  2. Technically the Natives were "foreigners" too. It's all a matter of perspective.

But y'all are all foreigners on my damn planet. See that France? That's the USA. See that UK? That's the USA. See that Korea? All USA, baby.

Y'all foreigners can have death valley if you want.

Oh I know the pain of loss first-hand multiple times over. I still have no intention of dying however, and that's pretty cool 8)

Doesn't really matter, now does it? The CoH campaign is breaking new ground in gamer activism. We're already far beyond unprecedented.

One could argue that EVERYTHING is ultimately for naught simply because we're mortal. We're born, we live, we die. Woe is me.

Well, I don't know about you, but I am currently alive, and as long as that condition persists, I intend to take advantage of it by experiencing whatever is out there to experience. Along the way I may laugh, I may cry, but at least I will be LIVING!
Well, I have no intention of dying, so.

I wish I could explain it. Maybe it's just the realization that ultimately it's all for naught. The communities you join, the characters you build, the missions you run, the stories you write - they're all finite. They have a shelf-life. That shelf-life isn't printed on the package, but three months from the expiration date it'll pop up and really piss in your cheerios.
  10. Not a chance. I doubt I'll even resub at all. This whole experience has completely soured the game for me.

Angry Citizen and American Knight may be right in a very plain sense. But that's no kind of sense that ever gets anything done when the odds are stacked against something you love--and that includes a community built around an eight year-long hobby. If City of Heroes is by some miracle saved, it won't be people like Angry Citizen and American Knight, and their very plain sense, who we thank afterward. We'll thank Tony and all the other crazy nuts out there who pushed for the impossible, like they could hold it in the palm of their hand if they just kept trying. We'll thank all the people who equated saving this community with heroism, and who couldn't be told otherwise.
I'll still think TonyV and his cadre are self-aggrandizing, pompous fools who reinforce stereotypical views of nerdrage. By putting forth this silly slogan, he's implying that it's the game, not the community, that is worth saving. It's not. This game could be blown up and remade from scratch for all I care, so long as the community remained a part of it. We the community are not heroes. We pilot fake heroes in a fake game. That's not heroic. It never has been, is not now, and will never be. Implying otherwise is insulting to the memories of real heroes. Real heroes give their lives for a just and worthy cause, or at least come within mortal peril. That's how I define a hero. A hero is not some dude with an obviously wrong yet catchy slogan. Those are called politicians, and most of them aren't revered as heroes.
  12. I haven't seen it in a while. Perhaps you're right, I don't quite recall how the audience played in.

We are heroes. This is what we do. Remember those words. Please bookmark this forum and check back here frequently, as I'll also be posting stickies at the top that are "Calls to Action," things that we need you to do or expertise we need in order to progress in our efforts. I'll be posting news and information here, and more importantly, what you, the City of Heroes community, can do to help our efforts. --TonyV

Sorry my attempt at trying to post something motivational failed so badly.
So I decided it was best to edit out what I posted.
Nothing personal. I think I gave TonyV a similar dressing-down. It's the slogan that irks me. I appreciate your attempting to motivate the community, but do so by accepting the reality of the situation. We're not heroes. We're nothing even close to heroes. The only thing that is even vaguely approaching heroic about all this is giving the devs one last dinner night on our dime, and that's nowhere near heroic. What we are is a great community. That's it.
  14. Pretty sure you're just a guy with a mouse and keyboard killing pixels and time. Some perspective, please, so you don't come across as completely off the deep end. We're not heroes. We're a bunch of cool people who grew close to each other while playing a fun game. Heroes are guys who run into burning buildings to save a child. They're not guys who run into burning buildings to save a collection of pixels. Please stop demeaning the word.

I understand the feeling the OP is talking about, there just may be a phrase that has less baggage that could be used.

    The movie clip is below:

I think you misunderstood the point of the movie. The news anchor from Network had legitimate anger at first, when he did his "I'm mad!" spiel. It was only after the network noted the ratings bounce that the anchor was co-opted into a corporate agenda.

Which is funny, if you think about it. All the cries of "I'm mad!" from the player base ultimately serves the continuance of a corporate agenda, i.e. giving money to a corporation for entertainment - despite the fact that not a soul among us is angry because the company itself is in a poor position. We have been co-opted. Sad, really.
  16. At least you can spell. *thumbs up*

I don't give up easily. If there is one person on these forums who knows about the relentless pursuit of the impossible, about bull-headed cussedness, I dare to say it's me.

I know when there is still a fight to be fought, and I know when there isn't.

Based on all available information, which I freely admit we may not have all of, the fight for CoH is done. Until information comes to light to contradict that, spending energy working to that end or giving people false hope doesn't help anyone. From what I gather, TonyV thinks the same based on his latest Titan address.

