Quote:Well, I can point you to several other offers from this game that stated they were "exclusive" that were later offered in another way:Actually the devs promise about the CoV:CE items was made after the prestige sprints were announced as vet rewards, which was long after NCSoft bought the franchise. And at that time they also stated that none of the pre-order bonuses (CoH or CoV) were every stated as being exclusive.
- Wisps Aura
- GR-Pre Order Bonuses.
- Prestige Sprints
- CoV helmets
- Good Vs Evil at Wal-Mart (that was a marketing blunder.)
Also, please provide a direct quote or provide any reference to said claim. I think you might have subtly altered what they did say because you are trying to remember something from 5 years ago. Fun fact: people do not remember details all that well, and that is why witness testimony isn't always accurate.
1) That is bad for business.Quote:Now there's not really much that I, or anyone else outside for Paragon Studios, can do if they really want to put the Collectors Edition stuff in the Paragon Marketplace. I would just be very disappointed that they went back on their word about that stuff being exclusive to limited editions of the game.
2) Exclusive has been used for every other special of this type, so it is glaringly bad that the 2 collector's edition in-game goodies are not available in some manner.
3) They never said exclusive forever.
Edit:
4) 6 years in the Software industry equates to a lifetime. The any promises of exclusiveness of the early DVD editions has outlived the term's lifetime. -
I just fixed it.

Those bonus items should have been made available a LONG time ago.Quote:But remember there was a time long ago when the Devs made a "promise" there would never be a way to get the preorder Prestige Sprints, CoV Helmets and so on either. Frankly (as Snow Globe has implied) I'd consider it shortsighted to think they might choose to leave ANYTHING off the Paragon Market table. *shrugs* -
Quote:Actually it was CoH DVD, and even that wasn't quite true. They never said that it "would never be available any other way". What Positron said was that they would not give away anything that players spent money on.The devs stated that the bonus stuff from the CoV Collectors Edition would only be available if you purchased that particular edition of the game. It would never be available any other way.
Note that this was before NCsoft bought out Cryptic (the maker's of that promise), and that Positron is not in charge of Marketing. He is also not the Producer of the game. Paragon Studios is (subject to NCsoft's whim) in charge now, the exclusive period is over for every other DVD/Collector's bonus (even the EB GR-preorder enhancements are going to be available), so it is high time the CoH (VIP badge, Cape of the Four Winds, Prestige Power Slide) and CoV (Arachnos Chest Symbol and Cape) bonus items be made available.
And I can say that with impunity, as I have them both. -
Quote:Any account under 3 months of active time (F2P and Premiums) will have tier 1.If I were to purchase another copy of CoX today, and F2P were to go live in (guessing) October, how far along would my second account be in terms of veteran rewards / paragon points?
If your 2nd account has 3 months play time when Issue 21 is released will complete tier 2. After release, a premium account with 1 months subscription will complete tier 2. -
Quote:I'm going to guess that the wisps aura might make an appearance in the Tier 9 VIP options at a later date.I know things that used to be "exclusive enticements" (such as the preorder sprints and helmets) have since become available in other ways. But the Devs never made a big deal about stressing their exclusivity right before they made them un-exclusive. The whole idea that the Devs seem to be spinning this thing as the "last chance" to get this aura seems very weird and misguided somehow. They'd be better off not hyping the aura at this point at all and just let it become unceremoniously available with Paragon Points at a later date. *shrugs*
I'm suspecting the same -might- happen with the CoH and CoV DVD bonus items as well. -
Quote:Yeah, I'm guessing that I'm on either the "not this time" or "not until later" list for Issue 21 beta. They try to cycle the list of who is in each beta, so you can be in everyone and then suddenly in none or not until the last couple of waves for several beta's. Basically its if Zwillinger hits your name on the list with the dart from across the room or not. ::shrug::
Thats it, I was in the 1st wave of the 1st 4 betas and since then have been in the last couple of waves and not in one. Others report similar situations. Basically they try not to have the same people in the full beta time after time after time. -
Quote:Actually that bug (and I fully consider it a bug) has been going on since at least Issue 18, if not earlier. Any account-wide badge that awards on log in fails to produce a "badge earned" splash on an existing character (new characters get the splashes, if I remember correctly). The lack of a "badge earned" splash for the last couple of Vet badges may be related to the Devs basically forgetting to mention that they slipped in the "name color change" feature as part of the last Vet award.
Other examples:
Defender of Primal Earth
The Constant
I suspect the following are likewise affected:
VIP/Destined One/Praetoria's Son & Daughter
Pocket D VIP Gold Member.
Vigilant/Determined/True to the Last -
Quote:That isn't, and should NEVER be the answer. Any developer(s) that think it IS the answer should be FIRED.For badges like these; I think the free server transfer when i21/freedom launches will be a good thing. Us badgers could transfer to a specific server (VIP one?), get the badges, then go home.

