  1. Ok so I decided to step away from this thread for a few days, my level of emotion was getting a bit high.

I would like to request that Sashes for Male and Huge models be moved to a priority position. It really has been a long requested item by many of us, and now one of the three models has it.

I only have four real requests. I realize two of them are pretty large projects, and while I would love to have them, I realize there is a large amount of work involved. I as I have said many times am willing to buy them as costume packs. If you need to be sure if others will also then I suggest running a poll to attempt to determine the value of these items to the community.

I will go in no particular order.

Sash: This is an item that has been requested by the whole of the community for over 6 years. Now a 3rd of the community has access to the item, and the other would really like to also have one. I understand Dink that you may not be the person to make the decision, but I do hope whoever is in charge sees this, is reading this thread, and takes note that more people than just I repeat this request.

If they really want to be industrious, they can go back and look in Jay and David's threads and see the same request being made there. As I said before this is not a new request. I am sure many of us would love to know who thought it was a good idea to release the sash for only one model. That however is water under the bridge.

Right now I agree with you, and in this instance we need to move forward, and figure our how to get the huge and male model a sash. Also how to get this item moved to the top of the priority list once you are done with Retro Sci-Fi.

The Circle of Thorns Mage costumes: The majority of costumes we purchased in the CoT set were from the minion class characters. I think many of use found this frustrating, I know I did. There were a thousand assumptions at the time of why we did not get the most desired items from the remade CoT. Some really baffled us, like the large hat. Some like the Guantlets we assumed it may be a color issue. The long skirt is well..a long skirt. And the belt we thought may be signature. I think we were all wrong.

David created the real problem when he let it slip that Jay had created these items on the player Model, and that he was pretty sure we would be getting all of them. That had a lot of us scratching out heads when we saw what we did get. So, I began to hope a second pack would come that contained the missing items. That has yet come to pass.

I now think the real reason is because those costume items were only created for one of the three models which is male. If I am right (not hat anyone would ever admit that I am) then the CoL set should have never been released. This is one of those times where I really really want to be wrong.

To the point: I would request that the players (of all three models) get access to the mage costume items. I would like for this to become a creation project for the costume team. To convert the gauntlets, hat, belt, spiky back, and long skirt over to the player models. I love those costumes, and I think we the players could make some amazing costumes using them.

The Black Knight Armor I don't know who did the concept art, or who did the actual pieces for the game, but they are amazing. With color options I have so many characters just sitting in my imagination waiting to be build, and start saving the world. I could find a use for every item they have, and I so hope their swords make it into the character creator.

For me though the number one item is the Lobster tail helm many of them wear. There appears to be a visor up, and a visor down option. I want them both. I could see making one casual version with it up, and then a tf/trial version of the same costume where the visor has been lowered.

This is the set that make me really hope you (devs in general) were being truthful about all future NPC parts being made with the idea of giving them to the players. I want these items so bad. Right now it is light years away from anything knightly we have in the game.

Weapon Models More please. I am not sure we could ever have enough, or too many. It is hard to say that I have powers because I carry the great sword of Balmung when Joe Dirt next to me has the exact same sword.

Those are my major requests. They are the big things I would like to see in the game. Oddly the top of my list is held by a single item, the coveted Sash.

Dink, thanks for taking the time to make and read this thread. I suggest as you make items inspired by this thread you let it be known. Have all of the guys/gals do it, even if you post it for them. It would be cool to know that we helped inspire a portion of the process, and it may give others the courage to share their ideas.

    Thanks!
In my Defense, even in my rant(s) I was suggesting items I want to see in the game. A schedule of what is in the works or is being planned would help a lot. I say that knowing why you can't though.

I would like to see the elemental mask moved to the half helmet category please. As well as all of the mecha helmet items. Half helmets are pretty awesome.
  3. You misunderstand. I'm not criticising the Stealth/ExoProto boots. I'm criticising the only "bare feet" we have access to in the game, which is Flat boots with the "Bare" texture selected. The problem is that Flat boots don't look like feet, they look like boots, so putting a skin texture on top of them looks horrid. It looked bad even back in 2004.

