Such tension on the boards these days!
I don't know if anyone remembers the occasions when Union or Defiant have been down and people pile onto Vigilance, but there have been some really awful things bandied about (this is, obviously, the minority of people). I think it's safer to keep the little factions separate. If you can't play nicely, then we'll take the toys away. Sorry, but just because of the lack of decent behaviour among just a few players, I would be against this. -
I'm sure someone will correct me on this, but would not having 'adults only' and 'public' boards dilute the amount of stuff going on in the main board? And I enjoy reading the stuff here (sad chap that I am). Just a thought.
-
I did ACTUALLY mean duel pistols with an e, hence most of the power descriptions mentioning duelling, seconds, afternoon tea etcetera. The duel/dual difference was meant to be vaguely humorous but I appear to have stumbled rather.
I am sorry that I did not manage to embody more of the spirit of aristocracy in this powerset and hereby disown it, begging the forgiveness of the forum as a whole...
P.S. - someone said that it is not duel pistols if you do not take ten steps etcetera. Please read the description for 'Assassin's Cheat'. Thanks. -
And will recycle the recyclings until we are left with a disgusting grey mess of boring animations and poor ideas.
-
Ah, so I suppose some of you came here to say "it's been suggested before". Nope.
Likewise, to those who say "it's DUAL pistols", nope.
Having seen the 6754th post on duel pistols plx 4 scrappars I decided to really craft a set for pistols used in duels, and its secondary pool counterpart. These sets are for stalkers, as duels are typically very short, close range affairs.
PRIMARY POWER POOL: DUEL PISTOLS
Power 1 Throw down the gauntlet - You are disgusted with your opponent's behaviour and give them a slap round the
chops. Damage minor, recharge fast, low chance for stun.
Power 2 Pistol whip - You attempt to settle the affair before it has even begun by giving your opponent a vicious
blow with the mahogany handle of your duelling pistol. Damage moderate, recharge moderate
Power 3 Delope - You do not wish to kill your opponent, just humiliate them, so you discharge your pistol pointing
away from them to make a show of your standing as a gentleman. Unfortunately, you hit their friend. Damage high,
recharge high, debuff defense (the animation for this would be similar to a 'miss' with other powers, where you point
at the ceiling or similar).
Power 4 Assassin's Trick - You and your opponent are called to take ten steps, but you turn and fire after two and a half - society is outraged by your behaviour. Works like other assassin strikes, so damage special, recharge slow.
Power 5 Build Up - Your second in the duel gives you a pep-talk to banish your fear and focus your mind. The same as
other build ups.
Power 6 Placate - You don't take ten steps before turning and firing, you just run for the hills. The same as other
placates.
Power 7 Shoot him instead! - Nerves have got the better of you, so you direct your opponent's ire at your faithful
second in the duel. Whilst they're distracted, you give them a boot in the shin. Damage minor, recharge fast, each
hit raises your defense to melee and lethal.
Power 9 Double shot - You've broken the etiquette of the duel by loading your pistol with 2 balls, but how else are
you going to win? Your shot mangles your opponent, but you need a long time to reload both balls. Damage extreme,
recharge long, stun.
SECONDARY POWER POOL: BUFFOONERY
Power 1 Hide - You are a bounder and a cad, and therefore despise fair play. During a duel, you will attempt to hide
in nearby shrubberies and suchlike. (Identical to other stalkers' hide)
Power 2 Stiff Upper Lip - Through years of practise, your upper lip is stiffer than most, capable of reflecting passing pistol balls and bending fencing swords. You are slightly resistant to all types of damage except psychic.
This power is always on.
Power 3 Palpitating Fear - You don't want to die, and can't stop shaking. However, this shaking makes you very hard
to hit. Increases Defense to ranged attacks. Toggle.
Power 4 Weasel Words - Why all the fighting? With a few words and a fake smile, you can persuade people to stop
hitting you quite so much. Increases Defense to melee attacks. Toggle.
Power 5 Coward - Faced with death, no-one can prevent you from legging it. You have increased resistance to knockback, hold, immobilize, sleep, stun and fear - after all, you can't become any more scared than you already are. Toggle.
Power 6 Afternoon Tea - You take a second to nibble on a scone, and quickly feel better. Heal, recharge long.
Power 7 Pig dung - It is said that in one duel, a gentleman chose forkfuls of pig dung to show his disdain for the
practice. You put this swine faeces to good effect by lobbing it high into the sky, meaning that people are more
concerned of precipitating porker poop than watching to see you don't escape. AoE placate, recharge very long.
Power 8 Take a dive - You're not really dead, just too scared to get up. Activate this power to find the resolve to take a peek around and cautiously haul yourself up. Self rez, recharge long.
Power 9 Tally ho! - There's no way you can survive this, so you're just going to grit your teeth and wade on in, ducking and diving for all you're worth. You gain hugely increased defense, but suffer an endurance crash - all that
fear is tiring. Recharge very long.
I would also like a pipe to go with these power sets.
Any serious comments will be taken as seriously as I take my suggestion.
[Edit] Sorry for the formatting, the forum hates me. -
Sorry to rain on your parade as it were, but thugs and mercenaries are (to my mind at least) very similar to the concept of agents.
What we really need is a power set based on golden monkies. -
Ant Man's a hero, and he can control insects.
I don't see a real reason this couldn't be for heroes too. -

