  1. But that's what enhancements DO. They are transient. They are replaceable.
  2. I'd qft but instead I'll just say, "qft".

The surroundings are so familiar and wonderful.

For me, it's the Hollows. They look so much like areas of my town, the canyons and bits of woods still left and developments on the tops of them. No superpowered gang members, but certainly trollish people hiding among the rocky hills.
  3. The only kind of mini-spec I would really want, now that I've hit my 60 month reward level, is to be able to say "I would like to switch out my tier 1 for that teir 2 travel power ONLY".

I will admit that the respec process needs to be examined and made more streamlined and able to remind us what we HAD compared to what we're taking.

But ... switching out enhancements like that? nope. Not gonna happen and there's really no need. There is pretty much an inexaustable supply of enhancements. If you want to preserve a purple IO or something, think REALLY HARD about where you're putting it before you change your mind.
  4. Why not just run missions instead? If you're doing paper/radio missions, don't expect "immersion" they were intended only as a break from arcs to fill in the gaps in leveling.

well in my years in playing most games, the companies that make games that are online RPG games...they sell shirts, and action figures (which they make one heck of a profit from doing so).

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, they don't. They make nearly all their "profit" from actual game subs. Other things have a HUGE overhead:

    cost of creating artwork
cost of designing products to go with the artwork
meetings - does this artwork go best with blue or white? building maintenance, salaries, electric costs (and yes, there are more than one meeting for any given product. if you've ever been in a marketing meeting, you'd know)
finding a manufacturer to produce items
approving items, including shipping back and forth from company
deciding on how many to make - preorder? sale-after-creation only? more meetings!
    actual cost of manufacturing
    actual cost of shipping
    actual cost of storage
actual cost of distribution and advertising <-- that one is the worst
... So... No. Manufacturing ANYTHING - a tshirt, a bumper sticker, anything, is far more expensive than it's worth for a company whose only "product" is virtual.

Costs of running a virtual server - minimal compared to making a single item.
Costs of keeping staff / programmers = paid by subs and then some.

    One level left!!

Woot, come on, you can do it!

    Get on a task force.
  7. I have fun with my first two or three powers, don't know why it takes so long for some folks to feel "complete".

"Most people" DO enjoy leveling. Most people DO NOT powerlevel. Most people don't even have A fifty, you realize that, right? And not everyone relies upon farming to get levels. Pretty much "most" of the people who've been playing the game, all the ones I associate with and have for years now, do NOT farm or powerlevel, and almost all of them have produced insanely good quality arcs in the MA designed to impress us, not level us.
  8. ONLY if the enemy hasn't already seen you. THEY don't need line of sight when they're starting their attacks if they've already got you in their targeting. At least, that's always how it's seemed when you run around a corner and their "already did the math: hit" comes swirling around behind you...

If you get away without being targeted, yeah.
  9. Seriously!

The detail increases, ragdolling, real numbers, etc - those things have come to us incrementally and have slowly bolstered the basic game.

lol My only problem is that sometimes I come and play shortly after I've been playing Half Life and I want to either crouch or turn on my flashlight.

    >_> Yeah. lol. None of THAT here.
  10. I'm sure that with the huge increase in developer numbers, we WILL be seeing things like these. Customization is something long-awaited and long-said to be "back burnered". So, given there may very well be a team of people inventing whole new things for future releases, ... might happen. Thing is they'd have to make sure that each piece of a core change would work with all the other things NOT changing. THAT I would think, is much harder than it sounds, and considerably harder than making it from scratch. I don't want from scratch. I want to be eased into anything new, and frankly - I don't want anything to outright CHANGE during my stay here. So far, things have gone in a reasonable progression, with very few outright alterations.
  11. Any changes to the WHOLE of the game would not be in a required purchase, unless their marketing people are all quitting and have it in for the company. So far the only thing that has been different, and is long since changed, was the access to supergroup bases without COV.

