Not for changing the badges that are already awarded. For changing instances where States and Psych are portrayed as alive during the gameplay...
Make a new badge for those that touch that arc again. Give them that new badge. Problem solved. They now have both.

We already know it's possible for them to create duplicates. Take a look at what happens to some badges/accolades when you switch sides.

Letting it be known what my objection is more clearly. I just don't think they should be changing a badge for a mission already completed unless there is a significant reason for it.

By the way, still wondering if the original arc is in Oroborous. Anyone know?

EDIT: You mentioned consistency being the possible reason for this. Except that it isn't consistent. The events of that arc ALREADY happened for those characters with that badge. it's even LESS consistent if they keep the original arc in oroborous. The tech issues I don't buy either. Simply keep the old badge (not tech touched) and give a new ONE to those who attempt the new arc. I see no issue with having two badges, one called "Statesman's Pal" and "Positron's Pal".

ASSUMING that the characters who did the original arc that gave Statesman's Pal will now go and do the arc that give's Positron's Pal. That's a freaking huge assumption.

If a character never goes to do the one that gives the Posi badge, I don't see the issue. Simply let them keep Statesman's Pal badge. Except that's NOT what they are doing here.

That maybe incorrect according to lore, but I sorta put the SSA as occurring before the iTrials but after that arc, maybe only because it's been in the game for so long it seems that way. I bow to your superior lore knowledge, but that's why I have a problem with changing it.
I don't even think it's a "now" or "then" issue.

It's the issue that I've ALREADY rescued Statesman once.

It doesn't freaking matter if it was now, then, yesterday or during the era when the earth was forming. My character's did it. The badge represents that. Whether he died later or not is irrelevant.

It makes no sense when character's all have that memory and experience.

Going forward it makes more sense on characters who never ran the original arc, and thus never MEET statesman. You can't tell me that they don't have the ability to award more than one badge that's similar.

(note: this is not a rail against you personally, it's just a rail against the whole silly idea. :P)

Question: Am I dreaming or did I read that they are keeping the original arc in Oroborus? Cause then the badge change makes even LESS sense.

That just says that retcons are ridiculous story telling devices that should be done less than they are.

Switching the badge I ALREADY got doesn't make sense. I didn't save positron, I saved Statesman. Hell for those specific characters they've never even met positron (cause i never did the garbage that was the old Positron tf on them for obvious reasons that lead to the positron tf being revamped).

For characters going forward who are just going to do that arc fine.

Again, not seeing the logic here.

Except that I already did the mission that gave me the Statesman's Pal badge. I didn't do the one that gave me Positron's.

    This isn't moving forward, it's a retcon.

Yes but what you just said is completely different from what's pictured.

What's pictured ISN'T relaxing at all, or realistic, or helpful to the human spine.

Back to the topic at hand, SF is fine for damage and is fun to play.

Regardless, it effects all Slow Animation attacks equally. Titan Weapons is filled with them so I guess it artificially hurts them more. 'Thankfully' ToHit debuffs are surprisingly rare. Maybe because dev-side knows NOT hitting is a lot less fun than hitting and doing poor damage.
Fire Control was is not good because of the pets. Fire Control is good BECAUSE of anything but the imps. The pet recharge adjustments did jack diddly to how great fire control is.

The reason why Fire Control isn't used as much for farming is because Fire Brutes got better due to the changes to SS/Fire. Particularly the Fire side.

I won't deny Titan Weapons having some ludicrously massive (And warranted) Endurance Costs, but endurance management has been part of the game since the earliest of beta tests, and people know how to adjust that with any build. At the Top Levels of Performance, endurance becomes a very easily managed 'issue'.

    Also Ageless.

ToHit debuffs, while painful, affect EVERY set equally. If you're to-hit debuffed to levels where your ability to hit is significantly unreliable, then again, you're just playing two-handed Broadsword while everyone else is also missing as often as you are and are suffering by an equal amount of "No longer doing damage".

That's a baseless argument no Titan Weapons player has taken seriously since it was discovered how 'average' Titan Weapons was WITH OUT Momentum.
Except that the game doesn't start at 50, nor does everyone who gets TW have access to IOs or Incarnate abilities. And again TW is just ONE set. Even if it were as good as you make it out to be (which it isn't) that DOES NOT assume that staff weapons will be better or worse than it.