What I'm saying is we already have at least three boots with a MUCH more foot-like shape, those being Stealth, ExoProto and ESPECIALLY Zombie. These look like feet, Zombie even has a semi-separate toe and they'd make for much better bare feet, but none of those have the right texture. Stealth and ExoProto only really have their own textures while Zombie does have a skin-like texture, but it's nasty and rotten and doesn't really work well with a Tights With Skin bottom. Plus, I don't think you can put patterns on it.

What I'm saying is "We need better bare feet!" [quote]

Ahhh. Okay, I get it now. I agree, and not just bare feet either. Beast style feet that look like hands would be cool too.

Mostly, though, when I say "female-only," I'm talking about such pieces that male characters CAN'T wear without going into controversial territory and bringing up themes of "cross-dressing." I'm not judging, I'm just saying I'm fine with those being female-only. I can't really think of any costumes that males can wear which females can't, however, with the obvious exception of going topless.

Also, men do get two whole models to female characters' one. I've been campaigning for a muscular female model, but David pretty much killed that dead, so now I'm campaigning for a more muscular texture and more muscular swaps of human arms in the Robotic Arms category. It won't be a new model, but it might be close enough to it.
I actually agreed with all of that for the most part. It was not till the CoL set and the sash that I got upset.

I still want a sash for my male and huge toons.

I have a wife, an 18 year old Daughter, 15yo son, 7yo daughter, and 4yo daughter. I know all about how females can wear male clothing. I know ALL about it. Often I say "Hey honey, have you seen my .....Shirt?" only to hear "Oh, it is dirty, I borrowed it."

I ordered a Twins Special Hoodie (they make Muay Thai gear) from Thai Land a few years back. Only for it to disappear a few months after I got it. Later I found it in the possession of my 18yo daughter "It makes me feel close to you daddy." Yeah right, she just wanted my hoodie. My son has he same kinds of problems. Shoot, the girls even wear some of his old hand-me-downs.

So I get the concept. I just want a sash for my Martial Arts characters, and I don't want it to be on the back burner because there is already one in the game. That really was my whole gripe, I just wish my head was more clear and I could have made the argument better.

    Any way, back on topic.

I was thinking. If we got the Black Knight Armor Set, including the Knights, Templar, Guardsman, and Archer outfits, would we still need a fantasy pack? It seems to me between that pack, and the rest of the CoT pack (which I still hope we get) that Fantasy would be well covered.

I am not sure how it is derailing. The whole point is to request what we would like to see. Past aesthetics, there is nothing in this game that can't be done in a MUD or a table top game. That is why how this game looks is so important to so many of us. ALL of the game play mechanics can be done in a less aesthetically pleasing way, however we want to see it done in this game. We want it to look awesome in this game.

I agree with you so much. In fact one of my suggestions was for more bulky gloves in this game. We keep seeing them on NPCs but they never get ported to us. The Praetorian Pilice, and Circle of Thorns are two good example. I don't know why I think big bulky gloves are cool, I just know that I do, and I would like more of them. The gloves are one of the things really cool about the black knight set also.

Here again i agree 100%. Also yet again the Black Knight set comes to mind. The art team gets that these themes are cool, because they are putting them on NPCs. I just don't understad why they are not also putting them on us.

Argh man! We are on the hive mind today! Over the weekend I started reading Ex-Patriots the sequel to Ex-Heroes best Zombie apocalypse books ever. Because they also have superheroes (done well) in them. In the books there is a power armor hero called Cerberus. Between that, and Avengers, I REALLY wanted to make a power armor character. So I decided to do it on test. This is where I discovered there are really only 4 maybe 5 good boot sets for bulky power armor. One of those is only attainable at level 50. Also one of those 5 are not on the live servers yet. I did however take the weekend to make costumes for my one day Rad/Rad scrapper using those parts. I subbed in EM/Invul brute for the time being.

Any way the point is, Sam is right and we also need more bulky boots. In a bad way.

