...Thanks for bringing this up, so that it can be nerfed back into the orginal Nerf Configuration.
The original nerf is something I am still upset about, and any change for the better is definitely a thing to keep under one's hat just in case the right person take notice. As you know, a bug can be with us forever, but nerfs/"exploit fixes" can take place in under 24 hours. Or so it seems. -
Quote:....Is someone really trying to hint that the ancient Romans *didn't* really commit atrocities of every type!? Bwahahaha. Be serious. That was an extremely politically-incorrect bunch. In fact, I am mostly of UK descent and the Romans came over and enslaved my ancestors and burned down their sacred groves! EXPUNGE CIMERORA FROM THE GAME NOW! It reminds me of past atrocities when my people were enslaved!!!!111111!!!-!
that Electric guy: Legionnaires were indeed hired soldiers for the Roman Empire, but lumping them together as a group that committed atrocities equal to or greater than a piece of literature used by a specific group to murder innocent people in the name of their god... That's just not equivalent.
Quote:Jade Tora, you speak as well for all the rest of forum-users as Justin Bieber does for all of Rock and Roll. -
Quote:As time goes on I become more and more melee-centric. Good thing too, from the sound of this!
The idea of making the toons with the least amount of HP and resistance/defense also the one gaining the most aggro is very, well, it won't be fun at all for people playing those toons.
Maybe debuff-heavy Defenders and Corruptors might be able to deal with that, but most buffers buff, you know, the rest of the party, not themselves. So we have an AT with powersets that are meant to make others more resilient and more capable at taking and dishing out damage, and then make it all useless because the enemies will focus on you anyway? -
Quote:I have a feeling "reasonable discussion" might be standing in for "Let's have you come on around to my point of view." In this instance, not happening.And... No point in attempting to have any sort of reasonable discussion with that.
No worries, it is not necessary to attempt any such thing.
Definitely might want to relax though.
I am uninterested in any sort of compromise on this issue. I don't WANT the badge or its name altered in any way. I CERTAINLY do not want it taken away from us over the opinions of like, two people on the forums vs 100,000+ players. -
That's nice.
Hands off of Malleus, tyvm. I don't want it touched. We suffer enough crap in the name of political correctness in real life; I do not want you getting the Malleus badge pulled, nor do I want you as the Arbiter Of Badge Tastefulness. That'll be next, you'll be appointed the Badge Czar. *facepalm* No thanks.
Leave Malleus alone. Thanks for understanding. -
Relax? I'll relax when she quits trying to remove one of the better badge-titles in the game, that's when.
I DO NOT want this badge title removed. I like it. I USE it. It is great for melee characters. I don't want it taken away from me because one person is freaking out over stuff that happened several hundred years ago.
Ban this, and a ton of other stuff is bound to follow. We have ALREADY had many many lovely badge-titles ripped away from us over the MA debacle. Let's don't lose any more, sez I.
Smiley-Girl is free to use whatever badge titles she wants. If she does not want to use Malleus, THEN DON'T. This does NOT mean the rest of the playerbase should be punished, because her and like, two other people want this badge stripped. Sorry, that's how it looks from over here. HANDS OFF THIS BADGE. -
Quote:Ok, I will bite: other than Smiley-Girl and yourself, who exactly is "harping" on the evils of the Malleus badge? Please point them out.
Golden Girl is far from the only one that keeps harping on it, and I've made a grand total of three posts on the subject now.
Quote:I'd also dare certain posters in this thread to show where Batman has killed anyone that isn't some kind of nightmare or alternate dystopian future story in comics (Tim Burton's movies have him implicitly killing, but they are pretty far from the source, what with hubcap bombs and automatic weapons on the Batmobile), or to show me where Wolverine is killing people all the time as a superhero, not as a soldier in the past.
I will try to break it down: the Cabal is an evil villain-group in this game. EVIL. They are not your nice friendly Wiccans down the street. They want to kill everyone they can get their hands on, ESPECIALLY men [going from what I remember re text in the game], but they're not religious about it - they'll kill anyone.
