Quote:No one in this thread is making the case that 'decimate' can only mean 'reduce by one-tenth.' If that were the case you'd be right.Except in this case, it's exactly what's happening. The meaning has changed over time. The new one is nearly universally accepted at this point. Except by a rare few wannabe intellectual elitists that like to argue semantics to try to prove how much "smarter" they are than everyone else.
But that isn't the case. And so, you're wrong.
"Reduce greatly" is not the same as "completely eradicate."
Now, find us the citation that from a source that claims that 'decimate' is now in general use to mean "completely eradicate." -
What exactly are the huge profits a hacker is going to get from hacking CoH again?

The one-hour TF with Merits. The ability to jump onto the new-style TF (Katie, LGTF, ITF, etc...) that wasn't meant to go on for days (Synapse, Shard TFs) but could be done in an hour without the usual merry-go-round change of teammates that came from doing individual missions enabled me to have an enjoyable stress-free time playing that kept moving and was epic but not interminable. Then when the reward was switched from Crap of the Hunter drops to Merits which finally allowed access to the better IOs, then that brought about real advancement for my main toon. Fun times plus end game advancement.
That's why I like the Incarnate TFs and Trials which are the same deal but with more advanced end game advancement. -
Posi I is 15, Posi II is 16.
For powers when exemplaring, you get to keep them as if you were 5 levels higher. So, for Posi I, you should have access to powers up to level 20. -
Quote:Is it too high a level for you?Anyone heard of issues trying to slot Celerity +Stealth into Super Speed?
I have my PvP scrapper that I was slotting last night and it will not allow me to drop in the Celerity +Stealth in the slot. There are no other Stealth's slotted into the power. My other PvP toon it slotted just fine. -
Quote:It doesn't explain why Recluse is an AV in a TF that requires a team to bring him down (even after his 'Net' is turned off) and also an Elite Boss in an arc that can be solo'd.The thing is that doesn't explain the increasingly level shifted AVs in the trials,
The enemy has powers that can weaken you or level up themselves to make them a real threat. Classical comic book stuff which allows for new threats especially for heroes that get too powerful.
This is one huge non-issue, IMO. It's a manufactured crisis that ignores both comic book and CRPG conventions, both of which *requires* suspension of belief with regard to shifting power levels. Otherwise, Batman would never have made it to issue three past his first gunfight.
Kryptonite, red sun, magic, and psi all weaken Supes and people more or less accept that. But now there is a revolt that 6 psychics can weaken your own avatar?
A manufactured crisis. -

In some certain other MMO, I not only had to listen to some mission giver use 'decimate' to mean 'completely wipe out,' but I had to listen to them pronounce 'caches' as 'ca - SHAYZ.' <shudder>
You're gaining in cachet by comparison!

Here you go. No more revealing than the elf or what you can see in game and just as related to the Holiday Pack as the elf. Santa has a package for you...

from /cmdlist:

Quote:I know how it is with you and your 'elf parties'!!!!!!11!Shush boy, Shush your lips, do the Helen Keller and ..
Anyway.
It's cute, it's not really seductive in my eyes and the present is just plain adorable. I love the pose. It's a flirty innocent elf. You pervert. I think being a zombie might of dulled your eyes or has all that solitude from a wilting problem stirred up some deep rooted testosterone that you had once?
This coming from a woman, I see nothing provocative or wrong with that drawn picture.
Though I would rather she her running nude as well, but that's just me.
- This just in, my Hubby agrees -

