Comic!Luminary. That smile, that sheen, those eyes.
Seen here with DJ Zero (No text in the balloons due to being formerly used for a caption):
Also, IVy is a good choice too. Tough decision.
Hey, I can't help liking the robots. -
Going Rogue's Siege. Definitely Siege. Strong and Pretty! This guy's got the raw power, the sleek finish, and with his advanced power system he can go all night. Sure there's more humanoid robots out there, but he's packing the old school charm of B-Movie robots with that Praetorian-chic modern packaging. Tank and spank, baby. Tank and spank.

What?
That's just... no... this can't be...
Who else on the Paragon Studios team can profess their love for the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast?!
Don't go Beastyle! Think about what Segata Sanshiro would do!
...
...
Okay, maybe not. You'll be missed though. :<

I once tried to play CoH with a 360 controller.
It was painful.
The game was designed with keyboard and mouse in mind, and then you need to work out if the cost of investing resources/cash for the port is worth the pay off.
And I just don't think it would be. Then you have to consider the Vita's hardware and storage limitations. -
Quote:Could you go back to using Bump maps? 'ever so slightly' tends to mean 'will not mesh with any other metallic costume due to colours looking wan and sickly' which makes it annoying to use any of the new stuff with any of the old stuff.
Nalrok_AthZim: I think now that we are using Normal Maps it changes the look ever so slightly, that may have something to do with it as we used to use plain old Bump maps.
I preferred the metal we had with things like Tech Sleek and Valkyrie.
There's sets where I'd love to use bits like the Celestial armour, but it just looks -really- out of place for no discernible (to my eye anyway) benefit.
Thanks for the answers though. Much appreciated. -
Memories of Omega Sektor:
The pre-meet up in the Square Peg (Damn did I love that pub)
Stacks of free pizza being brought in
Kerensky with a concussion
Sleep deprivation
Traumatized security guards
Several anxiety attacks
I think on early Sunday morning with no sleep I wound up rabbiting to Kall before heading off in a daze to be delivered to a friend's house, where I slept off the lack of sleep, had more pizza, and wound up heading home on Easter Monday.
Oh, we got NCSoft Backpacks. Mine was red and I still have it, though it's a little battered now. -
Funny you should mention rest and recharge, that was one of the better things that I found when playing an MMO released close to Christmas time.
Especially on Endurance heavy early level powersets like Titan Weapons. -
With me I find powersets and costume bundles are usually the main things I purchase. Each Powerset usually brings a new character idea with it, and costume bundles can be used to revamp character's outfits.
The main account upgrade I bought was the 5 extra costume slots. While the storage is tempting, even global as it is, I still find the price a bit too much to stomach setting down for, especially when I have access to /vault and /ah.
The thing I've never gotten is IO packs.
For one, they're too expensive for my liking. Basilisk's Gaze for example is 853 Paragon Points.
That's two costume bundles or one power set for something that can only be slotted on one character.
And in those sets where I might only need 5 of 6 enhancements (Like Crushing Blow, I tend to leave the Acc/Dam out of my builds as I'm mostly slotting for the recharge) I'm either left having to get each individual one or buying the set if the discount works out in favour and dumping the one I don't need.
Amusingly, if the IO's were much cheaper I'd have likely bought more points than I have at their current price. -
(Ho! as in the jubilant cry. Not the other meaning.)
-
A thing that I would love, seeing as I have several characters with just one eye, is individual eye aura powers (Say Wisps Left Eye Aura, Wisps Eye Aura, Wisps Right Eye Aura).
Otherwise the auras tend to show through eyepatches, and the only ones we have that can do individual eyes are the Cyborg Targeting laser eyes, which don't really fit a necromancer or an empowered ex-IDF soldier.
-
Elemental (and not locked behind the Incarnate system please *grumbles about the stone and ice block change) costume changes, like a proper fire one, electricity (We have the lightning one, I was more thinking like a bunch of arcs surging from feet to head before a small burst, revealing the new costume), dark (maybe sinking into a patch of shadows if possible, kind of a reverse ninja leap change) and so on.
-
A tech-circuit version of the Victorian aura.
-
Higher quality runes on the Rune aura, they're kind of blurry and indistinct, an option to get more defined ones like the Demon Summoning ones would be nice. -
Firstly, I'd like to see new APP's to fill in the thematic/synergy gaps we have, for example:
Electric Mastery for Scrappers and Tankers and so on
Fire Mastery for Defenders
Kinetic Mastery for Brutes, Tankers, Stalkers and Scrappers
So on and so forth.
Secondly I'd like to see new Primaries/Secondaries to fill in the thematic/synergy gaps:
Ice Melee/Armour for Scrappers
Ice Melee for Stalkers
Electric and Earth Buff/Debuff sets for Controllers/Defenders/Corruptors
Earth Blast for Defenders/Controllers/Corruptors/Blasters
Sonic and Radiation Manipulation for Blasters
And then more character slots per server as I only have 5 left on my one and only server of choice. -
Females... Baron Jacket... females... baron jacket.... feMaLes... B-bARo-n-n-n JaCkeT-Et-ET-eT-t...

