  1. Looking for some ideas on which powersets to use on a remake of one of my characters. He essentially is a science based character with the powers of a praying mantis (not completely turned into a mantis, just with similar powers). So anything along the lines of camoflauge/predator based powers would seem to work well.

Of course I know about Silver Mantis so a stalker is certainly a consideration and something that would work well I would think. The concept is for a heroic character, but with GR coming a heroic stalker would work fine. I'm pretty open to other ideas also, but am really at a loss on a specific pair of powersets. If I go stalker what powersets would represent it well? Claws? Spines? What secondary? A plant/thorn dominator is another idea but I lose the hide/camoflauge. Scrapper possibly but might be too "in your face" for a mantis idea.

    Suggestions?
  2. I appreciate you taking the time to play through my arc #15819 The Mantisman Task Force. Obviously we have very different ideas on fun, and I didn't fit what you were looking for. Regardless, you've given me some ideas to consider and I haven't changed the arc in over a year since it won another competition so perhaps it is time to look into some refining.

Still I am wondering if things did not spawn right for you. Given the fact that half of your team was under level 50, and if you did spawn this at +2/x8 I am really finding it hard to believe that you had to run off solo to die in this one. Were there no bosses in the mobs? Did you have a kin with you? If so the tar patch and siphon speed shouldn't have been that big of a hinderance. I find with the level of buffs well built teams run with that a heavy amount of debuffing is a solid way to create some challenge to the mobs.Anyhow not trying to be argumentative but trying to understand how an arc that I have seen decimate fully IO'd/purpled, carefully selected teams the likes of a MoSTF run did not give you trouble but rather "annoy" you. I'm looking to improve it on my target audience, not necessarily for this competition.

Finally of course you are the final judge, it's your competition but reading some of your other reviews I don't understand the score of 0 in comparison. You've found similar things you did not like in others... I must have really rubbed you the wrong way. I am wondering if you had given it the entire arc to make a judgement if you would have scored differently.

I'd be happy to discuss it more in tells or PM's just wanted to post some sort of response so that others are not completely turned off to trying my arc. Again, thanks very much for playing my arc I really do appreciate the feedback and will be looking into some adjustments.
  3. I will put in a bid for my own task force, "Mantisman Task Force", arc #15819. This AE task force has previously won contests based on the difficulty, while maintaining a story line and the epic feeling of a task force. Of course I am partial, but still feel it's worth your time.

In the past I have actually held contests on my server to see if someone could put together a team for a "masters run" but to date no one has been able to. On a full 8 man team, with bosses spawning, it is a true, epic challenge. The final AV fights are worth it alone in my opinion. But enough of plugging my own arc... I do hope you, or anyone else that is interested in a challenge will try it. Unique maps, custom enemies and devastating AV's await!

    Can it be done?

AlienOne posted a link to my thread in the scrapper forums on the first page of this thread from a while back when I was actively working on this. You can read more there on the exact build and attack chain I was using. I was using Maruader and Bobcat primarily for attempts. Princess has the right idea, the information is very similar to what I posted previously.

This forum cracks me up though. Whenever we brought this up in the past the thread was quickly highjacked into "I love my khelds for the fun and endless good times, why should I solo an AV?" (insert multiple smilies here) "Now let's get back to discussing the best void hunter costumes!". Don't get me wrong, not criticizing anyone, I love my Khelds too. Which is exactly why I want to push the limits of them in every way I can. Most days you guys could care less about numbers which is exactly why I posted in the scrapper forums originally.

There is a general tone on the Kheld forum that seems to suggest min/maxer's are not welcome here. I'm not taking sides with anyone, but as a lurker I definitely feel that unless I post about "the bestest things about Khelds" my post with either get 300 views with no replies/help, or simply be highjacked by people.
  5. I couldn't agree more.

I don't post much, but lurk constantly and my WS is my "main" and favorite character to play. I've tried a number of different IO'd builds, looking at numbers until my eyes bleed and posted a few times on these forums. The end result? More people are more interested in discussing the "funniest things ever said to a kheldian" or "how do I make the best void hunter costume" than talking about specifics about builds or how to min/max a kheld. I'm not saying this type of discussion never happens but generally speaking this forums tends to be the happy land of "kheldians are perfect" just the way they are. (Not trying to insult anyone, just making an observation)
  6. I finally finished the last part of my triform warsahde build which is based mostly on large amounts of +recharge. I dropped plenty of inf into it, but it really is my favorite character to play so it's worth every bit to me.

Now I am looking to give my PB some love. I've had him at 50 for a long time (before my WS in fact) and I'd like to do something entirely different with him. I'm planning to use a human/dwarf build, playing in human mostly and using dwarf to offtank/tank when needed. In both builds I am wanting to maintain some team benefits with pulsar, ally heal, and leadership powers I'm looking at two options for him:

Build one focuses on melee/smash/lethal def with a nice amount of +dam and +HP also. Recharge is there, but mostly to keep essence boost up as much as possible.

