We didn't get to know you as well as some of the other Paragon staff, but I wish we had Zwillinger. Whatever new company hires you will be lucky to have you!

Quote:Ah, ok sorry my bad. Just so much going on in this thread, I got confused.Pay attention. We weren't talking about NCSoft. We were talking about Perfect World who now owns Cryptic.
Perfect World has headquarters in Beijing China and Redwood City California. Hence my comment about enforcing copyright in China.
But even if we were talking about NCSoft the instead of Perfect World the US copyright laws still can't be enforced outside US borders without the cooperation of the foreign government where the copyright violations are occuring. -
Ok, first of all NCSOFT is Korean, not Chinese. Second, Cryptic Studios is the original DEVELOPERS of the City of Heroes property that worked with the PUBLISHER NCSoft to release the game, the later sold the game to the PUBLISHER, NCSOFT, a number of years ago.

Quote:Yeah that's the one thing I'm semi-worried about, but in the end, if they do I still have already done what needs to be done to keep in contact with the friends I've made over the years. However, when I felt I had no choice but to dispute charges, I made sure to NOT dispute the 14.99 charges that were my VIP subscription. As I said earlier, I hate disputing charges, but I very strongly feel that points purchased in the last month to two months, stuff that I will not have much time to actually play to 50 unless I farm (and if I did, big whoop i got another 50 being deleted in less than 3 months), is stealing my money. If I bought a DVD and found that only half of the movie was there, I wouldn't accept anything but either a refund OR the rest of the movie. They have shown they want to give me another movie in a totally different genre? That's not acceptable.Just letting everyone know, regardless of what the EULA may or may not say, if you were fortunate enough to pay via American Express, just call them and say "the product delivered was not as promised". You will get a refund, period.
If you really want to punch NCsoft in the balls, you could probably get a few months of previous payments refunded as well, although they will probably kill your account.
Oh, and I will add though, even if I don't get a refund for my points spent on stuff I won't really get a chance to use as I believe I should, that is nothing compared to those of you with prepaid VIP subscriptions extending past the 3 month window (or hell, even past the day of the announcement really). Even if I can't get my points money back, there is NO reason you extended prepaid VIPs shouldn't. -
What a lot of people are talking about is the amount of time that you can file a dispute. On the day I found this out, I called my bank and I asked them what THEIR dispute time was. I was told by MY BANK that if I think there could be a problem, I should get my dispute registered immediately, as the longer I wait, the less chance I have of getting something done. Now, I would LOVE to be able to give NCSoft all the time... but I can't. Because MY BANK told me not to wait. I did NOT file a dispute at that time, I told them I would try to resolve it with NCSoft first, but please send me information in case polite negotiation doesn't work.
I don't want to get my bank involved and dispute charges, I HATE doing that and I know the additional hardship that 'chargebacks" places on the company.
Prime example, I once felt I was owed a refund from SOE and I emailed them about it. They stated their no refunds policy and I sent them another email, politely explaining my reasons thinking my case should be an exception. I got a reply from Smedley himself, saying that they would refund my money and they did. I politely worked with SOE to try to get a refund from them before any 'knee-jerk' dispute was filed and I got my refund because I made a clear and concise email about it. I've done this with NCSoft also, but they keep giving me different answers. That I've seen two messages have been posted of different thing people were told by NCSoft... I've gotten both of those messages. I tried to be polite with them as I was with SOE. It failed. I have no choice now but to take off the gloves. -
Quote:Yeah, but the problem is Zwillinger, as my credit card company told me, once it's gone through you have limited chance to dispute it as you approved the charge already. So, we have a VERY limited window on this if they dont' give us refunds, by the time we find out they aren't there won't be much we can do if we do need to dispute something with PayPal or our credit card company. NCSoft needs to give us an answer, unless taking away our options due to a statute of limitations on disuptes is their intent, which I really hope isn't the case. That looks very much to me like the "standard response" from customer service.
At this point I've not received any details regarding a refund process, what you can get a refund for or how to go about requesting one. As soon as they pass along those details, myself or whomever is left will definitely communicate that.
For now, I can't do anything but advise you to wait until NCsoft has communicated that information.
FWIW, I'm very sorry that they haven't communicated this information and have passed along your frustrations. -
Quote:Unfortunately after it's fully cleared that isn't always possible. There is a time limit for such things, and digital stuff is even harder.Dispute the charges with your credit card company or Paypal.
But yeah, those that paid far in advance should get their money back, not credit in other NCSoft games, that's complete and utter bulls**t. -
Thank you War Witch and I've played many MMOs over the years but this remains the only one I've ever seen the developers in game interacting with the players... THAT is one of the major reasons why this game lasted 8 years and why if not for this baffling decision from NCSoft it could go another 8 years! That level of consistent dedication to the community just doesn't happen, and I'm not sure it ever will again (unless it's you guys... I really hope that whatever you all do next you enjoy it as you did City of Heroes!)