Wait, where was I? Ah, yes! That is most excellent news. Not only have the Gunslinger changes meant I shall be picking the pack up, but now Special Operations Unit N can finally be all dressed in similar uniforms! Hochstapler, Gail's Force and Chromagia no longer must lack the distinctive, Military Overcoat stylings of the Baron Jacket.
In summary then:

Quote:The lore of the game is subject to change, intentional retcon or simply an accident on the part of a writer, and that includes that you have taken for yourself. What happens when the writers flesh out Circle of Thorn lore and completely and utterly invalidate almost everything you have ever done about your character?
If you do have to constantly adjust and update your lore based character then you likely didnt do strong enough research in the first place to properly take on the role.
Maybe you'll accuse the mission writer of being jealous of your character to the extent they try to pull the rug out from under you. That's the way delusions usually justify themselves to their afflicted. Never their fault, always someone else. 'Haters' and 'WoWtards' and whatever else can be painted as the problem.
Also, just to comment:
Quote:Personally I am glad the last remnants of jack are being expunged from the game, and I truly hope someday all the dev based icons will be removed leaving the world more open to new heroes every day. -
The opening poster does not represent roleplayers as a whole, the roleplayers on Virtue. They represent themself, and comes across as someone who I would neither wish to know or roleplay with.
Their lore is laughable, their characters clichéd and more likely to be the product of a teenager's power trip experience into Dungeons and Dragons, and their attitude repugnant.
They may compare themselves to Shakespearean actors, but those actors worked and trained hard for the renown they rightly receive as actors. The opening poster has judged themselves worthier than all roleplayers and seek to decry those who would protest their grandstanding and inserting their characters into major lore events as terrible and 'haters'.
I pity them for their delusions. -
Quote:Kind of like the... Issue 13 faces compared to the uncanny valley Normal-Mapped Steampunk faces? I love the issue 13 faces. I can't stand the normal-mapped ones.Sorry for the double post. Eva Destruction (punny name thar) does have a point, in that sometimes I think you should employ stylized realism for the sake of consistency with the rest of your models. But I just want to say, "stylized" does not mean quite the same thing as exaggeration in the way I'm using it, which is what turns me off about certain other super hero games (Saturday morning cartoon exaggeration). A lot of City of Heroes is stylized realism, and it looks awesome to my eyes. I'm not sure if reading that will make a lot of sense, but I do think Noble Savage could read this and know what I'm getting at.
-
Yes, they age according to the passage of real world time and events in game.
Cindersnap's grown from being a teenager just starting out as a hero to a 21 year old leading a teaching team of younger heroes. Zortel, my main, has reached her big Four-Oh and dealt with retiring from hero life to raise her kids, forming a super group to assist other heroes when they were a bit older, and returning to heroing when needs be.
Births, deaths, marriages, break ups, birthdays, Christmases (Hanukkahs in the case of Twilight's Flame and Madame Midknight), moving, leaving, changes, new cars, new powers, new responsibilities. All these and more happen with my characters in the years I've played them, and will continue to.
I was never a fan of the static status quo and comic book timelines. CoH and RP on Union offers freedom from that. -
Quote:and some get them for the weapon skin that comes w/ defeating x amount of a certain group. .
You misread, I was stating reasons why people get the Defeat Badges that don't have a weapon customization reward with it.
As in: These badges don't reward various weapons, but here's why people might get them in spite of that. -
Quote:Firstly, thanks for that little joking dig at the top. I didn't realise that the Roman weapons and shields that aren't Romulus' aren't awarded with ITF completion, and I went and owned up to that and apologised.Don't confuse these guys with facts. Facts have no place in nerd rage posts. So we are supposed to ignore the following facts.
~
Fact: The Roman swords and axes that are being complained about were never unlocked by completing the ITF. They are unlocked by completing the Centurion badge which can be completed without ever running an ITF.
Fact: The shields in the Roman pack are also unlocked by earning the Centurion badge, but if the devs included the Swords and axes there would be no reward left for earning the badge.
But, I disagree with you saying there is no reward left for earning the badge.
There is. The badge.
There are lots of defeat badges that don't reward anything. Some people get them because they like the title, some because they're badgers, some just because they happen to defeat enough of X to be entitled to it.
If someone wants the Roman weapons from start enough to buy the pack if they were included, they'll buy the pack. If they didn't feel that strongly about them but wanted them on one or two characters, they'd go and earn the badge. For those that like to have as many costume options as open possible, they'd buy the pack. For those that don't mind? They won't.
That's why in the past I've said about having the Invention Wings and Boots for sale, so that when making a character if I find a combination works, I can get it from the get go and be happy. Otherwise I'm having to look up what the other wings look like, or the boots, and try and cobble imagination and what's on the screen together to see if its worth transfering the inf over to a new character to go to the market, buy the salvage and the recipe, assemble it, then head to a tailor to try it on and hope it's okay.
My preference is include the Centurion stuff and not the Romulus Shield/sword if something has to be excluded. -
Probably a bit late to the party, but I'll apologise for earlier comments. In that I don't actually do the ITF or any of the content in the zone that much, I had thought the Centurion Swords and Axes were awarded with completion of the ITF, not with defeating 100 Traitors.
So yeah, that was my bad there. But I'd rather have no Romulus Shield/Sword and have access to the Centurion weapons and Shields, rather than the odd thing we have at the moment where we have access to the Centurion Shields and Romulus Shield, but not the Romulus Sword and Centurion Weapons.
As per the excellent post several above, it doesn't make much sense. -