Build two focuses on +regen and +HP. Some additional damage and recharge is there but not as much as in build one. In addition this build does not have pulsar or dwarf attacks slotted as much.

Curious as to everyones thoughts on these. Which one is more survivable? Single target damage seems good with either one and provides a nice change of pace from my warshade.

    Kheldian vs. AV

I posted a few weeks ago in the scrapper forum regarding the idea of Khelds soloing AV's. While it certainly is not easy, and yes, your build to do it will not be as useful outside of just working AV, I firmly believe it is possible without using temp powers or insps.

Nihilii had posted some great build ideas on that thread and I've been working on it ever since. I modified some of his build, merged it with mine and am fine tweaking. I'm using a fairly purple'd out warshade (the build needs a heavy amount of +recharge), hanging in human form with an attack chain of shadow blast, gravity well, shadow blast, essence drain. The dps of this chain is enough, not a huge amount over, but enough. The idea relies on bringing in extra mobs, but not summoning essences, so that they do not destroy the mobs you need for eclipse. Keeping eclipse and mire perma, you can slowly take the AV down. The build includes close to 300% regen, 20% melee def, and using the self heal allows you to survive the damage that comes through. My HP in the build is close to 1500 as well.

Is this the build I like to play with normally? Do I feel it's the "best use" of a warshade? Absolutely not, I prefer a tri-form AOE destruction machine. But, I love my WS and thought it would be a fun challenge to see if I could accomplish this. My most recent attempts validate that this is possible as I've gotten Bobcat to about 60% health on both. It's easier to damage her due to a weakness to neg energy damage, but she hits harder than other AVs, such as Marauder. I tried Nightstar the other day, but was unable to make sufficient progress on her health, however she couldn't touch me so I had plenty of time to keep trying.

I don't post often, but I lurk constantly. I would consider my WS my main so I will keep trying at this. If I succeed I will post a screenshot (if I can figure out how to do that), otherwise no, I don't have any screenshots of my current progress.
  8. Actually, the other thing that made a difference in knocking health off Bobcat would have been having 2 pets out starting the fight. Once they expired I made far less progress. I'm sure that additional dps and the -20% negative is what allowed my limited success in dwarf.

Thanks for running the numbers. I'm going to look more into what you came up with, perhaps with some modifications. I'd like to have a viable build for general play as much as possible, while maintaing enough of a chance at this still. I'll fiddle in mids some more, probably respec over the next few days and start some attempts in human form.

I'm still relatively new at this, but I guess that Bobcat is middle of the road for difficulty (the -res maybe a different case for a WS) but is there another AV that would be a better one to start off on for me? I've tried Chimera but the hold is killer if I am gonig to run in human form.
  9. Thank you very much for the replies everyone. Yes, I know this is the scrapper forums, I came here because of the large base of posters soloing AV's and felt I'd get the best advice here.

Nihilii- Your build looks good to me. I agree that the best single target dps is going to be human form, my concern has always been surviving long enough in that form. I played around with your build a bit, lost a bit of recharge but got melee def up to 23% with the pvp IO. With human shields running and using essence drain as part of the attack chain, do you think it's survivable?

I give Bobcat a shot yesterday. I'm mostly trying these in AE but using a short mission and swapping out the AV I want to try out. Is this an accepted method for legitamately soloing one? In either case, I am still using my triform build (the first one I posted) and managed to get her down to 2/3rd before she got some big hits on me while shifting out of dwarf. It seems slow, but from what I am seeing I could do enough dps in dwarf to do this... any chance you could run the numbers on dwarf for me?
  10. Hi folks,

I'm looking for some advice and help. I'd like to try my hand at AV soloing, but have a unique challenge... I want to do it with one of my kheldians. I know, please don't laugh. I have both a warshade and peacebringer at 50, the WS has a pretty good build already, but I am not sure if it's what I need for trying an AV.

My current build uses all three forms, focuses heavily on recharge and damage. For survivability I have used dwarf form. I can make progress on the AV, the problem is that once my pets expire I do not do enough dps. Here is my current build:

I have considered switching to a human/dwarf build. I'm not sure if I added the pvp -res proc in dwarf mire if that would make up enough dps though. I can double stack the mire. Here is a possible build:

Obviously the challenge with the shade is that for the most part they are aoe monsters that need lots of mobs and dead bodies to shine.

I haven't done an IO build for my peacebringer yet, but I considered trying something like this on him. He might have more success being less dependant on mobs for his buffs.

I guess what I really trying to determine is whether it is even possible. I don't mind a challenge, and I really enjoy my khelds, so if I can somehow figure out a way to do this, I'd like to. Specficially I need help with the builds and the following:

    - is the dps enough? if so, what would be my optimal attack chain?
    - survivability... stay in dwarf or try to build for ranged def in nova form?

