The AE Storyteam from Triumph is branching out and Ænvading a new server every week! Our Ænvasion target for Sunday, June 12th is Protector!
Come join us for a simple, fun, AE team-up, where we will run non-farm AE arcs and share our unique playstyle with you! If you're an AE Enthusiast or just interested in teaming up with fun players and trying out something new, this Ænvasion is for you!
We will meet in the RWZ AE building so it's co-op and all levels & ATs are welcome to join.
I will be choosing some of AE's best stories and leading you on the missions, sharing our unique brand of teaming where we focus more on the story than just combat. We've scheduled the Ænvasion for Sunday, June 12th at 12 noon Eastern/9am Pacific in RWZ.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please post here and let us know. If you have any questions or arc suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em! I look forward to playing with ya and showing off the fun side of AE!
tl;dr version:
What: Story-driven AE teaming
About us: The AE Storyteam is a group of players, and authors, who meet every weekend to run AE story arcs and search out the best AE has to offer! We're always looking for new members who have a passion for playing & creating AE arcs! You can find members most times on the global channel, "MA Arc Finder" Join in the AE fun today!
Who: Open to all players (any level or AT)
Where: AE Building in Rikti War Zone
When: Sunday 6/12, Noon Eastern/9am Pacific
Why: For FUN! -
It was good having you and the rest of the Champion crew this weekend, Steel! Very fun time all around
Here's a review of the event for those that missed it:
It was a great turnout for week 8's Ænvasion of Champion! Nearly 2 full teams of players showed up for my loosely themed Canon-Related picks of the week!
#358532 "Kidnap the Super-Brats" by @Kid Voodoo
1 Mish, Villain
#60197 "Becky's Revenge" by @New Age Ronin
2 Mish, Villain
#346904 "Against the Wickerwork Khan" by @Clave Dark 5
3 Mish, Neutral
One of my favorite features of AE is the ability to create your own stories that could actually fit into existing CoH lore. Whether it's expanding on concepts already presented or using the existing lore as a background to create an alternate reality, the AE gives authors a unique playground to share their love of the rich background and characters of Paragon City.
Many thanks to the players of Champion for putting up with my many team-wipes and not letting it get you down in the slightest! You get the GOOD NATURED SERVER award for such great attitudes
With that said, I chose 3 unique arcs that really shine for players familiar with CoH lore!
Kidnap the Super-Brats is a 1 mission challenge arc that may be light on story, but is super-rich in details and canon ties. Playing the part of a villain is especially sweet when you realize just whose kids you're nabbing and it's a nice change of pace from your typical villainous loot run! Note: the Super-Brats are no pushovers, so be prepared for a real challenge on this arc with a team or solo. BEST CHALLENGE of the week!
If you've ever met Becky the Tarantula in Vernon Von Grun's missions in CoV, then you will especially enjoy Becky's Revenge. One of CoV's most memorable characters comes to life in this simple and hilarious revenge arc that pits you against fan-favorite-punching bag, Fusionette! Even if you're not familiar with Becky, you'll fall in love with her enthusiastic dialog as you hatch a brilliant scheme. LIKE, TOTALLY BEST CHARACTER of the week!
Our last arc this week was on a more serious note. The Wickerwork Khan is an adventure into an alternate Paragon, where familiar characters are slightly skewed (if you call being a Panda "slight!") The dialog, character details, and drop-dead gorgeous customs on this arc make it stand out as an AE classic. See if you can spot who's a counterpart of whom and be ready for an unexpected twist on the final mission! A treat for the eyes and your creative bone, this arc gets BEST OVERALL for the week!
Thanks!
Next Sunday (6/12/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Protector Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone at our regular time: 9am Pacific/noon Eastern. I'm trying to get together a list of good Steampunk arcs, but if that doesn't happen I'll have a diff fun theme ready to roll! Remember, all levels and ATs are welcome, so feel free to make an alt and join the Ænvasion! -

With the new steampunk booster out I'm hankering for some retro-venture!! If you've got a fun, steamy, punky arc or know of a good one you've played in the past, please post it here so I can give it a spin!
Thanks -
Backfire wants to know:
What are some fun ways to spice up AE missions?
Where can I find other players who want to team up for non-farm AE arcs?
How can I thank an author for a good arc besides giving a 5 star rating?
What tips do you have for players who are forming/leading AE story arcs?
Where's the best place to find a tasty cup-o-joe in AE? -
Love it PW. Elegant in its simplicity.

