Yeah after thinking more about it, Musc. seems like a great way to keep my damage even higher. I think I will rework this build at a later date once I save up some more Inf since I just blew it all on the Fire/Regen/Soul.
-
Quote:This doesn't really answer my question why I shouldn't use swipe in my attack chain. With 2 damage procs and the recharge as fast as it is I could keep that as a melee attack chain if I wanted to die of boredom. But it does seem to make sense to me to use that in my attack chain. Not at a PC right now so I can't use Mids, but generally I'd argue that what makes a Claws pylon soloer also makes a good claws generalist. This assumes you get at least some AoE, I went with Spin and Shockwave myself.
So yes, running FU-Focus-Slash is very, very nice. In general use, you may get more mileage out of FU-Focus-Spin, though.
Edit:that came off defensive but seriously why wouldn't I want it in my chain? -
Why wouldn't I want to use Swipe in that attack chain? It recharges in half it's cast time and it's got 2 damage procs, one of which is the purple. I'm not really going for pylon soloer here, I'm going for Task Force leader (all my toons, people pretty much expect me to form everything). So I need to be able to do plenty of ST and decent AoE damage as well is survive pretty much any type of alpha in the game for at least a few seconds while the others catch up to me.

My Claws/SR scrapper used to be one of my favorites...that was until my Night Widow came around and did everything he could do, and then buff the team. But I see new hope in BL00DSTAIN once again with the addition of PPP's. /SR and Hibernate just seem like a match made in heaven, and with inherent fitness and NR/BR I can finally take the medicine pool and not feel like I should have just played something else. I would just skip a travel in favor of the NR/BR+Sprint+Swift+Hurdle+Quickness.
I was able to come up w/ some numbers:
45.9% Defense to all
Aid Self w/ 44% heal a little less than 6 second recharge and half a second of interrupt
Hibernate every 60 seconds, and if I can't last 60 seconds, I think I've got other issues
192.5% recharge with one-slotted perma-hasten after Spiritual Core Paragon
So here is the build, please tell me if i'm doing something wrong

I really don't understand why if you are soft capped to all 3 positions you are worried about typed defenses too. Once you softcap to the positions you are softcapped to all typed too by proxy. Defense takes the positional and typed and uses the defense you have the highest number to. Also I know you were explicitly clear on not taking hasten but I really cannot see why except for the glowie hands. On any toon there is no way that there isn't a power you could skip for hasten to improve your build. It is pretty much like throwing in 7 sets that give 10% recharge each. But it only takes at most 3 slots of a cheap regular io.
-
Yeah I got that, sorry if it came off defensive. Was just trying to explain my thought process. I appreciate all of your help.
-
soul tentacles is cone and takes more time to set up then web envelope. i already plan on spending most of my time in melee, so i like the fact that i can just pop WE from anywhere. also same logic applies to shatter armor over dark oblit. Yes i know dark oblit it TAoE, but my play style and role on my teams is always to find the hard targets and take them out. Aoe is just extra.
-
I guess the title to this thread is misleading. No pets are not the goal of this build. At all. They were just nice little extras once I got the basics covered. Also I have no desire to rely on pets for damage, I went Mace Mastery solely for Shatter Armor.
-
i approve of your changes vern. i wasn't really too sold on the whole taking assault thing anyway.
-
Yeah I thought they changed that in mids to show defense out of hidden status but it did seem too easy to be true. On my phone atm but will check your build later at home.
-
noted, and they are just that, extra. i mean i really have all the other bases covered, wouldn't you say?
-
Thanks for the heads up. That was the only thing you saw that really needed mention? Pretty sweet.
-
So you mean take one of the end/acc or end/rech and turn them into a +end? that makes my recovery go down. Or are you suggesting I 4 slot it, in which case what should I take a slot out of?
-
So I've had a Huntsman sitting in the mid thirties for a while now, and I haven't really given a build a real good shot since i19 went live. I started messing around and this is what I came up with.
46.6% Defense All except Ranged is 55%
212.5% Recharge (on top of what would be eventually Spiritual Core Paragon)
Perma Arachnos Blaster and Call Reinforcements
A full melee attack chain with only the high damage Mace attacks (including Shatter Armor from the PPP)
A full ranged attack chain.
Giving whole team and my pets roughly 21% defense to all.
Here's the mids build
Code:I have not played this toon in a long time, but have always wanted a good Huntsman. Also I have a Widow that is one of my mains so I am used to the whole ranging and melee w/ different attack chains, but this build looks like it could easily over shadow my Widow. If any of you experienced Huntsman could let me know if I'm completely screwing this up I would appreciate it.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1475;725;1450;HEX;| |78DA65935B4F134114C767BB5B2A2D152AB7722948B1B4F4B2B482126F2188A8281| |8B0C09BA94B774237A9DB667731F2E667D044E3E533688C51D4E8831FC4447D578C| |12DF0C9E3D6780D536CDFE66CE9CF39F73CECC2CDCB9D0C2D8DD292675CD5435DB2| |E4D5B5AB962D6EC52B156D50D6E05AE69CE86A5554397374CC7E6D62DC3D4038CB1| |C4FF8EB67A5E3379A95837746EED1913CB96669886B95EBAA4E9EBDCF9D7696F313| |26756B8C54D47DD1B04176BB5AA5AAC73AE877178D158AF38E0DA8AB379AE41BC5D| |31EA119CCF99B70DDB5833AA86B3D9355B37CAEAEAECF47269412B73F8D80EB736A| |390739A797FBB7E56F03156606D79C218E2884AC8213A3E02DAD9B310044818C5D8| |71D95DD90293442649EA844194F9FEC02CC62082C9620BF92920C9942784C788A64| |78487885C16F5DC1DFC1425F933CC351D2628F00D08BDC024A675E824E104A26582| |308E188AA3DE5B106CA6FC7CCD945FB04D72578293605464D6040809DDD01BDAF11| |5629824D22F7136B645788D88432A61D18AB0C813BEAD24A4B4663089DE34A27F94| |90420C2411AE6B44B847382A74E888AE32610DD17B132105DC13A00DDB7BD1F41ED| |2EE14BDEFCCA12949780E2BDDA2EA6EAA3A2ACA8D52F56D30EB117DEEA1FC0B0419| |36EA1395F5B92231A6802926E462243720E40648CE2D64503471F01CD677F42CE10| |CE1349DCA29C214763602BA71A11B27DD11D24B0AF90F5048423429F1D5E72633F2| |85F00991FC8C48CFA0EE0EC8A6847B6A054DA3CB8422E13A22BD847811662C23DC3| |33A5EC32C9D44968E204B4790A323F80DEA2AB9CBEA0E2A8CFD42147E12B611EF20| |E9BCE8607E0843FB95FDF7067FF8B1748325DF60293458C61B2C130D96ABCAFE2BD| |D9D573C2F56C6EC16156101938401CD70196411F02DE879CF74997C84ED8315595A| |C5533AB64258225C91DC0E7EF72AA4A87F841F072B3EE90126337C8F701FB10417B| |C2012590BBA0234D63CE31B9EF1A267FC17D617F3E9| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

