Quote:Even if you nicked part of this from 'Prince of Thieves', you managed to bring tears to my eyes in a busy German airport, because it is also happens to be true! Well played, indeed! There is no more determined fighter than one who fights for their home.
PARAGON CITY IS OUR HOME.
Dig your feet in. Take a breath. Pop an inspiration or two if you need to...
THEN CHARGE FORWARD.
And the gates of all possibility will FALL BEFORE YOU.
And I agree, the Tabula Rasa community could not begin to compare with this one - no other can, really!

Hi everyone,
Some slightly off the wall posts nonwithstanding, this community shows a maturity and spirit its darkest days that simply has no equal! Instead of just packing our things and go quietly, we have recovered and come out guns blazing and I really hope that we end up defying the terrible odds and winning the day. But either way, I strongly believe that we are already making history (in our own small way) as we go.
Of course the guys at Paragon Studios, who were hit hardest by all this, are the very heart of this community - it is most likely that it would not exist in its current form if it were not for them. And despite Zwillingers fair words of caution, I cannot help feeling at least a little bit hopeful - it is simply inspiring to see how many people have joined.
I wish all of us could really be there with you Paragon Studio guys as you fight for your beloved game as well as for your very livelyhoods. But one look here or into the Titan Network shows you that we ARE indeed with you in spirit.
All the best, to all of you (and us)!

NO-ONE can possibly play farm after farm and not notice - to suggest that you can just miss the tons of easy-falling mobs giving insane XP is simply insulting everyone's intelligence.
Zos -
I think if we start discussing ex-employees of NCSOFT, they will close this thread fairly quickly.
[Edited my other comments to avoid further derailing this one.]

Can I go after Statesman instead? He wears a funnier helmet.

Agreed, but Statesman-bashing is not so nicely controversial - almost everyone hates him.
And incidentally - it is Statesman (J. Emmett), who is doing the CO, so people will have fun ... >

I missed that one, thanks Syn!

I may have to eat my words later, but I seriously doubt they will reset every toon that has ever joined a farming mission!
What they will probably do is do their best to stop people from abusing the MA system to create farms. Which to me sounds fair enough.
Of course I cannot tell anyone if they should or should not be offended - but in the tanker nerf I saw people who also felt it was just targeted against them personally.
It is the same now - not individuals are being singled out, this will affect groups who behaved in a certain way - which by the way was clearly marked as "wrong" from the beginning!
And finally I fail to see what is the problem with losing the benefits of 1 or 2 hours farming. As I understand, that is all there is - there won't be a shame-board with the server's biggest farmers. O.o
Anyway, I think that maybe it would be better to see what actually happens and then decide based on facts rather than suspicion and assumptions.

Irrespective of whether you love farming, dont care or hate it THEY have introduced a devisive update which has split the community.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously I can only speak for myself here, but I think that if there really is a split, it is not caused by "divisive" content (MA) but by a few people in the community treating a simple matter of adjusting the game balance like a personal insult.
I am old enough (in CoH-terms) to remember for example the time when the community was "divided" because of the tanker-nerf "made tanks weak to the point where they could no longer function".
Agreed, the decisive statement from NCSOFT was overdue and also they could have foreseen the PR-fallout of first letting the farmers be and then coming out with a statement like this.
But I still maintain that on the whole the MA in itself was a great idea, probably the best in years. The difficulties coming with this large content upgrade will hurt us for a while longer, but eventually the hysteria will die down and we will go back to normal.
I am convinced that most of us will still be here in 1, 3 and even 5 years - I simply trust Posi's crowd to do the right thing eventually.
Just my few cents, only time will tell ...
Zoser -
While I normally just tend to ignore farmers and farming requests, I am still happy that something is being done to stop this.
Personally I do not share the DOOOOOM - crying by some in this or other threads. MA is not going to be replacing proper game development, it is just an addition and one I rather like at that.
Well done, Posi - better late than never!
Zos -
My name is Zoser and I am not going anywhere either!
And now of all times would be the most unlikely one for me to change my mind - granted, the MA is still flawed, but its potential is amazing.
Zos -
NCSOFT are making another big mistake here, but that has been said again and again already.
Thank you, Alex, for all your help and for just being a great guy. You will most certainly be missed.
And all the best for the future!

