I couldn't attend either PAX or the Hero Con last year (or this year coming up). I desperately want to, not just because they're likely to have such goodies, but because a lot of my online friends will be there. It's an experience I don't regret splurging for back in 07.
Guys - you KNOW when the cons are. You know you can ask about upcoming events in pm's with the rednames. These things aren't coming out of the blue. You can and should save up for a great trip to Sunny San Diego some time - or Pax or whereever else. It's not just "to get the goodies".
If I could, I would snag a dozen of these things and send em to people who ask. But - I'm one person, and fairly there will be hundreds looking for the booth.
Last year they had to give out two kinds of passes for the item and the party. One that had the party admission, and one which was for the party in addition to the code in game. Poor Ex was swamped with people, she had to determine within moments whether someone standing there had an account or not - and yet still I saw people gloating about how they got a code and didn't even know what it was for.
Prepare, in advance, have a week set aside and travel. Yes, it's expensive. But you know what? My town's worth it. I personally wouldn't GO to Chicago or New York - I've got absolutely zero interest in seeing them. (again, in Chicago's case.) There's a reason, after all, why most companies choose San Diego over others. They're not denying themselves a big audience outside of it - because those other cons *are miniscule* in comparison. -
Except that I tried using the upper body tights pattern and ... it was completely lacking. Completely useless, in terms of anything to do with costumery, the detail goes past subtle into uselessness there. The legs and face, they look nice. But without SOMETHING more on the chest it's almost not even worth having.

It doesn't reference it. Animals are furry thus they are called furry. And being a furry is not a deviant behavior but this is not the place for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. There's nothing whatsoever about "furry" - however the word BEASTIAL does directly imply beastiality, and I would avoid that entirely. -

Oh god no. Please...THE HORROR!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Do explain, why having extra costume equipment which has 'fur' appearances, is any more horrific than the robotic/cyborg stuff from the other pack?
Personally, I'm *terrified* of robots. Physically I get dizzy looking at 'realistic' robots like you see on youtube. That's horror for me.
I still bought - and USE - those costume parts, because they're part of one of my character's background.
Just as any given 'magical cat girl' or 'uplifted porcupine' has their own place.
The only horror about "furries" is the lack of information and the huge prejudice against them because of that lack. -

what benefits do the magic and cyborg packs give you?
more abilties in those lines?
[/ QUOTE ]
There are no groundbreaking or extra amazing powers in any of these sets. That's so that people can't imbalance game play by paying more than the normal folks. But what they do have is a cute perky power and some very nice costume options. -
Ooh you forgot, "bake in a horse-shaped springform pan".
-
Yes some of us know that, but as I pointed out earlier not every player does. Most of us here in the forums do. But then, most of us here in the forums also dont' want spammers to easily find us, as we're the ones most likely to complain about spam emails.

also... what is the best server to get involved with if i buy it? most action best economy etc...
[/ QUOTE ]
The economy is global across all servers. The only difference would be whether you want to pvp, rp, or other such things. Check the server forums below, for the personalities of each.
I'd also recommend GVE, but in the long run, you're gonna want to buy them all. The codes only change what perks you get individually, not the base game itself. Everyone gets the same game from every single purchase. -

popcorn, hot dogs, s'mores, ribs, snickerdoodles, ice cream cones and snow cones here. get your favorite snacks before they run out.

Haaaayyyyyyy. I saw you in another stadium. Um, Thread.
I'd like some .... popcorn. No butter. Salt. Thanks!
Ooh and a snowcone. That sounds good, it's hot today. -
The hospitality toward newcomers or returning players who come back with valid, well-spoken and nonflaming requests or questions is amazingly good.
Those who aren't such posters, as the OP proves, will get what they came for. -
Except that changing your body type is purely cosmetic, and changing your archetype and powersets is dramatically impacting the game directly. They have yet to microtransact that.
-
Hasten is already in the game in the form of a power pool choice. Another idea batted around frequently is a "travel speed" insp, which I wouldn't mind seeing, but a recharge one... not so much. It'd imbalance things too much because of the fact that hasten is already present and accounted for.