Killing people WHO ARE TRYING TO KILL YOU is called "self defense" and is pretty much sanctioned in most justice systems. Hence the Malleus badge is perfectly appropriate. If you two do not like it I am sorry, but I have at least one person displaying the Malleus badge and that is how it is going to stay!
"Farmhouse." "Bucket of Water." Oh dear Lord, have mercy on us all! *eyeroll* [and do you really think most players are au fait with methods for executing witches? My guess on that one is a resounding "no."] Next we'll be banning "Column Breaker" because German people had to die for us to get that badge, no fair demonizing the Germans for stuff that happened over 50 years ago, SOME ONE PLEASE THINK OF THE GERMANS!~!
p.s. I am about 1/3 German myself, just to nip that in the bud before it starts. -
Quote:I have several in-game friends who are eying an upcoming game whose name incorporates both a version of the word "devil" and the number three, very very closely.NEW class!!! And sorry to say this but if DR comes to PvE I might be done for good.
Implement DR, and ensure that I join them there when it gets released. Seriously. I have been in this game what feels like forever, and I love it. But I will not tolerate PvE DR; promise. -
Quote:Is there seriously one single person in this game running a damage aura, as a level 50 in Atlas, who bothers beating down a level 5 Hellion?...? Is that worth anyone's time? I know it isn't worth MY time.thanks for changing your post but since I did catch your original wording, I'm not so sure you believe what you are saying either since it was a knee-jerk response initially.
He said that attack him. I can run Invuln or many other toggles and get attacked just by walking by a level 5. I'm not attacking them, Taunting them or backing them in a corner since they can run and do but will still fire off a shot or take a swing or two.
Now it is true that my level 50 damage aura will kill a level 5 Hellion in a matter of about 3 seconds, with no further effort on my part. But that is his bad luck; attacking people who are extremely stronger than one often results in poor outcomes. -
And Wolverine absolutely kills enemies all the time, because he's a hero and that is what a lot of them do.
Quote:Superheroes don't go around slaughtering criminals
A few superheroes such as Spider-man do not kill their opponents. A great many DO, however, and you can argue that they DON'T till you are blue in the face, but the fact is that everyone with even a small knowledge of comics knows that.... yeah, they often do. This is the reality of the comics genre.
If you ever actually read Mark Millar's "Wanted"... I dont think you could handle that. It is about villians, granted but I dont think you could handle that well at all. Metahumans are a murderous bunch, villain OR hero. In the Marvel UNiverse a lot of people actually do not like heroes much, because they are seen as massively destructive of property and of life. If the Hulk rampaged through your apartment during a battle, would you be ok with that? I sure wouldnt.
As a matter of fact, I well remember the Anniversary event where "name" heroes were spawning all over the place. Back Alley Brawler showed up at the Cap au Diable BM and started killing everyone in sight. People were mildly going about their businesss at the market and he was one-shotting 'em... Now that is a hero for you, lol... but VERY TRUE TO THE GENRE.
As for whoever made the comment about our opponents not dying because their bodies vanish after a minute or two, my understanding was that this is not due to the fact that they miraculously got teleported to a hospital, but that the more bodies are lying around, the more graphics-intensive things get = increased lag. They vanish as a service to us, to reduce lag.
I know all of this accords ill with your hearts-and-flowers worldview, but sorry. -
Quote:I fail to see why not, although Nazis were of course not actually the ones interned in death camps, so that might be kind of backwards.A better example is this: what if you were awarded a badge named Auschwitz for defeating 5th Column? Would that be considered acceptable? You would be defeating Nazis, and you would be rewarded a badge named for something that the Nazis used to persecute and kill people.
Badge text could go something like: "You've given the Council a taste of their own deadly medicine," or I am sure someone else could think up text even more appropriate. -
Please forgive if this has been mentioned before: I'm slowly working one toon through the halloween arc, and all the badges are dropping fine except for Power Hungry, which is only a little white square.
