Event: Promotion Ceremony for Burly
Date: Saturday 11/14/2009
Time: 6:00pm EST
The Crimson Order supergroup proudly announces the promotion of one of one of our oldest members to the Founder class. Burly has been with us since the beginning and now that we have finally ousted the Villains out of the number one spot on Liberty Server we plan to celebrate by honoring him. Burly is always ready to help in any way possible and I'm sure that many of you have found yourself on a team with a "Burly".
Festivities after the ceremony include a Costume Contest in Atlas Part, Scavenger Hunt, and if we can figure out the mechanics...FINGER PAINTING!!!(Infernal's Idea...)
This is the highest honor in our group and we would like to share the celebration with the entire Liberty server! So please join us and celebrate our friend and comrade... and maybe get a couple of prizes along the way!
Regards,
The Crimson Order

I know your fighting hard and I wish you luck sir. You always have a spot with the Crimson Order and we await your triumphant return. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

I've been told by Infernal that I don't play ENOUGH coh lately...
That will hopefully be changing soon but I have to say that you know you play too much coh when...
you can't sleep cause you're playing coh in your head...
sad but true :-) -
A little late to the party but... WELCOME TO LIBERTY SERVER!!!!!!!!!
(haha mine was louder) :-) -
Quote:This explanation make me feel warm like returning home...lolI can't believe no one noticed this earlier!
Since everyone loved my last bug explanation:
Level capped experience being converted into influence was broken because of an off by one error. (49 is never >= to 50)
Exemplaring converting experience into influence was broken because the experience was being added to influence before influence was being set (note these lines were a lot further apart):
Influence += Reward->Experience;
Influence = Reward->Influence;
GiveInfluence( Player, Influence );
Gotta love debugging....

It was discussed heavily in the base building forums during the open beta of i13. But with all of the other base discussions it could have easily been overlooked. As far as I know the double door hack is still on the back burner but I believe it is supposed to be on the list at least (how far down one can only imagine...) My base was redesigned layout-wise at that time to accommodate. We purchased the largest size we could and outfitted the base with tons of double doors. My base is always open to tours just /t me at @original-prankster, we are on liberty server.

"*sigh* Yes BaBs?"
"You're in the beta, right?"
"Can't tell you."
"Aww, c'mon! Can you at least tell if power customization WORKS?"
"Guess we'll see in open beta, won't we?"
"Don't give me that crap! I spent more than a year keeping it quiet! I want to know it came out right!"
"Dude, chill. We patched twice this week. Open beta should start soon."
"Damnit... Hey Castle! What's up buddy?"
"Rule #1 of Closed Beta: do not talk about Closed Beta."
"But I-"
"RULE #2 OF CLOSED BETA: DO NOT TALK ABOUT CLOSED BETA."
"Awwwww... Hey pohsyb! How's life?"
"LALALA IN MY BOX CAN'T HEAR YOU."
"Now I'm wishing I really had quit." -

Anyway you can add a filter for language. As the forums are separated by Language maybe there could be a different Digest per language?
BTW: wonderful job so far! -
Quote:Can you please point me to the part in the i14 patch notes that says that, I couldn't find it. New forums are a little harder to Navigate so I'm sure my search-foo is not strong yet. There is nothing that says AE farm = exploit, but, the I14 patch notes clearly state that AE is not to be used for farming, which is what people creating these farms continually ignore.
Personally, I only have one beef with farmers on MA. When I search for a story arc, having to wade through a hundred thousand versions of the EXACT SAME FARM!!
Those are the ones I report, just to cull the list. Just because one farms buff NPCs have different costumes than anothers does not make it any different. Having the exact same map, exact same enemies, etc... c'mon people! I don't report them because they're farms, I report them because they're spam
If not for that, I couldn't care less at this point about AE farms. -
Quote:Could you please point to the post or document that says that AE Farms are considered exploits? I was unable to find anything that said AE farm = exploit so if you know where it's at I would definitely like to read it.I think this has been said, but I will say it again anyway:
It is not true that all farms are exploits, and thus against the 'rules' of the game.
AE farms have been declared as exploits by the dev team because they tend to involve other aspects that are against what the devs have defined as acceptable game play, like leveling WAY too fast, too much reward for too little risk, etc..
Quote:Originally Posted by PositronSome of you have taken the stance of “how does powerlevelling hurt the game?” and “shouldn’t I be able to play the game the way that I want?” What we want to make clear is in order to keep the game fair, balanced, and challenging, we have to maintain a risk:reward ratio. This is a ratio we’ve spent years attempting to achieve. Mission Architect is not immune to this, and we are taking swift action to see that the problems players are seeing and are being exposed to are remedied.
This quote was from Positron in May concerning the abuse of MA. At that time people where heavily using exploits in MA to actively power level their toons. Methods like front loading groups of bosses around defendable buffing objects or loading a mission full of allies who buffed/debuffed. Those are farms, but the problem is not that they are a farm but that they are exploits that reduce the risk/reward to almost 0%/100%. I would challenge you to take a toon that you don't know how to play or that you haven't slotted into one of my farm missions. You would die constantly... I agree that exploits that allow for crazy one to two day 50's is just wrong. But playing an open map mission full of bosses carries high risk/high reward. There is no exploit in it, we just build toons that can withstand the beating and can dish it back. -
Quote:If you had actually read my post you would know that I have already discussed that I wasn't referring to myself as a genius. Please actually read before you comment and make yourself look foolish.Geez, Prankster, arrogant much? I stopped reading your post once you declared your self a reality-changing genius.
Here is an outline so you can read it through:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=140
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=160
If you can please point out where I appointed myself a genius that has changed reality I would most definitely appreciate it. Other than that don't comment unless you've actully read it an understand what the poster was saying... -

