Who said it has to be small chance from a TF/trial? Why can't it be small chance from anything (killing mobs/mission complete/etc)?
Why the need to have any item linked to specific events like this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because the Evil Doctor says that they want four pools to work through. Currently, that's enemy defeats, task forces, trials, and story arcs. They aren't willing to get rid of a pool at this point.
[/ QUOTE ]
I understand that, and I'm saying I think it's a crap idea and it's why this thread has 1000 posts with different complaints and desires.
Restricting any of this to specific events is a bad idea, IMO. -
[ QUOTE ][*] [u]Small Percentage of Drops from Other Pools[u] - NOOO! As we learned from the Halloween event, anything under 10% chance of a event or drop is disaster for some unlucky few who need to repeat an action over 300 times just to get that rare drop. Do you really want to do a TF 300 times to get a Story Arc Pool drop?
[*] [u]Just Have Three Pools[u] - Simplicity itself. There's no magic about the number 4, in fact, in the early levels, there are only 3 pools to begin with. Move the rare drops from Story Arcs into the other pools. Allow Story Arcs to be a 'wild card' pool that drops rares from the other pools.[/LIST]

A few thoughts/opinions.
First, I'm unaware if there's a complete list of what will be available, their values, etc...but until I see one, it's tough to really say much on this...and yet I am anyway.
None of these drops should be exclusive to content, as someone will always be left out. This is due to the current game system more then anything. The majority's complaint is 50's can't do old arcs, for valid reasons.
Mine is the TF/trials. On the CoH side, many of those are just not fun to do, and often difficult to get a team together for that amount of time. Revamping these, making them shorter and more interesting would be a huge step. Also, sure a 50 can exemp down and do a TF, but again I find that of no interest since the current system slashes my SOs in effectiveness, but I still get debt if I was at my normal range. I despise this aspect of exemping.
Just make drops for killing guys and end of mission bonus. That's something everybody does and has easy access to. If you have to make rare stuff, then make their drop rate rare.
Or better yet, as others I'm sure have mentioned, keep the mentioned system but have the story arc/TF/trial drops happen everywhere else, but with a low rate. If you want one of these drops guarenteed you go do an arc/TF/trial, but if you don't want to or can't do them, you still have a chance to get them.
Everyone is happy, and there's still rare phat loot.
Regardless, unless I'm missing something, I still don't see a reason to dust off a 50 for this. There's still nothing new to do, sure you can make yourself look cooler or more uber, but then do what with it? (I'm aware of the Hami revamp and Statesman's TF, but really, how many times would you want to do that?) -
Well, AS isn't 100% knockdown (just seems like it). Think it's like 90%? Not sure of exact number.
I've noticed this problem with power thrust as well. Thing is, usually with knockback powers, like force bolt from the force field set, if you knock them back, then use it again too soon, the mob still goes backward, but lands on his feet.
With this, like others have said, the mob doesn't budge. Looks bugged to me. -
Bye.
Damn, I suck at this game. Make something simpler! -

...and that's where you lost me. -
Think you got some 'splainin to do:
Ctab: But they're coooool.
User: Who is they?
Ctab: 'They' is... Uhm... 'them'.
User: I see, you could tell me, but then you'd have to kill me. Black ops kind of stuff. I understand.
Ctab: Like... This? *points!*.
User: Is that where Kelp touched you?
Ctab: Mostly. Sometimes I sing.
User: How long has this abuse been going on?
Ctab: I learn by learning.
User: Are you learning to tolerate the abuse?
Ctab: I'm learning a lot!
User: That's sad. You should turn him in, people will protect you. It's ok.
Ctab: Kelp says I'm not stable...
User: Of course not, he's been abusing you. Don't listen to his twisted lies!
Ctab: I know...
User: You should rise up and free yourself!
Ctab: I don't know...
User: You can do it!
Ctab: Polkadance!
User: I see, not quite ready yet? We'll work on it then.
Ctab: I don't know anyone with that name...
User: What name?
Ctab: My name's CTab!
We made some real progress. One of these days I'll get him to challenge his tormentor. This is your only warning! -

More info for you castle. I was on a low level defender last night. used a snipe attack. I got no miss or hit confirmation. The power activated and I saw the animation and nothing... Never saw anything like it before. Sounds like a similar problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone over in the Dominator's forum mentioned something similar happening with Ice Sword Circle. Hmm ....
[/ QUOTE ]
This happens all the time with snipe on my blaster if the target breaks LOS during the inerruptible phase. My toon goes through the animation of shooting, but nothing actually shoots out (energy blaster). So the attack never really happens, hence no hit or miss. Is this what you're referring to? -

The reward tables for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.
The store definitions for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.
You don't start giving up Inf. for Prestige until level 24.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't get all the rewards that are available in COH as you do in COV. No drug bust or mugging rescues to gain extra infamy in COV like there is in COH so no it is not the same rewards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but there's no ghost-pirate spawns burying treasure chests in CoH.
We couldn't POSSIBLY put extra rewards on those... could we?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pos...
Any chance of a hint where those ghost pirates might be??

I'm trying not to search on too many things as I want to learn about content on my own, so if this is comon knowledge excuse me...but...
The other night, my wife and I stumbled upon a NPC in Port Oaks, NE by the fort. I'm at work so I forget her name and can't look it up, at any rate, she basically wouldn't talk to us because we didn't defeat enough ghosts. We proceeded to pound on a bunch of pirate ghosts in that area, but it wasn't enough for her. Don't know how many she needs us to beat or what will happen next, one of these nights we'll just do that and find out. Never saw any treasure chests though. -

Ummm, wouldn't that be like what villains are supposed to do?

Not at this time.
While it's one of those storylines that has appeal, in an MMO world there is just too much potential for exploits and griefing. My villain teams with your heroes and leads you into a trap where my villain buddies wipe you out. My villain teams with your hero and intentionally fails the mission just to grief you. My villain teams with your hero and then quits the team and leaves you in the lurch or just quits and attacks you when you're resting, etc.
Like I said, not at this time. Perhaps after we can explore and work out all the problems.
[/ QUOTE ] -
I read this in a Q&A, forget which site. The reason this isn't in the game yet (if ever) is because it would be too easy for players to grief each other. Villain quits team and attacks heroes while they're resting after a fight, leading them into a trap, playing poorly on purpose, etc. If they can figure ways around this, it could be added.
