The OP hates MMs.
Because only MMs have knocback in CoV.
Oh, wait...
[/ QUOTE ]
Additionally, ALL MMs have knockback.
[/ QUOTE ]
Darn them crazy knock-backin' zombies. I think the Lich is the worst offender. Off with his head!
[/ QUOTE ]
I most sincerely doubt he'd notice. I mean, he's already dead. That'd just mildly inconvenience him, at best! -
Yo momma so ugly, she looked out the window and got sent to the Zig for moonin'!
-
Finally started getting back into the actual groove of playing... and I look forward to the time when I can finally color all of Overqueen's powers blue! An imperious, royal blue.
Because her sheer magnificence will accept no less! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA. -

Needed, no. They're there to fill in possible holes - Scrappers, for instance, get a ranged attack and some utility, Controllers get ranged blasts and a little armor, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Zhis. If they don't have things you feel like you need, picking up power pools you'd get more use out of is definately a better use of those slots. -

You were just being a loyal subject carrying out my will. Good subject.

And I even got you a present!

I just want to post in an uber thread.

Why say that here, though? -

Or me? Or..... like a kajillion other people that are already in the Cartel and beyond?

umm.... my loyal subjects?
=D Keep up the good work!

It is with great regret that I must inform you that my specialties include 'coup' and 'assassination protocols'.

...so what does that make me, then?

Felicitous annual hatching day! :3
Another year, another rotation around the big shiny ball thing to be awesome, if past experience is any indication. -

eleven years in the coh boards??? huh?
Did I just jump 5 years into the future? o.O
[/ QUOTE ]
Glad I'm not the only one that did the math and came up confuzzled. Was the beta even 6 years? ...Did we even have FORUMS eleven years ago?
EDIT: I knew what I meant in my head, but it didn't translate well to my fingers before coffee. -
Throwing my vote to Shia this month. Though I'm not sure why - poor Captain Mako! D: He didn't deserve that at all!
Was another great month of hard decisions, though. -

No no, I'm referring to the one from the set, Stupefy I think, that has a chance for recharge.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stupefy has a chance for Knockback, and a Set Bonus of Recharge.
Sauce
I doubt any set has a chance of only +7.5% recharge. A fair number of them have a set bonus of a flat recharge reduction, but that affects the recharge rate on all of your powers (and is as far as I know is ignored by your pets period - because of reasons stated previously).
EDIT: Muddied wording. Fixed it. -

Yep, never again making a topic on these forums unless it's a question, since 90% of the people here don't comprehend when they read. My very first post already stated my beef is with bots MMs, and to a lesser degree the others (they do cause minor annoyances, but nothing to go crying about). My beef is not that any knockback = bad, it's that you as the human have little control over how the knockback is used (or at least 95% of the people playing this game will not go to the forums and seek out keybinds to better control the AI, or even know they exist). I'm not some super ego brute running around trying to tell everyone how I want things to work, I'm trying to figure out these MMs so I can work WITH them. I thought most forum goers were min/max guys like myself trying to find the fastest way to steamroll missions, but most of the responses have been "cry moar", so maybe that isn't the case...
[/ QUOTE ]
If you were even remotely interested in learning how the AT worked and how to work with them better, you'd have mentioned it in the OP. Instead, we have this:
[ QUOTE ]
Me as brute: *gathers up nice hoard of enemies (EDIT: NOT HERDING, MAKING SURE THE MOB IS ALL WITHIN MELEE RANGE FOR EVERYONE TO USE THEIR AoEs!) for a big footstomp*
Mastermind: "Attack, my minions!"
Mob: *goes flying 5 million feet in every direction possible*
Me as brute: ">"
Every single time I team with a MM this scenario happens and I just don't feel like playing anymore. Seriously, I can probably down a bunch of insps and solo 3 more mobs in the time it takes them to track down all the enemies they scattered. Bots MMs are especially bad at this, and 90% of the MMs have to be bots for some reason. And then because they aren't paying attention to who their minions are attacking, they end up aggroing another group. Does anyone else feel my mastermind pain?
[/ QUOTE ]
You didn't want to learn anything. You had a presumption, that Masterminds (and the bolded portion is to point out that while you specifically stated Bots were particularly bad at causing your original problem [massive knockback], that every Mastermind did this to some degree) were almost predominately bad players that did nothing but cause you grief through mob scatter (via knockback).
You then proceeded to backpedal as the thread wore on, probably because you were feeling victimized (a speculation on my part, as I really don't know nor care as the reasoning is only secondary to the fact that your story changed as discussion continued).
My advice? Learn how to post what you actually mean and want, in a far more intelligent manner then you have been. Perhaps then you will actually get information you're looking for, instead of people reacting to what they (rightly) perceive is a rant. You want to rant? Start a blog.
EDIT: To summarize with a bit more clarity - if you want people to get what you mean, effing say what you mean. Even if we were psychic, telepathy rarely works over long distances. Don't get upset at us for not reading your mind. -
Whoa, deja vu.
EDIT: Oh, wait. I had a serious reply! That I forgot during aforementioned Keanu moment.
Been wanting one forever, and always been pretty disappointed when it wasn't an option. Same goes for Psychic Blast and Forcefields. -