Quote:I see what you're saying Chase, it is too easy to fall into the trap of thinking you know what the other person means. On the other hand I think my trigger was tripped by the attitude that a farm is "Bad" which was very thick. Maybe the correct route is through education rather than complaint. We need to educate people that farm does not equal bad... And that exploit indicates using a flaw or unintended side effect in the game with out reporting it and to your own advantage for example setting a mission full of mitos to 49 level cap because they have no usable power at that level or using confuse on a hero in RV and having them go back to atlas and nova the groups under the atlas statue(notice both instances were fixed quite expediently) those are exploits, using a bug to your advantage. Boss mobs in AE missions are not bugs. exiting and reseting a mission is not a bug it's a creative use of the rules which is not wrong. If it was then there would be a whole lot of accounts that would be dropped for misuse of the system...Right. That was what I was trying to Illustrate.
To many old-schoolers, a "farm" is inherently negative. For a very long time it was something that ONLY applies to the MISUSE or abuse of the system. Over time, it's been adopted by many more to have a much broader meaning by others... doing things that we'd possibly call a grind or a hunt, but not a farm.
-------
The point: if someone's so shocked that a person would brag about "griefing" something as innocent as a farm (in the casual sense)... maybe don't jump to the conclusion that he's using the term in the same way as you.
And before I jump on people that would defend doing something that's so BLATANTLY an exploit, maybe I should see if they're using the same lexicon that I am. -
Well I'd say I have a step up from you seeing as I have to explain this but I wasn't referring to myself being a genius or myself changing reality. I was commenting that there is place in this world for people who make their own reality and don't except the status quo and many of those same people have changed the current perception of reality because reality is only a perception. All though I do suppose there are people in this world that think the world is flat.... are you one?
-
Quote:Please could you quote my entire post when responding instead of picking out what you want to read from it....That's what I call "The rules don't apply to me!"
Guess what?
The rules apply to you.
And the funny thing is that your right the rules do apply to me... funny thing is I've been "farming" for the past couple of YEARS, and have never been chastised(by anyone of consequence...) for breaking the rules. I suppose you could say I've never been caught, but if I had what rule is it that has been broken... could you please cite it? -
NuclearToast:
That is exactly why I play this game... I play because I can play the way I want to not how other people tell me to. I think you'll find that most true geniuses of our time have done the same and changed reality.
As for Demobot
It's only a defense if you have to defend something and since there is no rule in this game that says that farming is wrong then I have nothing to defend. The funny thing is that just because someone doesn't like the current implementation of something doesn't mean it is outside the rules or an exploit. As for the "If the game allows it it's fine" Can you find me the rule that says that I can't farm. Where in the EULA does it say that? If it was wrong there would be a rule against it but there is not. It would be like me reporting arcs for being terribly long and wasting my time, I don't like it so I should report it... Right? But the game doesn't say they can't make crappy long drawn out MA arcs... So it must be just defense against the fact that the mission is crappy not that they have a right to play the game how they want to within the rules set by Coh.....Right?
/end rant
