I'm pretty sure if you leave the rent for 2 months that you lose access to it, if that's enough. Otherwise you could sell all the items and rooms except the entrance, and then forget about it...
The third idea I had was to kick everyone from your SG, leave it yourself also, then reregister the name. I don't know if that will drop your base, but I would assume so. It would also wipe all of your prestige.. but then without a base I can't think of why you would really care about prestige 
Why delete it at all. Just delete everyting in it. Then forget that it exist.
Every SG has a base, only thing you could do is deleting everything but the entrance room, then you should not get any rent.
Even if you will get slight rent, it does not accumulate, so you'll just lose base access until you pay it.

But don't you have to 'get' the base, ie. using rights from the SG registrar?(or 'building rights' if you think in-character) Starting SGs don't have a base originally afaik, it has to be acquired from the SG registrar. Even if its just the entrance room after that.
I'm curious as to why anyone would "need" to delete a Base anyway. It's the only thing Prestige can be used for, and if you don't need the Base, leave it there. It doesn't cost you anything.
Because every time you log on, you'll get a message telling you that owe rent on it, no matter how long ago it was due. Very annoying, it is.

I'm just saying, is all. The OP was asking for a way to delete bases, I commented there was no need to, you mentioned the announcement for due rent, and I simply commented it was not a major complaint, so not a real reason to want to delete a base.

Just sell off the components in your base until you're left with the entrance room, and forget about it. No one is winning anything!

Why do you even need to delete the base?? You can't even turn Prestige back into Influence/Infamy, so you gain nothing by selling off the contents, and lose nothing by leaving it there.
The only possible reason I can think of is that you fell out with your SG, and wanted to delete the Base as some kind of payback.

Can i delete my SG base? so i still have the SG name and im still in it, but there is no base anymore.
