  1. To enhance my CoH experience? (Not that we have such huge lotteries in the UK, but as a what if: )

1: Hire Jason Graves, Jeremy Soule and Diego Stocco to do an awesome soundtrack for this game, along with paying for the sound and music system in game to be more flexible to make full use of their talents.

2: Fund Power Pool/Epic Power Pool/VEAT/HEAT/ power customization

3: Fund free for all powersets in the realms of Earth Blast, Earth Manipulation, Earth Buff/Debuff, Electric Buff/Debuff, Ice Melee, Icy Armour, and so on, ensuring there is a synergy match across all AT's and possible powers, and the APP's to go with them.

4: Bring into motion a European City of Heroes Freedom Player Summit.

5: The creation of some store interiors in each zone, as well as external locations to make the places look more like a city for the purposes of roleplay.

6: Organize more comics in the style of the Blue King set.

7: Revamp the older, more tired story arcs and missions, especially in City of Heroes. That thing needs an entire contact restructure from say, before i3.

8: More faces for characters in the style of those that came before, no normal mapping, just high quality stuff.

    9: Bug-fixes.

10: A comprehensive survey issued to players to get an idea of what things to tackle next.
  2. I think many of us can hope that Doctor Brainstorm is Fanon Discontinuity and hopefully now Canon Discontinuity. Also, as Chase_Arcanum wrote, a lot of the mechanics justified by story for MMO's simply -don't- work for a compelling roleplaying or story writing narrative.

Let's take the mediport and rejuvinators. These two items, if applied literally to roleplaying and stories, can serve to utterly remove personal risk from heroes. A heroic sacrifice becomes something a quick teleport to the hospital will soon sort out. There's no peril because they know they can just beam out. The prison cell mechanics only appear on certain maps (Arachnos, Council/5th, Circle of Thorns) and that's technological/magical redirection to their cells.

To take Brainstorm, the idea that science enables someone to get angrier as they swing an axe is quite frankly ridiculous, as if this was not a possibility before science happened. It was pointless story justification for something that need not be justified.

I tend to dislike the CoH column on Massively, and in the most recent one they complained about a lack of an alter-ego/job mechanic in game. I for one am glad there is no 'official' implemented system to handle this. Why? Because as the system currently stands, there are now over the course of 22 updates few mechanical barriers to have my characters do something I want them to do as a job, or be.

Zortel now uses the Huge Body type to signify the switch from a more slender to a more protective, bulkier power suit as she has grown older. Dale Drake goes from his male bodytype to a huge body type when he shifts to werewolf form, the same as Haemokin does when he transforms into his blood beast form. There's nothing to stop me saying that Tina P. Caustaf is a pact broker for Pacts 4 U, or that Jan Boa can't work her mercenary and manpower company out of the above apartments of a Euromart selling imported foodstuffs from continental Europe in Port Oakes.

So, to answer a statement posted at the start:

    Quote:

I make characters in the game CoX, rather than making characters and trying to squeeze them into CoX.
I make characters in the CoX Universe, rather than the CoX Game. If something can be bent, sidelined or ignored in favour of a more logical, in character, fitting and suspension of disbelief-preserving story or person, then I will do it.

If that means Zortel does not buy her powersuit's tech upgrades from Cooke's Electronics and so forth? Fine, because it doesn't make sense for a scientist who built her own suit of power armour, customized to her and utilizing her own parts, to rely on store-bought consumer products. Now, there might be a situation where she'd have to pick something up to jury rig in a certain situation, but for the grand majority of the time, she's using parts and components she's helped to assemble designed for her own suit.

If that means Cindersnap isn't stopping off in some high street store to have his DNA tinkered with instead of his mutation just developing naturally and honing it with training?

If The Moral trains from scrolls and books written by her predecessors rather than going to a boutique store selling technique training and supplements?

If Twilight's Flame doesn't bombard his body with chemicals and simply works on training his abilities as a Warshade?

If Fuchsia Sands gains insight from studying her Fuchsia Hourglass rather than buying artefacts from Pandora's Box?

That makes for a more logical, rounded and varied experience for my characters, my story writing and those I roleplay with.

Rushmore buys things from stores. But they tend to be groceries, clothes, that sort of thing. His powers come from the Spirit of America though, so he doesn't buy upgrades to his powers and abilities from stores.

His costume doesn't come from Icon, as it's part of his transformation. He doesn't get his regular clothes from Icon, he gets them from various clothing stores that would naturally exist in a city, from supermarkets and department stores to dedicated stores. He even has a band t-shirt that he picked up from somewhere.