There are days you drive me nuts, and days I really love you. I am highly medicated this morning, so I love you man. I really do. The Black Knight Lobster tail helmet is perfect, really perfect. Not that we couldn't use more. That one however is amazing. I prefer fantasy styles to true medieval styles, but in the case of that Black Knight help in is perfect.

I am sure many wonder why we would want options like this. Well, the hero out of time is a very appealing concept. Also Angelic, Demonic, Elven, extra dimensional and the power armor created by the D&D geek are all viable concepts in a game like this.

I would like to note that any option made for full helm, should also be made for half helm, and hat. This is very apparent with the Mecha set. Truth be told there are a lot of items that are in the Hat category that I can't figure out why they are not in the half helm category. Vanguard, Cyborg, Enforcer, Elemental Order all seem like they becong more in half helm than in Hats.

The Elemental order Mast option is the most blatant offender in my opinion. That would be so perfect for the front of so many helmets, second would be the Ascension head detail. That would great on helmets!

Jay did a new round of hair a few years back, and that is all I use now. The old hair is really that bad. It was great for its time, but that time has passed and it needs an upgrade, or just a replacement.

There were the Omega, and the Organic Armor that were both horn like, Again I agree though, it is another category that could use some love. LARPs are a great place to look for inspiration on horns. Nero has the Mystical Wood Elfe and they all have some sort of horn. One of two other races also, they just are not coming to mind. There tends to be a vendor or 4 at Dragon Con (tm) selling them.

I don't use them, but I love seeing them in game. This means more is better. I am kinda shocked with Black Scorpion running around there is not a blast set that comes from the tail, unless that is a copyright infringement, and I could see where it would be.

Really? I actually like those two boots. When worn with jeans they look like some of the sneakers/cross trainer/ tennis shoes on the market today. Which is what I mostly use them for. The Sport Boot under the cammo pants makes the best combat boot you could ask for (if used w/t laces). Past that I use work boots for combat boots. Booth look more like combat boots than the boot called combat boots.

That is a complain/question I would like to voice. Do all boots have to go to the knee? I have several pairs of combat boots, and work boots, and tactical boots irl that are only an inch or so above the ankle. Is there any way to cut those down a bit and put some bare leg there?

This goes back to the one pair of tenni shoes (which look like low top converses) having socks that go all the way to the knee. Some low cut or no show socks would be cool. The 70's are gone, and I know some still wear their socks pulled up like that (I see it on multiple kids at every wrestling match) the majority of us do not wear our sucks pulled up to our knees. Even if we did it would require glue to keep them there. or those sock garters you see in British shows and movies.

Going through the female costumes with my daughter this weekend made me realize how many glove options women have that I would love to see on the male and huge models. Prime amongst them was the bracers. Those are really nice, I openly admit feeling a pang of envy when I say them. It was the same way with the Small padded gloved., those were the perfect mma/ufc gloves. those things are at the top of my list oft things I would like to see ported over.

Any way despite my two rants this weekend. Which I would like to apologize for. I was in a lot of pain physically, and the post topics just exacerbated things. My pain meds have been adjusted again, and while it takes me much longer to write a post, it is much more rational.

I would say I am openly sorry to any I may have offended with my rants this weekend. I meant what I said, it just should have been much more tactful. I have always said that the two things I am most passionate over in this game are Scrappers and Costumes.

Dink, you are doing a great job, and looking at Night Ward your team is making some beautiful stuff. I hope we are privileged and get to see some of that in the creator in the near future. Shoot, I hope we get to see ALL of it in the creator in the near future. Although I would love to see a snake person do a storm kick...

That character didn't last long, and I have no interest in using those if they're perpetually empty or perpetually full.

Quivers I can see, since they're less of a weapon container and more of an ammo container. It makes sense those would never run out since we never run out of ammo. Holsters that hold handguns, however, NEED to be animated.

