Well, DUH I'm buying GR...I mean, I'm not that much of a noob.

So...back legitimately from 2 back-to-back Middle East deployments...got my own apt, hi-speed, HDTV, and I'm ready to kick some butt.

Who's still around that remembers me and can talk me through what's been going on in-game?

When were these Invuln buffs? I don't remember any ones announced lately...

So after 5 months of having no CoX but my un-updated copy of Mids' (I'm on deployment) I've decided I want to make a Mace/Shield brute when I get home.

...these will both be new sets to me, and I know they've gotten a lot of changes since February, some of which I know and some I don't.

Basically, I have some questions:

1. Can I skip any of the ST attacks in Mace? Seems like Jawbreaker and shatter are pretty similar, with new Clobber being useful.

2. How viable is Shields without any IO support? I was planning on taking the team powers (mostly because I like teaming and for the DEF debuff resistance), maybe tough and weave, but I don't want to have like 9 toggles to even live through a full spawn. Got that on my fire scrapper, thanks.

3. What kind of helpful tips/tactics have people found for shields?

4. How cool are the customizable maces? Especially with the new costumes I've seen that have been released lately.

Duly noted...I'm excited to be home during most of football season, so I need a good bar where everybody kinda knows each other so I can hang out.

So we're on the way home (yay!) and I can finally get on long enough to answer these questions:

I'll be back at Ft. Meade, MD from mid-August until early December, then back to Norfolk.

I'm an MC (Mass Communication Specialist) 3rd Class (SW), and I'll have my own car so I want people to hang out with. I didn't get much of a chance to meet locals when I was there two years ago, so I want to get out more. Plus, I'm now single again, so...yeah.

I know it's still a ways out, but I'll be back in the States in August! Huzzah! Like, not even a whole month!

In other good news, I'm going to advanced training school for the Navy back in Maryland from August to December, so I'll be back in the dorm-type setting rather than the ship (puke), which means broadband and my OWN ROOM...plus very few rules and musters and whatnot.

That being said, I'm trying to figure out my first project for my return. With our 'net being so crappy, it's hard to do research and use searchfu, so is there any way anybody can give me a quick update of things that have differed significantly since late February?

...I hear /nrg for Doms is now good? That makes me happy, I kind of want a Dom.

Not sure exactly what I would like, and my budget's limited...I may even just ask for my wife to buy it for *my* gift.

I think a battle scene would be really special, maybe...I can't get screenies right now (I'm underway until the 30th), but I *could* get my wife to maybe take some. I really wish she actually played the game so you could do something like that wedding gift.

So, I've been wanting to get some art done of one or two (or a few...) of my best characters since, well, forever.

Now, with my Navy steady check, and other financial weights lifted, I can begin entertaining the possibility of ordering a commissioned work or two.

A simple wallpaper, individual portraits, something really awesome to show people who are interested in CoX, to get them enthused about the character creator.

Who are the best of the best?

Also, my wife mentioned wanting something CoX-related for our 1st anniversary (re: the traditional paper gift) in two weeks, so I thought this would be a cool thing.

I've got access to professional photo printers, so I can take digital stuff and matte/frame it myself, at least for the gift.

How does one go about getting something like this done? My lappy doesn't take good screenshots, and I'd be afraid an important detail would be missed.
