"From Baryonyx: If your league does well, and you are a factor in that success, this will only increase your opportunity to earn a Very Rare component.

Increasing opportunity to get this or that via something judging your performance and awarding drops accordingly.... Not random.

I'm sorry, that is the last thing BUT random!

"You have a chance to get a rare drop!"

"You have an opportunity to get a rare drop!"

In this instance there is not much, if any difference between the two statements. But that to the side, Baryonyx has told us in plain language that something [maybe several factors] are weighing into who gets what drops. Not random.

You are qualifying for a chance at the random roll. You are not qualifying for a guaranteed very rare, you are qualifying for a shot at the rewards table. After you have qualified, it all thrown to the random generator and your reward is determined by that.
My reward is determined by something, perhaps several somethings.

That's not random in the least.

Really like the female pieces. The male pants are also pretty useful, both versions. New faces! We cant have too many of those!

Looking forward to using some of this stuff on my Carnie/Freak Brute. She will look beyond awesome.

Athough the idea of watching some diehard-anti-CoV friends venture into even a blueside Grandville would be pretty epic lols, come to think of it. ***EXECUTIONER'S STRIKE!*** Heeheehee

Qualifiers are in there, and that means that your original rant is not valid.

I'm sick of people complaining about it all day. People keep posting things like I mentioned, "I've done a bazillion trials and only got uncommons! This is unfair!"
Except that it IS unfair. Kind of like the person doing the least on the itf getting the lion's share of the shard drops; and I've seen that happen more than once.

When people see other people beating the RNG somehow, they want to know how to, too. This is hard-wired into human nature.
  9. Have went out and played with it a bit... MORE NECK PIECES MORE MORE MORE MORE! Is that plain?!! MORE NECKPIECES all kinds, metal ones and robot ones and plant ones and all kinds of them! Make it snappy!

    NEECCCCKKKKKPIIEEECCCESSSSSSSSSSSS!

Would like to see this belt with more styles of buckle on it, closest thing to a good sash belt we have ever got. Nice.

I'd like to see glowing eyes enabled with the aura.
  10. Way too long, stopped a third of the way through; the same thing was getting repeated too often.

Yeah, god forbid people want to actually attain various rewards when they're in there giving all they've got: how unreasonable of them. OMG stop it now!

[sigh] People want the good stuff. Not just stuff, but the good stuff. I am sorry the OP thinks they shouldn't WANT the good stuff, but they do. He's probably one of those people who gets three purples every ITF he runs, while everyone else gets a stack of Plasmatic Tasers. "OMG stop complaining you losers," as he trots off with three Hecatombs.

    I'd just bet
  11. Will purchase for the female costume parts and the aura - especially the aura.

I wish I likes the wings more than I do, but its all good - plenty in there I can use. I would buy for the female lace neckpiece alone, really.

Given that multiplayer is at the base of the design, then it makes sense that those who play most with other people would be the first considered when making design decisions
Except that this is not how it is. And thank a merciful God for that.

You get to decide how other people play when you are paying their monthly fees. But you don't do that, so.... etc.

I agree with the statement that harsh penalties encourage not "learning," but extremely conservative gameplay which actually avoids challenges. Next we'll be hearing about how the mission drop feature advocates non-learning, or some such thing.

Maybe you like endless frustration when faced with a boss that you cannot possibly defeat. Good for you. I just think back on my poor baby [I call level 19 "baby"-time] Clockwork girl trying to defeat 10 Vanessa DeVores, and her with no mez-protection. Before you start, a level 19 cannto possibly carry enough BFs to defeat 20 Vanessas. I don't like these situations. It incentivizes me to do nothing but avoid Praetoria. Creates a Pavlovian response, not some massive lightbulb going off over people's heads as they "learn." I learned, all right. I learned to not roll anyone else in Praetoria.

Surely someone as elite as you knows the abbreviation for points of damage.

sounds like you dont know everything after all. And surely you dont call being hit from 50 feet away being in melee? i dont, but im just one'a those zergers i guess.

Please post your global, Tyger, so the rest of us "zergers' can avoid annoying you with our inepitude when Bobcat hits our Blaster with 1500 pod per hit.

Ah, so its a failure of learning on my part when Lord Recluse hits my Blaster for 2000 POD per hit, from 50 feet away. Good to know! I will get right on that.

Not all players view dying as "losing", especially when there are no meaningful consequences for it. Yes, to you and other players, the death in itself may be a meaningful consequence, but to others, it's not.
Please do not take offense when I tell you that honestly, I don't care if you think my character's death is meaningful consequence enough.

My characters belong to me, not to you. I will manage them appropriately. You don't get a vote.

All of this seems quite mean-spirited. Its in essence saying, "I want to make sure your death hurts you ENOUGH, because right now you are getting off too easy and you need more pain baby." That is not your judgement to make re anyone else's character.
  17. Bad_Influence

    Death penalty

As others have said, should one desire severe penalties for defeat, the tools exist right now to punish oneself quite severely; up to and including the death-by-deletion of the "failing" character.

