  1. Wanted to reiterate and thank everyone who came out the Raid last night. We had a slow start and I'm not sure how you monsters tricked me into leading it, but it was the most fun I've had in a while and while Leandro is gone you might see me step up to do it a few more times.

Special thanks to Danny Dagger (@Untamed) for leading the Yellow Targetting team and getting the Scrapper team formed, @tanknation for taking care of the Yellow Agro team despite limitations with his team, and @Rainy for fondling our emps buffs and making sure Hami didn't murder us all.

And we can't forget @PrankMonkey who was our stellar green targetter as well, and @Ty Zzyzx along with 1st Son. for getting our Misfit teams together.

Without you guys taking initiative and leading those Raid teams it couldn't have happened.

    Great job everyone!
  2. Lets not. I'm sick of the retarded Drama. If the Mods in those channels wanna be power tripping roosters then more power to them,it isn't like I haven't done my fair share to deserve it, but it's not like they've ever done anything but harass me anyways. It's their loss either way.

Not like I don't form a craptop of TFs. Instead anyone who likes to team and PvE with me either Red or Blueside please pop me a PM and I'll see about getting you into my channel instead.

    So... Stalkers.

Then again, I'm weird; I actually like that they're focused on single-target damage and spiking. I'd like to see them be better at what they're supposed to be used for so people will actually start using them in the intended manner instead of "lulz weak Scrapper!"
Honestly I feel the epitome of what a stalker should be like is executed well in the VEATs. The Bane/Nightwidow specializations are stealthy, deal impressive ST damage, have a nice opening burst via Slash/Shatter and contribute to team AoE with Spin-Dartburst/Crowd Control.

While I know they're somewhat specialized in their role and designed to be more team friendly, that's kinda what we want and need for stalkers. They just aren't team friendly, and there is really no reason to not take a Brute/Scrapper over them at any given time.

I'm not saying I don't agree with everything you said. I completely agree with you that Stalkers could use an increase to base HP as well as their HP cap--they are, after all, melee fighters; they should still be the squishiest, but they do run a tad too squishy on teams right now.

I'm also starting to think that maybe Stalkers should actually have a higher base damage than Scrappers. Currently, Stalkers do about 89% of the damage for an equivalent Scrapper attack (based off of Katana/Ninja Blade base numbers) except for the Tier 9, which does 85% as much base damage. All these powers have equal endurance costs. Since Stalkers are supposed to be the single-target damage masters, why not have them actually do slightly more base damage than a Scrapper (no more than 5-10%, max) on their single-target attacks and adjust the penalty equally and negatively on their AoE powers to compensate for the buff?

Furthermore, I'd propose a slight adjustment to the "Demoralized" power that sometimes accompanies Assassin's Strike: change it from a 25% chance at a Mag 5 Fear to a 75% chance of a Mag 1 Fear and a 25% chance of a Mag 4 Fear. This has the Stalker unleashing more soft control, at least enough to stop a swarm of minions, that will increase his or her benefit on a team.
Make it a Mag 2 fear, Mag 1 wont do anything to anyone.

Also part of the reason Stalkers dont contribute on teams is the severe lack of AoE on them.

Look at some of the most successful PvE sets for Stalkers: Elec and Spines. They both have access to powerful AoE that assists the team and helps them move faster. Single Target damage is not ever needed on a team, and hardly wanted after maybe level 12.

The fact that stalkers get gimped sets that remove the *only* AoE option because the Devs want to shoehorn them in as weaker ST scrappers just serves to cripple the entire AT as a whole.

Theres a reason that everything a Stalker can do, a Scrapper can do better.

  6. I was in Freedom TF but lost my channels via a tab deletion and the channel is now private? Did something happen?
  7. I never hide unless Im inciting open riots in global channels.

I PuG too much and make teams constantly, it also helps for people who want to avoid teaming with me.

More than once Ive been declined because some got the boot from my team and didnt like how my shoe landed.

I had a similar goal a while back.

Then I tried to play a defender.

At least my 4 level 50 Controllers can support a team

It is your problem. Youre following along with someone who's IOd and extremely capable of taking care of themselves. You are responsible for your own safety just as much as youre responsible for the teams safety.

If you jump on a team and expect them to baby sit you because you cant handle the pace the top tier players are setting on the team, then you either need to learn to hang back, or learn to play better. You dragging down everyone else is just as detrimental to a team and team building as overly aggressive people attempting to bite off more than they can chew.

    Mystery men

Radio/Paper missions look to just be filler til a Mayhem/Safeguard. The Defeat 'Insert Name' missions are kinda just that, youre just beating a dude up named Inferno, or Thanatos.

For the others, the glowies and the rescue missions, you tend to see jokes in them because at least the Devs got to be a lil more creative designing those missions. The Blue Oyster Cult or Inobtainium missions are kinda funny.