Persistence FTW! After trying about 15 codes, I just successfully struck 348R-FNNZ-WX9V-Z6AY-N43R off the list
Keep trying guys! Not many people know about this (yet) so there are still valid codes on that list!!!! -
Awesome!
I was so worried that he developers had written AE off as a failure, but it seems I was happily wrong. I am one who still uses AE for stories, not for fire farms and every time I see "LFG for AE Farm PST" or variants of such in the AE channel I twitch and a little part of me dies inside. -
I overall like the packs, but the drop chance on the Black Wolf is just frickin' insanity. 0.3%? Seriously? Even now with me having all the elemental order costume parts, the odds of me ever getting that black wolf is pretty much still nil, isn't it?

Quote:Nope... the installer window no longer shows when it's doing a full install (which no i couldn't copy old version over or anything like that... NCSoft said to do a 100% fresh install to attempt to fix a bug that is very rare (probably not only me, but hell it could be). in fact.. .it DOES show in game... but that's not the point. Should be both places. Running the game slows the download.Worst case. Exit the game. Stop the install. Exit the Launcher. Restart the Launcher. Restart the install.
Now you should have the installer window up and it should have the estimate.
Now should it be displayed in the game? Ideally yes but the game isn't the launcher and it's the launcher that's handling the download. -
Yeah, well I just had to reinstall the game and I can't play any of my characters until Stage 4 download is complete... but when will it be complete? The launcher doesn't tell me...
Am I expected to just sit at the character select screen and wait while it downloads the tutorial and mercy island and port oakes and atlas park and kings row? Or, I could do what I had planned to do and wait until it was all downloaded then play, BUT I have no clue how long that will be... because the launcher DOES NOT TELL ME.
They obviously are trying to copy another MMO's new patching system, but they failed at it when it can't load on demand. I want to log in to a character in Cap Au Diable it should say "Sorry, we need to load Cap Au Diable please wait" and download it then and there then voila... if I take the ferry to Nerva, it then immediately downloads Nerva giving me a special loading screen.
But really, please give us some indication on the launcher of what state the game is in and how much if at all we can play it. -

Are you positive you didn't get it? You don't get a "badge awarded" popup (at least I didn't for any of my 25 characters), just it's there. Look at your Recent badges for "Constant"

Quote:Not sure if you are serious or sarcastic, but I hope you are serious, because I for one am an NA player but I am on the side of the EU players in this, they are getting shafted. It's occurrs to me that if the shoe were on the other foot and it was the NA players that were getting shafted, the EU community would be just as outraged and demanding a fairer system as they are now.
I think it should look at active accounts first. Six months inactive (or maybe a bit more, what's a military average tour of duty? While soldiers can play MMOs overseas now, not all choose to)
Second, if an account is active (or not inactive for the above), then look at veteran status.
It's not perfect, but it's the most fair to both sides. I do not think I'm better and more deserving of my @global than someone from England or France because I'm American, but the current system NCSoft has for this merger tells me I am better and more deserving. It needs to be fixed so that the oldest active account is the "better and more deserving" person, not based on where they live. -
As an NA player, I have to agree with the EU players on how they are getting shafted on the global names policy. I've been in that boat before with losing character names on server merges in Everquest (like my necromancer Joslyn became Joslynx and my mage Drusilia became Drusiliax), however my account was inactive for nearly a year at the time, so I got the shaft, as it should have been. However, had my account been active, I am pretty sure that the age of the character is/was taken into account. This is the way it should be IMO. If on the off chance my global is the same as a EU player, if that player has been playing longer than me, I would accept NA before my name. I would not appreciate it if it were being done to us the way it's being done to the EU Players.
You still have time to fix this for them, please do. -

Quote:The only thing you can really do in that case is put your time card code in a bit early. As far as I know, it will just add time to the end of your subscription, extending it. I'm not 100% sure though, as I don't use time cards.Might I recommend that you allow for, say, a single 48-hour gap, in case of people who are trying to use time cards or otherwise having problems that prevent them from keeping their account active despite their best efforts?
Why, yes. I might recommend just that. In fact, I hereby do so. -
Judge Anya Lupescu approves.
-
Yeah, I hardly do AE anymore due to the farms myself, although I did used to enjoy some of the actual stories...
If anyone DOES want to look up my actual stories, I have two. I forget the numbers, but the names are "Anya and the Dark Crows" and "The Rogue Islands Pet Shelter" or you can look for my global, @RagabashMoon -
So, if your credit card is accidentally denied and you don't catch it for a day or two, you're screwed? I occasionally have issues with my bank account not approving online charges that it otherwise should.

Quote:Yeah. The newer auras are way better done graphically, but the color just isn't as good since they only use one color slot. There should be, I think, TWO aura colors for customization, to address this exact issue. The older auras look better with one color than the new ones: Say you have a light, bright blue as your gaseous eyes aura. The center of your eyes can be almost blinding white, fading to the bright blue around it. Makes for better apparent luminosity. With the newer auras, you don't reach nearly that peak.
