Well, I know Renowned is somewhere around 4000, maybe?
*sigh*
I wish I didn't care enough and just to put a bunch of smileys, but alas I cannot! -
Is the list of available standard forum titles available anywhere? I'd like to see what my next tier is...I fear it is, indeed, Forum Cartel and I have a LOT of work to do.

If you *had*to put together some sort of "magic formula" for things that will get you generic'd, it might look something like this:
Copycat costume + copycat name (copycat bio)= generic'd
Copycat costume + unique name + unique bio = not generic'd
...seems simple enough to me. -
Quote:"Quite a few" reads as: Mr. Fantastic, Elongated Man, Plastic Man. Maaaaybe the Venom/Carnage family. So...that quantitative statement is purely subjective. I, for one, wouldn't call it a *staple* comic book power. I'd use it if it were ever implemented, sure, but as the game engine exists now it's not possible.I know that, but I was simply answering the question. There are quite a few elastic, stretching heroes and villians out there and its something we don't have. The question didn't ask "what comic book stable powers do we have that are only possible with the current engine.
Quote:No, more like Filipino Stick fighting. Though the more that I've thought about it, a simple substitute would be to add batons, wooden sticks, night sticks, tonfas, etc... models to dual blades.
Quote:It's not entirely impossible. Just as with dual pistols first appearing with masterminds, eventually the entire powerset was created for players to use, so can whip melee. Is it more work, yup, but within the realm of possibility.
Regarding thrown weapons, I meant along the lines of knives, shuriken, grenades. There could be some that explode, like exploding shuriken. Or even alternate models for the sets.
Walk walking isn't "Impossible with the current engine." There are complications with it, probably moreso now because I'm betting there's lack of documentation on it. Remember the BAB shark haning out on the portal corp wall?
I'll admit that I have no idea about the probability of grappling swinging or some other varient, but there were many people who claimed it was also impossible to customize powers. Things can change.
As for whips? The three whip powers for Demon Summoning took as much animation/production/coding time as an entire powerset, so...do the math. Not labor or profit-efficient at the time. -

I know there's a way to bind a key to select teammate #1, #2, etc., but not sure how that'd work with a League. My veeeeeeeeery old Empath (when I was young and stupid) used them for the ST heals in Empathy, like using numpad1 to select teammate 1, then whatever heal power hotkey...but if they're out of range, they're out of range. Not your fault.

This is a situation that cries for metaphor:
If you make a green-skinned SS/INV with Phase Shift named the "Venusian Dude Hunter" it will be genericed.
If you make a character named Invulnerable Chick who has a red, blue and yellow costume, it may or may not be.
If you do what I did, you won't be.
TL;DR: If it looks like too much of a copycat, it'll get generic'd. Watch the name and the bio, mostly. -
*cough*
I, for one, agree with Claws that something *could* be done with SS.
Yes, Hyper, I use Taunt, and Judgment, and Sands while I have my Rage crash, and it's less of a lull, but a lot of times it's still a lull. If I'm soloing, and the enemies are in melee range, why would I use Taunt? Simply to have "something to do?" That's not right.
If you, for example, removed *just* the ability to stack it, and nothing else, only those builds who focused on perma-double-stacking would notice it, really. As a brute, I don't really notice much (and yes, I know there is one) of a difference between stacked and not.
The fact that stacking negates the defense debuff would need to be addressed by, perhaps, removing it entirely and simply increasing the end cost at the end. Make it 35 endurance or something. Still have to watch for the crash coming so you can make sure you don't detoggle, but it wouldn't be "unfair" to defense based armor sets.
Also, don't allow Rage's damage buff to apply to anything other than Super Strength powers. The fact that the "best DPS" chain, which I don't use because it's not conceptually relevant, only uses one SS power is broken, frankly, and needs to be changed.
If you still want to go the Follow Up route, then remove all the limitations placed on SS powers because of Rage. Increase their base damage, decrease their recharge times, and definitely remove the extra 25% recharge added to KOB. In that vein, reduce Rage's damage buff to, say, 40%, let it double-stack, keep the other penalties, but reduce the damage debuff to -100%, instead of -10000%. Then, at least, you could do something around un-enhanced damage with each power instead of single digits, plus you still have the "work around the crash" strategy which does, to me, make SS more fun to play than standard sets. -
Well, the main response (and the way I play these kinds of ideas) is this.
I have a level 50 SS/Inv Brute. Her name is Liberteene. Her costumes are, in order:
- Traditional four-color (red/white/blue/gold) unique look (Liberty Bell emblem on chest)
- Supergirl tribute (Liberty Bell instead of S shield)
- Ms. Marvel tribute (Again, with the bell emblem)
- Ms. Marvel as Binary tribute (same deal)
- Armored version of costume #1
I don't play in the same costume all the time, and some of them use different animations/auras/power colors, etc.
There's a *huge* difference between that and those same costumes on a "Carel Danvors" or "Sooperchick" or "Carrie Zor-Ell" or something like that. If it's obvious to the GM that your character is a direct rip-off in name and costume (and sometimes, they're ballsy enough to put it in the bio as well), you will be generic'd. Especially if other players petition you first, which I do as often as I can, because I have no tolerance for laziness and blatant disregard for the EULA. -
Or fire! My Supergirl-esque one on there used a lot of fire attacks for some reason. I never could figure that out.

I actually played with Lumi's TA/A, son! I'm old school.
On that note, something a little more like this?

"Intensities" are not animations.
-
Well done with the Legion, sir.
*applause* -

The issue with "shield throwing" isn't in the "bouncing from enemy to enemy," IIRC. It's the "We can't animate the shield on your arm *as well as* the shield projectile, because of the way the costume part of the actual shield works. It would look silly if you threw your shield and it was still attached to your arm, plus the obvious power balance issue of having to wait until the shield comes back in order to use your "shield bash" or whatever.
As I've said upthread, I have absolutely no issue with extending the eye-beam animation to other powers, but it wouldn't look "Cyclopsy" enough with the Energy Blast Kirby dots for people, I'd guess. -
Beam *Rifle* is just that. A rifle. Could they switch it up and have, say, wrist-mounted laser gauntlets? Absolutely.
To change it to come out of your face would be...less than ideal.