So, what does T for Teen mean anyway?
There's this:
Wowsa. Look at all that leg showing!
But that's nothing compared to the drawn version:
From Paragon Studio's email advertising the Holiday Pack.
So, what's being sold in this pic? Look, just like the Give Gift emote, she's giving a present. Only thing is, she's presenting like a baboon in estrus. And she's offering a box. A box by her crotch. A crotch that seems to imply she's not wearing anything over her crotch. Did I mention a *box* by her *crotch*? You know that looks nothing like the Give Gift emote, right?
I expect such a graphic on the cover of Playboy. I've had a less revealing pic removed from the forums for not being "T for Teen."
There's enjoying the beauty of the human form (even if green) and then there's overt sexual pandering. This is the latter. I'd rather have seen this elf nude in just the gloves and boots frolicking in the snow and throwing a snowball then... *this* pose.
I mean, what was even the thought here: That you would get sales by sexualizing fur-lined clothing? Is there a big market for that fetish? "Oh, yeah, jus' like Mrs. Cluas, baby!"
And when you were selling the Gunslinger Pack, where was the drawing of the shirtless cowboy in what appeared to be assless chaps? Oh, that wouldn't have been appropriate? Hmmm....
Yeah, I know, this thread will be full of those saying, "The comic book industry panders to cheap sex all the time." My response, "Yes, but Paragon Studios doesn't have to also." -
Quote:Could be worse. Could be a pointed stick of mistletoe. Incarnates beware!"[Heroname], there's epic-level trouble brewing in Dark Astoria, and only heroes who have achieved nigh Godlike levels of power have the incredible might to withstand the unimaginably powerful forces that are stirring within that mysteriously now fog-free part of town can help! I suggest you bring a [small] team of other incarnates with you, and prepare yoursrlf for something truly worlds-shattering! Good luck, you titanic powerhouse of uber force, you!"

Quote:A MM with pets on aggressive is a better than a single AoE damage power. What I've learned from this thread:
Create multiple free accounts.. say 9 of 'em and 1 real account with IO market access.
Build the 9 so that they have a self-rez recharging at a good clip.
Join all 10 into Ouro arcs to block the auto-logoff.
Find your way off the map through a geometry hole.
Set the one to use an non-targeted AoE to attack the 9, all clumped around the one.
They die, they rez, repeat.
Go to bed. Wake up to find many/several pvp io recipes.
Sell them.
Profit.
That about sums this whole thing up?
It seems so easy.
I'd love to be the fly on the wall of Paragon Studios and see the Dev who finds 30 farms running underneath a PvP map.
The real solution (if you want the situation to be 'solved') is to have PvP zones turn off "no auto-log out" flags. -

Ah, but in the AE, you can put Immob-protection buffers in the same group as snipers and get mobile snipers!
-
ARGH!
Why is it people can focus on one power and how it can be used to grief and completely forget that just about every other power can be used to grief?
RPing in Pocket D and...
- A Mastermind comes in with their pets doing all sorts of zany emotes. So... remove Masterminds from the game!
- Someone plops themselves down rocking a loud and bright aura. So... remove Empathy and Thorns and Fire sets from the game!
- Someone hits you with a power and it breaks your emote. So... remove all buffs from the game!
- Someone responds to all your /local chat. So... remove chat from the game!

Quote:You're welcome. You can thank me by mailing me a +3% global defense.Ya know, screw it. I'll be proudly firing up my afk farmers today. I'm simply performing a service for the masses, right?
Granted, I'm a rank amateur compared to the serious afk'rs, but gimme a few days to register eight more accounts and level up a regen mule on each one.....
I have seen the light! Thank you all for your contributions. -
1. If you're losing Threat to a Brute or Scrapper... don't worry about it. They're a Brute or Scrapper and they'll deal with it. Worry about it if the Blaster is grabbing agro from you.
2. You don't have to "lock down agro" of 100% of a spawn. Just enough for the other teammates to survive. Nothing aggravates me more than a Tanker spamming Taunt when what's left is not really a threat to survival... how about just joining in the killing at that point, bub? It's like a 'healer' spamming heal when everyone is already healed up.
3. You 'steal' agro by having twice the Threat level as current top threat. So, it pays to go first forcing agro stealers to have to generate twice the Threat you do in order to steal.
4. Always try to combine Taunting powers with damage since they're multipliers of each other. Just doing one alone is a recipe for losing agro.