As Jamie Matthews, his alter ego, he works as a grocery bagger in a Mega Mart on Talos Island. He takes the train sometimes as Rushmore to deter crime on there. He goes to cinemas, shopping complexes, malls, arcades, bowling alleys, with his friends or with his wife. Sometimes both.

One of his mentors in the Unity Vigil often takes him to the In-Front Steak House. When he and his wife order take out, usually it's the Mexican Chicken Special from Paragon Pizza Pie. He's never trained with Ms Liberty or any of the others, but does wave to them if he's going by. His powers come from the Spirit of America, and she grants them to him to help, or as he comes to new understandings of just what it means to fight for his country.

My other characters are similar. What I mean to say is, I will accept the premise of the world, build on what exists and fill out the things the devs have not provided for flavour, like bands that may not exist in the real world, films, tv shows, technology, products (Like IguanaBar, the only energy breakfast bar that comes with googly eyes on the packaging. Collect them and send them in to claim exclusive rewards like t-shirts, baseball caps, wallets, plush toys and more) and ignore the things that only really serve as a flimsy excuse for an MMO convention.
  4. Considering we have players completing Paragon Market posts to list what items are on sale...
  5. Broadcasting intermittently on TV and Radio:

THE FBSA EAS SYSTEM HAS ISSUED AN EMERGENCY ACTION NOTIFICATION FOR: PARAGON CITY, RHODE ISLAND AT [TIME] ON [DATE] EFFECTIVE UNTIL FURTHER NOTIFICATION.

A METAPHYSICAL INCIDENT IS IN THE PROCESS OF OCCURING IN ASTORIA, PARAGON CITY. MAGI ADVISE ALL TO STAY AWAY FROM THE AREAS OF ELEUSIS AND EAST OF THE FOUNDERS FALLS EXIT OF THE ARGO HIGHWAY IN TALOS ISLAND, AND THE AREA OF BLACKSTONE HILLS, FOUNDER'S FALLS.

DO NOT GO PAST POLICE CORDONS. THEY ARE THERE FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION. BE ADVISED THAT THE SITUATION MAY BECOME MORE SEVERE, AND PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE MADE FOR LEAVING AREAS NEAR THE CURRENT CORDONS AT SHORT NOTICE.

CONSULT THE FEMA WEBSITE AND NEWS BULLETINS FOR NEWS, ADVICE AND UPDATES ON THE SITUATION. DO NOT PANIC, AND HELP THE AUTHORITIES WHERE POSSIBLE.
  6. We snicker as we stare at that
    While our client loads
For while Statesman stands in heroic pose
    His loins have been de-hosed.
  7. Female WP Brute also does it.
  8. More like this. Shadow Shards + Eden, maybe?

Fantastic stuff, DA has replaced the RWZ as my favourite story arc zone.
  9. ((Okay, that's embarrassing, I scrolled down the suggestion's page and completely missed the other suggestion about APP's for themes. My bad. Stupid lack of being able to delete threads. ><

Go and read this thread instead: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=278342

    It's much better!))

I like synergy. If I've got a electric scrapper, I like having the option to have electric APP powers to go with them. Sadly this isn't the case however, the closest there is happens to be the Mu Patron Power Pool set, but for the characters that have electric armour, taking them villainside to get the pool makes me want to pull my teeth out. So I got wondering just what APP's are missing from the various AT's.

Blasters got Psychic Blast and Mental Manipulation, and Dark Blast and Dark Manipulation, but they have no Psychic Mastery or Dark Mastery APP's.

Scrappers have Electric Melee and Electric Armour, but no Electric Mastery APP.

Controllers have Electric Control and Darkness Control/Dark Affinity, but no Electric or Dark Mastery.

Defenders have Fire Blast, Ice Blast, Cold Domination and Thermal Radiation, but no Fire or Ice Mastery.

Tankers have Dark Armour, Dark Melee, Electric Armour and Electric Melee, but no Dark or Electric Mastery.

Brutes have Dark Armour, Dark Melee, Electric Armour and Electric Melee, but no Dark or Electric Mastery.

Corruptors have Thermal Radiation, Cold Domination, Ice Blast and Fire Blast, but no Fire or Ice Mastery.

Dominators have Darkness Control, Dark Assault, Electric Control, Electric Assault, but no Dark or Electric Mastery.

Masterminds have Dark Miasma, but no Dark Mastery

Stalkers have Electric Armour, Electric Melee, and Ice Armour, but no Electric or Ice Mastery.

So in general that's Electric, Dark, Ice, Psychic and Fire Mastery needed. Seeing as they'd likely share a few powers between them, I'd certainly love to see these holes getting filled.

Massive thanks go out to @Eleven. who has been running teams all weekend on Union for the Union Roleplayers peeps, and has assisted in getting some 7 and 6 year old characters to level 50.