Anyone has the right to do this to their own alts all the livelong day. Please do so, and stop trying to dictate what others do with theirs.

When I was new to the game, one day I was redside with a friend and his girlfriend, in a Nemesis mission cranked up to Relentle..... I mean, Redonkulous. We were in an office building and the Nemesis were chasing us through elevators. I died so many times and got so upset that I actually logged off to avoid more debt. [I was new to MMOs, and foolish] That is quite funny to me now, but my point is that some people hate death penalties just that much. Let's not scare off new people, whatcha say? I will never devote time and effort to see a defeated character wiped off my character roster. I would never pay to be treated like that.

    New zone?!

Wile the new zone will almost certainly be Praetorian in content, I'd much rather see something else. Here's why:

    1. Current zones that need content, such as Dark Astoria or Boomtown, have concepts behind them that I actually find interesting. Praetoria does not interest me even slightly. I'd like to fight ghosts, monsters or even see the Rikti leveling Boomtown. [I'm assuming thats who leveled it, not being huge on game-lore]. When I think if Praetoria, I think of some guy single-handedly taking down the hamidon....? This does not seem logical to me, and for some reason I can't get past it. No one guy can take down Hamidon, be serious - I don't care if he IS an Incarnate. This is a failure of credibility and logic.

    2. I also think of my then-level 19 Controller struggling to take down wave after wave of Vanessa DeVores. You got it in one: I consider current Praetorian content many levels more difficult than it ought to be, and am not thirsting for more of the same.

New Clockwork are cool and Praetoria is a pretty zone. But its not all that interesting. I'd like new zones, or fixes to current unused zones.... but I grow weary of Praetoria. You can call that "haterade" if you like, but what it really is is a wish for something that I find intriguing. I havent said "oooo, cool!" about a new zone's content since the RWZ.
  19. ...haven't we been saying all this about Arachnos Lab maps since, well.... forever? Luckily the Arachnos Lab is a lot prettier than a warehouse, so at least you get something fun to look at.

I'm mostly blueside these days, sure do miss that map. Lag and all.

...And that's exactly what it is: Silly Run.

I know people dont care how stupid their 8' tall Broadsword Scrapper wearing the high-collar Magic cloak looks waiting for a TF to begin, as he stands there in Sillyninja stance; but I can't help but think how, well.... stupid he looks.

This also applies to the Beast run. Yeah. Retarded on non-animal players, or I guess people just don't care... but I don't get and never will get, how these two things are seen as Pure Awesomesauce + 1 bag of Doritos chips in your choice of flavor. I used Sillyninja one time to join friends on the opposite side of the Hollows as a level eight. That was it. Luckily no one but the usual +8 Hollows Death Mage Conventioneers saw me. Whew. 'Cause I was lookin' stupid.

Bah, you lot do not own the Hive. People who are not in your so-called "elite" group participate in those raids all the time, much to the chagrin of your raid leaders who immediately begin trying to dismantle non-TA teams via tell. TA cannot control who enters the zone and participates. Aw!

The persons I declined to join were friends in the zone, not TA. Everyone knows you don't want non_TA in there.

And yes, it is true that you usually take down Hami when you have a competent leader leading the raid. It was pretty funny to see the whole lot of you instantly exit to Pinnacle after the incident in question though, as if the embarrassment were too great to be borne.

Can only go by what I see, which is a lot of bullying and a lot of faux-"elite" wannabe-itude. Get over yourselves; your group really does not have all that great a rep on the server. Notorius for all the wrong reasons.

Suffice it to say I was not referring to Earthclan Elite.

Its another biiiiig Guardian group that makes their wannabees go through an extensive and quite humiliating application process, and its members rarely speak in Broadcast, teamspeak or any other public mode of communication. They are very controlling of their members and do not allow them to associate with any other SG. Ever. If a member tries they will swiftly and publically be called onto the carpet about it. Outside socialization is NOT ALLOWED! And they like Hami raids. A lot. On Wednesdays.

[And it wasn't PK Squadron! Heh, I kinda miss those guys, they had their funny moments. I never see them around anymore.]

I know exactly what group did this since I was online at the time, and had several friends engaged in the attempt. [I declined since I really, really dislike mixing with the persons who run that SG. And I dislike mixing with their rank-and-file, come to think of it] This SG is notorious on Guardian for only speaking to SG and coalition members; they would not have asked for help if they'd each been mailed a $1000 check for doing so. You will rarely if ever see them speak in team or league chat. Its amusing to see them on BAF and Lambda teams when they cant muster an entire League by themselves; they confine themselves to one-word responses.

I therefore almost fell out of my chair laughing that the so-called 'elite" failed Hamidon in fabulous-disaster fashion. Walk on home, "elite."

Yeah, that. Usually what happens is that the player "disconnects" and then never logs back in. This has never happened on a team I have been on, since I know most of the other hard-core players on my server.... but I've heard of it.
