    Sure.

It'll get more play right about the time they finally remove the Malleus badge from the game, is my guess.

I really don't care how many Empyreans the UG trial awards; I found it good for the swiftness with which it unlocked slots. Two hours of work in order not to have to farm BAM and LAM endlessly? Cool. I'm down.

You heard it here first: THESE CHANGES WILL NOT END WITH KEYES BEING RUN MORE OFTEN. I would stake a mortgage payment on it. Its not a fun trial, its a cluster-[expletive] of death and confusion, and is about as fun as an air-raid in London during the Blitz. *Air raid sirens go off* OMG, EVERYONE RUN FOR THE SUBWAY!!!" people run like mad left and right, hither and thither, while some die from bomb-impact shrapnel as they try to reach safety.... I would imagine raids during the Blitz were actually more orderly, as most people had an idea where the nearest bomb-shelter was.... but no one in Keyes has a clue what's going on. You're just suddenly DEAD.

You are missing nothing by not running Keyes, believe it.

They're not run constantly because they're fun, they're run constantly because they're easy and familiar.

Why run an Underground you might well fail, even if it would be more fun, when you can run a Lambda you know you'll beat?

The answer is that there's very little reason to do that, so the devs are adding that incentive.
"Easy and familiar" often equals "fun." Not always, but often.

Every time I try to form an UG trial, people line up for it. This is not a hated trial. But no incentive exists in this world to make me run Keyes, so I will wish the developers luck with this tactic.... because its like the Green Lantern trying to use his ring on a yellow object.... no impact. But even a failed UG trial can be immensely profitable.

Carrot vs. stick will not make me run Keyes. Bet i'm not alone.

I hate when no matter how much you play you still have to wait for things such as with the entire alignment system which I have completely ignored due to a near 4 day wait.

We got lore without having to do anything more than the usual incarnates.

And to add insult to injury BAF and LAM no longer award EMP merits after unlocking the current slots...

It seems there is always a negative approach. Instead of doing something to make the other trials MORE desirable they do something to make BAF and LAM less desirable. Aye aye aye---make me a headache!
From what I understand, the next set of powers is not that terrific anyways; I doubt I will go to the trouble of unlocking them. Certainly not for 15 Empyrean merits, that is ridiculous.

I absolutely DETEST being "forced" to do something a particular way. If I can do it having fun, i.e. *my* way, I'll do it. It feels like we're being told here "you are going to run Keyes whether you like it or not, to get this stuff!" and to that my baseline reply is, ".... well then I simply won't bother, tyvm."

In my opinion the development focus should be, "the players enjoy running BAF and LAM; how can we make more fun trials like those two?"

It feels like rather they are thinking: "They hate our newer trials, especially Keyes. HOW CAN WE FORCE THEM TO RUN KEYES?!! And let's make more stuff like that!"

The Underground trial is a lot of fun and I don't mind running it, but this mindset in general I find extremely ominous. Luckily the game has more to do than just the trials
  5. I've never noticed a really significant amount of protection coming from either ice or fire shields. Certainly not enough to counter the ugliness of the ice shields in particular.... and they are always a color spefically picked for obnoxiousness.

In short, the insult to my eyes is not outweighed by their usefulness.
  6. The Gull only affects SB, Group Fly and [I think] Inertial Reduction. He can't make it so shields are not cast on you, which is a pity.

I am grateful for the things he CAN do, however. Very nice QoL change.

I think that the pink shield idiot had a one-star coming, just because he didnt do a thing else except cast shields. No fighting, no other buffs.... wasting space on a team is what he was doing. When you only have 4 people, everyone has to fight.

With that said, sometimes the queue lines you up with three other people whose powersets mean you are all gonna be fighting the Abomination for quite some time to come [i.e, all squishies]. oh well! He sure gave my Stalker hell, lol.
  7. Quick reply, admittedly I have not read the entire thread:

I dont care what they do. They can remove all rewards from BAF and LAM. They can aim three orbital laser cannons at my house with a finger on the big red button 24/7. They can send in a squad of PredAliens to stalk me as I take out the trash in the morning. They can steal my homework and kick sand in my face at the beach....

    ...I'm still not running Keyes.