Hell, I don't even want holsters per se. I'd be perfectly happy to be able to attach my Titan Sword to my back and run around with it. I'd be perfectly happy to attach my dual handguns to my thighs and run around with them. I don't specifically need holsters. I need persistent weapons.
You explained perfectly what I have been trying to say about Quivers for a while now. They are not a weapon carrier, but an ammo carrier. Also, Arrows all look the same on the back end. Basically it is a quiver of endless arrows or quiver of returning if you like. We just need different styles of like a tech version (I just saw the Avengers), Natural version, and like a magic version or just a version to match each arch type.

With Gun holsters I disagree a bit. Most guns like arrows look abut the same on the back end and may could be covered with a few versions. A lot of modern tactical holsters have a flap over version and the gun can't be seen at all. Bit more of a problem with a western version

On the issue with melee weapons, I agree completely. I just need a static version of the weapon. I am tired of pulling it out of thin air. I also would not want a static version. If I am using rularuu swords, I want to see rularuu swords in my scabbards.

I agree with the stance the devs have take on this issue, all except the stance on quivers.

Circle of Thorns is a mixed bag - I enjoy the set for my own, but I like the look of the old CoT far better when they looked like wizards in robes as opposed to coral reefs on legs.

David Nakayama made the right call when he decided against "upgrading" old costume pieces and completely dumping the old ones. I know the Techbot is gung ho about "fix the old stuff" but I seem to recall him being one of the most vocal opponents of more reflective metal pieces to replace the old matte ones. I wouldn't mind seeing up-rezzed versions of old costume pieces, but I WOULD NOT want to, say, lose Tech Wired to something that's called Tech Wired but is shiny and reflective and completely different.

I like Racing games, and building my own cars in these games. The solution they use is one I wish we could use. They have multiple color pallet types. So rather than the part being metallic and reflective in nature, I would just choose a high gloss paint to put on my car. It is a shame we can't do this in CoX.

With a reflective, metallic, iridescent, or matte color pallet I could decide how my costume looks.

Is what it is though, and I just wanted to throw it out there.
  7. Weapon sets really need some love. There are a ton of swords, and now maces seem to be doing pretty good. We do need more Claws, Bow, Titan weapon, and staff items though.

StaffFor Staff Items I would like a pure energy staff, yes like Darth Maul has. Or like the tons of staff weapons that were in Phantasy Star Online. Look there for inspiration, because there were some amazing weapons in that game. My real desire is for a Shepherd's crook though. I would also like to see something with glowing runes on it.

Titan Weapons: Axes, Sword, Scythe, and a tree trunk of some sorts.

Claws: The mecha claws are amazing, and I can see how ideas for claws could be hard to come by. However the Katar and the Roman Cestus (w/t blades) are all items weapons that you could look to for inspiration.

Bows: Bows Are even harder I bet. Because if you are not careful you start getting accused of copying that other mmo. I did love the Celestial Bow design that we saw in the concept art that didn't make it.

I find myself playing more and more weapon characters though. So I would really like to see more weapons of all types.

We have been told that you can't do weapon Auras, but is it possible to make the base model have an aura on it?

There are a bunch of swords that NPC have in the game that we still do not have access to. The snakes dagger, the Necro Knight MM Pet swords, ToV use both of these I think. I would love to get access to those weapons for BS, DB, and Katana.

DB still can not unlock the roman swords that BS can unlock. Which never made sense to me.

My last suggestions may sound a bit odd, but there have been some philosophical changes in the game. Staff and TW reflects these changes best. In both sets we have weapons that look like they could do smashing or lethal damage, and yet they both exist in the same set. Considering that, can we get a set of escrima sticks for DB, maybe some tomahawks, or other small axes? The excuse in the past was "We can't give it sticks because it does lethal damage." Well that no longer seems to be the case, which is apparent in TW and Staff. Maybe even change the name of the power to Dual Weapons. I am pretty sure at this point very few of us are worried about the damage type vs the weapon model.

    Thanks as always!

One more thing. I would really like to see more LARGE glove options. I know I have sene Sam request this also. I love large gauntlets and gloves. More of those would be great!

Cool, I am not losing my mind then. IT would be cool if we could get a set of chops.

