My initial irrational internal reaction: I would have rage-quit like a Del Monte nooblet. But that brings us to lesson 567 about this game, any game, and life...

    - don't rage-quit right away, things change
    - don't rage-quit over changes you don't like, eventually it changes again
    - don't rage-quit without leaving us your stuff

Reading her post makes me think of the "Behind the Music" television show. Everyone with toggles can thank Ellis now.

    Thank you, Ellis!
  2. Welcome back, Jadster. So many things have come in your absence that a month won't do to catch up. Resub for six and I'll let you have Turkey Lurkey's leg on Thanksgiving. :P

Better or worse. Good question. Better, by far. It's what you make of what you have. I don't even mind that the devs have failed to make us a sparkly combat-ready pony all these years. <hint hint>

  3. I'm reading forums and standing around in game waiting on a new graphics card. Until I can steal someone's laptop, I'm pretending to taskforce in my head. About to costume my cat up as a new Praetorian AV. Will submit piccies if he holds still after.

    Welcome to the City, Dspektz.

Ok, I gotta ask... even if this posting account belonged to your friend before.. how did you manage 3 red jellybeans for post rep after 12 posts? I'm too lazy to read.

    New to Virtue

Welcome back to game, GammaRift. How long were you two gone exactly? Sometimes I meet folks who were on last before capes were around and my jaw drops. All I can say is "don't feed the catgirls" and stick around for Going Rogue! We'll all be fresh faced newbs together.

And here's a little welcome back present.. the holy ******* bible to all things City.. or at least an online copy: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page

Here's the down and dirty answer. It seems like you have a strong interest in PvP but there's so many groups that have different ideas about it - there's casual PvP'rs, RPvP'rs, daily PvP'rs, and trollerlishous PvP ( I come from the school of thought where all is fair in love and war but that's not for everyone), etc.

Best bet? Find an established, diverse playstyle (RP, PVE, PVP) group for your home base but also join global channel: VPvP. Maybe place one or two of your best builds in a smaller PvP-centric group like We PvP or W3 D0M1N4T3 PvP ( two recommendations from that channel. There's tons of pocket groups, just gotta ask those who PvP daily).

That way, you get the best of both worlds between PvE and folks who know their way around killing fields. Good luck.
  7. I'm suprised there aren't more SG's in the recruiting thread or Atlas considering just how many active groups I come across every day. Honestly, sometimes just playing helps. You run across so many folks, expose yourself to what you enjoy (raids, pvp, badging, etc) and you'll start to notice like-minded players from the same SG over and over. At least I do.

    Good luck to you.
  8. Introducing myself as a veteran player since there are threads for SG info, raids/events and player-created characters but not so much on players themselves. This is the other side of the individual "I'm new to Virtue" threads. Veterans can give an upfront introduction of themselves to shy or lurking newcomers and future Going Rogue subscribers. Alrights then, here's my geek status. I:
    - picked up this game at the end of June 2004 without any previous interest or experience in gaming. Basically that means I still know less than new folks about gaming but ... still trying as I'm a devoted fan and dabble in just about every aspect of gameplay.

    - speak badging and base-building fluently.

    - am on at completely random hours but will play (badge and farm seasonal items) ridiculous amounts of time during holiday events. Look me up every February, October and December.

-don't read forum email but can be found by private global messages (@Ara) or Skype (AngryAngelAra).

-just realized there's not much to say except I really love this ******* server and all the crazies in it... and will absolutely take your loot if you leave one day!
PvP, RP, raids, market runners, mission writers, farmers, badgers.. each playstyle is thriving on this server so I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have.

P.S. A vet is anyone over a few months who hasn't run away screaming, yeah?

Reading your post just gave me a flash-forward fantasy of the future. I'm such a geek, I'll probably have to take a sedative the day before the new expansion launches or I'll be bouncing off the wall in my bunny shorts.

    Darnit. I'm already excited.
  10. Dude, that costume is beautiful.

    Day Jobs

Reported but not fixed to my knowledge, parking in the University was awarding my new characters up to 4 badges. Trying to recall which ones...

