Hey all,
The feedback in this thread, along with the feedback I've received in PM from some of you, has been forwarded along.
While we're extremely pleased with the positive reception the Animal Pack has had, especially in regards to the variety and quality, we definitely agree that there's always room for improvement.
Thanks all!

First character, created when the game launched, was my Katana/Regen scrapper. First character to 50 as well, and still, to this day, has the most playtime.
The second was an Ill/Kin troller, made as a diversion from the scrapper, along with an Ice/Emp troller made to play with the wife (she was playing MA/Regen) in a themed duo.
And then the altoholism hit...I'm sure you all know the rest of the story. -
Hey guys,
Two things
- First, I'm going to move this thread to the Comic Book and Hero/Villain Culture forums as it's more appropriate for that forum.
- Secondly, one word: Stargate.
- First, I'm going to move this thread to the Comic Book and Hero/Villain Culture forums as it's more appropriate for that forum.

For the folks that are concerned about receiving your Loyalty rewards, I'll be sure to address this with the appropriate people. We will work to ensure that everyone who is legitimately entitled to these rewards receives them.

Quote:I do intend to come out to a few of these PvP nights. A few things have prevented me from spending much time in game, mostly having to do with relocating my family cross country (my house looks more like a box factory than a house currently). Give me some time and I will be out there, embarrassing myself against the best of you as I get curbstomped over and over again . For awhile at least *evil laugh*....
I made a suggestion one which I think would really be a sincere effort at communication rather than just a post that in all apearences seems very insincere to many. To be blunt it looks like a post to make him look good at the new job. Maybe it's not that and he is sincere but regardless the perception from many is that it's for show. A sincere step would be to come to PvP league nights on freedom, pop into RV on a few servers, and attend various server KB's and stuff like PvP boot camp on victory.
I'm not worried about looking good, that's not what being a Community Manager is all about. We need to be visible within the Community so that we have a better understanding of those that we represent.
I've no illusions that I'm going to be some sort of miracle worker with PvP. However I do know that if I want to accomplish anything for the PvP Community, I have to be persistent and knowledgeable about the subject. Hence, these conversations. -
My sincere apologies to anyone who is experiencing any level of frustration in relation to the new security update. We absolutely agree that additional time to communicate and prepare players for this update would have been preferable and have communicated the need for such to the appropriate individuals.
We will strive to make any further security updates such as this a much smoother process and less jarring to our Community.
Thanks everyone for your patience.

I hope everyone had a great week/weekend!
So I've spent a lot of time reading, re-reading and digesting this thread. Firstly, thank you to everyone who's participated. I've learned a lot about the current state of PvP in CoH from this conversation. This, combined with the many threads throughout the forums, has given me a greater insight into how people feel about PvP. As a Community Manager, this insight is extremely helpful.
So what's our plan as a Community Team moving forward? well, first off, we're going to continue the open dialog. Why is this important? Well, the more constructive and helpful discussions we have regarding PvP, the more opportunities I have to point the development team towards valuable feedback. The intent is that talk will eventually lead to action.
In the same spirit; There has been a lot of back and forth in this thread between players with varying opinions regarding what works and what doesn't work with PvP in CoH. I woud remind everyone here, that we're all on the same side and working towards the same goal. Please, don't discount someone else's opinion just because it doesn't line up with yours. Respect the fact that even those who have more limited experience with PvP than others still can contribute, and should still be encouraged to contribute. Remember this one truth: PvP is no fun unless you have other people to experience it with.
We'll be leaving this thread open for another day or so until we start a new discussion thread. I do have a new topic in mind, however moving forward, I'm more than open to suggestions on topics for discussion. Everyone is welcome to PM myself, Avatea or Beastyle potential topics for discussion and we'll take it into consideration.
Thanks!

Good News for our Heroic and Villainous citizens from South America! We've identified a workaround for an issue which is currently preventing players in South America from utilizing the NC Soft Launcher.
There is an issue which is preventing the games.xml file in the NC Soft Launcher from properly updating for customers in effected regions. While we are still working to identify the root cause of this issue, players may resolve this issue by downloading the updated games.xml file. Right-click on the following link and select either 'Save Target As' in Internet Explorer, or 'Save Link As' in Firefox:
Replace the file in the following directory (your path to this file may vary based on what operating system you are operating) with the downloaded file:
- NCsoft\Launcher\Config\Default
Please note that we are continuing to investigate the cause of this issue. If you are amongst the players who are currently experiencing this issue, information such as your public IP address would be extremely helpful in resolving the problem. Please feel free to PM that information to any member of the Community team (Beastyle, Avatea or Zwillinger).
Thank you very much for your patience as we work to resolve this issue. -
Hey folks,
As most of you probably know, I'm still a bit new around here. I'll poke around and see if I can find out if there is anyone internally who can answer some questions regarding the Mac client and issues related to it.
AFAIK, there are no current plans to upgrade the mac client to a newer version of Cider, however I could be wrong.
As a recent Mac convert (well, at least for my laptop needs) I understand your frustration and will see if I can help to at least get you some info.
Thanks!