  11. I have always wondered if it was possible to do a costume part that is basically a clear texture with an aura fx on the inside? Example Organic Armor, except the part that is not armor is clear and on the inside of the "Skin" for lack of a better word you can see fire.

The above posts are what brought this to mind.

I just think it would be neat to have the different elemental fx on the inside of the body. So that it is like looking through a window into something like a tornado.

I think you are thinking of Frank Miller. A roboot is going to be really hard. Batman Begins was a near perfect movie.

The best way to do this is to start at a point where Batman has been at it a while. It is not like we need to be reintroduced to Batman. Also, go ahead and have the boy wonder in it, go with Dick Grayson, that way doors are opened for spin off movies.

I would really like to see Robin outside of a movie that is intentionally hokey.

Anyway, even better solution than hair with attached sideburns? Make a set as a face detail, and then add them to both Face Detail One AND Two, thus allowing them for use alongside either a mustache, goatee, or cigar (as I would want) and alongside glasses, a headband, or some other upper-face detail as I'm sure some other people would want.

Or y'know, just gimme a Face Detail 2 that is a combo sideburns+goatee. That'd be cool too.
I could have sworn there was a mutton chops option under beards at one point in time. If not, I agree it would be a cool part to have, and it would help greatly any Elvis impersonators out there.

I would like to see zone wide phasing used on PP based on level. If you are 1-39 you zone in and the park is as it has always been. If you zone in 40-50 the park is clean, children are playing, dogs are running around. There would even be plays in the amphitheater and boats fishing on the lake again.

In the alleys and in the woods where the maze is there would still be crime, for the hero to choose to stop. A place where the heroes have pretty much won. Logging out there would give the "well rested" day job badge.

What you don't know... Is that the Kraken is still sleeping under the lake, and there is a red side SF to wake him up so that he attacks the park. Why wake him up? because the Kraken is a hoarder, and his layer is full of shards and threads.

Funny how that worked out. Those threads were more focused on the loss of the long robes, and that the CoT were changing at all. That is a fair statement though. However now they know how well they will sell.

There are pages of posts requesting the Black Knight armor. I hope they take those requests as serious. I hope that it doesn't roll out like the CoT pack missing the most requested items.

I am there with you. Let me ask you a question GG, do you want the game to stop making unique parts for males? Like facial hair styles, or unique faces? Do you want females to get more, or do you just think it is cool that it is working out that way?

Do you see at all where the CoL set was unfair? Because I do see where the Gun Slinger set was sexist, and unfair. I am just trying to get a base line for you when it comes to this issue. Sort of like I have when it comes to your view of loyalist. They are all evil no matter what path they took.

So I am trying to find out what you think is fair. I know equal is hard perhaps near impossible. My question is what you think is be fair.

At least it was a mature response. It could have been done. Several people suggested that there only be unisex parts made, and that male/huge/female all get the same parts in every pack from now on. It would have been equal, and it would have been boring.

I have never really disagreed with you about exclusive parts. You are right anything a man can wear, a woman can also wear...in most of the world any way, and in this part which is the important part. That however does not invalidate anything I said above. It is still unfair that the CoL sash was not converted for males and huge. It will be unfair if males start getting lower quality items than females.

Suggestion:The thing to do is when a new pack is release that has extra costumes for females in it (like the Retro Sci fi pack) is to take and convert some of those female unisex items to male and huge to make up the difference.
So if women are getting the space suit, and the retro dress, then convert the Barbarian Tiara, and the various bracers, and ect... over to huge and male to make up the difference.

Ok, that was a tongue in cheek suggestion. The point is that with the CoL pack paragon showed a line they were willing to step over. Why not step over it for males and release the CoT mage set for males. Port wands for everyone else. This would make the CoT Mage Pack exactly like the CoL pack.

Seriously, how would you feel about that? Me? Most of those items I want for a toon that is a huge model. But I would still buy it, and would still find uses for those parts.