a fully functioning powerset with animations and multiple weapon options.

Mace has these things. Why don't you try it.
It has also been buffed fairly reciently with animation time reductions and AOE increases.
It is a much stronger set than you think.

My point exactly - it IS a fully functioning powerset with choices, that's what I'm saying. However, I did not know it had been buffed, despite trying it.
Thanks Chatarsis for the feedback, your comments have given me hope. And no, you're not a funny noob, rather a prophet who has shown me the light.

Hello there. My name is Aubergine Man, and I'm here to make a case for a special friend of mine.
People nowadays are constantly asking for new power sets (or rather, a certain few people repeatedly), but I have an alternate proposition. Why don't we pull War Mace out of solitary confinement and rehabilitate it with the rest of society?
Many have a power set they dislike, but although I'm sure some of you will spring to its defense, I have never heard anyone say anything positive about war mace - a fully functioning powerset with animations and multiple weapon options. Surely it would save the devs a lot of work making a new tank set if they just upped the stats on mace a bit (and maybe renamed a few of the powers. Come on Devs, bash? That's a bit poor)?
To cut to the chase, what I propose is this - that mace be tweaked to make it a more viable option for the serious tanker, rather than just a comedy or 'nooby' option. As I have said earlier, I am sure many people will disagree, arguing that War Mace is a finely groomed stallion of a powerset, but when I see it sitting at the bottom of the tanker secondary sets screen, I only see a worn out mule, a viewpoint shared by many of my friends. It's not too late to save it from the knacker's yard!
*Prepares for the flames* -
Vegetable melee. I'm thinking stabbing enemies with carrots, spitting tomato seeds, clobbering them with a well-placed marrow to the face, that sort of thing.
-
I believe that it's being worked on, although I'm sure someone will be quick to either correct or confirm this.
In the meantime, give Hero Stats a try - it's very useful to have a working buff timer for god mode powers. -
I like Smooth, but then again by general consensus I'm a bit weird.

Very well done to you Smooth, hope you had fun on the way to 50.
-
Congratulations indeed Lal, but a shame you're leaving all us Defianteers
Might pop over onto Union to give you a visit soon!
-
Keep both.
Arctic Air is very nice PvP and also occasionally confuses the mobs around you, as well as slowing them so it decreases the time it takes for them to get into melee range. Choking Cloud is also great - if you lob down frostbite, choking cloud then finds it easier to hold the enemies, and it lasts for a long time. -
Hmm - I don't think this is right. You can only slot powers in a respec after you reach the level you bought the power at. As the nova/dwarf attacks are tied in with the shapeshifts, you would not be able to slot them until you had got that power.

My peacebringer was called Aubergenie - my previous character had been Aubergine Man, and Aubergenie is that and the word 'genie' smooshed together, whilst still sounding like 'aubergine'. So, to cut a long ramble short - take your original character's name, and try to construct a really poor play on words on it
-
Hmm - I wrote a script for a short episode that I was goint to film with my friends using Fraps, although it never got off the ground - maybe I should look at it again...
-
Congratulations Londoner - the times I've teamed with you have been brilliant!

My stalker is in the low forties and has been for quite some time, as I can never find a team and I find soloing very boring. Would anyone be able to team with me at the weekends/some weekdays after five? You can contact me in-game at @Aub. Thanks.
