  1. Somehow people keep missing the fact I keep pointing out once again. So let me try and lay it out...

    I used TWO blasters as an example.. not one.. but people seem to be focusing on the one.. I used one that will have no improvement at all.. and one that will have great improvement.. in fact it would have IMO ridiculous improvement.. so I am not sitting here say waaaaaaaaaaaah my favorite blaster wont improve.. far from it.. my favorite blaster who is my name sake is built as a Ranged/Snipe specialist.. He will improve greatly with these changes... In fact when I am done changing his build slightly and getting those new IO that turn Knockback into Knockdown he will be quite a bit better than he is now.. and he is pretty darn good now..

    My point was to show that that AT itself isnt improving across the board..

    How do these issues solve the problem of Blasters spending more time mezzed than other AT's

    How do these change the fact that the Blaster will still level slower that many other AT's

    How do these change the fact that the one thing that the Blaster is supposed to bring to the team which is damage can be done as good or even better in some cases by other AT (who also get better HP or Mez protection and sometimes both )

    How does this change the fact that in the end game where everyone gets a Nuke that recharges in 90 secs ( if i remember correctly ) which further affects the blasters role.

    It addresses none of these Core issues IMO..

    Also keep in mind that the average forum person is not the average or casual player. Many of us here have excellent knowledge of the game.. the ability to easily make a soft capped to several positions or type build.. etc etc..

    My Elec/Elec wouldnt take those things because they dont fit the playstyle of building a sapper.. I dont need to take a snipe when I can drain a mob to zero end and keep them there.. Now if the Elec/Elec Blaster is built with powers that drain foes in melee range with PbAoE attacks why would its buff come from the one power that does the opposite of what the set appears to be built to do ?? Which is why I questioned earlier why wasnt this placed in lightning field ( which makes more sense to me )

    I simply dont like the idea of sticking the buffs onto what appears to be on the surface random power choices that seem designed to purposely make it more DIFFICULT to get a better blaster when the blaster SHOULD have been better in the first place... and the blaster has had crap thrown at it for a while Defiance 1,0 remember that grand idea where it was said that maybe you should stay half dead to get the damage boost. yeah brilliant..

    Fixing Snipes is good.. the fix tied to other powers and basically installing a gate where that fix wont work.. NOT GOOD...

    Again.. I have that choice.. but one blaster didnt improve.. yet if I make choices on another build THAT Blaster can improve greatly..

    I see the same problem...

    I dont think that because Blaster are finally being thrown a bone after 8 years they should accept that bone..

    And for the record I dont have any problem with ANY of the blasters I play.. I enjoy them the way they are.. and I will tell you that all of my blasters except one..

    Do not have Tough and Weave
    Are not built for any defense whatsoever
    Do not have Aid Self

    and I dont die every ten seconds...

    I just believe if you are going to improve something, dont do it half way.. The Stalker changes IMO were universally accepted as better by the Stalker community..

    Blasters should get the same treatment.. not some stuff added onto powers that people may or may not take ever because it doesnt fit their build or playstyle

    Certain choice.. huge advantage.. Other choices.. no advantage.....

    I would like to see ALL choices gain at least SOME advantage...
  3. This is where I have a problem.. Lets look at the changes to Stalkers....

This buff increases Assassin's Strike's chance to critically hit (for +100% damage) while not Hidden by 33.3%. Assassin's Focus stacks up to three times. Using Assassin's Strike when you are not Hidden removes all stacks of Assassin's Focus.
    These changes helped EVERY Stalker improve.. regardless of build or power choice...

    I looked over my blasters today...

    How did my Electric/Electric Blaster improve with todays news...

    a) I didnt take a Snipe.. and I wont take one.. that doesnt improve him..

    b) I dont have a tier 3 heavy hitting blast to equalize the range on.. and that is a weakness of Electric already..

    c) I am NOT going to take Lightning Clap.. so I dont get a regen recovery boost..

    So THIS blaster gets ZERO benefit from these changes..

    but EVERY Stalker benefitted from the changes of the AT.. NOT the changes in powers.. changes in the AT..

