Remember guys, the need for speed is what I'm going for here. If You can get me a little more defense or resistance without sacrificing any speed then I'm all for it. The reason I went with Kinetic Combat is the 5% run speed bonus. The IO's in granite give me 10% more run speed and a 7.5% recharge bonus. This is all geared around making the fastest tank I can. I forgot to mention that I do have the 60 month veteran's badge, so I am OK with teleport as is.
-
Please explain why this can't happen in game? I don't think I would actually use the power that much, just using it to hold the IO's.
-
This is a build I'm working on. Toon is now at level 35. This is actually my 1st stoner I have taken to granite. The speed penalties have always made me pick other power sets, but this time I'm committed to see it through. The build I below focuses on speed and recharge bonuses. Right now I'm at a 101.5% speed bonus and 42.5% recharge. My question is, if I keep the speed and recharge up, am I opening up any other huge holes? I chose fire for the AoE's.
Suggestions?

I'm a theme player so I took Devices and made a soldier. Just wondering what everybody took to compliment Dual Pistols and why.

Thanks for all the input guys. Before we ran last night I made sure that all my SO's were up to date. Our wayward brute also showed up last night for an added bonus. I only faceplanted twice, and those were my fault. Seeds seem to be hitting more and holding longer than before. Maybe it's just me or maybe hitting level 25 made a boatload of difference. I seem to have changed from an OMG! I died again toon to an OMG! I confused THAT many? toon.
Now lets talk about speeding up my toon's animations :P
Thanks again -
SS/INV (50) - Still trying to find the perfect IO build for him. Loved this brute until the Dev's made me change his name. Still my main brute.
Drk/Drk (50) - Very active build. You have to really watch whats going on. Loved this toon in a team, solo? not as much.
BA/Shld (50) - Probably dishes out the best damage of all my brutes. Pretty endurance heavy. I've not gone the IO route on this guy yet.
Next brute project will either be a SS/Fire or a Fire/Stone for farming -
Quote:Maybe I'm just being a little spoiled. My main toon is a maxxed out tank that rarely sees his life bar even move. I play the Dom on a Wednesday night static team, that come to think of it really doesn't have an aggro sponge on it. The team consists of a stalker, 2 controllers and me. So once my holds wear off, I apparently become the sponge. When I died like 10-12 times in a 3 hour peiod last Wednesday, I did a quick WTF. I definately need to check out my enhancements to make sure my holds last as long as possible too.I wouldn't call that a late blooming build - I'd wonder what yours looks like now.
I took my Plant/Thorn into Sharkshead at about your level - I was even or -1 to Scrapyard's mobs. I soloed his mobs - got all the scrapyarder badges in one sitting. Ended up with something like 300-400 kills to 2-3 deaths (leveled in the process, too.) Now, yes, I had a couple small purples and greens, but for the most part - it was seeds, root, AOE, AOE. Didn't even have Creepers at the time, and I certainly wasn't IO'd out.
Post how you are now.
We'll see how this week goes. Maybe we can get a wandering Brute to join us.
Thanks for the help guys. -
I have a Plant/Thorn dom thats hanging around level 24 right now. My question is, Will this toon ever get to a point where I don't feel like the squishiest thing out there? I've played around on Mid's trying to find a build that would offer either defense or resistance and I can't find a thing. I have looked at getting all the recharge bonuses I can so I get close to a perma-dom toon but I better hope nothing hits me before my lockdowns take effect.
I have heard that Plant/Thorns is a late blooming build. So when does it start to bloom? I don't think I've even seen a bud yet. -
Not a big PvP'er, so we're looking at PvE.
-
Taking a new look at Dominators and decided to go Plant/Thorn. I see lots of build here but none with IO's. Anybody got one? Medium amount of influence, not looking to fill every slot with purples. Can you help me out?
-
I am trying to find any guides for a BA/Shld brute. I am looking for recovery and defense and was wondering what IO sets everyone might suggest. I'm at level 48 now and don't have a huge amount of inf to spend, but this is a work in progress so I don't have to get everything right away. Any ideas?

You need to put at least 2 Endurance Reducers in each of your atatcks until you start getting into IO sets. 1 Endurance reducer in each of your toggles will do fine. Slot your attacks for accuracy and 2 Endurance Reduction 1st. Let Fury take care of damage for a while. Slot for damage as you can later. Make sure you get Stamina at 20 and slot it ASAP.
I have a 50 SS/INV brute (my main villain) and I took Boxing, Tough, and Weave. Slot Tough with at least 1 Endurance Reducer and don't take Weave until you're close to 50. Try not to spam attacks too often and you should be fine. -
You're a villain! Since when do villains care about other villains? Thats like asking a Brute to waste his Fury Bar because you're low on endurance.
My 1st and only MM is a Bot/FF. I have no offensive weapons except my bots and the mace I took as a Patron Power. I bubble my team mates WHEN and IF I feel like it. I always run my Dispersion Bubble and I bubble my pets. If my teammates want my protection, they better stay inside my big bubble. Other than that all bets are off. I had a blast playing this toon, but it is a lot more laid back than a lot of players are looking for.
I have Force Bubble but rarely use it. Can't stand Detention Field. Worst power choice ever. If we are fighting a particularly tough Hero, I will bub teammates, but even then, it's at my discretion. Remember, you're a villain, quit playing the hero. -
Why reroll? Have both and make up your own mind.

Been looking for a few days now and can't seem to find any guides or builds dealing with this combination. I'm at 22 and having a blast with it. Anyone have any suggestions for it down the road?
-
If you like MA/Reg you'd love my MA/SR. Zero downtime. Fastest toon I ever made.
-
Just make sure you realize that DB/SR is going to be a very tight build.
