Looks like it's time to take a break.... *argh*

As most of you know, I've recently had to move in with my parents due to a combination of being unemployed and planning to relocate to New Zealand in September to be with Alicia...and with a little luck, I'm gonna be there for a -long- time....

...at present, my PC is still without it's own online connection, and I don't anticipate it getting one right through when I'm planning on leaving Tennessee....

Tragically, this means that there's no point in investing the monthly fee to play if I cant -play-, and every little bit helps right now for this trip.

I'm of the understanding that even with the account deactivated for a few months, I won't lose any of my characters(but will likely lose anything that was in Wenthworths), but won't gain any Veteran progress....

I also won't be able to post, but I WILL continue to read the forums everyday as I have ever since signing up...I'm also in the process of arranging for someone to keep me updated of anything out of the ordinary that occurs in-game.

Now this by no stretch of the imagination means I'm gone for good...come early September, once I'm settled in with Alicia, our new PC will find itself loaded up and ready to once again be blasting the bad guys into next week!

I'm paid up until July 9th, I believe, so until then, I'll be around as usual, trying to make sure those closest to me have a way to reach me once I can't post anymore....

...this REALLY sucks, you know...I need my friends now more than ever, as I prepare for the biggest adventure of my life...and I can't be with them....

WW has that 60 day policy, just remember that.

Enjoy your time off and good luck with the move!

Hey, I have a question. Is is "allowed" to ask for someone to pay for a month of CoX in the forums FOR you?

Couple of things,WW no longer has the 60 days policy. You can leave stuff there for as long as you want.
At present there is no way for others to gift you any thing. You would have to give them your account info and let them use it to buy whatever.

Oh,and good luck with everything Blitz

While I appreciate the thought more than you can imagine, Moldy, it's just that I can't get my PC online...it's in a room with no means of connecting...;o.k., there -are- 2 ways, neither of which would be pleasant, and I'm not sure 1 of them would even work...:

The 1st is to have the old phone jack in the room reactivated and have a new DSL line installed; this would be the easiest way, but it makes no sense to pay for installation and 2 months of service whereupon I'd have no use for it once I leave.

The 2nd could involve a USB wifi adaptor...we have a router in another room that the PC I'm typing this on now is hooked into...and while my Wii can pick it up fine(the Wii is configured to 'read' it), I dunno the router's WIP info and have no means(or even HOW to) of getting this...and would this even work in the 1st place?

I remember back on OoBe in the old days when NOIS (Now: Kois) was a new player I'd always pester him about playing the Croatoa TF with me. We had lots of fun. He was a badge [censored] if there ever was one! He enjoyed doing it Anyway, the point of my story is that NOIS used to play CoH on a Computer from one of those public places where you pay to play. I'm not sure if he was using his own computer or using the one they provided which is what I had always assumed because he came on once and was asking around if he did anything really mean to people and stuff. He said he left his account online by accident or something and someone got on there. Anywhoooo... Don't do anything illegal just to play the game I'll still be here. I just can't figure out how to use a widow. I'll be trying to figure it out until you return.

Question 2: Can you still post on the forums even if you stop paying/put your account on hold?

I'm still looking for a decent local internet cafe...if the fees are reasonable, and the place looks safe enough, I could play from there...I'll update as events warrant there....

To answer the next question; once your account goes inactive, you can read, but NOT post here...I'd be a pure lurker...but I could always have someone post a message for me via email or some such....

...on another note, when I *DO* come back, there's something I've always wanted to do in-game...; I've always dreamt of hand-picking a group of players(instead of just recruiting at large) to run a challenging TF/SF...taking the best players I know personally, and kicking the living bajeezus out of it! Nothing like a speedrun, persay, but just steamrolling over anything the TF/SF could put in our path....

Ah well, if nothing else, I have awhile to think about it!

I have a forum account you can use. Change the name and post with it if you like. I totally don't use it at all. It's collecting dust.

Again, I appreciate the thought, but you hang onto that account...I'll find a way to post by proxy, just you wait....

Provided you can get wifi on the computer you want to play on there's no reason that you couldn't play by wifi. You may need to set up an access point to relay the signal from the wireless router to your PC, but it's not real hard.

No way to get the security codes for the wifi huh? Can you reset the settings to factory defaults of the wireless router? Then when they are at defaults, you can reset the security, with new keys that you and your parents know.

That's a nice guy. I Wonder if that could be considered donating to charity and a write-off on my taxes.

if your wireless was setup by your service provider, call them and ask them to help walk you thru it. If it is not from your ISP there is always the owners manual or look up instructions on the manufacturers website. If you need a USB WiFi adapter send me a PM , I have a few new in the box lying around. For as much of a great help you were to the SG , hero and vill side, back in the day , it's the least I can do.

it really helped out 2 of our members for a month or 2....we chipped in "in game " money to compensate ppl who donated

I appreciate the offer, and will definitely be keeping it in mind.

I didn't even think about looking up the website for the company that made the router...*makes note*....

What still puzzles me is that the router, while hooked up to a new computer and with a wifi usb adaptor, can still talk to my Wii fine, but the DS Lite that I have can't anymore, despite it talking to it fine while the router was still on -my- PC....

Posted

The only thing I can think of is that the DS may not be set to "Auto-obtain IP address" in the wireless security settings. Thats the only thing I can think of other than obvious WEP/WPA security key being incorrect.

I'll so volunteer for that mega-TF run come August, man.
