DeviantArt questions

Just started using DeviantArt a couple weeks ago (love the site!), tried some search-fu in their FAQ but wasn't successful. So, I'd figured I'd ask here; the best board on the forums and most likely home of DA gurus . . .
(1) Categories. How important is setting your category on uploaded images? I been putting my ActionBios (see sig) in "Fan Art > Cartoons/Comics > Digital > Games". Does that sound right? Should I even be concerned about real artists not liking my ActionBios in there?
(2) Upload Limit. Is there a limit to how much data a freebie account can upload to the DA servers?

(1) Not really.
(2) Nope.
Thanks, Bayani . . . and "Awesome to (2)!!!"

Most collectors put their Toon bios in their scrapbook section, meaning they don't give it a category, and instead choose scrapbook for that.
This is so they can fill their "gallery" with their collected commissioned work. Or their own attempts at actual art, if they are so inclined to learn and share...
I agree with Bayani's answers.
The keywording is more so for people doing photography and stockart, which allows a searcher, designer, etcetera to look for their work based on subject matter. You could do a search for COH work by typing that in...
Your bios are pretty good by the way, from an artist's pov.
Thanks LJ.
I can't draw but I'm pretty decent with layout and "whatever the name is for Type/Font use".
I did have my 1st drafts of the bios in scrapbook because, well, they were pretty scrappy and only had a few. But since I started cranking out more and have gotten better (and revised almost all of them) I decided to get 'em seperate from the scrap stuff I still got (and also to learn how to work the DA site . . . man, i love the site!)
Type/Font use, that would be Typography as the art form, and Graphic Design as a whole for what you do. It's all relative.

Whoops. I didn't read all of question 1. I meant "not really" as in the category is "not really important."

Ahh, well. I'm just gonna live on the edge and leave 'em there.
Actually I've had all my city of heroes pictures deleted due to "copyright infringement" issues - three or four times. Whenever I put them back up, no matter where, they are deleted again.
I've asked for confirmation from Niv that they are acceptable to post anywhere we feel like, but haven't yet gotten a reply.
Just be careful who SEES your screenies, because apparently the dickwads at DA don't bother to actually READ information about copyright, they just hit the big red button when ever someone complains. no matter what.

yeah, DA's administration is filled with fail when it comes to supposedly enforcing it's rules.
On the other hand, it's an ART site.
People upload paints, computer art, sculptures, photographs.
There are a ton of great comic artists posting there (Ryan Ottley from Invincible, Leinil Francis Yu, Brandon McKinney, David Nakayama, Jack Lawrence and many more)
DA was never meant to be a host for screenshot or holyday pictures, there are tons of provider for that. Having a few in scrapbooks for reference sake I can understand, but having only screenshot in a gallery ? It can be borderline for them.

eek. Well, in my defense I incorporate layout and typography (thanks LJ )
Welp, I was just over on my page and discovered the "activity messages" section. Someone "favoured" one of my bios so that's some good karma at least.

host for screenshot

they do have a section for those >.> they just call 'em desktop screenshots
Thanks Spino.
Gonna move em to Fan Art > Wallpapers > Games.
That about sums 'em up pretty good, I think.
LOL, I'm sitting here worried the DA police are gonna knock on my door and give me a "Malicious Use of Category" citation.

Weird. I do have screenshots up on my gallery, though I'm planning on taking them down when my model sheets are done.

Being part of an Art Theft community, you have NO idea.
And Screenshots are allowed now, according to DA's rules, but I believe you're required to put them in the Scraps section.

Does anyone even look at the Scraps section? That doesn't...quite make sense.