My reply wasn't that they weren't needed, I was alluding to the fact that the Devs did such a poor job at communication and pissed off the majority of the forum posters.
That was a long time ago, at a different game studio, and with much different devs. Comparing now to then is like comparing apples and oranges.

How having more options than others is equality, I don't know. But I doubt it's going to change any time soon, so you might as well resign yourself to having fewer options because you decide not to make a given character female.

Apologies in advance for any thread derailment that might happen because of this post.
What is really starting to bother me is that I think this is why we were shorted on the CoT parts. All of the mages are male, so the parts had not been made for female or huge.

At some point they need to look in advance and just grasp that we want the NPC parts and do all the work at once. Instead we are left wondering if we will ever get the most desired parts from that set.

Perhaps they were waiting to see if it would sell before they put the time into convert the mage costume parts to female and huge. It was at the beginning of Freedom and no one was sure how it was going to work out. Sure we had said we wanted those/all NPC costume parts, and were willing to buy them, but no one was sure if we were really going to do so. Guess what? We did, the CoT costume pack was on the top ten list of items bought in the market. So, please convert the rest, and sell us pack 2.

Even better tell us you are converting and plan to release those items, and we will stop b******g about it.

The only reason I have not put you on ignore at this point is that on occasion you do have useful information. It is obvious that some of us are really bothered by this, and yet you still choose to make condescending remarks. It makes you look childish, and is really uncalled for.

People who responded with such things in the original gender equality thread were flamed so bad that there were not even ashes left. I didn't act this way in that thread because I felt it was disrespectful, and that it was a fair complaint. My complaining in this case is also a fair one. I would ask that you show some respect to my concerns, but you have no reason to have respect for me personally. So, instead I would ask that you show at least some maturity.

I just objected to Male/Huge getting what seemed like the 'real deal' of a pack, and all my female characters getting the 'sexified' version.

Anyway, we've been there, done that, and it may eventually lead to another thread down the line if the pendulum swings too far the other way...
I agreed with the original topic. It was something worth fighting for. I also don't recall anyone in those threads calling for there to never be new pats for male/huge either. There were some that said there should be no unique parts a all for male, female, or huge. That it should all be the same and equal. I am still torn on that issue.

However it seems with the CoL set that the pendulum has swung the other way. All this over a sash. This is an issue that could have been avoided by converting the LONG REQUESTED item (the sash) to male/huge then instead of waiting. It is not like they didn't KNOW that it was one of the most desired parts ever.

To be clear I don't blame Dink for this. I blame the producer who seems to have had his/her head up their.... Well you get the point. Dink makes what she is told to make. I know who sets this priority, but I would rather not get banned so I am not going to point any fingers. Let's just say I think that person is stupid at this point.

Honestly, you guys (Paragon) want to make money. The best way to do that is to sell us what we want to buy. How do you know we really want to buy it? We have been telling you for YEARS. It is not like the request for a sash is something new.

Hey, you guys also knew what parts were most wanted in the CoT pack, how did you know? We told you. Please if need be use more polls.

Zwill made the statement that you can't include us in the development of every costume part. I agree with that, it would take forever. You can however use polls to prioritize what should get made, after all we are the ones buying it. It is our money you hope to get.

I didn't want to rant over this stuff, and it is not all about the gender thing. The CoT parts have been like a popcorn kernel stuck in my teeth for months now. With Jay gone I am scared we are never going to get them. Because who is going to want to go back to something they didn't make and convert it to the other models? This sucks, it really sucks. I mean are the CoT items going to be part of that stuff that should be ignored because the game needs to move forward?

On that note, I agree with the others. Revisiting that old stuff is moving forward. Shoot at least the CoT stuff you can call a new pack and charge us for it. See I don't care if it is a money grab. It is a business, you are supposed to try to make money. I am here telling you to take my money!

I have to stop now, because I may could write a small book on these issues. Zwill, I am sorry if I am making your life harder.

Producer in charge of costumes, get a clue, take a hint, figure it out. Phrase of your choice.