Popping in here to let you know that I'm still reading and digesting this feedback. I'll be out of the office all day today and tomorrow at the Games Developer Conference, so I won't be able to respond.
I do plan on spending some time this weekend reviewing the thread and having discussion with you about it. Unfortunately this week is absolutely insanely busy.
Thanks to everyone for the continued constructive discussion and feedback and I'll speak with you again soon.

Let's keep the discussion on topic folks.
Thanks! -
To continue the discourse surrounding the current state of PvP:
Let's make this post with the knowledge that a portion of the Community prefers previous incarnations of the CoH PvP systems (i.e. pre i13). I'd like for everyone to take a moment and put that aside, for now.
What aspects PvP currently implemented in CoH do you like? If the answer is nothing, then simply state "nothing".
The purpose of this exercise is to hone down on what is positively received in the current state of PvP, since the aspects of what was attractive about the way things used to be are well documented.
To restate what I said previously: If you don't think these threads will accomplish anything, I respect that. I simply ask that you show the courtesy to not contribute to this conversation in a negative way.
Thanks!

My motivation for being here and talking to you all is pretty simple: I want to understand the current PvP Community and the issues that are at the Core of your concerns with the system, as it stands right now.
As a CM my responsibility is twofold. I have to understand what the Community is saying and at the same time be able to juxtapose that against development needs and scheduling. To be frank, sometimes this sucks.
Some don't want to open discourse and invest yourselves in feedback because you don't want to risk being disappointed again. I get that.
I respect your your experience with the development of the game to this point and your right as those who have been there and done that to have that viewpoint. The only courtesy I ask is that if you chose to not believe that anything will come of it, please do not contribute to the conversation in a negative manner.
As all good discussion must have an beginning and an end, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread and start a new discussion. Thank you for everyone who has participated in this thread and know that you're, at the very least, helping your Community Team better represent your interests. -
I plan on responding to some of your thoughts either later tonight or tomorrow morning after I've had a moment to digest and think about them. (Monday's for me are like Monday's for many of you I'm sure...)
Just a few thoughts:
- The Community Team has conveyed your thoughts and the sentiment in this thread
- I will eventually be closing this thread down for archival, and starting a new thread with a different focus of feedback.
Folks, I'll reiterate what I stated about understanding apathy and your feelings regarding this subject. Just keep in mind that there's no harm in talking about the current state of PvP if for no better reason than to help me get more thoroughly acquainted with your feelings regarding the situation.
I've read the stickied threads, and I understand what's been stated in the past. I'm still interested in an open dialog though and this is part of that. -
Quote:Negativity I can understand and empathize with. Approaching something in a reserved manner because of past experience is reasonable. I just ask that you don't let cynicism overshadow any sort of attempt we make to gather useful and helpful feedback....So don't be surprised if some are more negative than others.
Quote:Alternately you could go the WoW path and make PvP the only way to get some of the best gear in the game (while not being a random drop)...
So here's a questions for everyone in this thread: What other methods of PvP rewards do you think might be as effective or even more effective? -
Thanks everyone for your continued testing of the new Launcher. It's extremely helpful to us to get your feedback!

Quote:One might think I actually have a plan of attack or something like that...that is problem Phi - they know...they don't care.
Not really sure what he is trying to accomplish - he has pretty much said they are not planning on doing anything with pvp in the immediate future, nor are they going to roll back the i13 changes. It seems his goal is to refocus us to achieve some sort of goal and by sharing our best pvp experiences in this and other games - he can take that to the devs and boil down what is great about pvp and infuse it into coh...just a guess.
I've spent the last few years of my life working with some very hardcore PvP Communities. I've seen development teams do things very right, and I've seen decisions that didn't work out as intended. I don't imagine that I'm some Pee Vee Pee guru with a crystal ball into fixing the concerns. I have learned lessons, through my own mistakes and missteps, on how to focus discussion around PvP and to hopefully give the devs productive and useful feedback.
That's my goal here. First, to boil down what's actually fun about PvP to the CoH Community, and soon, in a follow up post, to refine that even further.
TLDR version...

Quote:Wow...I actually remember the Taxibots!
Oh, here we go, how it relates to City of Heroes. It kind of reminds me of some of the Taxibot events in the old days!
Didn't know my brainbox could go back that far anymore!
