  1. Is this an ASUS system? Google suggests it is.

If that's the case, it looks like it's a monitoring program that watches things like fan speeds and system temps. Whether that's useful is I suppose up to you. I'd suspect it's more valuable to folks who overclock and otherwise tweak system settings as such things will tend to stress the system more, make it run hotter, etc. and it could be useful then to make sure you're not about to have a meltdown. Assuming you're not doing those things, it probably isn't that useful until and unless something like a fan fails in which case it would (hopefully) warn you that you have a problem. 99% of the time though you won't likely care about it either way since I rather doubt it uses enough space or resources to make any practical difference in your system's performance.
  2. I'd agree, regular outages of a near-fixed period of time at a certain time are rather unusual. When components start going bad, they tend to be erratic or total in their failures. Your best bet seems to be to wait for the tech. They'll have the tools to diagnose everything. If it's not your system, then it will get fixed and if it is, you'll know it for certain at that point since all else will be eliminated as possibilities by the tech.

Given PR is an island, they can't exactly ship by truck. So not that surprising it costs a bit to get something there.

Sunstormer, the problem here looks to be entirely related to the Intel graphics chip being used. The OP is having issues not just in CoH it seems but video problems elsewhere. And while Puerto Rico isn't continental US, it is a US territory and geographically at least kinda part of NA. So I would tend to expect players there to not have the issue you describe. Though it is certainly possible they could. In this instance though, I don't think that's the issue.
  4. Well unfortunately, the driver version you have is the latest there is and it's still two years old. I suspect that is the main reason it still shows up as yellow there. It definitely sounds like your graphics chip is failing. My suggestion stands, I'd recommend going and getting a real video card and just not using the onboard graphics any more. You don't have to necessarily get anything very expensive, just a PCIE card that fits your budget will do. This column can give you some good suggestions at various price points as to what to buy.
  5. Ah, not boot to safe mode, run the game in safe mode. That would work better. When you get to the TOS screen of the updater but before clicking Agree, check the little checkbox that says Safe Mode. That will force the game into minimum graphics mode. See what it does then and slowy adjust settings upwards from there. Realistically though, your main problem is the fact you are using Intel graphics. Intel has never made a worthwhile graphics chip, ever. For better results, you really need to upgrade to a real graphics card. The good news is your system has a PCIE slot for such an upgrade. Pretty much even the cheapest PCIE video card you could possibly find for sale in your local computer store will be an upgrade from the graphics you have now.
  6. You got the wrong drivers. Those are motherboard drivers. It looks like the latest I can find for you are here. Try those.
  7. I suppose you could try turning McAfee all the way OFF and see if that makes a difference. I'd suggest disabling all of it's services and such just to be sure no part of it is running, then see what happens.
  8. If it doesn't self-resolve in a reasonable time frame, you'll have to contact Support. Something like that is almost certainly a problem on their end.
  9. Well that's typically a connection issue of some sort. If it persists then it will need investigating. Otherwise, it was likely just a glitch somewhere in the connection between you and CoH.
  10. Personally, I'm a fan of XFX. They make quality stuff and that lifetime warranty isn't bad either. As for a specific model, what's the budget? What are you willing to spend?
  11. I'm an idiot for not noticing it earlier but this is a laptop you're using and I'm thus guessing you're using a wireless connection. Have you tried plugging in and connecting over a wired connection? There have been some issues I believe since I17 with folks on wireless having connectivity issues. I'd suggest disabling the wireless when you try it just to make certain it doesn't interfere with the test.
  12. Yes, check your power situation anyways and also check for heat issues. Programs like CPU-Z and GPU-Z can monitor your cpu and gpu heat levels and other relevant info that might show an issue. It's possible the stress of CoH running is the cause of your issue as it may be causing something to overheat and shut the system off. You might also consider running Furmark. It's a graphics benchmarking and stress testing program.

    5770 Brand?

Also if you have some 'frontrunners' in mind you like, you can always look for reviews of them online. There's lots of tech review sites out there and all the major brands of a given video card model tend to get reviewed somewhere if not multiple times.
  14. A bit more drastic but go back to msconfig and the startup tab and just uncheck everything there and see if that helps. You can then slowly turn stuff back on (if it works) until you find the problem program and leave it off while running the rest if you want. Another thing I haven't seen suggested here is to remove and reinstall the game clean. Might be a bad file or something in the install causing an issue. You might also try updating your sound drivers, they're a bit old as well. Not likely the issue but couldn't hurt to try I expect.
  15. Furmark will run on Win 7 x64. I've run it myself. Any 32-bit program will ordinarily run just fine on a 64-bit OS. I'm sure there are some exceptions but as a general rule, they'll work just fine. As for setting your PC on fire, I'd say that's pretty unlikely. Stress your GPU and *maybe* make it fail, certainly possible. Part of the whole point of running it is to stress the GPU and make sure it is stable as well as benchmark what it can do.
  16. At that resolution and assuming the settings were cranked to the max, maybe it would help some. However as CoH doesn't presently support Crossfire, it's a moot point. There is a switch to force SLI support but I haven't heard of one for Crossfire. That said, the forced SLI switch is not officially supported and I'm not sure how strong the SLI support it gives is so I don't know that it even accomplishes very much. Presumably at some point they will get formal suport for SLI and Crossfire in but until then, single-card setups are the way to go.
  17. Run the CoHHelper program and paste up the results here. That should help us identify what may be your issue.
  18. If it's easily reporduceable as you kinda suggest, Support may be able to help.

I have a computer with a GTX 260 and much older parts but it seems to run just as fast.
May have at least a little to do with the fact that a 5830 is pretty much on par performance-wise with the GTX 260 and 275. It's technically better since it supports the newer DX and OGL standards but otherwise there isn't much notable difference.

    Need tech help.

Well I will add one vague semi-solution which is this: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm These are instructions to force the latest Intel drivers to install on your system. How much good they will do you I don't know for certain. However as this is not an 'officially supported thing to do' so it may have other consequences that I can't accurately predict. But it may at least get the game to work.
  21. How about trying the game in safe mode? That will force the graphics to minimum and you can shift up from there.
  22. Or put it back on ye olde auction site and see if you can get your money back that way while paying better attention to what you buy in future.
  23. If the drivers from Intel won't install, there are instructions here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm to get around the problem. But doing so can cause other issues.

I'll also note in addition to what TJ suggested that your hard drives are very full. This can impact system performance. Windows generally prefers you to have 20+% free space on the main drive in particular. I'd suggest doing some spring cleaning.
  24. Just tell the truth I suppose. If their hardware is legacy, they may have issues with no possible resolution. They can of course contact Support but the ultimate solution may be to upgrade.

If you don't like that, just send them to Support. As player volunteers here, you might argue that such 'bad news' delivery is above our pay grade.