Up to, because if they already possessed one then it didn't list that badge again.

    ....

Edit: Logged in a few low levels that were parked there. It's fixed. Still, good times.

Ah man... not this topic again. That being said, with one foot in badges and one spent with the pvp community.. I'm pretty sure it's a 30 second timer.
  13. *Master* of Barracuda also still works.. kinda. Ran it last night. Of those who didn't already have the badge, some received the badge - some didn't. Just a heads up for anyone who gets to the end and doesn't badge, I've never known any of our teammates not to get it if they send in support tickets.
  14. It's all about 'teh pink'. Happy birthday, beautiful. <3
  15. Is that duct tape holding where the arms joint? Duct tape -the ultimate power.
  16. It's me, not you... We'll still be friends. <cues break-up music>
  17. I'm no angel.. but I also don't start too many threads that will probably end in a flame war

OK... so I'll still offer advice since it's out there.

Ara's Practical Guide to PL boredom blues:

    - Don't PL.

    If you just gotta:

    - AE. Sure you'll be highlighted in one of those AE Baby videos but you'll have a 50 -and- famous!

    - Watch television during. You don't need to interact with other people when you can just jimmy up keywords in a House marathon as macros to run your fire imps.

    - Team with ********. The fastest PL'rs usuallly are. Ever notice that? (shout out to Z, B and L but not M.. he'd smack me back to level 1)

    - Pay a small child. Summer is coming up and American children tend to be spoiled and lazy. You'll be teaching them rudimentary economics early in life.

    - Post in forums for like-minded folks.. oh wait. D'oh.

Exactly, I just want to kick those ******* in the face. But, I'm doing my best to be positive and practical.

Ah man.. ******* positive and practical is no fun.
  19. Hide is a great feature. My guess is that they're contacting everyone grey (teamed) from /sea.

I imagine most folks who do that don't read forums and might not care if they did. In a way, they're using one of the tools provided them - just differently than you or I would.

What I'd like to see is more folks also pushing for QoL improvements to team searches like an overhaul to the existing /sea window. /Sea will tell me your origin but not your team size.. or, regardless of size, whether you're locked in a taskforce already. Making everything optional for view would be nice. I'd rather know you're a kinetic dingdong than a magic origins dingdong, if you're a team lead or just a flunky etc...

I'd love more thin, freeform tile floor options. Thin, with visible undersides, so you conserve vertical space and can form three (+) stories. Freeform, much like the current white 1/4 size tiles, so that you could adjust it to any height (... like adjustable shelving). Honestly, both the original poster's idea above -and- more tiles would be nice.

I'd photoshop an example but I'm far more the crayon and construction paper sort. The glitter sticks to the scanner and messes up other people's grown-up projects.

A few hours later.. done! I feel like Superhero Barbie now. 3 hours.. slow and steady on a hero-only team. Tomorrow, we'll do our best to attempt it on our villain badgers.
  23. I was serious when I posted in one of these threads earlier.. about getting my Wonder Woman panties on for the Master of Lady Grey. I even made the guys get a pair!

    - 1 tank, battle axe/invuln
    - 2 defenders, stormy & rad
    - 2 controllers, kin & earth/bubbler
    - 3 scrappers, all SR (broadsword, MA, and spines)

Best part: There was no agonizing draft pick. We just grabbed who was on at the moment and shared ideas as we went. Myriad is someone you always want on your team.

Worst part: The grind on the greens. Usually, most Master runs are plagued with nerves, those split second screamers when someone drops to one hitpoint. Not so much on this one.. we cautiously cleared damn near everything. This Master's biggest challenge was patience.

Unexpected: So. .. we knew going in that the green mitos, in their current condition, would be a *****. The bubbler was our VIP, she left zone to respec into group flight (note: this won't work on co-faction teams, as it would have auto -booted them) but... interesting side-note: clicking to leave the mission did not work, she had to Ouros portal out of the mission just to exit. Not sure if that is a bug or intentional?

And yes, we did pinch a few extra plus size inspirations for the last mission from bases but not many. They really were not needed. The EOE's on Hami were - I'm a scaredy cat.

    Good luck to you all.