Is it just me? -
You turn in one of each kind [think there are four] to the event salvage contact, and this opens up the fifth costume slot for that character.
You can email it to newbies of yours who didnt make the event - works for all levels - or you can keep it and market it later. It sells for a pretty good price, esp. several months down the road. -
Quote:Yeah, because in real life, all the time people are surviving vicious attacks lasting several minutes with large bladed weapons - or even small ones, for that matter - having a flamethrower turned on them, having a pack of minions fireball them mercilessly and other suchlike violent confrontations, you bet! You're ignoring the actual mission text and game lore if you think you're killing people as a Hero - 0 HP doesn't = death.
Quote:We arrest people, and they end up in the Zig, which is the special prison for superpowered criminals, where CoV players also escape from.
ain't it Atrocious:
Bad -
Quote:Agreed on all these points, and we need a badge called "Atrocious" ASAP. Or a title would work, too.Perception. I have no delusions that I am arresting people while you delude yourself into think you are. Just like I don't delude myself into thinking the name of a badge is "Atrocious" while you do. Perception.
By the way, heroes go around killing people in the comics/movies/games all the time, that is not perception, but fact.
As I said before I personally believe the wording in the missions was to keep a "Teen" rating and therefore make this game more marketable to a wider audience. While I *could* be wrong, I doubt it.
I find it ludicrous that I would NOT be allowed to kill some Longbow nuisance who is trying to use a flamethrower on me for the high crime of.... just entering a building?! Talk about swatting flies with a suitcase nuke, that's a great example. -
Quote:Nope!Really? What's the worst that could happen, you knock on too many doors and the zombies attack as well and you die for no debt?
For one thing, I might be on an alt over level 10. For another, zombies will continue to spawn and spawn AND SPAWN, until I am eventually overcome.
Since death when fighting zombies solo is almost a given, which creates useless debt OR a long run back from the hospital on a lowbie, and since they give crap xp, there are few things that will drive me indoors faster when ToTing solo, than a zombie invasion.
Risk is not equal to or better than reward in this instance. I therefore move on. -
I didnt mind these invasions so much, until xp got nerfed to hell and back again - this seems particularly bad re zombies - and thats when I started ignoring them unless I was on a team already when the event hit.
Zombie invasions are a serious nuisance when ToTing solo, and when they start I just leave the zone or find a mission. I know its going to be what feels like 15 minutes until the stupid thing is over, so I just make myself scarce. -
Quote:Call me bad, but I really would not care if they did. They ARE villains, after all. Villains tend to do antisocial and politically-incorrect things.I do see GG's point even if I think it's a fight that doesn't need to be fought. Think about it in relation to a more recent example.
What if there was a badge on Red Side for helping the Fifth Column (who we all know are thinly veiled Nazis) called the "Auschwitz" Badge?
Or, what if the badges for the safeguard/mayhem side missions involving bombs were "Alfred P. Murrah" badges?
However no fear because there is no way something like this would ever happen; the vast majority of the playerbase would emit a collective scream that would probably deafen half of the continental US. -
Quote:It's not going to be changed. You're totally missing the point again - there's no problem with having evil witches in the game - the poblem is making the badge for defeating them a reference to mass-murder in the real world.
Defeating the Halloween witches is shown to be a good thing in the game - but the badge to mark the achievement is linked to a crime against humanity - that's why it needs to be changed.
And a good thing too, since changing that would mean changing a ton of other "offensive" stuff in the game, such as badges given out for the number of times one blows a bank vault door off its hinges.... OMG! CRIME! WE GOT A BADGE FOR A CRIME!
What about that badge for defeating CoT Mages? OMG! ADVOCATION OF MASS MURDER OF INNOCENT WARLOCKS! There they were, roasting passers-by in eerie green bonfires when those meddlin' murderous "heroes" showed up and fireballed 'em into oblivion!
