad. That little hell between 15-22 though was horrible. Like I said earlier I had to drop the difficulty down to do some of the missions in that range. It may be better or worse on different ATs but so far my MM is the only one I've taken this high. I'll probably take my Ele/Ele blaster up that high in conjuntion with my Spider once I unlock VEATs.
So far I'm glad I've played COH. I nearly wrote all NCSoft games off after what happened with Tabula Rasa. I will always wish they kept that game going.
[/ QUOTE ]I believe Bad was referring to the first 23 levels of the VEAT. For some reason, most folks have a lot of trouble playing the Soldiers before they hit their branches. I just thought of it as an Assault Rifle blaster, which I'd already played through (oddly enough, the Blaster's concept was an Ex-Arachnos Soldier, so that only helped).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes I was referring to 1-23 as a SoA. It is so bad because of needing to get various pools in place, which mean one must defer powers one desperately needs so that one won't be on a SF 6 months down the road and exemped down out of Stamina, for instance.
This is painful on any pre-20 alternate, but is at least twice as bad on a SoA because as lowbies, they really are weak.
As far as MMs, I played one to 22 once and then he sadly got deleted. Just waaaaaaaay too much babysitting for my taste. If the pet AI were smarter I would consider another one, but right now I have no inclination to experiment with the AT again. -

We're glad you're not the majority of players too. Everyone happy. -
[ QUOTE ]
The VEAT may seem like the bestest shiniest thing in the world - and they are fun - but they're not THAT fun. I mean, they're not SO MUCH BETTER than all the normal ATs that they're worth 20 hours (or whatever) of tedium to get to them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I must disagree: I totally think the VEATs are enough fun to warrant enduring a little discomfort/boredom to get one. In fact, I would throw away another character to get one.
Now I would never actually THROW AWAY a level 50, there's no need to play something that boring: why not play a fun villain to 50 and then play a fun VEAT after that?! But just sayin'. VEATs are just that damn good.
Keep going, Inokis. This is worth doing. Those first 23 SoA levels are very, very tough: in fact that would be a good era to AE-farm through. Serious pain lurks therein. But once you hit 24, the regular-mission fun never stops.