Yeah having the monsterous feet for normal legs would be very nice.
But also having skirts/kilts for monsterous legs = love.
I don't really understand the hate behind the word furry, the people who you're thinking of when negative thoughts come along are NOT the same as the rest of us who like drawing/writing, or whatevr and the character happens to have an animal feature.
Having a full on booster for specific animal traits would be exactly as necessary or desirable as the Robotic stuff, exactly as pervasive in the game. I see just as many catgirls as demons and robotics, so... yeah I'm hoping that the "mutant" pack is mostly this. -
I'm saying: why change the entire game to suit a "but it's not HARD enough" mentality? When 90% of the player base comes along and says "my god this game is ridiculously easy, do something about it" then I'll say yeah, that's time to think broad changes.
When one person finds it too easy, it's that one's responsibility to understand what THEY can do in their game play experience, to make THEIR game more challenging.
I solo - I have soloed since I started 5 years ago this month. I don't need to rush through anything, I enjoy playing to read the missions, and I enjoy *well made* AE missions as well. I do not play PVP and I don't need to trick out my toons with purples and such.
I am, in a nutshell, the core of the game's player base, not a hardcore anything - not a rush to 50, not a where's the endgame, not a I can't find the Hollows nub either. So yeah, any kinds of changes to the basic "challenge" level of the game would DIRECTLY change how I *have* to play it. So I don't advocate any kind of game-wide changes - I advocate players making their own decisions about what THEY can do to make THEIR game challenging.
You have to remember that the default needs to be "average". Not "hard" for a game like this, in order to keep and attract players. This game has never espoused itself to the hardcore crowd of any bent, and I don't expect ever to do so.
I absolutely agree with you about the MA - that's what it's there for. So, any individual who finds themselves lacking a challenge should consider doing something there, or gimp their character (which is a common thing for some groups, witness the ironman type threads) or just moving on to a more outright difficult game. -
The game is not challenging because you already exceed its capabilities to entertain you.
The game is far TOO challenging for ME at even the 2nd or 3rd difficulty level.
Change what YOU put on YOUR character. The game is fine the way it is. -

The problem with that Daemodand is that not everyone wants the whole world to know their global.
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
If I'm in a global channel with someone, they can know me there. But there's a distinction between character and person, and I'd like to keep it that way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone who knows your toon name has access to your global name. /get_global_name is available by just knowing someones toon name. I guess I'm not seeing how there's a distinction.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most people still don't know that you can do that. Yes, it's commonly known here in the forums, but frankly I don't need j random SPAMMER seeing my global under my toon's name, either. Make it at least half a minute more difficult for them to get it, thanks. -
Change your own settings.
Don't try changing mine, thanks. I like my level of difficulty and challenge exactly the way I have it. So, if you don't want it "easy" try this:
Don't use any enhancements. Don't take primary powers. Delete after defeat.
The game itself is exactly as challenging as most of us want it to be, and already has a difficulty slider - now admittedly I'd like the slider to be able to produce more customized results (I want more x or y instead of a and b) but the outright challenge? Is fine how it is. If you're not challenged by the game, don't do all those things that make it easier to play, eh? -
If the company decides it's worth their effort, money and time to fly the people out away from their easily-reached work area, to those other cons, then that's their business.
As it is, the San Diego con is *the most important* convention of its kind as well, and it's not to diss people who can't show up to get a trinket, it's to *expose their product to a hundred thousand people* who would otherwise not see it *at all*.
The convention is here. Every single year. It's up to anyone who wants to attend it, to come here to do so. I don't get a "you live in San Diego you can come in for free" pass, you know. It's just as expensive to attend for me, as it would be for you.
Make the effort, get the goodie. This was the same argument as last time. It's what has to get done in order to reward a few people with a silly trinket. Want it? Come get it. Otherwise, discuss it with NC's people about why they aren't sending their employees at fairly high expense to other cons farther away from Paragon. -
I want too. So hopefully the other artists will comply - it's stuff we've been asking for since the start. It took so long to get bunny tails, and even longer for them on males, ears the same way...
I'd definitely pay 10 bucks to have proper furry stuffs. -

Yeah that's definitely been loading my email box lately, "almost" names, "names a 12 year old kid would call their toon"...
I agree that anything in a banned account should be freed up, just in case there ARE some acceptable ones. But indeed, the reason that the purges aren't more frequent is that it just turned out that there weren't that many being *re used*, and so many were under level 6, so... Chances are that the names you want to use that are taken, ARE taken by someone who's at least cared enough to level their character to some respectable level, and / or are simply *enjoying their character with that name* still.
Be creative. This game relies and in fact takes pride in its creativity, go for it. -
Yeah I really hope that there's a party like last year's. It was full of awesome geeks.
And to those suffering from the "too bad it's local" you don't seem to realize that if you have the time and money you CAN attend, but you do have to pay attention to the sellout level of the tickets. They have indeed been sold out completely for at least a full month, and 4 day passes sold out quite some time ago. This is the biggest convention of its kind, and like Freedom on a double xp weekend, it's capped and closed.
But there are people from literally all walks of life, and all nations of the world, attending. It's exactly as expensive to *attend*, even if it costs more to *arrive* for some than others. This year will be my 28th, and it just keeps getting better and better. -
My first 50 is Natural, but she's more evolved into a multiple-origin type in her backstory.
The only real consideration I give aside from an origin being "obvious" (ie: a magician, a hideous mutant, a robot) is what enemies I'll be facing in the low levels.