We need to focus on moving forward while we still have momentum. The dinner for the devs was probably the best single thing the SaveCoH movement could have done even though it would in no way result in CoH being saved. It got major attention in the gaming press because it wasn't something that could be spun as a selfish tantrum by children who were going to have their toy taken away, which is how the Atlas gathering was spun by many. You can't buy good publicity like that. Further, it cemented our dedication to the former dev team and hopefully planted a seed that they may want to pick up and start over on another game.

Again, we have to look towards the future. Until there's a press release that says otherwise, CoH is done.

I don't. If I do, I edit them, because I take pride in my communications. I feel that if one is sloppy about one's use of language, then one doesn't really care what oneself says.

Guess what the punishment wont work. At this point there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it. **** that spell check, as some of my prior post used that, and made no difference. They found something else to poke at.
It's already working. You're in a tizzy, cursing up a storm and providing an awesomely entertaining distraction from linear systems analysis.

Oh well look at this, my pride is intact and I didnt die admiting that I'm not perfect unlike some people in here cant do who self esteem is so low that they must make themselves feel better by nit picking someone else's mistakes and have the dilusions that they can never make a mistake ever. The world have a better chance of ending then them making a mistake.
Come for the per se, stay for the "dilusions" and "admiting".

You can take it or leave it. With the rule that is not being applied to most people, I choose to leave it as it's ********.
Yes, you're the only one in this thread who doesn't make an effort to make their posts conform to the English language, and you are being punished accordingly. Again, it's not hard to type an apostrophe or download a spellchecker and fix anything that is underlined in red. At this point you've become so angry towards all the people needling you that you're starting to become incoherent.

And many people make more mistakes than me. Way more. And yet, people can ignore them, but cant even mispell something as simple as per se without some grammar nazi coming along. I'm dont talking about it. I tried to bend backwards for that spelling stuff, I even used word to check mistakes but if it's one thing after another after another they continue to find, why should I put in this effort for anything if they can even show me a little common decency of fairness? Why should I show any decency at all if they cannot show me any? So now I'm at that point that I'm saying spelling mistakes and all, cant read it tough. My patience has worn out in that regards. I spell check and have to proof read official papers at work 40 hours a week, day in day out to make sure that the legal stuff and papers to higher up look as official as possible. I get paid for that. That is WORK. Here is not work, but some certain people seem be trying to make it seem as much like work as possible and guess what, they aint paying crap not even a little fairness. So you know what? I quit. I'm not letting anyone make this feel like work. I'm going write how I want make mistakes and leave them be, and format the way I see fit. If they make a deal out of it since they cant even over look "persay" and have to make a big deal out of nothing, then fine then, I'ma stoop to their low level and make a big deal about it. But I'ma not eyt goign to stoop so low that I'ma goign to go around looking only mistakes in their post like mine and ignore what they are writing. Cant yet bring myself to that low of a standard where I get my jollies, like some here, going around correcting only one person mistakes and dismisses everyone elses and to add salt to the situation. Expect me to sit there and take it. Hell no! And not all of my posts have mistakes in them, but always put more effort into it put more effort into put more effort into when people find one mistake. Why not go tell that to everyone else that make mistakes. Last I checked this was CITY OF HEROES. NOT FREAKING ENGLISH CLASS WHERE PEOPLE THAT ARE PURE HYPOCRITE LIKE THEY NEVER MADE AND GRAMMAR MISTAKES IN THIER MISABLE LIVES HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE ME JUST BECASUE I MISPELL THINGS. ESPECIALLY SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AND LITTLE ASK PER FREAKING SE! GOD DAMN! I SWEAR all of this over per se. I SAID I FREAKING SAW THE MISTAKE! IF YOU CANT BOTHER TO CORRECT OTHER PEOPLE, DONT GO OUT OF YOUR GOD DAMNED WAY TO CORRECT ME AND THINK I'll be OK WITH IT.
not yelling at you, Lucky666. I think I just had it taking this **** all of the time day and day out trying to be nice, trying to let it go, but no they wont stop. But anyways only have to put up with it for not much of a long time. Then that's it. I still wont let them ruin my day. no. They try all the tactics they want I'm going to be here until the 30th to see the game off. At first, for the community and maybe say goodbye but now it's purely for me. as it's obvious they dont give a crap about me so why give a crap about them. I put in so much effort to save the game, even convinced husband, who despises games, to put a large sum of money away just in case that what it takes. But screw that, what the hell am I saving? So people can continue to focus only on my mistakes? What sane person would do that? Not me, that money is goign to better use now. I'll just sit back and watch the game burn and watch the fireworks come NOV 30th. Where ever people like that go after that, I hope they can somehow rebuild COX or some semblence at least that means they aint on other games ruining the community.
It's not that hard to spell right and have good grammar. Also it's "semblance", and you misspelled "misspell".
  21. Don't have much. Just a few characters who were at the peak of their possible power ... in freakin' I14 or whatever. You could sell off the LotG's though ^_^