[/ QUOTE ]
True story, my latest love affair right now is with my Fire/Regen scrapper... though ironically enough I probably should have made him WP, because I specced into Fighting and other pool powers to give me more damage/resistance to balance out the regen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a combo I've tried yet, but I can see the appeal. High-damage, and usually decent survivability (debating Fighting on my Claws/Regen for much the same reason you are, honestly). -

I wouldn't really call Traps passive, more of a fire and forget set.
But then, if you're not dropping something every few seconds, then you're not playing traps well, lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Was more commenting on the fact that */Storm and */Traps have the same activity level - you're firing off something at least once per spawn group, and occasionally refreshing some power here or there (or toggling something on).
Probably wasn't clear because of sentence structure, though. :| My bad. -

...and constant re-galeing.
[/ QUOTE ]
What stories do you re-gale them with to keep them in the corner?
[/ QUOTE ]
Usually a riveting pamphlet about why I'm blasting them in the face that particular day.
...What do you mean other villains don't hand out pamphlets on this!? -
Tech Sleek? Don't recall any helmet/face options there. :/ But, there are some definately interesting armor bits. IIRC, male pictured there has the majority of the pieces on.
I'd link some of my robotic types... but I extensively abuse the Cyborg 2 (the face shield bit) detail for it. :/ I'm a sucker for headgear. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm pretty much done with this thread since NO ONE seems to understand why almost the entire group getting scattered out of AoE range is a problem (that's not an exaggeration at all, literally every minion except two or three goes flying and runs away). Thanks for the responses, but I'm gonna let this thread die or become a joke thread like most on these forums. >_>
[/ QUOTE ]
I play Bot/Storm (probably the most KB heavy thing you can get in a Mastermind), and have extensive experience with Scrappers (as my sig-line denotes), Brutes, Night Widows, Tankers, and Stalkers, mate.
You are exaggerating things, or playing with some very careless and inefficient people. That, or I'm far better at playing then I think I am, and while that wouldn't exactly be a great feat (I'm just barely above average on a good day), I don't think it's all that likely for the most part.
Though, I'd like to apologize for being a bit more venomous and snarky then I probably should have. One of those days. :|
Only two or three Mastermind secondaries (I know Storm does for a fact, as does Forcefields; And I suspect that Traps does at least a little) and one primary (Robotics - Ninjas, Thugs, and Necromancy are far better behaved, and Mercenaries only competes with the Commando in the equation) cause any significant knockback at all, and in the primary, it's almost always a 'chance of' rather then a guarantee of it going off (I seriously wish I could control the KB on some of the energy blasts. You have no idea).
I've been on quite a number of mixed teams, and played Scrapper for a team where I was the only melee-person around besides the tank, with an FF/Nrg defender and an Nrg/Nrg blaster (Man, you think Masterminds are vicious about KB? You have no idea), and while I can sympathize... It never stopped me from doing my job, and never seemed to bother the tankers that much either. When you're presented with these kinds of situations, the only thing you can really do is ask politely and try to adapt. If you can't fire off any significant AoE damage... do what you can anyway, and try to set yourself up better for it (personally love setting up Golden Dragonfly for a three-target smash, only to find half my cluster just got blasted halfway across the map :| ).
It happens. C'est la vie.
EDIT: Stupid broken tag. I WILL DESTROY YOU. -
1) Crowd control, damage, and buff/support. It entirely depends on player skill, and to a greater extent the combination of powers you pick. 'Tanking' is a crowd control measure, for the record (disputing that one's always a laugh).
2) It varies dependent on powersets and playstyle. Bot/Storm is a very active combination (requiring a fair amount of micromanagement), but nowhere near on the level of something like, say, Necromancy/Trick Arrow or Ninjas/Dark. And */Storm is certainly not near as passive as */Forcefields, but about as passive as */Traps, but slightly less active then */Pain Domination (constant healing of pets). No hard answer here - find a groove and roll in it.
3) Think of it as herding cats, and you'll get the general idea. :3
4) I can only really speak about my experiences - my current favorite 'stunt' is Galeing mobs into a corner and keeping them there with Freezing Rain and Hurricane while either my Bots or the rest of my team clean up. For added fun, gale three clumps of mobs into a corner. Will probably require Tornado and Lightning Storm as well, and constant re-galeing.
5) It's set up on a basic set of six commands - Order (Attack, GoTo, Follow) and Stance (Aggressive, Passive, Defensive). Mixing and combining one Order and one Stance, with a tier (or multiple tiers) of pets is the majority of the macro system.. but you can certainly do it with just the Pet Management window's advanced option. It's just slower, and less efficient. (I personally have 6 macro buttons on my hotbar that I use, which is far less efficient then keybinds but far easier for my style of play)
6) I think I get what you're saying (using a macro [a GoTo command in this case - probably GoTo Passive] to tell a mob you intend to Detonate to stand at a specific place?), and yes, that's certainly possible. Depending on the stance you use, though, and the pet in question, they may be a bit stupid about actually executing that specific order in time.