I don't care what they do, or what they take away. I'm not running it. I won't be running any future content that is anything near it, either.

Its absolutely possible to diminish returns to the point where people quit caring. Words to the wise, and all that. I'm not in the game to be punished.

If people want me to wear thier ice shields, they need to not be obnoxious or stupid colors, like bright pink. When I had a /cold Corr, her shields were a dark transparent blue which was all but invisible.

The cancel buff option is a great thing, and this is the first time I have had someone grief me about it... there is just no excuse for rudeness in my opinion.

Notorion: Something about that was just the wrong attitude. I should have stopped him before we even started and asked, "Okay, what is your SPECIFIC plan to get this badge? What is it that we need to do and why?" But I didn't. It was clear that I wasn't going to get that information now and the whole effort just seemed a pointless waste of my time to proceed any further. There just didn't seem to be anything to discuss further so I said nothing. I just quit the team and logged.

I felt bad for the two others on the team now faced with this tedious impossible mission and a man short, but I was just so suddenly ticked off at the whole situation.
Most of the people I meet on these little impromptu team-ups are pretty cool, but you can't win them all. He was rude and had no real plan.

I recently quit a Dr Kane with no warning myself. We had a /cold Def or troller on the team, who made it his special mission to make sure I had all my Ice shields.

idiot: *casts bright pink ice shields*

    me: *cancels*

    idiot: *casts ice shields*

    me: *cancels*

    idiot *casts ice shields*

    me: *dismisses*

This went on all through the haunted house and though the caverns. This was his only contribution: making sure I had ice shields.

    After the 50,000th cast:

me: Please don't cast shields on me anymore, ok? TY

idiot: Actually I find it quite amusing and I like doing it, so no your request is not granted.

me: I don't find it that amusing. *quit TF after one-starring*

I am aware this is a group buff nowadays, but this was out and out griefing. Never seen this happen before... but when someone is just flat-out rude, the onus is on them not you. At least to me.

If you don't like it or whatever well....that stinks (for people like me who are up for it but can't find others to do it heh)
It DOES suck for people like you, because despite adjustments to the rewards given, this trial is still not being run. I'd be upset about not being ever able to run a task that I like, too.

This trial is [probably] irreparably broken, since things of this type tend to be adjusted by the developers years later, if ever.

The take-home message, generally speaking: we have people saying that things are fine because they have sharper senses than "the median person," that they "intuitively know" how to run this trial, etc. Outstanding: I am thrilled to death that we have forumites out there with real-life superpowers. /endsarcasm. BUT THIS TRIAL IS STILL AVOIDED BY MOST PLAYERS.

So, something is still wrong, because if there is one bunch of people who will endure discomfort in the acquisition of desired awards, its gamers. This trial is so unpleasant that even the hard-core are avoidant. Smells like massive fail to me.

And that is from someone who would run the Underground trial twice a day, if I could.

The Vampire faces are both hideous, and I did not purchase them. Ugly and ridiculous-looking at the same time, that's a lot to achieve in one fell swoop.

Now the Bats aura, the vampire cape and the spiderweb wings were instant must-haves. It would have been nice had the cape brooch been colorable; and I wish the aura had a glowing-eyes option - a serious oversight IMO - but will enjoy these pieces muchly.
  13. *looks at OP's picture posted*

Forget the weapon, I just want those candelabra available as base items.

In fact I would like a lot of that mansion decor available to base-builders. Including but not limited to jack-o-lanterns.

    Oh well, one can dream
  14. There's two launchers? Good gawd almighty.... how are people supposed to know this, or know if they are getting the right one? Where IS the right one?

As far as the cursor, I'm running in fullscreen mode. That is the problem; I have to tab back out to see where my cursor is, then click madly till I hit the desired item.
  15. Just had to reinstall the game, and it has not been any fun so far. 24 hours of fighting and counting, and I dont even get a badge! One reason its no fun is because now my cursor is UNDER the game. This is incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any idea how to fix?

Second, although I was finally able to actually get to my character-list, its telling me I can't log any specific character in because "stage 4 must be complete." WHAT? So confused and unhappy....
  16. QR: Well, the Underground trial is live now, and I've had several chances to assess it up close and personal.