We get a badge for killing Lusca. ALERT PETA AT ONCE, CRUELTY TO ANIMALS!
I could go on and on. My best advice to you is, find a real problem to fret about. Because this little crusade of yours is, I am sorry to say, complete balderdash. -
Quote:OMG I can't believe you have to have this explained to you! Because the Cabal is a VILLAIN GROUP in this game. We most generally earn cash and prizes in this game by DEFEATING ENEMIES. The Cabal are the enemy of every hero.... and pretty much every villain too, since when villains ToT, Crones pretty much dont pop out of that door with a Candy-gram, either. They want to kill ALL of us.Evil characters, not heroes.
Why would a hero have a badge linking their actions to mass-murder?
Problem solved! Sheesh! -
Quote:Its not just this week, as I recall she went off on this nutty crusade to get the badge pulled last year as well. The point that has been missed is that GG would be totally clueless about this, if someone else hadn't mentioned it to her.
Apparently, this is her windmill of the week...
Meanwhile one of my Brutes is happily sporting the title "Malleus." And unless I greatly miss my guess, he will continue to sport it. O THE HORROR
I wouldn't want to guesstimate how many players actually understand the Malleus reference, but I'm guessing very few, the general knowledge fund being what it is. -
Quote:OMG.Not necessarily. In this post in a thread in Technical Issues on the subject, a player claims that a GM told them that you don't get the temp powers themselves when sidekicked. It explains the behavior seen by Bad_Influence here and the others in that thread.
So I can choose between teaming with friends, and being able to get the tip mission [which is what this boils down to]. Great. -
Quote:The mere knowledge that one must do research on the event in order to complete it successfully shouts "EPIC FAIL!" to me. I noticed [the one time I bothered to participate this year so far] that the timer resets once the banners are defeated, and this is a good change. But this event is still too much bother for many people. I admit to being one of them.
Of course, there are still people that don't understand the easiest way to handle it and group up on a single banner before they're vulnerable
I have two characters for whom costumes are not dropping at all, which leads to my being unable to get the special tip mission and on this count I am pretty annoyed. One of them even has a costume badge meter that is moving, but no costumes are in his trays. Fun. -
Re the devolution issue, that may only be one minute, but for those of us who hate becoming an ugly little creature that is one LONG minute that feels like at least 20 minutes.
Luckily it has only happened to me twice; were it to become more frequent, I would pull the power from my trays.
These powers seem to come with significant downsides. especially Fortune which has the potential for 20 minutes of debuffing. Luckily that one comes with a decline, because if I am on a melee alt I am GOING to get The Tower. I don't need any debuffage right before I get nose-to-nose with Romulus so *decline.*
Some of you think these downsides are a hoot and insignificant; others of us don't. Different strokes. -
Quote:Now why would you boycott the cape pack over this?! It doesn't even have a stray power IN IT?!I'm not buying any more of your damned costume packs until you get rid of the de-evolution thing on Secondary Mutation from the Mutant Pack. I don't like paying someone to play jokes on me. It wastes my time and my friends' time if I'm on a team. It's not funny to me, and it's not cute. I could just not use the power, but I PAID for it. I thought the devs had more respect for their customers than that. No company stays in business if they slip little "jokes" into their customer's products. How would you like it if you bought a car that the paint washed off of the first time you washed it just because the manufacturer thought it would be funny?
Boycotting the Origins Pack.
I agree that devolution [puns intended] sucks. It has however happened to me exactly twice since I've been using it, only once of which was on a team... and I made sure I was far from the action when I clicked it.
If you have to boycott over stray - and mostly useless, I find most of them rather "meh" - over stray powers included in packs, at least wait for a pack with such a power in it. Passing up beautiful capes will not teach the developers any lessons, meanwhile your alts are frowning and pouting over not having a pretty leaf cape. Be kind to your alts!