    Now conversely my Arch/Devices Blaster will get LOTS of improvement. He will drop GunDrone to add a Snipe because he has Targeting Drone, @ 21.9% to hit buff now and with one Kismet he will have a 1 second Snipe ALL THE TIME and will benefit GREATLY from the Snipe changes and the buff to Targeting Drone.. Not to mention that he has a crashless Nuke.. so he will get better..

    Does that seem fair.. One blaster improves greatly simply because of build choices while one gets NO benefit because of build choices..

    This is NOT the answer.. ALL Stalkers improved with the changes made to them.. But These Blaster changes are not changes to the AT.. so depending on my choices I can still suffer from the VERY SAME ISSUES that affect blasters now... This is NOT what the AT needs..
  4. And why not give Build Up for blaster the treatment that Inner Light for PB's got.. A burst in damage with decreasing damage over time ??? Why doesnt this make sense for blasters ??
  5. Color me very unimpressed. I dont need regen.. I dont have the resistance or the defense to take advantage of building health over time.

    I think that the percentage to get off a faster shot is far to high...

    The shot still is underpowered even though it occurs faster. I would rather have a stronger shot.

    Why is Lightning Clap getting the buff ?? Really ?? Is that just a way to get people to take a power that most people just skip because it totally blows.. Why not put it in lightning field.. You put the Fire Manip buff in their toggle..

    Increasing the range of the shorter blasts.. EXCELLENT>. best news of all this..

    You DID however manage to make Devices a LOT better...

    While this is a move in the right direction it feels like the totally wrong move..

    I dont see how this will improve the majority of my blasters overall.

    No disagreement there. You can alter powersets in some ways.. Those were good changes.. as were the changes to Gravity and Kheldians.. didnt break anything.. in most cases I am aware of made them better..

    I think people are expecting massive rewrites and changes to secondaries and I just cant see that happening...

    What blasters need to do IMO is pump out more damage consistently over time because its the ONE thing that they do and when they cant do it.. they are at a serious disadvantage...

    AND FIX SNIPES !!!!!

    Not likely.. and some of us very much like the secondaries we chose and dont want a total revamp.. which is why I have always said that a total secondary rewrite wont happen. The same way some people wont want their nukes to be changed.. some people would rather have more damage and a crash which they have learned to manage quite well than less damage and no crash..

  10. Im sorry I just find this utterly annoying. I have several toons who have no use for this catalyst because they dont use the ATIO's and have plenty and I have toons that do use them who are struggling to even get one... I think its still that this cannot be traded within accounts. I can understand not putting it on the market but not being able to trade a drop from a toon that doesnt need it to one that does is just irksome to me..

    I hope this change is considered at some point.
  11. I had this idea to make a Staff/DA/Earth Brute called Sandstorm recoloring the Dark Armor as sand ( did that on a Stone/DA tank works great ). But I have never played Staff before and my defense numbers look too low ( around 35% ) and I seem crunched for slots. Maybe I need to drop an attack (possibly Serpents Reach )

    I need some new eyes on this one... Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Discuss please.. pretty much all I play is CoH and I would like to try the Star Wars MMO. I dont play shooters on my PC.. I have a Xbox360 for that.. I am using a 750 watt power supply if that is a factor and I am a little concerned about noise and heat and have no idea which is better..

    Ill be going I-5 Ivy Bridge with 8 gigs of ram ( might get 16 cause ram is cheap right now ). Getting a Samsung 128 SSD ( got one on sales yesterday for 90 bucks !!! ). MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard looks like my best option right now for what I want..

    Anyway thats the two cards I am looking at..

    Any advice would be appreciated..

I am making a Staff/Dark/Earth Mastery brute ( coloring the Dark Powers brown for a Sand/Earth Theme ) and I have never played Staff before. what are the core powers for the set and what if anything is skippabe for a Brute ?? I am leaning to skipping either the silly looking breakdance power or the attack that strikes at the foes feet ( sorry I dont know the names )

    Any Advice would be appreciated..