Dink, if you have not put me on ignore at this point (I would not blame you if you had), I really don't blame this on you. I know you do what the producer(s) tells you to do, I also know that the conversion of the jackets to females was charity on your part. Well, I am asking you, no begging you to find some charity for the guys and convert the CoL sash for us in your free time. Please.

Essentially, I'm spending a power pick and spending a lot of slots to be able to use a power which, even at the best of times, will push enemies away from my Invincibility/Rise to the Challenge/Against All Odds while doing precious little to them. And I'm supposed to want this?
I couldn't agree more. I often wonder if the original devs made powers like that because they knew we had to skip something. So they figured they would throw some poo into every set so the decision of what to skip was not too hard. It is like confront on scrappers, I am sure someone will argue how awesome it is. Let's be honest though, most serious scrappers skip it.

The over-abundance of defence Invention Set bonuses is not just a problem for T9 God Mode powers, especially since so many of them don't even grant defence. It's a problem with primarily defence-based sets in general, which includes things like Super Reflexes, Ninjutsu, Energy Aura and so forth. I call this power creep because as I step from the regular game into Dark Astoria, suddenly I'm expected to have far more defence than I do, because I'm expected to have defence-granting Inventions Set bonuses. If my defences aren't based around defence, that's fine, but if Defence is all I have, that's a problem. It's essentially the same old problem of higher-level enemies gaining higher to-hit which Arcana fought tooth and nail to get changed into getting accuracy buffs, instead.

The last thing I want out of the game is to worry about the super hero equivalent of Gear Score.
Over the years I have felt that defense was too good in this game. Not long ago I brought this up to Synapse. He assured me that he has plans to make resistance better, I trust him. Which is weird, but I really do trust him to make melee ATs better and more fun to play.

I also see where you are coming from about stepping into DA. Where you look at 45% def and it all of a sudden is not up to snuff. This bothers me none at all, and I am gonna tell you why. (I wanted that to sound like a sales pitch )

For years players on the Scrapper boards have been arguing/stating that the only good way to build a scrapper was to go for the soft cap in +def. I have argued against this on multiple occasions because in many cases it gimps a toon. When you have to use 3 sets of KC's (that max out at lvl 35) to do this, then you are making a sacrifice. A sacrifice you don't have to make if you build for what the set is designed for (regen or resist).

Now all of a sudden there are /DA toons getting beat to death in DA (funny that) because instead of going for damage and resistance, they went for the def soft cap of 45%, and all of a sudden 45% is not enough.

I have EA and SR toons that have defense in the 60's and sacrificed nothing to get it. They do fine in DA. My KM/ElA scrapper has 60+ resistance to everything except psi and toxic. He does fine in DA. My toons are doing fine because I stuck to what they were designed for.

I blame this on the original devs for not making resistance and defense equal in design, and on players for taking advantage of +def. What needs to happen is Resistance needs to be made just as valuable (and easy) to build for as +def.

I also remember the really crappy dev team we had back then... Currently this game has the best Powers team it has ever had. Because all of them played the game before they worked on the game.

They also all still enjoy playing the game.

To be clear I am not trying to start a debate with this. I however would love to see the official stats of what the most popular melee AT is right now. I figured it would be Stalkers. The new Stalker is very very nice, and I have seen more of them as of late than ever before.
  24. Because my current concept fit scrapper better. I almost went brute.

The concept is that the character is a member of a holy order descended from Cain and tasked by God to Shepherd over mankind. It seem to fit scrapper better because the character is basically a Priest. I had almost convinced myself to say that the Fury bar represented the character becoming more and more filled with the Holy Spirit, sort of like Pentecostals. In the end I decided to stick with scrapper. So my Staff/EA Priest ended up being a scrapper. Now I just need a Shepherd's crook for a weapon model.

I do have a version of the character on beta that is a brute though.

Things like exploding dice (roll a 10 and roll it again, and sometimes again, till you stop rolling 10's), for every D10 you had in your dice pool over 10 was not rolled, but became an automatic success (a 10 that is).

AEG really had/has some great table top systems. We ended up converting the 7th sea system to several different themes. The last being a Weird West setting.