I suppose if it's not possible then all of my other questions are pointless anyway. Thank you for all your help in advance. Any advice or suggestions are very much appreciated!
  11. Probably an odd question for you scrapper forum folks, as they would seem to function differently. I'm looking for some advice on a new character concept and both options would work for the ideas I have in mind. I'm mostly a defender/controller player but recently got both a scrapper and tanker to 50 and am looking for some more melee fun. I am leaning toward the Spines/dark if I can make it work as my 50 scrapper is a claws/WP and would like to try some new sets. I'm concerned about a few things with dark, pardon my noobness if these are silly issues:

    1. End consumption: I'm not afraid to spend the inf on expensive builds to make it work but even in mids I can't seem to find a way to make a build that doesn't kill my blue bar. I am taking tough/weave/combat jumping when planning in mids, partly for my second reason listed here, but my end consumption is almost always over 2/eps with all the toggles running.

    2. Survivability: I'm not looking to solo AV's (although I do love a challenge) but how does dark fair? With my tanker I just finished an IO build (shield/SS) and feel pretty unstoppable when I play him. Similarly on my claws/WP I don't fear wading into the thick of large mobs. Some friends and I often run TFs full speed ahead, tearing through large mobs. I'd like to keep pace with the WP/SS tanker he is running if I can.

So for those of you with experience on these two builds, please let me know your thoughts. If possible, I'd love some build suggestions for spines/dark. (I feel pretty good about what I am coming up with for Spines/WP). Thanks much folks!
  12. Just looked again over everything, don't think so unless I am still missing it somehow. Oh well, if anyone happens to locate it please post or send me a PM. Thanks!
  13. I understand people feel this map is way overused. However it works perfect for the last mission of my arc #15819, and after the patch seems to have disappeared. Did it just get moved to another category and I am missing it, or is this a new bug?

I have unlocked all content for MA so I should have it somewhere...

Sorry but he posted this in his mission thread that I searched out because I was sort of interested in seeing this glorious arc:

    Shameless bump...

Lots of very positive feedback on this arc so far. Had all 5 star ratings until someone decided to grief me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, whatever. People like this are the reason I don't leave comments with low scores. I don't really want you up in my grill playing twenty questions about why I gave you the score I did. Four stars is a solid average and even ignoring the overwhelming bias of running people through your own mission, there's always going to be people that legitimately don't like whatever you do. Use any work of creativity ever made as a testament to that fact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suppose this is why I have played this game for over 3 years, but rarely post on the forums. No matter how carefully you word something, there is someone out there that is interested in digging up whatever they can to attempt to discredit you. For this particular quote though you really should include my whole post so that the context could be seen. I mention that I am specifically looking for feedback from 8 man teams. Maybe my perception of the situation was wrong? Sure, looking back and reading some of the other suggestions from folks I had not considered everything. Did you consider this might have been why I posted? That I was just simply asking a question as to what I perceived to be a problem?

Perhaps that wasn't clear in my original post, and obviously after having my entire post picked apart by our panel of experts and analyzed as if I were a politician, I made a poor choice in the word "griefing". Even though my original post clearly stated "begin to wonder if you are being griefed", it's now very clear that I am just insecure and can't handle a bad rating for my arc.

Seriously people, it was an honest question about how people come along and 1 star someone without feedback. Did you ever think that instead of arrogance, I really am interested in creating better arc, and that I want the feedback? Give me the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming I am some egotistical poster who can't handle getting a 1 star rating. I'm not going to grill you with 20 questions about why you didn't like my arc, but I am going to ask you what I can do to improve. It's my understanding that this was one of the primary focuses of the rating system.

As a teacher I encourage and teach my students to develop their own opinions. But I also require them to back them up. "You suck", is not a valid support. All that my post was intended to do was to get people thinking about ways to deal with someone who takes the time to rate the arc, but cannot type a sentence what they did or did not like about it.

Happened on test and it's happening on live. Getting your arc noticed is turning into pvp for some people. Finished running my arc on an 8 man team on invincible, I've received nothing but absolutely great feedback. My arc goes up to the front page with a large number of five star ratings. Someone else runs it, leaves no feedback but has to really hate it as my overall rating goes down to four stars. Another group of people run it, all give feedback loving it, more five stars and I'm back on the front page. Log off to eat dinner, come back and one person has left no feedback but given it a bad rating to drop it to four stars again.

Now, I know not everyone will like your arc. But at some point you begin to wonder if you are being griefed. I guess there is no way to fix this though. If they made it so you could only rate an arc if you finished it a lot of stuff that is bugged and needs a bad rating would never get one.

Just thinking out loud but is there no way to address this sort of behavior?