Just can't get "X-cited" for this film. The previews look dull and slow. And it's going to feature Havoc and Banshee? Really? If the reviews hold up it may make it to the matinee list, but for now it's a "maybe if I'm bored as heck and see it avail at a Redbox. Maybe."
-
Welcome to the boards, Gunbunny! Hope you can make it this weekend and YES we plan to Ænvade Union and Defiant in our last 2 weeks. I'm still leveling up alts on each and I hope to be at least 20-25ish by Ænvasion time

Despite the holiday weekend, Liberty players still showed up for Week 7's Ænvasion! Lord of Storms led an enthusiastic crowd of players thru 3 fun-filled AE arcs!
#28290 "Papers and Paychecks" by @PW
5 Mish, Rogue
#25295 "The Extadine Lab" by @Vanden

#54314 "The Pickup Team from Heck" by @Doctor Minerva
3 Mish, Heroic
A big thanks to Lord of Storms for taking on the leader responsibilities this week. I was out of town so I don't have reviews but I recognize all of the arcs from my "favorites" list and highly recommend each of them. They're all a bit on the comedy side with Papers and Paychecks being the most well-rounded arc with it's ties to canon.
A big THANK YOU to the players of Liberty, too! We know players have a lot of other options for spending their time on holiday weekends and we really appreciate you coming out and playing with us
Give 'em a run and judge for yourself!
Next Sunday (6/5/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Champion Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone at our regular time: 9am Pacific/noon Eastern. Looks like I'm picking arcs this week, so if you have any favorites you'd recommend, send 'em my way! Remember, all levels and ATs are welcome, so feel free to make an alt and join the Ænvasion! -
Thanks for the reviews First Son! Glad you had a good time and look forward to seeing ya this weekend. Now, on to my regular summary:

Back from my va-cay, and looking for the down-low on this weekend's Ædventures! How was our turnout on Memorial Day weekend? What arcs did ya play? Any reviews on them?
I'm hard at work figuring out what arcs to run for next Sunday's Champion Ænvasion. Hope to see ya'll there! -
Reminder: the Ænvasion is this Sunday! Come out and join us for some story-arcing action!

Quote:Please, by all that is Holy, add Group Fly to the decline list!!!
Group Fly and Team Teleport Prompt/Options: (Reading in between the lines of his cryptic answer about it...) If he finds the time, he'll do it. But it may not happen if he doesn't have the time or the powers that be nix it because it wasn't an official decision of the group. -

Awesome cover PW, congrats! Has TPF hit HoF yet? It so needs to!

Quote:I'm very passionate about AE and I've adopted a similar rating/reviewing method over time. I still feel downrates have their place, tho, as there needs to be a way to distinguish the better arcs from the pack.Ask yourself: [I]Are you truly passionate about Architect Entertainment or just your creations?
One of the best things we, as a community, can do is give constructive feedback. A low rate and no comment doesn't help anybody. There's a million different reasons someone can downrate a story arc, but if they don't tell you why, you can't judge whether it's something you can improve or not.
I try to keep my comments very objective, highlighting aspects I liked and focusing suggestions on technical elements that can be improved.
It's unfortunate that the rating system favors Farms over Story Arcs. Farms have a distinct advantage in many aspects:They're quick
OTOH, a Story Arc:
Convenient
Beneficial to replay
Beneficial to play with a team
Maximized for OBJECTIVE rewards
Judged/Rated on OBJECTIVE rewardsIs often better experienced solo
The true solution to this can only come from an overhaul of the system which has been discussed many times. And, despite the flawed system we have, I'll still do my best to promote playing story arcs and support the Æuthors & players that make AE so much fun!
Requires a slower pace to read
Requires a substantial time commitment
Has very little replay value
Offers low-to-average objective rewards
Judged more on subjective merits -
There were no May entries?!?
Emperor Cole has already won... -
Not at home so I can't check availability...
but brainstorms:
Triggerman
HiredGun
Assassin 8 -
Played for about a week after level shift then bumped up to +1/x3 on my blaster. Fighting blues is boring.
Made for a couple hairy PuG missions & TF starts when I forgot I'd changed 'em. >.< -
Maybe an Admin played your arc and thought it was for the birds.
-
You can get to the roof of most buildings without a travel power. Simply hop from window sill to window sill til you reach the top. Many buildings also have ramps/stairs.
-
Wow, Supa, that looks like a major rework! I look forward to getting in and checking out all the changes.
I told you it'd be interesting to see how players respond to the Clue concept you've come up with.
You may want to see if you can get some non-AE regulars to play thru it as a team to get their take, too, as a lot of MA regulars have certain expectations of an arc going into it.
Plus, you intended the arc for TEAM play, which skews the missions' pace & difficulty when it's reviewed by solo characters. I guess, what I'm saying is, "Don't give up on the concept yet." -
I just like the name, "PeachPuff!"
Great tool Supa, thanks for this -
Of course we're open to requests. We've already got a long list of proven arcs we normally choose from, but if you've got something you'd like us to consider, please share!
If nothing else, we'll at least give it a run and some feedback prior to this weekend