Presumably since GR has its own set of zones and such, only people with access to them will get in - but any real core changes would never be attached to a full expansion like that, if it'd alienate people by the hundreds if not thousands. These are tough economic times. I would imagine the last thing they want to do is take people like me and make my 60 months of play completely invalid. I'm a good customer, and they know it.
  12. ANY edition you buy will give you the full basic game which all of us play. The choices really come in where you want certain perks such as costume options or temp powers.

And I agree with the others: buy em all. I've got all of them except Architect edition so far, but that's because I want to buy it in a real box to have the disks. Not like I've ever had to reinstall from disk on my desktop but my lappy is woefully behind (no router = sad state of things).

I don't even Go To Wincott . . . I stay at the contact and drop the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

I like the Hollows, myself, but I have been pickier about what I'm doing and when, with some of my characters. When I head into the Hollows it's because I intend to DO the Hollows. If I don't feel like it, doesn't matter: I can still go back if I want to, a couple levels later, and run some Meg missions.

But it's already optional. Just have to actually figure out what's wrong if you have clicked fully on Wincott and returned to your guy, like others have said you may have already outleveled them and that's causing kind of a weird loop. It should normally give you missions. So if you're not outleveling that contact, definitely petition and see what's up with it, as well as /bug.

    Mounts?

No, no, that just makes me want to BURN IT. There's a difference...

    Even ewe!

..... See if it had been two of the sheep standing there I *might* have gotten that joke.... (even - 2, odd - 1. ... yeah I didn't get it lol.)
  16. It still apparently has issues, so it's not available yet. When they're solved, we'll get it.

And that day, everyone will come here complaining that NC's system is too slow, because they want theirs NAO... I saw someone suggested preselling these things, and I agree that's a fantastic idea.
  17. Was it unintentional that your ladder/elevator / superman analogy made me think:

Top of building. Two heroes, bantering.

One says "I'll see you in Eden then!" and flies off.

The other says "where's eden?" And falls, subsequently saying, "what's that stupid button do? I don't know how to flyyyyy!"
  18. lol nice guy, sending you something guaranteed to make you squik at the idea of flying in... o.o
  19. If you're trying for an EU trial would it not give you the EU forums? I'm just wondering whether it's true or not, and whether this might become a problem for you.
  20. Well, the Laurel Building here in Sunny San Diego sits at the top of a hill overlooking Lindberg Field.

It has a clearance of 16 FEET. That's right, planes pass within 16 FEET of the top of this building. Every day.

Not one of them has so much as clipped it, as long as it's been there, if I recall correctly. So...

On the other hand, another field here got a building built up too close to it and they actually had to TAKE OFF 3 stories from it. Problem with that one was that it's not big planes, it's small personal aircraft - some of which have been known to land abruptly on the FREEWAY nearby. It was in fact an accident waiting to happen. I still want someone to actually land a plane on its roof, just to prove it.
  21. Except that ... we're not playing Ryzom. That game and this one are, to my knowledge, remarkably different from start to finish.

You said it yourself: it was built from the ground up to support something that THIS game has only had for less than a quarter of a year. That alone should clue you in: this game can't necessarily pick up any useful bits from that one - they are completely different monsters. Move along.
  22. I don't like ants. Therefore they cannot be added to this game.
  23. I don't think you really understand here.

Enhancements make the game easy. Remove them from your toon and that character will doubtless have a harder time competing with the enemies and certainly with any player characters they meet.

If someone found golf too easy - they would be filthy rich and well known for being the greatest golfer in the world. If someone finds this game too easy there are plenty of ways to make it more difficult without any "damage" to any person's body/soul/imagination. It's a video game. It has things that can be tweaked easily player-side, but would cause immense damage to the game if done game-side.
  24. Actually I've had all my city of heroes pictures deleted due to "copyright infringement" issues - three or four times. Whenever I put them back up, no matter where, they are deleted again.

I've asked for confirmation from Niv that they are acceptable to post anywhere we feel like, but haven't yet gotten a reply.

Just be careful who SEES your screenies, because apparently the dickwads at DA don't bother to actually READ information about copyright, they just hit the big red button when ever someone complains. no matter what.