tl:dr most of it but the squishy wp comment i just read above this makes me laugh and makes mine want to smash.
i just wanted to answer the questions of why i like to speed run. it's a race against myself to see if i can beat my own best times. -
You make very valid points and I forgot about the single stacking of the achilles heel but it will stack with the gladiator's fury or w/e the pbaoe pvp set is -res proc that u can put into irradiate and hit often. But yeah you are probably right dual sonic attack probably is superior overall...but I don't like to use mez powers if you don't have to and cones like howl take more time to set up than pbaoes like irradiate. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the faster blasting decent aoe damage sets when you are pairing two emps. I have both a rad/sonic and an emp/rad and I much prefer the rad/sonic. I also have a sonic/mm blaster that I like a lot so it isn't like I don't like sonic. Just think a lil variety in the pair would spice things up.
-
I'm surprised no one said this but I would pair it as emp/sonic and emp/rad for defense and res debuffing, and you can slot tons of achilles heel procs for even MORE res debuffs. And yes, //dark is the only choice for that combo. And whoever mention screech and oppressive gloom...uh why? They're already tanks, what's the point of mezzing the mobs? That's taking away from the damage they should be pouring out.
-
I finally got your build to open up in mids, and there are definitely changes that need to be made, I am making them now and will post it soon.
Edit: I found myself just remaking my build...seriously, my build is pretty solid. Just copy it lol.
Edit 2: I also updated the post that had my build so you can see the set names and such. But it is still easier to look at it in mids.
Edit NUMBER THREE!(because I've already littered this thread hard-core) I figured out that if I slotted the spiritual total core alpha(and eventually the very rare core spiritual) that i can move a lot of slots around and make my end usage better. Here it is w/ the tier 3 spiritual total core revamp:

Resistance on a kin controller can be hard to come by outside of the epic shields and tough. Tough will only get you smashing lethal res as well. If you were trying to build for toughness against fire I would stay with the fire shield and then use sets like aegis to boost your fire defense as much as possible. That being said, farming demons is a little out-dated. Most fire/kins these days go /stone mastery to soft-cap sm/lethal and farm BM warriors or ae sm/l farms. Stone also gives you a way to perma cap hp.
-
Local man made some very valid points, if I actually did anything with my fire/kin besides farming my main acct I may actually rework my build with some of his ideas.

I completely got this thread mixed with another in that last post. Power boost will do a bit more on a cold than dark miasma which is what I was thinking. But more soul drain plus sleet and irradiate ftw!
-
True power boost will make your defense buffs and your tohit and regen debuffs better but will not effect -res or -demamge. I think that the only thing dark really lacks is offense so I would still stick with dark mastery.
-
Sooooooulllll draaaaaaaiiiinnnnn...and don't be tempted by soul mastery bc soul drain's rech is twice as long.
-
Well my gaming time usually consists of leading speed task forces so I am probably in the minority, but I run in, hit soul drain, use my debuffs and let my single target hit the big baddies while the actual "damage dealers" do their aoe to knock out all the little guys. I do however jump back and use tt and nightfall when it seems appropriate. Leading with tt and nightfall can work too, safer but less damage than if you soul drain first.