And you are a drain on your team. Good job building a brick wall that doesnt bring anything to a group
  13. Oh man, it looks awesome. Just what Ive wanted forever. No matter how bad it sucks Im IOing one.

No. Rads Provide Mitigation and Increased Killing Speed. They are Force Multipliers. They provide better mitigation than a Tanker ever will.

Most edge of the spectrum players understand that tanks are not necessary which is what I was referring to.

Good players dont need someone spamming taunt to keep them safe, good players manage their own agro without needing a tank to baby sit them with Taunt.

All good players need is someone dumb enough to run in first, whether they survive or not depends on if you need to pop veng

This is pretty fair. I feel the same about my Soldier as well before he became a Bane. Doesnt contribute much beyond Manuevers, and being those are at level 10 where as the Widow gets them at level 5, its kinda rough. They have no attack chain, they have no defined role besides mediocre damage with mediocre buffs, it feels like either they need to be a bit more powerful Pre-Respec to help with the fun or to just respec faster.

That's why I don't argue too much about Auras vs Taunt.

Also, like the poster above said, some pwning blasters are capable of overaggroing even the tanks with the best auras. 'Taunt' works a bit different, especially well slotted.

If a tanker is relying on just their auras to hold Agro, theyre a mediocre tanker at best, a terrible one at worst.

Tankers have some of the strongest burst sets available to them in the game, and not once have I ever had an issue holding agro against any AV against a Blaster, and especially not against an AoE centric blaster.

Of course maybe Im just magical or something, but on most well played teams, taunt is just a waste of 2 seconds you could use to kill that boss that much faster. Most people can handle themselves.

And well slotted? 3 Recharge, 3 Taunt, if you even really need it, though a single recharge does it.

Besides being a nice IO Mule, and the -Range component being pretty useful, the fact that its an agro control tool is kinda weak compared to what most sets get in the rest of their primary.

Taunt, the power does a better job of gaining and retaining aggro AND if cases, when a heavy dmg blaster is doing an excellent job of drawing aggro because he/she is pwning face, then I am glad to have "Taunt", press it, and draw that group of runaways back to me and away from squishies.

I don't even bother with the arguments that this or that aura or effect does a great job of aggroing. The way I see it, whatever you can do to gain and hold aggro, which does not involve using "Taunt", you can do better by having 'Taunt' and using it along with it.

Pulling from a distance with Taunt is also tactically more sound to do in some situations.

    My two cents.

    Have fun.
This is absolutely true for mediocre players. On a team of people only mildly experience and not really pushing the edge of what their characters are capable of doing, Taunt is indeed an excellent power.

I mean, I suppose it's nice for your ego and all, but I'd rather run it w/my SG and/or competent friends of which I have a decent supply on my home server.

Same for ITFs--I just breezed through one w/nothing more than scrappers and a few support, though it wasn't some crappy PuG, which is why, again, I don't run them. If I *had* to tank a bad team though, I'd just bring over my Stony or Invul. On a barely competent team (i.e. doesn't actively suck), DA does *more* than well enough.

Bottom line, other than MoSTF runs, end game content in CoH just isn't that tough (Disclaimer: I haven't been on a Hami run in forever so don't know what those are like any more). Not to mention, this game isn't just about end game content. I got my DA's def up through IOs starting in his 30s which made him well nigh unkillable for that level range. DA does more than fine for 98% of this game, esp when well IO'ed out, which was, I believe your first point of contention--that DA doesn't IO well.
The game isnt about end-game content, youre correct. However IOing typically (not always) is done for Endgame content though.

And I PuG STFs because I dont run with any SGs and Ive always PuGd in this game. I have my friends but we all go our seperate ways sometimes and I dont mind playing with people that arent in my special club
  22. Ill take a look when I get home. Expense really isnt an issue, Ive got about 3 bil socked away to work on this character :P The only thing is Im not going to be too reliant on BotZ for extra defense if thats what you did. I hate taking multiple travel powers.

If youre a Min-Maxer, there'd be no other real reason. If you enjoy playing the game for fun and the thrill of thematic sets? Well theres every reason.

From what Ive seen (this is by no means an absolute truth) the majority of players want the cool shiney and to level quickly on relatively easy sets. Thats why Regen, WP and Shields are so popular. Theyre all strong, and the latter gets a telenuke. Why wouldnt Dark be the red headed step child with those available? It doesnt have nearly as much going for it.

Have you done a typical PuG STF? The one where basic end-tactics is that the Tank Handles Recluse with an Emp and the rest of the team goes after the Towers?

Why are you questioning my game experience as if its blatantly obvious a Darkie can handle the STF SO'd out and without a Hitch? They cant. Theres a Reason Invuln or Stone is the preferred Tank with an STF.

Im sorry I dont rely on my team, I dont have Super teams setup, the other team members are typically unknown quantities and I will be more specific about powersets and playstyle with the STF because I have failed a few of them when I was more lax on what other people were doing.