Now I will have to sort through this mess and find out if there are any posts yet on if this means that there won't be any further EU meets ...
[/ QUOTE ]
All future EU meets will be held in the US. Since people had to travel to get to them anyway - they may as well travel somewhere warm and sunny
[/ QUOTE ]
Be careful when you say that - and remember to take your sun lounger to the Alaska 2010 Meet.

A meet in Alaska?
Could be fun - plus we can keep an eye on Putin's boys ... as you can see Russia them from Alaskan houses' windows. *eg*

Hi all,
I can only join all the others who have already commented on the excellence of the European NCSOFT team! By now I think I have met most of you guys and can only say it has been a privilege! Good bye and good luck to all who were made redundant - you will be missed. :'(
Avatea, welcome to the hot seat and all the best for your move.
Now I will have to sort through this mess and find out if there are any posts yet on if this means that there won't be any further EU meets ...

Another wonderful weekend at the NEC - a big "thank you" to all the NCSOFT guys for the hard work of making this happen!
And Kat & Jason were truly amazing, rarely pausing for a drink, sandwich or just to breathe - Kat literally drew until her fingers bled. O.o
I got two wonderful coloured sketches done and I am well pleased with them.
Hoping for another weekend with the NCSOFT crowd, DTWT and hopefully GhostWidow and Miss Liberty!
Zoser -
... which hopefully will be Memorabilia.
Any word on that yet?
Zos -
I said it already in person - all the best for the future and you will be missed.
Zoser -
Guys,
Donkey, don't underestimate the power of the Amboss!
To be fair to the NCSOFT management - despite the mistakes I feel they made, both in their decisions and in communicating them - they have clearly said that CoH WILL go on as one of their major titles.
This seems to still hold true, since I haven't heard any news whatsoever that the additional DEVs in NorCal were let go again. So they are working away on the game and I am positive we will see good stuff coming out of this!
Coming back to my statement about mistakes in communication, I think it is not surprising that we as a community are/were worried, even frustrated.
Fact is that the names that I personally know as being responsible for CoH are Rockjaw (I know, only amongst other things - but you WERE at each of the meets. *g*), Kerensky, Aero, Palladium and GhostRaptor. Then 3 of these 5 were let go.
Meet-ups I had considered to be certain are suddenly not sure to happen anymore (OS) or haven't been mentioned at all (Memorabilia).
Until your post yesterday, GR, I was entirely unaware that there are that many people in the wings ready to continue the community support.
Of course I have met some of the other excellent community people (i.e. ze two crazi Germans *g*), but my understanding was that they were normally quite busy with supporting the other games.
I think that the management of the company was a tad short-sighted not to foresee this fallout if they remove (at least) three of the most well-known community people without a bit more information. A simple official press release would have done.
Again, I am not having a dig at you or any of the other community guys - I honestly believe that all of you gave us all you could - but there could have been more re-assurance from the powers-that-be!
Zoser -
Again, very sad to see all these excellent people go!
A very clear case from saving money on the wrong end.
We will raise our glass for you on Saturday!
Zos -
Excellent work on the recent KittenZ, I especially love the tribute to Mighty.
Zoser -
Hello all,
Unfortunately I didn't have time yet to read the whole thread, but I think I got the gist of it ...
I was away (RL and in game) for a while and now I come back to this ... it is terrible news, first and foremost for the people who lose their jobs. Guys, all the best of luck for you, may you find new work quickly! *fingers crossed*
But their loss is also ours, as this great community was shaped not only by the amazing people playing the game but also and in a very large part by the outstanding NCSOFT community team in Brighton.
Having been at many a show where I met (and probably annoyed) them, I have gotten to know and value them as friends. Rockjaw, Aero - you will be sorely missed and I hope we really can meet up in game at least!
Of course I have just made arrangements to fly over to the UK, so I will (hopefully) be meeting you guys on Saturday.

So, count me in for the next raid.