  19. Thanks for the advice.. the old drive is very old I really want to get the stuff off that drive... I dont think installing it into a new PC is the answer. Im actually thankful it lasted this long.
  20. I should be finished assembling all the part for my new PC build next month and now I need to figure out how to transfer my old files to the new PC.

    My current PC is running Windows XP ( i think its professional ) my new PC will be Windows Home 64 Bit. Old Hardrive is small 120 or 140 Gigs.. new one will be a 1TB.

    I am most concerned about my old pictures, videos, game files, some software programs, favorite files and my password manager program...

    Whats the best way to do this. I am also considering buying an external drive as a back up. Should I get that first and transfer all the files to that and then upload to new PC? Is there a good program that helps me do this..

    I am a novice as this is my first PC build and transfer..

    In all honesty just because you dont see people playing something doesnt mean its not good. I have almost 50 toona across two servers and depending on what I am doing, who I am teaming with and how I feel I could be playing anythings..

    Also a lot of people made Elec/SS when Electric Armor first came out and therefore its no long the " Flavor of the Month " because many months have passed it by.

    I have one on Virtue who is quite powerful and has little to no defense in its build at all. Of course Perma Energize makes that kind of moot..

    and YES Toxic hurts.. but I believe that all toons should have a weakness

    The Developers are not going to change the secondaries across the board as they are too established and there are too many people with established toons ad build that enjoy them as they are..

    And in all honesty I dont care of Corruptors or Dominators improved slightly.. I play everything as do most of the people on this board..
  23. I am totally against any complete overhaul to secondaries.. ONE it aint gonna happen.. too much time labor and resources.. Secondly a lot of the player base and I am definitely including myself LOVES their melee attacks on blasters.. These things to me are arguments that amount to nothing because its not going to happen.

    The mez issue to me is something that is a problem but its not easily solved. Blasters were given defiance which is a help because no one else is allowed to attack while actually being mezzed but it doesnt seem to be enough for most people. In all honesty I am on the fence with this issue because my defenders, corruptors and controllers cannot attack through mezz and I dont agree with the argument that all those AT's have a way to mitigate that mezz. I agree that SOME sets in SOME combinations do.. but not all of them... and if they get mezzed there is nothing that they can do..

    I also am tired of the scrapper ala melee AT argument. I play melee AT's mostly Brutes and Tanks.. ( i hate scrappers and stalkers although I have a few scrappers here and there). In all honesty I dont care if another AT can solo +4/x8... somehow that became the measuring stick of success and if you cannot do that then you arent successful.. I dont agree with that premise and I think the devs wont either.

    There are things that can be done immediately to improve the blaster class that dont require the rework of secondaries or adding more mez protection.

    1) Remove the crash from nukes that have them and reduce their recharge time to match nukes like Rain of Arrows. Also the blaster damage should be checked to make sure it is in line with Incarnare Judgement Powers. Also either defense boosts should be applied to all PBAoE nukes so that the blaster doesnt get the crap beat out of them trying to fire it off OR reduce the time it takes for it to fire...

    2) Fix Snipes. Snipes were destroyed with ED, Blasters used to slot Snipes with 1 Accuracy 5 damage or 6 damage and use Build up and Aim to take out a target.. usually an annoying minion like a Malta Sapper or a LT.. Now Snipes are horrible... sometimes It wont even take out an even con minion.. This is a shame.. Snipes simply are not worth the damage. End cost.. Activation time and Rooting to be so ineffective.. This has to be addressed..

    3) Normalize the range on ALL attacks. The Blaster is the ranged specialist. The blaster should have all attacks normalized to 80 feet. No more 40 foot blasts.. also these should be normalized across all powersets..

    4) Give blasters inherent ranged defense as part of the AT. We were told once that range was a blasters defense.. Then the Blaster should get DEFENSE at range against ranged attacks to simulate what He/She does best.

    5) Make sure ALL combinations of Primaries and Secondaries have access to a Aim'Build Up combo... Devices has no build up option.. a Damage buff should be added to Targeting Drone to compensate.
  24. Maybe I dont see the problem with Blasters because Im not playing solo @ +4/x8... But then again I never play at that setting for anybody..
