The nerf isn't going to be reduced.
The AOE capability should be BUFFED.
Also the -damage was laughable, is laughable, and always will be laughable.
This was before SOs also. -
Quote:Yeah, and all those folks who have come back and posted that they used tips they read here to make a bil+ inf on boths sides repeatedly (/em raises hand) are just figments of imagination.Totally. All the free advice and inf. I have given out was actually anti-money and and anti-advice.
We all know all the folks in this part of the forums are INSANELY EBIL BASTICHES twirling their mustaches.
Was that too much on the sarcasm meter?
EDIT: Oh, and op is a newb. -
Quote:I'd be down with this also.Tokyo said
I'm not afraid to sign my work.
... or are you referring to people who put in embarassingly low bids for things I value more highly?
It'd be fun to see how long it takes on average for an item to sell also.
Just so that we can all LAUGH OUT LOUD at the BM even more. -

Quote:When they give a majority of the team the ability to skip cutscenes then I can actually agree with your suggestion./agreed
To people who engage in this practice:
I honestly can't remember a cutscene task force recently where someone wasn't spamming the channels. It's like a hundred brat kids are telling you the same stupid knock-knock joke over and over and over. It's not cute. It's not funny. It's not clever. It's not original. Trust me, you are not the one gem of a cutscene spam comic in the midst of all of the spam dregs. And yes, I've seen entire spam conversations. And yes, I've seen people in cutscenes doing elaborately planned out "skits," complete with emotes and everything. If that's not impressive to me, trust me, you sure as hell aren't.
Personally, I'd love it if they completely silenced all team, broadcast, and local chat for however long the cutscenes last, it irritates me that much. I know they won't do it, because it falls into the realm of not really causing any harm, but it annoys me enough that I'd still like it nonetheless.
Cutscene spam was clever exactly one time.
/my humble opinion, I realize I'm probably in a minority. -
Quote:Yes, we get why folks WANT them.Set bonuses only work if your combat level (as opposed to security level) is no more than 3 levels below the level of the IO. Consequently people who want to keep their set bonuses when they exemplar down for TFs and such will routinely slot lower level IOs so that they do (level 30-33 are popular since they are slightly more powerful than SOs and work for two-thirds of the sub-50 TFs int he game.
I think his point was if the items in question don't move for days (sometimes weeks on the BM) and tie up one of his limited marketing slots, what is the incentive for him to list them.
Also goes to the heart of my original objection to one of the suggestions earlier. If it's tieing up my markets slots for days because no one is buying it what is the rational reason for charging me a HIGHER market fee, for something that's out of my control? Isn't this a further disincentive for me to list such items? -
Quote:Length of account time is stupendously irrelevant to this discussion. The patch should absolutely NOT be rolled back until they find a permanent solution.
I would think anyone who claims to care about the longevity of this game would understand why the devs had to put an end to people like me who made farms that turned AE into a shooting gallery.
I would hope for the long term benefit of the MA system people would be understanding of the temporary solution even if it hampers their ability to create original content.
I don't think it would be in anyone's best interest to roll AE back to a shooting gallery so some folks can fully express themselves by creating a mission with multiple hostage allies that would most likely not get played by more than 500 people.
Limiting your creativity in the short term to benefit MA in the long term seems like a very easy call to me.
But what do I know, I'm n00b.
I've only had an account for 21 months now.
I'll leave it to AE authors who are well known to explain why this patch is is not a good idea.
Oh, and this didn't really limit the farming. -
Quote:/e golfclapActually, what I had hoped to be able to do was to create game content for an MMORPG.
These will always have a variety of reward structures, but even so, the goal in every such game is to progress characters forward in terms of levels and gear. If you aren't doing that you may as well be cybering in the arena.
Unintended irony is the best kind.
Look, I have a high regard for the developers generally. This game will always be the one I come back to. I eventually came back even after the even grosser disappointments of i5 and i6.
I want AE to be a smashing success. As I've said before, AE has done wonders to sustain my interest in the game. I enjoy the creative outlet, I enjoy having missions available that actually contain new elements ... and I enjoy the XP, and the tickets that allow me to sidestep WW/BM for salvage and recipes, because that's a mini-game I don't enjoy nearly as much.
I probably am done with writing for AE, though; my next arc will be my last for the foreseeable future, and I probably will take down the ones that are made wastes of time by the patch if this drags on like the other one has. Yes, this makes me sad and angry. I'm no longer willing to put in the time to create arcs only to see them so casually stepped on.
If we want AE to remain viable as an alternative way to play the game, the writing community needs to unite in defense of our mutual interests. Telling people that it's nothing to get upset about is not helping what ought to be our common cause.
This was well said and gets to the heart of the matter. -
Quote:Six folks using the AE building to me is not a smashing success.AE is not dead. AE fariming may be dead, and i fervently hope so.
I haven't noticed any huge difference tbh since before the nerf apart from a delicious absence of farmers spamming their undesirable wares in Atlas AE.
Eco.
But what do I know. -