Nowhere have the devs said to expect that pay sets will be better than everything else.

If they have please quote it.

Yeah folks will say anything stupid enough if they want unnecessary buffs.

I think the term in response to the thread is "learn to *&^*(&g play"

I also lament the time and effort that has gone into 'fixing' Statesman's presence in the game that could have been directed to sprucing up old missions that actually need the work.
    Pretty much this.

seriously, they spent time on this???

I'd really like to know what the logic is behind this?

And honestly, if I'm beating someone over and over again, they're also getting tells from me - for instance, some time back (given how (in)active the zones are) I had a blaster of some flavor - AR, I believe - attack my Thug/Poison MM in... IIRC, it was a lowbie, so probably Bloody Bay. Now, to be fair, just from having more powers (and thanks to SSKing, all tiers of pets - that really needs disabling in PVP zones, IMHO) it was a mismatch. He was, at best, on DOs or low level IOs.

IIRC, I checked the badges and saw it was a fairly new player, so I told him he'd just keep having trouble, explained how masterminds and bodyguard worked, asked if he had any AOEs (he didn't) and how that would work to his advantage - plus how to set up a second build. Yeah, he died several times, but he did learn and I'm fairly sure if he stuck around the game he'd probably stick his nose back in the zones. (I alt so much on every server that I have no idea if he has or not. Don't even recall his name.)

Even if I'm on the losing side and the other side isn't talking to me, I'm learning something about their capabilities and my own. Even if I lose 5x in a row.

You meantion you'll fight "less hard" - ok, to a point, I can see it, but to me that's really doing *everyone* a disservice. If I'm having a hard time mountain climbing, I need to work on my climbing and technique, build strength and endurance, lose weight - I don't need the mountain bulldozed down.

See... that's one of the things we'll disagree on. I'd *love* to see more places in PVE that we can fail - or where even the best outcome is a draw. The Terra Conspiracy, for instance. Or not being able to save your clone in Jenny Adair's arc. Or, the one we had a lot of arguing over, the WWD SSAs.

It has to be a legitimate fail, though. Not "Stop So-and-so from escaping!" when they're five feet from the door, so you enter the mission and auto-fail or they escape as you step off the elevator. Sometimes just a fail, more fun, though, if you have a way of winning but it's not just a gimme (like most missions are.) (I happen to like the "Stop 30 Fir Bolg from escaping" mission, for instance, and try to see how close to zero escapes I can get - I've hit zero quite a few times.)
I think the issue is many play the game for pure relaxation. They don't play it to compete or feel any stress. COH has always been called basically a lazy beat em up by many folks I've talked to who have played it.

It's the one thing I keep seeing when these discussions keep coming up. Some people play video games to relax after a hard day at work, school, etc. As an escape. No amount of "turn this off so the chat doesn't bother you" or "you can get better if you practice" is EVER going to convince to give an activity they don't find fun (stress and competing in a game that's supposed to be their escape) is going to convince them to pvp.

Now folks who like that, that's fine for them. And I'll fight tooth an nail to get their feature the attention it deserves. (Same as AE and bases).

I just think it's a bit futile to try to convince folks who don't find pvp fun that it's fun. Also if a person doesn't have to turn off bcast or zone while pveing, then telling them "before you even step foot into this activity" you should turn off zone or b-cast is REALLY NOT going to convince them to want to do that activity. The easy answer is . . . simply NOT to do that activity.

EDIT: To be clear, I think it's also one of the reasons that folks fight tooth and nail when any kind of challenge is introduced into the base game. I'd bet there is significant number of people who play this game who don't post on the forums, don't min max, couldn't care less about IOs, purples, etc and are content to just play the game at -1 or +0 up till 50. Which probably takes them 2-3 years to reach.

As Zwill just said this would NOT be a single issue. You're talking about MONTHS of no new content, while COH's competitors ramp up their content.

    NOT A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION.

heh, this is soooooo the way to disprove their point, amiright?

I don't pvp ANYMORE because I got tired of bashing my head against a wall while drinking russion vodka while being stabbed repeatedly like Julius Ceaser.

Yes the pvp in this game (bcast in the zones, what I see on the Arena channel nightly, plus the "special" mechanics from I13, and the utter idiocy of the pvp io drop rate) is THAT bad.

Now if they try to put up a day before I'd laugh at them.