Quote:I've been considering subbing for a month when i22 comes. Decisions like this make me think I might be best off saving that £8.99, as why reward stupidity?I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Sam, but the Roman pack (inexplicably) doesn't contain the Roman weapons, other than the bow. :/
Include the damn weapons, don't scrimp over stuff like this and earn yourself some respect and points/pounds spent.
Wondering just how Paragon Studios can keep making silly, petty decisions,
Zortel. -
Quote:I use Conga Rats, Tango Mice and Other Celebratory Rodents.I rarely ever say "gratz" - and if I do, it was a typo. I may say "grats" occasionally, but the most common is "congo rats". Since I don't actually create a bind to do it because I like varying it, I don't do it in some in-game situations and I certainly don't do it when I don't notice someone level.
You can add even more in. Waltzing Hamsters, Charleston Gerbils and more. -
-
See you, Space Cowboy. o/
I get what you mean, I dropped to Premium myself and am not planning on spending any money on the game for a long while. I've lost faith and confidence in Paragon Studios to justify 8.99 on my secondary account, and today saw a dip that took my primary account offline.
Good luck with Uni and with real life, see you around in Premiumosity, perhaps.

Quote:Hi Zwillinger, thank you for the response. We've been closely following your feedback regarding this topic, both here and on the Beta forums. Unfortunately Cheryl, the artist who worked primarily on the Gunslinger Character Modelling, has been extremely pressed for time creating new costume sets and as such hasn't been able to post directly on the beta feedback thread. That being said, the feedback and concerns expressed have been communicated to the art and production team.
To address a few points
We've been trying to add unique and different costume pieces for female options for the sake of overall variety, however I understand some of the concerns being expressed here, as does the rest of the Art and Production team. Moving forward, where possible, we will be making more gender neutral/male pieces created for females so as to more accurately reflect the Communities requests. Because each costume piece has to be individually created (we can't CTRL+C, CTRL+V the pieces from male to female unfortunately ), this does mean that we will be offering less overall unique options, however we feel it's important to address this concern.
If anyone took offense to our artistic choices, I apologize. It's not our intent to offend anyone.
Regarding the pretinting of costume pieces: While pretinted pieces give the artists the ability to provide some very unique materials and add more visual interest to select pieces, we dont want to limit your creativity, either. Moving forward, we'll be offering both a pretinted and untinted option for all pieces which we choose to make pretinted.
Thanks
-Z
Sadly though, it comes too little, too late for me. Because this conversation has been had before in the past, about disparity, nonsensical choices in costume pieces restricted by gender, pre-tinting and jackets.
Back then we got told 'We're taking your feedback into account' and then... same old decisions and then some.
I cannot conceive the kind of thought process that went into a gunslinger pack without giving everyone the option to be a gunslinger. If Paragon Studio's art team wanted to do a saloon set, there's perfectly good saloon keepers that could have been the option for male/huge characters, rather than LA's Bordello Burlesque troop does Wild Wild West being given in place of a female gunslinger like those famous ladies of old in the dime novels.
I'm coming up for seven years playing this game, and as I mentioned, a lot of old mistakes keep coming up. Prior statements ignored. Blatant lies told.
Super Booster II - Magic was released in April 2009, and back then people were clamouring for the Baron jacket for female characters. Females also didn't get the awesome Skull Mask Detail 1.
There's still a lack of shoulder animals for females. Cigars are still men and huge only unless you pay money for the gunslinger cigarillo.
New Dance Emotes coming with Going Rogue. They instead wound up in the Party Pack which worked out as a dollar an emote.
A dear friend of mine was sceptical of CoH going Freemium. At the time, I was saying 'Oh, that won't happen' and 'I'm sure they're not that silly.'
It looks like he gets to say 'I told you so'. I've had more issues with the game since September than before hand.
There's plenty I want to say but have trouble wording it. And I know that this post is likely going to be deleted anyway. But sometimes it just feels good to get it out there.
I'm done with paying for the game. I'll likely pop in to take advantage of it being F2P. Small RP-SG I've got a nice little character in to keep up with. I've got Paragon Points banked up enough to get anything I might feel like, they were purchased at the start of Freedom. There'll be things I miss like my 44 character slots on Union, being cut down once the VIP ones go, and losing out on the loyalty badge and costume stuff, but I can no longer justify to myself paying with the hope that 'they'll mean it this time, they'll listen.'
My £8.99 shall go to building up my collection of classic albums in the myriad areas of grunge, rock and metal. Maybe I'll come back to be a VIP in the future, but for now...
Adios, VIP-dom. At the end, I wasn't feeling very important at all.