Quote:And I'll keep deleting stuff like lvl 25 IOs that I consider to be junk. That rite thar dun made my pointy like thing.
This is why dem dar markets dun not bees wut da Devies wants.
Maybe that will get through....
Perhapse if we did what was meant to be done rather then what ever we felt like this would work...nah!...insanity!
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Words to live by.
If that bothers you go cry in the corner about it.
/shrug. -
Quote:I don't give a damn if you can't get the lvl 25 to 35 IOs you want (notice I didn't say need). I'm not here to play the game for you.By all of your replies, you are going to rail against anything that helps the "lower class."
Seems many are going to do this.
Seems many think that what I found Ideal to be completely a waste of time. Slot lvl 25 to 35 frakenslotting...forever...never going higher, because its cheap. The supply just isnt there, red side of course. The proposed fix would fix it, quickly.
But junk to you will get deleted...yeah thats thinking past your own nose... -
Quote:This response is strange. So there is no benefit to practicing and using your powers, exercising etc. Hum guess someone should tell the X-Men this they could prob save a ton of money on electricy not turning on their danger room anymore.
When the X-Men practice in their danger room they don't get any money, or accolades from the public or their heroic deeds.
They do get experience in how to deal with different situations.
I think your analogy needs a bit of refining, as it makes it sound like you're saying the only thing folks should get from AE is xp. Also I don't see AE as a danger room, based on the lore. It's more an amusement park for superheroes. -

This thread delivered.
I still say the patch should be rolled back until they have a more elegant solution. -
Quote:We'll assume you know what you're talking about when you provide proof. Till then we'll assume you're full of . . .Eva, it's not about blame, it's about fact. It's not about being ebil, it's about being making money. While this practice may not be good for the game as a whole, this is not about the game, it's about business. Gold farmer sites send out tons of emails to Elicit people to buy
from them. Inflating the market is just one way of enticing people to but from them.
If you choose to be naive about it that is fine. If you really want to get people to drink in your drinking game, how about adding this to your game: Everytime you talk about something you know nothing about, people take a drink. that way you will assure that people playing your game will indeed get drunk.

Well you get the idea. -
Quote:ROTFL.I confess I am always disappointed when those ladies consort with that type. I aways hold them in higher regard than that.
After watching the idiocy spewed by a certain national committee chairmen over the weekend I'd have to agree.
I'd also agree that I too fear whatever it is the devs are coming up with for the market. They just never seemed to "get" that part of the game. Same with pvp. -
Quote:I agree. No one owns a thread on these boards.Um, I don't see it Memphis_Bill, at least in terms of me branching anyway. I agreed with the OP that more purple recipes is a good idea. I discussed a possible bad point of market changes, but conceded I did not have enough data to know what the real impact may be... Then thought it would be a bad point for all exactly the same bonuses. I was trying to have a direct and cogent contribution to the discussion of adding more purples. A conversation that I support taking place and hope to see progress on implementing in game some day.
Yet, I was chastised when I wasn't the only one with my opinions. Looking back I see a note on how anyone can use hecatomb in brawl, now a conversation on whether sleep purple set is useful... I was certainly more on topic. I am just confused I guess.
Discussions often go on tangents.
And wanting DIFFERENT purple recipe bonuses IS relevant to the discussion at hand, since not everyone of the EXISTING purple recipes offers you the same exact bonuses. -
Quote:Sure, it will stop when the idiot BUYERS stop buying at that price.I don't like the marketeers either. They make everything WAY overpriced. It's hard enough to make 2 bil influence so the last thing I wanna do is spend months making influence for 1 or 2 recipes. Thats crazy. I think there needs to be an extreme limit per item in WW that you can sell things for. Now I'm not talking where you can sell a purple for 10-20 mil or even 50 mil, but to price something at 400-900 mil or over a bil for 1 recipe...that needs to stop.

I agree with Venture in this instance.

Quote:Said it better than I ever could have. What you want in a closed beta tester is someone capable of finding ways to break or exploit the game, is willing to report such findings to the devs, and has the restraint to avoid using that knowledge for personal gain.
EDIT: Bolded the part that's relevant to why we are in this mess to begin with. -
Quote:You don't need those types of people to find those type of exploits when you have folks like Arcanaville and others who were in closed beta and who found the exact same things during issue 14 Closed beta.Isn't the point of CLOSED BETA to test how breakable things are? Isn't someone that finds those kinds of things EXACTLY the people you'd want in Closed Beta instead of some carebear?
And what an idiotic pvper insult has to do with this discussion I don't know.
The idea that the folks in Closed Beta for AE didn't do there job is stupendously insulting. -
-
Quote:THAT would be hilarious. My guess, someone in closed beta uploaded one of their arcs to the test server for PL purposes, and the the devs said enough is enough.
EDIT: Why? Cause I would think the fact that you have a published Arc on the LIVE servers using a known abusive exploit or bug would, oh, I don't know, disqualify you from being in CLOSED BETA.
Hopefully what you're guessing isn't the case. -
Quote:Well that's great to hear!Actually, my arc A Hero in Need... (full details in sig) is 5-14 and listed on page 3 with 65 plays and five stars. Also, last I checked Gypsy Roses arc named Suppression is also listed there and is for levels 5-15. Page three is the first page that has any normal player arcs on it.
WN
Though player arcs really should be on PAGE 1.
Dev's Choice needs to be moved to it's own tab.