Edit:
As I said above, it is not just about the badges, though that is bad enough. It is also about the deterministic method for getting Incarnate Components, if the badges are too hard to get, then the deterministic way to get around the random reward table might as well not exist. -

Quote:You can access the aura in the tailors. You might need to be level 30 to unlock and use it though. So, how do we claim the aura? I've also got a jetpack I'm supposed to get, and I don't know how to claim that either....

As to the jetpack, click on "powers" on your powers tray, scroll down until you see the jetpack, and either click on it to add to a tray, or drag it to a tray.
Welcome to the forums. -

It didn't. I personally crashed with a memory error after 4 trials, followed by 1 trial. I know several other players that had the memory crash over the weekend.
-
Apparently I got your lag last night then. Several times my Judgement power displayed as ready only to grey out because the server disagreed.
-
Quote:After running my own leagues for these badges this last weekend (and for the foreseeable future), I can't get a consistent group to fill a 12 player league. I'm talking planned in advanced, invites to players I know.Sorry to say this Snow, but I think most of your problems come from playing on Triumph. It sounds that you don't have a large core of good players to help you.
What that means is that I'm forced to take fillers. At which point I'm guessing as to the quality of players invited.
If a server like Triumph can't support these badge runs, isn't that a blazing clue that the requirements are too high?
That said, I'm going to keep at it until I get the badges, but I don't hold out any hope of getting them on other characters, and that makes the promised bonus uncommons & rare for getting the badges on this trial a lie for most characters. -

Quote:Question: Do you have to play through Steam?Yes, there's nothing more I enjoy than downloading circa 4Gb, followed by all the patches that have been released in the last month or so, in the hope that it may or may not fix something that I shouldn't have to fix in the first place.
It was bad enough that the update to the Steam version of CoX when they were doing the sale last month forced me to re-download the whole client and repatch for precisely zero benefit, so I'll be damned if I'm doing it again.
If not, there is a solution I can recommend.
First, make a back up of your City of Heroes directory. It doesn't matter if you are using a DVD burner, USB thumb drive, or a temp directory on your hard drive.
Then, download the NCsoft Launcher.
Start the NCsoft Launcher. If it asks you to install City of Heroes, let it start. Make note of the install directory.
Next, stop the NCsoft Launcher. Take your backup, and copy it back to the directory that NCsoft was installing to. Delete the checksum files (.checksum or .chksum).
Finally, start the NCsoft Launcher again. Right click on City of Heroes, select "Repair (Consistency Check)". It shouldn't actually download 4 GB of files. Let it verify the files. -
Quote:Actually, I seem to recall that War Witch and Positron are nearly the same rank, just different teams. War Witch is/was in charge of overall Concept/Story, and Positron is in charge of End Game stuff.Actually, I think he IS Lead Developer again, with War Witch being the "Strike Team Leader," according to the Prezi online presentation they uploaded for us earlier this week.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...33#post3765633
(Well, he's "Lead Designer," anyway, which means he's at the top of the chain for concept creation.) -
Quote:Actually, "/ignore <character or global name>" globally ignores the player in question and provides a system message with their global name. You don't need to note them first. After adding the player note, a simple /gignore <character name> will ignore ALL of their characters and give you their global name at the same time.
/gignore $target will do the same if you still have them targeted from adding the player note.
Edit:
I was just listing the ways you can find someone's global name.