Sorry, I meant Galaxy City. Though in the past when the Edge of Chaos (?) badge was below City Hall, a hero was required for a rogue to get down there and get it.
  14. I think one of the big problems is the Signature Story Arcs.

As a 'Pure' Alignment you can get 1 Alignment Merit and 20 Merits repeatable up to 50, then the Astral and Threads.

As a 'Grey' Alignment you only get the 20 merit option up to 50. You can't even get 20 merits twice by doing a hero and a villain SSA. Just 20 merits for one SSA per week.

You know on most of my Vigilantes and Rogues I don't even bother running them? I'm planning on waiting on characters to get to 50 so they don't effectively 'waste' their first completion bonus on 20 merits.

And as much as devs have said being a 'tourist' alignment lets you play all the content in the game, that's only if you get someone on the other side of things to run it for you to join in. Not to mention that Rogues can no longer get the Atlas Park or original Dark Astoria exploration badges, while Vigilantes can get all the Rogue Isles exploration badges.

Wedding pack, and I was just thinking of that myself.
  16. That's a tough question.

Honestly, I just want the power customization system finished. It seems stupid to have to pay for something that should be a core part of the system but...

If it's what it took to secure dev time to work on it and implement it, and also allowed more APP's like Electric Mastery for Scrappers and Tankers and so on?

    Yes.
  17. Bah, going to have to get a plugin for Paint.Net if I wish to enter, damn .psd file format requirement.
  18. Here's what I'd like to see:

Perez Park - The Storyline focuses on retaking the zone for the Galaxy City Refugees, and for any refugees from Praetoria and other such places. The Skulls and the Hellions get a revamp, as you work to push them out of the zone. A new tunnel leads to Kings Row.

Kings Row - Follows after Perez Park. The gang warfare has escalated in the zone after the Skulls and Hellions were pressed into there, and the Clockwork King plans something big after years of his Paladin being defeated, which includes his forces getting a revamp.

Skyway City - Grendel returns to lead the Trolls, and the Outcasts struggle with a power vacuum after Frostfire's turn to heroism. Their conflict spills out into Skyway City, while the Lost work to secure their power base in the south of the zone in an attempt to claim Faultline for themselves.

Steel Canyon - The Clockwork King's plans extend into Steel Canyon, a faction of Outcasts begins to recruit new blood and hone their talents under the guide of a charasmatic new leader with more on his mind than petty crimes, and new business ventures may have sinister backers that attract the ire of several of the city's older gangs.

Independance Port - Remenants of the Syndicate have come to Primal Earth, and are soon starting to regroup in the zone. Meanwhile, the Marcone family seek to expand into the zone. With the Frost Family rallying their forces to fend off these two new threats, the PPD and the heroes of the area are faced with fending off a triple threat.

Talos Island - The Tsoo and the Warriors enmity reaches new heights, and as the Circle seek to solidify their claim on the northern islands and force the Devouring Earth off, something stirs among the Freakshow as news comes down from the 'top'.

Brickstown - Under the city, Arachnos attempt to build a power base, tapping into the glut of new inmates in the Zig. Crey makes a deal to bring employment and revitalization to the area, looking to reclaim 'Crey's Folly'. The Syndicate continue their struggle, and the extreme environmentalists that support the Devouring Earth plan new actions under the guise and deception of the self-appointed force of nature.

There's plenty of ways to revamp enemies and give places a story that interacts with others as well standing by themselves. Some Vigilante/Rogue Content would be neat too.
  19. Well one thing a badge tells us is that there are sentient creatures in there:

Regal Badge (Boomtown): King Mihenra, a self-proclaimed warlord from the Netherworld, attempted to seize control of Paragon City, only to be defeated by Positron on this very spot.

  20. Will check this out in a bit, I think it's a fantastic idea.
  21. Even the pet being immortal still wouldn't get me to buy it, especially not at 800 points. And the pet has to be out for this buff to be given, right?

So essentially, you're stuck with a tiny green man following you about. That won't go with any of my character concepts.

Agree. There are lots of things on the store like that. For instance, I look at IO sets and all I can think of is 'For the price I could get a new costume set that all my characters can use!' Extra storage is even higher above that, and the vanity pets are just too much buck for too little bang.
  23. So:

Costs £6.80 (Same as a power set, costume slot and numerous other more useful things)
    Can be defeated easily
Gives a pittance of an Inf Boost

Yeah, so not getting it. Paragon Studios, I am Disappoint :|
  24. I was saying on a global channel how I wasn't happy with Psychic Blast/Mental Manipulation for one of my characters.
