The system as it is, is a good one. It isn't too expensive for those wanting to talk on the global channels, while imposing a barrier to spammers.
If you want to blame anyone for this, blame the spammers and the players that buy from them. As it stands, new players get far more of an extended trial than I did when I joined: I got two weeks to try the game, not an unlimited time that could exceed years. -

To say it again:
You get the Transfer Token the first time you log in after the first of the month.
You get the Paragon Points on your billing date if that day is after the 12th of the month. If it is before the 12th, it will get closer each month until it actually is the billing day.
You are supposed to get a Paragon Token after a month of play, however when that month starts seems to be a closely guarded secret that the billing department feels the player (or anyone else in the company) doesn't need to know. -

The distribution, contrary to what Second Measure said, seems to be fairly uniform among the trials. Given that the Underground has a 2:1 fail rate, I don't perceive that as having a chance at higher rewards.
In fact, out of my Underground Trials (15 trials):
10 Fails (66.67%)
0 Threads (0.00%)
1 Common (6.67%)
2 Uncommons (13.33%)
1 Rare (6.67%)
1 Very Rare. (6.67%)
Without the fails
1 Common (20%)
2 Uncommons (40%)

I'd have a larger sample set except no one, including myself, wants to run them very frequently with people they don't know.
Keyes on live since Issue 20.5 (50 successful trials, 3 fails):
18 Common (36% of Keyes runs since June 28, 2011)
21 Uncommons (42% of Keyes runs since June 28, 2011)
8 Rare (16% of Keyes runs since June 28, 2011)
3 Very Rare (6% of Keyes runs since June 28, 2011)
Compare that with BAF since 20.5 (68 successful trials, 7 fails):
21 Common (32.35% of BAF runs since June 28, 2011)
31 Uncommons (45.59% of BAF runs since June 28, 2011)

The end result is that while Second Measure (or any of the development team for that matter) say that X trials have higher chances at higher rewards, there is no difference when the pavement meets the road as far as a player can tell. -

While I thank the developers for testing many of the ideas presented in this thread, I'll point out the suggested (and reversed) removal of BAF/Lambda Empyrean Merits proved the following post:

The four sample sets are the major patches that have affected Incarnate Trials. To get more sample sets will take as long as it takes for the developers to introduce major changes. Issue 21.5 (TPN Trial) will be the start of the new sample set. After that, when the MoM trial starts will be yet another sample set. However I don't think I'll be able to run 100 trials between the two, given comments. -

When I use an Option line with "bind_load_file" in it, I get a system message saying the bind file was successfully loaded, but it doesn't actually switch the binding. I know it's not an issue with my bind files, because they work fine when I use a keybinding or macro to load them. They just don't work with pop-up menus.
In order for the binds to "stick" you have to zone after the load.
