I understand what a mule is...but it just seems to me that brawl doing half the damage of Boxing with the same slotting doesn't make sense, even if Brawl is endurance-free.
-
I can sort of see taking both...but it's something I've always avoided to simplify my gameplay. As for the flight question...it's a Supergirl/Ms. Marvel/Power Girl tribute character, so...jet packs won't cut it.
-
Talking about the "threshold of morality," what is it in the "needs of the many" scenario? One for one million? Does that number exist?
Was Superman held culpable for the destruction of Coast City, even though he's saved the entire WORLD's population hundreds of times?
And then, of course, you have the Stanford incident as well... -
Issues with this build:
(Purely thematic, mind you)
I *need* Flight. I can live without Spring Attack. I don't need Hasten, I don't think, because that's 2 powers I'd like to have on auto, and I don't know that I could keep up with clicking one or the other. -
Yeeeeeeeeah...two runs down into the 20s, only to have someone "accidentally" kill a Light was...frustrating, to say the least.
Wouldn't you be able to check Tyrant's info window for that info? Also, for the best chances of success you'd just need a bunch of Psi/Rad Corruptors, and they'd have him down within five minutes. -
Quote:I haven't laughed so hard at something on the Internet in like...at least a day. Well played, sir.Mailboxes and bus shelters should not be able to be Feared no matter how powerful a psychic you are.
On topic...no, changing it (at least in the hard code) would be silly, and it's a slippery slope. Also, if you just change it in the UI (but it's still coded as Fire damage) there's a HUGE risk of confusion where new players ask "Where do I get heat damage resistance as a fire tanker?" and the mocking berating that would follow. -
I think we're close to getting this...I know I'm dropping Therma's Char and Fire Blast for Tactics/Assault, and I've gotten good at dodging the lightning (and it's much easier when others do too, there's only about a 3-5 second stoppage in DPS when there are clear paths back to Tyrant).
Team insps help a lot too, and I reeeeally hope we can get this done so I can quit wasting my Astrals on Ultimates...I have too many alts to run enough trials to get Astrals to spare. -
So...apart from the purples (and the LOTGs, which are about as expensive), this is *very* interesting! I like the addition of the Cryo Judgement.
As for me, though...I just can't see using this build without Taunt, and slotting Brawl over Boxing just seems silly to me, though I might be wrong; the 4-slotted brawl still does less damage than unslotted Boxing...is it worth it that Brawl is free (endurance-wise)?
Also, I just now noticed that ALL of those enhancements are +5...that's WAAAAAAAAAY out of my price range. Oh well...perma Hasten, DP and perma double Rage sounded good, anyway. -
Quote:Both of these. I wish the Top Cow version had gone on, because that was one of the best arcs in any comic I've ever written, *and* it's a great testament to the will of the players that we got the memorial statue put up in the first place.
Play through the entire New Overbrook aka Faultline story. Ask yourself how old you think Penelope is supposed to be.
Read all of the City of Heroes comic books. There are two separate runs. If you don't want to read them all, then do take the time to read the Smoke and Mirrors story, then go to Ouroboros and play the in-game story arc. Visit the Cyrus O. Thompson memorial statue in King's Row and pay your respects.
As far as adding to the list, here's what I do on mine:
1. LOVE YOUR CONCEPT! This is unimaginably important. Don't make what's best, make what is fun.
2. Do a DFB, just because fighting AVs right out of the box is awesome, and you make new friends that will serve you from 1-50 and beyond.
3. Don't forget the cape and aura missions! I'm liking redoing my costume every 10 levels, keeps the look fresh, and can signify the increase in power.
4. Try Stupid (Insert AT) Tricks. Tank GMs, jump into huge mobs you have no business fighting. Throw rocks at Lusca. Kite pylons at level 45, just because it's funny. Scrapperlock is not necessarily limited to just scrappers.
5. Join global channels for your server! -
Alrighty, here's what I came up with last night, using your tisandtricks, pluskeeping myown flavor (she *is* a Supergirl/Powergirl/Ms. Marvel tribute, after all, have to keep Hurl and LBE).
Also, how do people manage to use Rage *and* Hasten when only one power can be auto-cast? It boggles the mind.

