CoH isn't running normally

I have been out of CoH for 3 month.
4 days After reactive my account I have starter to get some strage like lag spike every mint.
Now i get it every 2 sec.

Is like someone pause the screen and fast foward the sound.
My computer run fine until a start the game.
I try playing on my other computer(Laptop) and when i log my character in,
everything is black, i can hear it and can see the menu of the powers, chat, ect normally.

Could be something about ultramode that I'm not aware of that is causing the problem?

Can anyone tell me where is my problem and how can i fix it?

This are the spec of my desktop

First off, your graphics drivers are well out of date.

Here's a link to the appropriate driver page.

Just select the appropriate version of Vista, and Drivers.

Current driver version is: 9.6.0.1014

This may or may not help, as Intel graphics have always been marginal at best.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

What is wonrg?

Thx for your help/advise

You have to unzip the file and then use the installer.
I'd also recommend uninstalling the existing drivers (if you can find an uninstaller for them).

I have unzip it.

Haven't uninstall the existing driver b/c the new one say isn't compatible. I have double check it and it's the last update on my driver.

The file the folder have are:

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ra/Drivers.jpg

The instrucion say: CHOOSING THE EXECUTABLE
************************************************** **********

If you have a 64-bit system, use F6flp64.exe.
If you have a 32-bit system, use F6flp32.exe.

None of the file in the folder have either .Exe file.

I'm using the intel driver donwload page @.@

I know how the process to install the update. So far i think they have the update broken or something like that.

You got the wrong drivers. Those are motherboard drivers. It looks like the latest I can find for you are here. Try those.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Do i need to donwload something else, or i need to do something else after finishing running the installed wizard?
Try rebooting the machine.
Also, try starting CoH with it's safe mode settings. See if you get smooth movement there.
From there, gradually raise your settings.

Ah, not boot to safe mode, run the game in safe mode. That would work better. When you get to the TOS screen of the updater but before clicking Agree, check the little checkbox that says Safe Mode. That will force the game into minimum graphics mode. See what it does then and slowy adjust settings upwards from there. Realistically though, your main problem is the fact you are using Intel graphics. Intel has never made a worthwhile graphics chip, ever. For better results, you really need to upgrade to a real graphics card. The good news is your system has a PCIE slot for such an upgrade. Pretty much even the cheapest PCIE video card you could possibly find for sale in your local computer store will be an upgrade from the graphics you have now.

I have log in in safe mode and still it freeze up and make a strange noise every sec.

Whatever it's only happens when I put something that requite the graphic card. I just try to run a 3D movie up and the same with the game happens.

The problem is the graphic card it see. I was hable to play without problem til sunday.

This is the status of my Graphic card now:

Why the driver version is still on yellow, I upgrade it (Right?) how you told me.Also when I check the web page,it said that the driver ver. is Ver:15.8.3.1504.

Well unfortunately, the driver version you have is the latest there is and it's still two years old. I suspect that is the main reason it still shows up as yellow there. It definitely sounds like your graphics chip is failing. My suggestion stands, I'd recommend going and getting a real video card and just not using the onboard graphics any more. You don't have to necessarily get anything very expensive, just a PCIE card that fits your budget will do. This column can give you some good suggestions at various price points as to what to buy.

I get this issue too, where are you from can I ask?

Do you also get lost connection to mapserver messages around the time this happens?

Lately a few of us have been getting the same thing now, mapserver disconnection then loading spikes, if you go to a loading screen it may even boot you to login screen.

It seems it affects people from outside of North America though more right now and the devs know of the issue that people outside NA get more frequent mapservers right now.

Thx a lot you 2, your advise really is helpful. Will start checking Ebay and such for the hardware to get Ultra Mode Max potential (On my budget...). Also finishing updating all my drives so this **** don't happen again >.<!

Thx again.
What kind of budget are you looking at for this too?

Addendum: JEEZE! Just looking at shipping on Newegg for Puerto Rico. Roughly 50% of sale price!

Given PR is an island, they can't exactly ship by truck. So not that surprising it costs a bit to get something there.

Sunstormer, the problem here looks to be entirely related to the Intel graphics chip being used. The OP is having issues not just in CoH it seems but video problems elsewhere. And while Puerto Rico isn't continental US, it is a US territory and geographically at least kinda part of NA. So I would tend to expect players there to not have the issue you describe. Though it is certainly possible they could. In this instance though, I don't think that's the issue.

Puerto Rico is "Part" of the US,but is more in a political/Paper view, as far I have hear, US have a more advance/fast network there. I friend of my tell me that the bandwidth there is on the GB while here is on the MB.Even hear that they are using a optic-fiber while only the government network have those in here.

Also my other laptop can't play the game either. But there is different, My laptop just stay black, the program is runnning but it don't show anything. I need to upgrade it his Graphic card also, the good think is that it's a AMD and have a nvidia card but not at fast as my desktop(3GB RAM).

The bottom line seen like I wasn't ready for ultramode and both computer just crash on it.Won't be able to play normally until i find a new graphic card

Hyperstriker: Anything under $200.
Right now comparing online option with the local store like Bestbuy,Radioshack ect. trying to see if the shipping/time wating is worth it. -_-!

It's likely that your laptop drivers also need to be updated.

Be aware that most laptop video cards are just GPU's built on to the motherboard, so it's not like you can pull out the video card and replace it like you can with a desktop. Heat is a real issue, I blew up two video cards on my HP laptop with an nVidia GPU.

When it comes to upgrading your desktop video card there are two things you need to take into consideration, the dimensions of the new video card and will it fit, and your power supply, it's got to be able to power the new video card. Most stock power supply units are woefully underpowered when it comes to the new video cards.

You should go ahead and run the CoH Helper for your laptop and post it here as well.

For internet? Most people are between 768K and 30MB down and 128K and 6MB up. The only places getting gig speeds for internet are VERY big businesses, research facilities, etc.

Radeon 5770: $164.99

Shipping to Puerto Rico seems via UPS seems to be $27.98 for UPS Ground. Tried multiple PR zipcodes and it was always the same.

So $192.97

Not sure what markup for PR Best Buy stores is, but they have something comparable (5770's) for around $200. Best bet is to call the store(s) near you and ask for specific types of card (like Radeon 5770).

UPS Ground would take approximately 7 days to reach you (though I'd pad an extra day or two in just because I'm a pessimist).

Don't forget it's a run of the mill Gateway system with sub-par power supply (~18A at 12V as best as I can tell). Also it's unlikely to have a 6-pin PCIe power connector and possibly doesn't even have enough spare 4-pin Molex connectors for the two, 4-pin to one 6-pin PCIe adapter.

Ya, good point indeed. If UM is the goal, then a PSU upgrade is probably going to be required to have the juice to run an upper-end card. I suppose case space should be mentioned as well. Not sure of the space that case has for a card but the top-end cards run 10"-12" long or so. So be sure whatever you get will fit. 5770s which will do UM fine on a budget I hear are around 9"-10" IIRC.