St. Martial (near the black market) and Cap Au Diable (by the north ferry) as well.

Quote:From everything I've seen (UStreams, SDCC presentation) and read, Tier 9 and Tier 9 VIP are the same thing. The only difference is that VIPs (subscribers) can choose the Tier 9 VIP awards.I'm still surprised more people are not concerned that all of the non-VIP tier 9 rewards can only be taken on one character (although you could take it multiple times on the same character). Then again, I guess that only affects Premium players as VIPs would just choose from the VIP Tier 9 list.
I guess the true reward for Tier 9 VIP players is playing the game for free, which is a pretty huge reward really.
VIP players are paying subscribers, not playing for free. Premium players aren't paying the monthly fee.
As to the one-shot nature of the non-vip tier 9 rewards, I'm guessing they'll be in the 800-1,200 Paragon Points range from the market, which is nothing to gripe about. -
Okay, let me get this straight in my head... You don't believe forum posters with reputations that they can be trusted to provide accurate information. The same posters backing up their statements with multiple official references. Yet you expect people to listen to you? The amount of chutzpah (and not in a good way) in your post is astounding.

Quote:No, you are asking if Positron, Zwillinger, Second Measure (among other Paragon Studios employees are insane.Except I'm not asking whether or not they'll have to be purchased in the Paragon Store; I already know that, as I've already read that thread in its entirety, and watched all of the UStreams.
The reason no one is answering that question is that it is so far off the mark it would hit another galaxy instead of something on Earth. You've made up your mind that something the developers have said (without any reference, btw) means something that absolutely no one else has.Quote:The point which HASN'T been clarified - by anyone affiliated with NCsoft or Paragon Studios - is whether or not they will only be purchasable by those who have unlocked T9 rewards, which would essentially mean that a new subscriber would have to pay $500+ in order to gain access to the powersets.
We have been told that Street Justice and Beam Weapons will be able to be purchased by anyone. There wasn't any mention at all that you had to have Tier 9 to purchase them.
Any future power sets are not ready and aren't being discussed yet, but I think I can safely say that the possibility that you'll have to have Tier 9 to purchase ANYTHING from the Paragon Market will never happen and thinking it will be is the following:

Paragon Studios has been adamant about the following fact: The Paragon Rewards Program does not affect the Paragon Market.
So please provide ANY proof that anyone from Paragon Studios has said you'll have to be Tier 9 to purchase ANYTHING from the Paragon Market.
I'm thinking that the only one that seems to be confused is you. -
Quote:Actually that is already easy to do.Wait, so random people can figure out my global name without being on my global friends list?
- Right click & add player note.
- /playernote <character name>
- Left click on their chat and ignore them.
- /ignore <character name>
- /getglobalname <character name>
As to the original suggestion, sure as long as I can control it.
Edit:
With the list above, I was just listing the ways a player can find someone's global name. You don't need to do them all.
-
Quote:Look, no one can stop you from believing stuff that isn't true. However, I really suggest that you look to the SDCC presentation and the full video at Gamespot. So, 5 rednames, plus 1 Senior VP of Business & Brand.Well I asked - TWICE - about whether or not the new powersets (excluding time manipulation) would be restricted to those with T9 only, and no answer, so that pretty much confirms it as far as I'm concerned.
Very disappointing.
Those powersets are a premium purchase for all subscribers. They are NOT a part of the Paragon Rewards system, which is why your question was ignored. -