    *BAF: fun.

*LAM: less fun, but you do it because you have to, to unlock certain things. At least it lacks that idiotic opening cutscene....

*Keyes: the anteroom of Gaming Hell. Nothing more, nothing less.

*Underground: needs a lot of teamwork. Gives high rewards, and the outcome is improving as people learn the trial. A fun trial and tests the limits of your powers, instead of killing you every 30 seconds. A learning curve is in place vs. sheer chaos, as with Keyes. The maps are beautiful. I'm in.

The moral of the story: [General] you can claim that people are too stupid to run Keyes - and this is the bare essence of many posts in here. General you can claim that Keyes "is a victim of bad press." My rhetorical question is, WHY is it getting bad press?

The "why" is the reason that even with upped rewards, people are avoiding Keyes like the plague, even as they cheerfully get on board to learn how to steamroll UG - and soon, we will be doing just that. Steamrolling it. In fact we are doing it now, in many cases.

So we're too stupid to learn, so we're slandering Keyes, gotcha, point made. The problem is that players are still not running it. Perhaps Keyes needs to be addressed by the development team. I found someone's assertion that some people zone into a trial and "intuitively know what to do," laugh-out-loud funny.

Those players don't have itrial Spidey-sense, they learned the trial during beta. No psychic superpowers are available in real life, that I know of.

Having most or all subscribers suddenly stop subscribing would be all the signal needed for NCsoft to cut the cord. That publisher doesn't play.
Is your position actually that Premium players who PAID, please note that word *PAID* for GR and recieved Incarnate access like we did in the good old days [when you paid for GR = Incarnate access] - that those who PAID would all cancel their subs en masse as a result, and this would cause the game to fail?

Are you serious? Because that looks like a pretty wide leap of logic to me. But ok.

    I guess.

But, for whatever reason, I can't stand to play any MMO where I can't respec any time I want. The first time I want to respec and find I can't - or I get stuck when leveling because I can't decide how to spec, given that changing my decision in the future will be either hard or impossible - I simply leave the game.
I dont expect to be able to respec at any time. But my inability to respec at low levels is one thing that led me to stop playing The Distinguished Competition Online.

I had to fix mistakes by rerolling. Ugh.

As long as people were spending money on the game, who cares if they subscribe? SPENDING MONEY. That is the key concept.

Free players are out in a hinterland of their own making. However Premiums who PAY FOR THINGS should actually go all hog-wild and get what they paid for, capische? Or not....?

Carnifax: To gain Incarnate access you needed two things "back in the day" : GR Access and to pay a sub.
Non sequiter: no one did ANYthing before Freedom without paying a subscription. This is stating the obvious.

The point was - deny it as you may - that in order to have access to GR and, AND! the Incarnate system, one had to purchase GR. If there is proof otherwise I'd love to see it.

Now Incarnate access has been ripped out of the GR package. The marketing team can and will do what they want, meanwhile I will not be spending that $15 on my new second account. I'll use it for SG invites only; I am glad I found out about all this before I spent a lot of money on upgrades that won't apply to that account. Simple.

Amazing. See, what apologists are missing is that people like me were already spending money to bring our second accounts up to speed. Operative word: WERE.

But since buying GR anyways now denies Premium players the main point of GR - the Incarnate system - that's money that the game wont be getting out of me.

I have no incentive to spend money on stuff that might be arbitrarily redacted at any moment, i.e. GR no longer = access to Incarnate content today - who knows what else tomorrow? [And despite the metric crapton of backpedaling I see here, back in the day if you didn't have GR = no Incarnate access.]

People with this mindset will end up costing the game money.

Silly me, I had this idea that my having maintained a VIP account for almost 6 years meant that my secondary account might get a perk or two along the way. Thank goodness I now know differently.
  24. ...You know, I was just about to add the GR expansion onto my new second account.

Then I found out that Incarnate access was being ripped out of the GR, shall we say... experience. 'Cause you know, back in the day and all.... you had to have GR to be an Incarnate.

O-tay, Buckwheat! That's $15 more this game is not getting out of me! I will keep the secondary Premium account in order to invite my alts to SGs - and that's all I'll do with it, problem solved.