Count me in as a member of the camp that believe States was killed because Jack Emmert was, in all fairness, kind of a ******. It's unfortunate, yes, but also slightly humorous and the current dev team will NEVER admit to it (if it's true), but wiping the slate clean of his image is the first step in correcting the other, more entrenched errors he made in the game's design and implementation.
-
Also, I see Paragon Wiki as a wiki for the game, not the story, per se. If I want to see how many missions are in a story arc, that's my source, but it doesn't tell me bupkis about the contact's motivations or relationship to other characters.
-
I get the *idea* behind that, not limiting future endeavors by having a quotable meta-source, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...
This is, at its heart, a comic book game. Comic books change crap all the time (with varying results) and at least you can read up pretty thoroughly on where things were, who was who, and what happened up until the recent past. That's all I'm looking for. For example, a three-line bio of Sister Psyche just doesn't cut the mustard. -
This is something I've been hoping for, seeing as how the official wiki is a little...lacking i terms of canonical story.
Trying to keep track of the "timelines" (1-50, trials, Praetorian, Incarnate, etc.) is a serious PITA, and the wiki story entries have about as much substance as Penny Yin's pants.
Is there some repository somewhere of canon, in the vein of the Marvel/DC entries on Wikipedia? Some kind of sense of the storyline, where we're headed?
Also, hey GG! I need to commission some work from you to replace my long-lost AG avatar. -
Also, yes, I changed my avatar to Penny. Deal with it. Razorstrike used to have an AWESOME art piece of AG, but I have no way to find it.

Hey all: So, I have a lvl 41 Inv/SS tank that I love dearly, but she's been semi-retired for a few years and is running with SOs only. She's nigh-unkillable, but can't swat a fly with the amount of speed I'd like, so I thought I'd switch up and make a Brute instead. The Brute is currently level 19, and I thought I'd throw together a quick build to be eviscerated by folks more knowledgeable than I.
I realize the RES/DEF numbers will be lower on a Brute, but is this too low? I went for recovery, psi resist, and some extra recharge as I lack Hasten. Did I miss anything? Obviously, this isn't a purpled-out build as I'm not huge on funding.

More than likely, but I blame the forums eating my avatar and making you click that TINY FRIGGIN' button to post a quick reply. What happened to the good old days when you could just click in the text box and tappity-tap away?
-
While I'm excited to see everyone trying to get this badge, maybe I *am* confused about the whole "bug" thing.
16 objects get the level shift at the moment, which means everything else (which, with 16 people plus all the Lore pets, not to mention any controller/dominator pets, could be more than half the attacking force) isn't doing as much damage/debuff to Tyrant as they could. If they *were* fighting at full strength, wouldn't it increase DPS and make acquiring the badge easier? Or does the shift only come when you interact with the Lights of the Well, which (as I understand) isn't part of the RHW badge?
Also (and this is my own ignorance, I'll admit), does a level shift affect max HP?
I wish I could help out with the trial runs, but I have a recurring Thursday evening obligation and I wouldn't be home until around 8:30 central time.
As far as my thoughts, if he's immune to everything except -tohit and -res, would a higher number of, say, /Dark corruptors (Darkest Night, Howling and Tar Patch) make a significant difference? Or would /Dark controllers perhaps be better? -
As far as APP/PPP, my Dark/Dark is going for Soul Mastery for a) concept, b) damage, and c) DARK CONSUMPTION! Fixes any end issues right there, especially if you're clumping enemies as well as you say you are.
-
So...yeah. What happened to people on the forums, eh?
-
Quote:I'm certainly not going anywhere. I plan on re-running for Mayor next year. :PFacilitating is one thing, encouraging is quite another. Discounted transfers are fine, but the new Exalted-only dev-hosted events, several of which are Incarnate-level and thus would require a transferred character on I21's launch, makes it worse. Clearly the devs will be paying less attention to the other servers going forward. Leave those servers to the freebies and the plebes, the elites on Exalted are the only ones that matter.
I certainly think it's telling that J_D, one of Pinnacle's mainstays, is leaving. This is the sort of thing I was worried about as soon as I heard about I21/Freedom (god, why couldn't they just pick a name that didn't match a server name? idiots). -
Okay...so a little background; I've teamed with HUNDREDS of awesome 'fenders over the years, and I've always been a little jealous about their force-multiplication and baddie-neutering abilities.
However, the only two 'fenders I've ever actually tried were an Emp/Dark (deleted) and FF/Sonic (currently languishing at 26, haven't played for 700+ days).
With the change to Vigilance since the last time I played a Defender making them (apparently) much more solo friendly, I want to try again. I like to solo and go at my own pace until at least SOs if I can, because of my weird schedule, so something that can decently handle itself until 22-25 would be good.
I also don't want to go unnoticed on teams, up to and including iTrials when the time comes.
A few ideas I was kicking around:
Cold/Ice
Dark/Ice (my 50 Corruptor is Fire/Dark, and I <3 Fluffy)
Cold/Dark
Kin/Sonic
Any other ideas or guidance?
TL;DR: Me want new Defender. Solo early. Team Late. Be awesome.
