But you're not as ripped off as the Irish.
-
Now, just imagine how long twenty orders of steak are going to take to cook!
-
Myself and Jen.
We'll eat anything that used to walk around a field. -
While I think you were insane for even contemplating a near 8-hour drive, it would have been great to finally meet you. No chance at all of persuading you?
-
No, I'm afraid not. You'll need to re-make your character from scratch on Union.

Jen and I will be there!

[ QUOTE ]
So because some idiots have abused the system, you want to stop that branch completely by disallowing all use of it (no matter how IC it is); in effect, nerfing it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Firstly, it's not a system that a lot of us are familiar with. I'm sure there are many roleplayers who use the /em command to actually portray thought bubbles, but we don't. This is bound to create confusion. I think, as an IC tool, smileys are confusing at best, irritating at worst. There are too many different ways to interpret them on their own.
I should also point out that, to my knowlegde, this is the first time the use of smileys in roleplay has become an issue of debate. Most people don't seem to mind leaving them out and using words instead. I'll ask again, is it really so difficult to type /em winks instead of in order to make sure you're understood?
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps, but I do think it's indicative of some RP'ers that things turn elitest at times; and as this thread's already shown, it's rather frightening for new players to be met by this wall of "rules".
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, so far, the "rules" of GG, are play nice, keep IC and OOC seperate, have fun, and we'd prefer if you didn't use smileys and leet. Hardly a "wall." I've seen much more strict guidelines. Indeed, preferring that dialogue be kept to real words is hardly elitist.
I mean, if we're at the stage where it's considered elitist to ask that people speak in an actual language, I'm very afraid.
[ QUOTE ]
If people don't want to interact with those of us that use differing ways of RP'ing, that's fine; but blanket condemnations and jokes about using punctuation in real speech are sometimes just as off-putting as the Assassin Strikes in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Opinions were offered, requests made. Nothing more. The closest we saw on this thread to what you describe was Ravenswing saying he'd ignore characters who spoke in smileys, which you yourself view as perfectly acceptable. Jokes are made in good humour, if offence is taken, apologies are made. This is how society works. People shouldn't have to walk on eggshells.
[ QUOTE ]
With the hundreds of tools you turn away, there may be a few good players that would have been great people to RP with; that's my concern.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I for one moment thought there were "hundreds" of people interested in GG, I'd be thrilled.
For the record, I've never asked people to leave GG, for any reason. I've never ignored someone for how they roleplay unless they're godmoding, making an attempt to spoil others' enjoyment of the game, and have ignored requests to stop. I feel certain that many other GG attendees are the same. -
I'm very sorry you feel that way, Weasel. I just don't see the difficulty or problem in typing /em winks instead of
On a more practical note, it can often, for me at least, be very confusing the see leet and smileys in use while people are roleplaying. Especially if I don't know the player or the character, if I see someone type "lol" or ";p" in local, I often think they're speaking OOC, and in several cases, I've seen someone seem to switch between IC and OOC without any form of notice, or even treat them as though there were no difference between them. -
Agreed. I mean, how many people go around saying "colon bracket" to indicate that they're happy?
Semicolon P. -
Yes, Jess is great, and actually describing an action is far better than using a smiley.
</ninja-post from work> -
Richard, Beverly, and Carol will have been there, as would Alcatraz, probably with Anna.
-
And it would mean that all of the roleplayers already playing would get screwed over because we'd have to start new characters to play on the RP server.
Not to mention the cost of actually creating and maintaining a new server.
And you'd get people asking why there aren't French and German RP servers if they only made an English one.
Basically CoH was never marketed as a roleplaying game, and was never designed as one. If it were, you would have the ability to engage in dialogue with NPCs, have alternate solutions to missions, the ability to build up actual relationships with NPCs, etc. -

and a damn good thing too! imagine wat cudhav happend to my thread.. :O my beloved story!
i do NOT want it locked.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, the un-edited version would have definitely been deleted, not merely locked, and I can imagine some kind of disciplinary action such as account banning, suspension, or at the -very- least, a warning woulkd have been given.
[ QUOTE ]
having said that, what if someone other than the OP posts something rude.. will the thread still risk being banned?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you need to pick a different phrase other than "rude," which really does not cover the depths of your original version.
But, to answer your question, individual posts which a moderator decides are inappropriate for the forums can be deleted. The side-effect of this, is that any posts along the chain of replies to that specific post will also be lost. -
Why do you even need to delete the base?? You can't even turn Prestige back into Influence/Infamy, so you gain nothing by selling off the contents, and lose nothing by leaving it there.
The only possible reason I can think of is that you fell out with your SG, and wanted to delete the Base as some kind of payback. -
I've read the PM you sent me.
I refuse to comment on it here.
Change it. -
I'm just saying, is all. The OP was asking for a way to delete bases, I commented there was no need to, you mentioned the announcement for due rent, and I simply commented it was not a major complaint, so not a real reason to want to delete a base.
No need to react so defensively. -
I'm curious as to why anyone would "need" to delete a Base anyway. It's the only thing Prestige can be used for, and if you don't need the Base, leave it there. It doesn't cost you anything.

Public forum, public comments, public criticism.
And BRICK, it's Wordmaker , not Windmaker.
Edit: Pious was able to take what we've said on board, and I thank him for it. -
This actually isn't all that bad. It's another background summary, not an actual story, but the conversational method works for those.
The only real criticism I'd have is, why is this Anna person just standing there letting him talk if they're obviously enemies? He comes across as very threatening, and you give Anna no chance to speak or defend herself. She comes across as not really a character at all, just a thing to be spoken to.
